I've been in Covington for 20 years now and decided it was about time I tried breakfast at Mamie's Kitchen. The service was quick, the food excellent, and the prices reasonable. My only problem is looking at a long day of yard work ahead of me something lighter than the Biscuits and Gravy might have been wiser. Maybe I'll just go back to bed.

Got the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit and also tried the chicken biscuit. We both asked for cheese and didn't get any lol. It was still good without it but I think it would have been even better with it. The biscuits are good and this place has been around forever. I wish they tasted a little bit more like buttermilk however. Want to come back to try more.

Great local breakfast spot. All the biscuits are good but you have to try the chicken at least once.

These ladies know what they are doing and I'll possibly dream about that chicken biscuit within the next week.

You wouldn't know that from the website nor just walking in. That would've been nice to know beforehand so we wouldn't have wasted our time. The inside has an interesting look and feel but they at least played some good music. We went for Sunday brunch around 11:30. The server was a bit slow, and it wasn't extremely busy. I ordered the fish and grits and my sister got the shrimp and grit balls. None of it was seasoned, with MAYBE the exception of the Cajun sauce that came in both dishes. If you're like me, you know it's not hard to even lightly season seafood or even grits, so it was disappointing the flavors, or lack of, that we got. Will we be back? Eh idk. It was close to my sister's house so that was the only plus.

I really wanted to see if things had improved since my last visit with a large party. Unfortunately, it still feels like a place with potential that's not being supported properly. When we walked in, I thought things had turned around. The new host (her first day) was amazing warm, confident, and professional. She gave a great first impression. But once seated, it went downhill. * The music was way too loud, to the point where we had to lean in just to talk. * There was only one server working the entire restaurant, which meant slow service, long waits, and a stressed-out vibe. Let's talk food: The fish and grits (see photo) were phenomenal easily the best thing I've had on both visits. Creamy, flavorful, and cooked just right. The chicken and waffles (see photo) were average. Chicken was seasoned okay, but the waffle was a bit underwhelming and slightly rubbery. This place could be a standout in the area the branding, the menu ideas, the food (when it hits) are all there. But the inconsistency, staffing issues, and volume level hold it back. Would I come back? Maybe, for the fish and grits. But only if I hear they've fixed the basics.

The hostess was great, very pleasant and accommodating for our party. We did have to wait behind 2 other parties when we arrived, but the wait was the amount of time suggested by the hostess, so no problem there. We had to ask twice for silverware and she came back to ask if we wanted carry out containers after we'd just asked her for them... It appeared to be a family friendly environment, although I don't remember seeing any parties with children. There was a variety of music playing; the volume was good. The guest volume is about average for a restaurant setting with music playing. I will definitely be back to try other menu items. Unacceptable Food Safety Issue and Poor Management Response…read more Our experience at Conyers Restaurant Bar & Grill was unacceptable and deeply concerning, not just because of what happened, but because of how it was handled. After our food was served and while we were eating, I noticed something unusual inside the maple syrup canister that was placed in the center of the table. Knowing my uncle had ordered pancakes, I checked his plate and saw the same issue there. Upon closer inspection, it was clear there were ants inside the syrup canister and on the plate itself. This is a serious food safety concern. Photos and videos were taken at the table. We immediately informed a staff member, who appeared genuinely concerned and went to notify the manager. When the manager came to the table, who was also our server, he simply asked what was going on and did not acknowledge the issue until I asked if he had already been told. He then offered a brief apology and asked if my uncle wanted more pancakes, which showed a complete lack of understanding of the seriousness of the situation. The manager did not return to the table afterward. After about 15 to 20 minutes, another staff member came by and asked if everything was okay, forcing us to explain the situation again. The only resolution offered was 20 percent off the meal, despite this being a food safety issue affecting a table of nine people. My parents have frequented this restaurant since it opened and have been regular customers over the past year or two. After this experience, they will not be returning. Supporting local businesses matters, but customer safety, accountability, and integrity matter more. This experience made it clear those standards were not upheld.
