Nha Hang 1.99 is more than a restaurant to me--it's a piece of my childhood. No frills. No thrills. Just honest, comforting Vietnamese food that tastes exactly the way it always has. Growing up, my family would come here every Saturday because it was one of the only places we could afford at the time. Back then, the dishes really were $1.99, and this restaurant fed not just our stomachs, but our sense of togetherness. Yes, prices have gone up over the years--but the food hasn't changed. The flavors still hit the same: familiar, grounding, and deeply nostalgic. The fried chicken, rice plates, soups--everything tastes like memory. Like survival. Like home. This place represents an era for so many immigrant families in the Orange County. It's not trying to be trendy or modern--it's preserving something important. And that matters. 5 stars for the culture. 5 stars for the history. 5 stars for staying true.

We stopped by for a quick lunch. We were on a bit of a time constraint. We were immediately sat as there were only a few tables there. We ordered the com ga chien and the steak. Food came out quick. We were in and out within 25 minutes. The chicken is as good as I remembered. Crispy skin, flavorful chicken, tomato rice was excellent and omg the sweet soy sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly served with white rice and a fried egg over hard. Nostalgic.

My family and I have been ordering takeout from this place for years, but this was my first time dining inside. We were the only ones dining in the restaurant on a Saturday night. The chicken plate is a must get, I've never ordered anything else on their menu but this is what they're known for. The meal came with a complimentary soup which is only for dine-in. This meal is always so quick, simple, and affordable. They made our order very quick and the workers were nice. ig: @cravingswithcat

Easy parking + spacious outdated restaurant + okay service + cash only. Don't expect anything crazy, just order the chicken fried rice ($12). The sauce is addicting. Chicken skin is crisp. Also didn't know we would be charged for water ($1.50) so don't order water if you want an additional charge.

Says dogs are allowed too, wild.

A ableist restaurant filled with lovely elders and denied my service animal access. I was very frustrated because I don't think they understand ADA law. I will be reporting this location to code enforcement for a violation and take it from there. I asked to speak to a manager, and they said they weren't here or available and denied me public accommodations. It's unfortunate because I was looking forward to eat here for nostalgia, bc it was a spot I would eat here as a child with my parents. Also what's crazy, is they their own yelp says dogs are allowed. I will highly consider taking legal action. update: they removed the "dogs allowed" amenities on their yelp page, but I have a screenshot with time stamps. I've also called and reported the incident to code enforcement. I have evidence of the interaction via video available for code enforcement if they request it. After reflecting, I have decided it's not within my values to seek legal action against a small business operated by elders. However, I do want them to get more equipped on how to be navigate public accommodations.

had this after probably a decade and it's still good! the rice and soup were so yummy and flavorful! the chicken was great in some parts but pretty dry in other parts, which is why i rate it a 4. the egg was also a little overcooked and dry. overall tho with the sauce provided, it made it much better. overall price is decent for what it is, and service was quick!

Order the chicken rice plate. That's their specialty. Don't bother ordering anything else off the menu. It's even printed first and in red on their menu. Service is quick. The interior is tired and run down. Some might find it better to just order take out.

I adore this place. It's delicious, authentic, and a bang for your buck. I got this fried chicken dish (~$12) and when I say the chicken was cooked to perfection, it was crisp, golden, and just amazing! The portion size is pretty large too and the sauce that it comes with is delicious too (almost like a sweet soy sauce). The place is super spacious and we didn't have to wait at all. I would definitely come back here any day. I just wished I lived closer!

This place is an authentic hidden gem. If you come here, order their famous cornish chicken. It tastes fantastic with their sauce, red rice, eggs, and pickled vegetables.

Food so nolstalgic - loved the ga roti skin so crispy and the sauce is so delicious. Red rice moist and pickled veggies are refreshing. Same decor as 20 years ago it seems. Still cash only which sucks

Food is great! Service is fast! And there's olenty of seating! They are cash only so make sure you have that handy!

Honestly the best and most affordable chicken and rice place. I got it Togo and it was still hot and crispy when I got home. The red rice is a must, it is much more flavorful than regular rice. The chicken is so juicy and tender.

    1. The hen tasted delicious with the sauce! 2. The spot has casual vibes with Vietnamese music playing! 3. There are a lot of indoor seatings! 4. Parking lot is small but it is easy to find parking! 5. This place only accepts cash! Note: There may be a language barrier if you do not speak Vietnamese Photo: #1 Com Ga Chien

The crispy Vietnamese eggrolls were also a first and it was great! The meaty and crispiness of the eggrolls eaten like a lettuce wrap with the nuoc Cham sauce was delicious. Over all those years, they have never disappointed me and continue to serve really good food. I usually get the beef brisket pho and it's really good. The noodles are just the right texture, the broth is clean and flavorful, and the meat tastes fresh and tender. Their dui bo is also very good, but usually runs out after 1:00 or 2:00 pm, since they only have a limited amount of this item every day. The meat is fall off the bone tender and has a more fatty flavor to it. It usually sits in some broth that absorbs that beefy and fatty flavor from the bone. A great addition to any bowl of pho. Alternatively, I sometimes also get the bun thit nuong and it's very good. The eggrolls it comes with is wrapped with rice paper, so when it's fried up, it has such a satisfying crunch and texture to it. The thit nuong is has a nice smokey, grilled flavor to it. The shrimps are okay as well. This is a very satisfying and filling dish, so if you're looking for a high volume dish, this may be the one to get. Expect long lines during peak hours. I can confirm though that the wait is worth it! Service is always very good. The ambiance on the inside is fine, very plain and unassuming in my opinion.
