I love popcorn chicken, so when I saw that they had added it as a new menu item, I immediately bookmarked it and came by as soon as I had the chance. It did not disappoint! We chose the Spicy spice level and thought it had the perfect amount of heat--not too overwhelming but still flavorful. We also really enjoyed the Mama Sauce, which complemented the chicken nicely without overpowering it. The portion was generous and, in my opinion, worth the price. The ambiance is very casual, but the restaurant was clean and there was plenty of parking. Service was also great! The lady who helped us had such a positive, pleasant, and friendly attitude. I even saw her go out of her way to help another customer by walking around the counter to look at the menu with her and explain something. She gave us an estimated wait time for our order, and everything came out within that timeframe. Overall, I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're craving a tasty little chicken snack! The popcorn chicken is a great addition to the menu.

I recently bought a party sized tray of the spicy garlic wings for a group dinner and it was 10/10! The ordering process was extremely easy, I just called ahead and told Mama Hieu's what date and time I was planning on picking up the wings, and they were ready upon arrival for me. And the flavors??? Absolutely incredible! I highly recommend going here for your next catered event!

10/10 Garlic Butter & Fish Sauce - These are the 2 wing flavors we always, always get and never switch up. The wings are so good and never disappoint! 8.5/10 Garlic Noodles - I always love the garlic noodles from here, but this time I felt like they were lacking garlic. I'd say about 2 out of every 5 times I order them, they don't have quite enough garlic flavor for my taste. Still good, but I definitely prefer them when they're more garlicky!

MAMA HIEU KNOWS WHAT SHES DOING !!! Every time I come visit Cali, we always cater to our parties and she does not miss every time. We always order the Fish Sauce Wings Party Tray and Shrimp Garlic Noodles. Everybody talks about the wings but oh baby those noodles?!? Killer. They are so flavorful and the shrimp is cooked perfectly. This is the type of food you don't forget. Thank you Mama Hieu for the delicious food every time !

This is an overdue review from my soft opening experience back then The food was alright and decent. They were still in the soft opening phase so they were getting the ropes of things and were in training. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. They also gave a coupon that you could use when you came back after they had a grand opening. I opted for the family pack and the chicken sandwich the first time I came. The chicken sandwich was alright, but i found the wings underwhelming. The garlic noodles also felt too oily too me. The 2nd time I returned I used a coupon and got the fries. My favorite part was their Mama's sauce.

I came here on the weekend and there were plenty of seats. The server was quick with my order and food came out fast. I got the fish glazed wings (mild) with rice and spicy garlic wings with a side of garlic noodles. The wings were made fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed the fish glazed wings the best. Definitely will be back for more wings and the Wednesday wings deal!

Andy's special wings! $8 for 8 wings on Wednesday! Yum!

I love their second location even more cause it's super close to me. Actually both locations were close. Great locations they picked out! I love their wings but I haven't tried their new collaboration with Andy for their house special wings! I was able to try it on their Wings Wednesday for $1 per piece! I got their 8 pcs and boy was it yummy!! Love the crispiness and the flavor for house special was spot on. Can't go wrong with any of their flavors actually! Fish sauce wings are their OG for a reason! So delicious!! Gotta try them out! Love their box! We usually get their party tray for the holidays or events since it's so delicious! Can't go wrong with them! Check them out on Wednesday for $1 per piece!!

Been a fan of Mama Hieu's ever since she was serving her famous chicken wings from home, so I was excited to check out the new location. I wasn't disappointed! We tried the chicken sandwich and the popcorn chicken, and both were delicious. The chicken sandwich was definitely the standout--crispy, flavorful, and worth ordering again. My only criticism is the price. At around $14 for a chicken sandwich, it's a bit on the expensive side, which is why I'm giving it 4 instead of 5. The service was excellent, and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. Overall, a great addition, and I'll definitely be back.

Box Original Garlic Butter

Such a great place to get wings, my favorite flavor is the original garlic butter! Usually decently fast with service unless it super busy. Consistently delicious, can't recommend this enough!

I'm literally writing this review while eating my food because I'm THAT disappointed. I tried Mama Hieu's for the first time yesterday, September 1, 2026. I ordered the $17 Original Garlic chicken box. The second I bit into that first wing, I thought, "Wow." I'm not exaggerating when I say it was probably the best chicken wing I've ever had. The crunch was incredible and completely different from any fried chicken I've had before. The garlic flavor was on point, the chicken tasted fresh, and I demolished the entire box -- chicken, veggies, everything. I was so impressed that I came back THE VERY NEXT DAY. Fast forward to today around 6 PM. I literally got into an argument with my girlfriend because I kept insisting she needed to try "the best chicken in the world." That's how much I hyped this place up after yesterday. I ordered another $17 box for myself and a $10 meal for her. Man... what a disappointment. Maybe one or two pieces between both orders had that beautiful fresh crunch from yesterday. The rest of the roughly nine wings were nowhere close. I don't know whether they had been sitting around and were re-fried or what happened, but the texture made them seem completely different from what I was served yesterday. Whatever the reason, that amazing crunch was mostly gone. And there I am looking at my girlfriend eating the chicken I had just spent all day hyping up, waiting for her to have the same "OMG" reaction I had yesterday. Nothing. She wasn't giddy. She wasn't impressed. And I couldn't even blame her because I was sitting there eating mine thinking, "What happened to the chicken from yesterday?" Yesterday: 10/10. I would've told everybody I know to come here. Today: That's what makes this so frustrating. I KNOW how good Mama Hieu's can be because I literally experienced it less than 24 hours ago. If my first visit had tasted like today's order, I probably never would've understood the hype. Restaurants have good and bad days, I get it. But when someone comes back the very next day because your food impressed them THAT much, spends over $30, and gets something noticeably worse, that's a consistency problem. And personally, once I'm spending $30+ on food, I'm not interested in gambling on whether I'm going to get yesterday's incredible chicken or today's disappointing chicken. I really wanted this to be my new go-to fried chicken spot. After yesterday, I thought it was. After today, I honestly won't be back. PS I was the only customer during this situation.

Box Salted Egg Yolk
Innsu K.

Man, where to begin. Easy 5/5 for wings. Crispy, savory and flavorful, not too salty or sweet. I would recommend getting either the salted egg yolk or fish sauce wings as a BOX. There's always leftover sauce to mix in with the rice, and it just makes the rice so pleasant and fragrant. Parking around this area is less difficult than just getting into this plaza from the east side of Garden Grove. Just be careful navigating here. It's a small place to eat at, so I would recommend that you come in a small group or just take it to go. The wings stay crispy so you're chillin

I got some take out here. I got 4 pieces of the spicy garlic chicken, 4 pieces of fish sauce chicken, 1 tater tots side. There was A LOT of tater tots in the box. I tried all the sauces as well. The mama hieu sauce is honestly not bad, pretty tasty. I felt like the chicken was not great though. I couldnt tell the flavors of the 2 types that I got well; they just tasted about the same... The spicy chicken was not spicy at all. The tator tots were a bit better than the chicken, though it felt really heavy eating it. The people there almost forgot to give me the tator tots (granted I saw 2 boxes in the bag and thought it was everything so its partly my fault too). My review is mostly taste related, I wouldnt say I love the food but I wouldnt say I hate it either.

Wow this place genuinely was such a pleasant surprise. We had heard about the one in westminster and wanted to try and saw that there was this one in garden grove! THE WINGS!!! I love ny korean fried chicken but man the flavors on these were better than most korean fried chicken flavors... The salted egg yolk one was good, I've had this flavor before at another chinese restaurant, but it wad ny first time trying wings with the chili fish sauce flavor profile. That was my favorite. Wish I got it spicy instead of medium!! It's honestly worth getting the box because the rice mixed with the sauce of the wings is soo good! Also so glad we didn't skip out on the fries. They're the same style and kind as Kicking Crab's cajun fries which we loooove. And for the price, it's a decent amount of food. So glad we decided to randomly try this place and will most definitely be back!!!

The chicken was crispy and the dipping sauce gave it that extra yummy goodness. The dish also came with a side of broth that had chicken bits in it, was nice to help digest your dish. I also loved that they gave you pickled veggies & fresh veggies. We also ordered the Loi's Fusion Saltado, upgraded the rice to garlic egg fried rice. The beef was soft and tender, the fries were nice and crispy and the fried rice was fresh. You 100% need to get the Thai Tea. A lot of place add too much cream/half and half diluting the tea flavor, they do not skimp on the actual tea in their drink. The color speaks for itself on the dark orange hue!

I'm a bit late getting around to writing this, and unfortunately, they are already closed, but I still felt like I had to share my experience. I'm not completely surprised that they closed, especially after trying their bò né. I've had this dish many times at different places around Orange County, and unfortunately, this was probably the weakest version I've come across. The first thing that stood out was the presentation. As you can see in the picture, there was this purple-colored sauce on the meat itself, which honestly did not look very appetizing. To make things worse, the sauce was cold and did not heat in time with the skillet, which really took away from the experience. The flavor itself wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't anything memorable. It was just okay, and when you factor in the cold food and the presentation, it made the whole dish disappointing. With so many places around Orange County serving bò né at a much higher level, I would probably recommend spending your money elsewhere. If you were wondering whether you missed out on some hidden gem, don't worry, you didn't. This one felt more like a piece of coal than a diamond. That being said, every restaurant has its journey, and with more time, maybe they could have found their footing. Hopefully, they can take this experience as a lesson, refine their recipes, and bring something better in their next venture. I am rooting for you Loi!
