Warning: It's not a beautiful space. It looks completely old and run down. They stopped seating customers during Covid and never looked back. (I guess we're too much work ). Truly ghost town looking building. But damn if it don't hit my "I need some good grits and bacon" itch every single time! Eggs, grits (both with or without cheese) Bacon, sausage patties, sausage links, ham, country fried steak, delicious pancakes, biscuits... I don't remember it all. You can have a plate of food or just order a meat of your choice with biscuit to go. The only missing piece on their menu is fried fish.And while their biscuits are very good, 8/10, nothing beats a Bojangles biscuit. The drive-through line was long - on a Thursday at 10 am. So I parked and walked in. There are a few chairs to sit in as you wait. The service is competent. Not particularly friendly but not at all rude. Just handling business. They busy y'all! So why doesn't the business invest in their building? Why is the sign so sun burned and the chairs look like they came from some back room in granny's church? It's not like they are hurting for business. They have folks wrapped round the drive-thru. Work trucks on idle waiting to get their fix. Oh! Check my receipt again. $8.57 for decadent cheese grits, fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and a biscuit. So .... they haven't raised prices to ridiculous amounts under the guise of "inflation" like everybody else! ? That must be why! I won't complaint. If you're looking for a great hearty breakfast at a very decent price this is the place to go! The line for the drive thru may be long but you can also order online and pick up inside. I did this and got my food before all the cars that were in the drive thru. I ordered the bacon breakfast with biscuits & gravy and it was really good. Not too salty but just right. I ordered a side of salmon croquettes but wasn't a fan. They were too fishy for me. Overall I will come back here and recommend it to others. read more

this is one of the best old school places to get breakfast! Every bite makes you feel like you got it from your mother... Lol and the prices are affordable. I used to come here frequently with my Mom for lunch so this place holds bitter/sweet memories for me. I stopped by to get breakfast early one morning (around 6:30 am) before work and there was a line of cars and a steady stream of people going in and out of the restaurant. I love that they have a drive-thru so you don't have to worry about looking presentable and can go out as you are to pick up breakfast. Even though there was a line, it moved quickly and of course I love the fact they have a drive thru. I ordered the country steak plate with eggs, cheese grits, and a biscuit. Of course I had to get the peach cobbler because it's the best around. The food was really good and did not disappoint.! The country fried steak came with brown gravy instead of white but was still delish! The eggs were a little runny so I will probably get eggs with cheese next time. The peach cobbler is hands down the best I've ever had and tasted even better than I remember. I believe their biscuits are homemade but I didn't eat mine and would order toast instead. I'm very selective when it comes to biscuits and theirs was just too hard for my liking. I had my dog with me and the nice lady that took my order asked if I wanted to get something for her.. Now I don't know if I would have been charged or not for like a piece of bacon, but I lied and told her I would giver her some of my food but I thought it was a sweet gesture. I was in the Lithonia area looking for breakfast and it was between Chick-fil-A and this and I chose this and boy did it not disappoint! I ordered a fried chicken, scrambled egg with cheese and bacon biscuit with cheese grits! That crunch from the chicken combined with the fresh baked biscuit is TOP MF TEIR! Breakfast of champions! Best cheese grits on this side of town! They forgot the bacon, but it was still absolutely delicious to the point I didn't even get upset. All I did was two days after the fact I called back and I said I would like to order the exact same thing again. I explained what happened and the manager ended up making up for their error. Not only did I get the correct order with the bacon but she also threw in a free drink, which she did not have to. I am a prickler for good customer service and the quality of this food is so consistent that there's always a line of cars busting out of the parking lot, which is always a good indicator. The manager and each worker that I've come across from the phone to in person is extremely pleasant considering how busy they are. Good, affordable, country cooking! I came here late morning around 10:30AM while I was in the area. The drive through line was so long it was in the road. I had to find out what the hype was all about. I ordered two fried chicken biscuits and a stack of pancakes. The service was great even though they were very busy the server at the window was very friendly. My fried chicken biscuits were huge and flavorful. Pass my this spot most mornings for work and the line is always wrapped around the corner. Finally decided to try them out. They have drive thru and in store options and i chose to do the drive thru which was about a 10-15 minute wait not too bad considering how busy they are. The drive thru staff was pleased helpful. I chose the fried chicken breakfast which comes with chicken breast, 2 eggs grits and a biscuit. I was not a fan of the chicken it was overly breaded and the chicken was not tender or flavorful. The eggs i order scrambled where ok just standard nothing special. My favorite was the cheese grits which were thick creamy and cheesy and the homemade biscuit was tasty with jelly spread on top. Because of this, it made me want to stop since I drive by it all the time in the morning on my way to work and I'm like -- their food must be good! I got the Turkey sausage egg n hashbrown breakfast plate the 1st time which the turkey tasted like it was frozen too long and then put in the microwave. It had a freezer taste and the juices coming out were cold although the outside was warm. That was the only issue the first time. The second time I went after coming back from church and my family got food as well . 3 chicken egg n cheese biscuits (kids) again I tried the Turkey sausage egg n hashbrown breakfast plate and my husband got the Country fried steak, cheese, eggs, cheese, grits, white toast. The kids said the biscuits weren't bad as long as you added jelly because the biscuit was very dry. My order was OK, but not amazing, and my husbands order was missing altogether and he had to go back and get it, but once he did, the manager/owner apologized and refunded that part and had it whipped up for him quickly. So the Customer Sevice is there. Because of great customer service, which I also received through the drive-through, even though it was a long wait the drive-through attendant was very attentive and pleasant. Wonderful food and friendly service! I always try to find local gems and hit the jackpot on this one. The food was delicious! We had a country ham with egg and cheese biscuit and a boneless chicken meal with Lima beans and mashed potatoes with gravy. I also had a order of streak o lean which was just like my grandma would have had atop her stove waiting for grandkids to come in and snack on. Everything was delicious and a great value. Now - please manage your expectations - it is NOT a fancy place by any stretch. There's no dine-in, but there are a few benches and chairs for you to sit on while awaiting your order. The kitchen looks like chaos, but Mamie and her Ladies do an efficient job of managing all of the incessant orders they get, with the help of the cashier, a round-bellied charming dude who greets everyone and takes orders quickly. i stopped by recently and enjoyed: - the pancakes with cheese eggs (not the fluffiest pancakes, but tasty and so are the eggs without being firm or runny) - the chicken biscuit - just a simple, savoury sandwich, the biscuit is well-made - hashbrowns - decent with ketchup - turkey sausage breakfast plate with cheese grits Now: - minus 1 star because the salmon biscuit i ordered was just dry and unappetizing. - minus a 2nd star because NO ONE was wearing masks, and one lady with extra-long nails, and ungloved hands was busy serving food!!! Have we not learned anything in the past two years? Folks in food service especially need to be gloved and masked to prevent bacterial and virus transfer. I visit this place at least three times a week and order the same thing mostly. The last three weeks I've ordered cheese eggs double smoked sausage and toast and I've been charged no more than $5.50 each time from different cashiers. When the manager "Mike" is working as the cashier I'm being charged $10.20 for the same thing. Mike told the cashier that I had a double smoked sausage breakfast with cheese eggs and wheat toast, I asked why I'm I being charged for a full breakfast and I didn't have any grits when a full breakfast comes grits, I was told you still get charged for a full breakfast. I told Mike that everytime he is working the register I'm charged a different price compared to when someone else is at the register. I even pointed to the menu to show Mike the prices, cheese eggs $1.69 and smoked sausage $ 1.79. I was told that those prices included a biscuits with my order. I asked why am I being charged by you Mike $10.20 for my meal he told me again I order a breakfasts and not biscuits and you order toast. I told them to take off my toast and my grand total was now $8.22 from $10.20. I added up my total with cheese eggs (biscuit) double smoked sausage (biscuits) for a grand total of $ 5.27. This was my first time coming here. The lines were long. So I glad I made the decision to call ahead for faster service. They have a drive through but like I said, it is long. No dine in. They do have a walk up window. If you do place a pick up order, you have to get out of your car and go to the pick up window. I ordered the Salmon cake plate. It came with eggs, grits and biscuit/toast. I opt out of both the bread and biscuit. The grits were really good. The eggs were ok. The salmon cake were salty so I had to make sure I had enough water to wash it down. I really wanted fruit but they do not sell any. However, I will be back again! read more

We visited Mamie's around noon on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and what struck me immediately was the long line in the drive-thru. That was certainly a good sign for this "no-frills" restaurant. The place is small, with about 10 tables and a little counter up front where we placed our orders. The red and white tablecloths reminded me of a picnic while the food was reminiscent of diner fare. Good diner fare. I split the pancakes, which came in an order of 3, and the chicken breakfast. The chicken breakfast came with a biscuit, a fried chicken breast, eggs, and grits. Others at the table opted for the popular salmon cakes, hotlinks, french toast, and breakfast sandwiches. We also tried the peach cobbler, which had slightly under-cooked crust that had more of a biscuit consistency, peaches, and cinnamon. It was just ok. The breakfast food was seasoned well and cooked well. And the prices are very reasonable. This is the kind of place where you can take the industrial size bottle of syrup to your table until another table needs it. It's the kind of place where someone walks around and asks "anything else you need, sweetie"? It's the kind of place that you bring your family to and enjoy casual food. So, If you're in to innovative food and fancy breakfast spots, this isn't the place for you. But, if you're looking for good, Southern food between the early morning hours until 2pm Monday through Saturday, then stop by Mamie's to either dine-in or pick up a bite to eat. I've been to Mamie's quite a few times, I'm the Duke for Gods sake so I think I finally feel comfortable enough to write a review. My first couple of trips here were not the best but I think I have to blame it on myself. I didn't really understand how to order and how things work in this place. I think the first time I came, I ordered a piece of chicken and a biscuit... #nobueno. I couldn't grasp what the hype was about. The next time I went in with friends and family and this cool guy that worked there explained that we should order a meat and a side (eggs, grits or gravy and a biscuit). My favorite thing to order now is pancakes with chicken and cheesy eggs. The pancakes are always warm and fluffy and the chicken, mmmm mmm mm delicious! To me, it's better than chicken and waffles. I've had the biscuits and gravy before (picture uploaded) but there was just too much gravy and I'm not a big fan of the gravy. It lacked flavor, even though it was caked on. The peach cobbler here is really good. It's a little buttery but its still tasty and definitely tastes homemade. On the weekends this place gets really packed with a long line so I definitely suggest calling in your order. I tried it this past weekend and it was great. I got to the spot and he line was almost out the door. I walked in and the lady came out and told me to go to the front of the line to pay for my food. I felt like VIP!! Overall this place is really good. It gives you the old fashioned, hole on the wall vibe and you know those are sometimes the spots where you get the best food. Mamie's Kitchen - down right good country breakfast, and probably in my top 5 favorite breakfast places of all time in the metro area. I come in, and the first thing at least 2 employees ask me, "where are the kids today?" If you come more than once or twice, they will know you. And your kids. And when I sit down, someone will ask me if I need anything at least 2 or 3 times even though there aren't technically any "servers." Its more of a cafeteria style breakfast where you may usually wait in a long but efficient line to get your breakfast items, which may include biscuits (with sausage, turkey sausage, salmon croquette, pork chop, chicken, or just egg and cheese), eggs, grits, the usual. Something you may not see on the menu but should try is their pancakes. Everything is delicious! Especially the biscuits, eggs, pancakes, and any biscuit sandwich. Even the sweet tea is superb. The drive thru line is worth noting. Its usually loonng in the mornings but efficient. Maybe you'll have difficulties parking, but it's worth it.
