One of my favorite restaurants in the area. I usually go on Saturdays around 1/1:30 PM and it's relatively empty. Service is fast and the servers are nice, possibly due to the emptiness. I usually get my food by about 5 minutes or so. I always order the French Style Beef Steak with Fried Rice. The steak pieces are juicy and the sauce is delicious. The fried rice is also great as it is not overly oily and has egg and some veggies in it. I have also tried the fried salmon and that is another really delicious option. Every person also gets a cup of herbal tea. I request a to go cup and get a refill before I head out. You can also buy a bigger bottle of the tea to take home The plate of beef steak costs about $20 after tip, so it is not the cheapest meal in the world. However, since I don't eat here too often I'm willing to pay it every few weeks Overall, I'd rate this restaurant an 8.5/10. Yumm!! I saw pics on Yelp of the bo luc lac over crispy chow mein so has to try it out. It's in the order of a plaza and right on the street so easy to find. Big parking lot so lots of parking. The service was very accommodating and helpful so the little bit of language barrier was comfortable. The dish took no more than 10 min. I guess since I was at that time one of the only ones in there, however it started filling up as I was eating. The Dac Biet was really good the meat super tender with bean sprouts and green onions a very tasty dish, I highly recommend. This was a nice little discovery amongst so many restaurants in this area. We sat and after that everything was really unexpected. My family and I felt very unwelcomed here, the environment here was not pleasant at all. So the waiter came to our table like if he was in a rush placed the menus and left. He came back minutes after to take our order, and as we were almost done ordering I said "and to Drink we want Sprite and.." he interrupted me by saying Free and another word in Vietnamese and left me talking. The waiter came back with some iced tea that I didn't order and left again. Came back for the third time with our Pho and placed it on the table in a rush and left. As I was about to eat the soup I found a long hair on my Pho Soup. So I turned and he was standing few feet away, and politely called him and showed him the hair on the soup and asked him to please correct the mistake. So he took the bowl of soup to the kitchen and comes back with a bowl of soup and placed on the table and left. So for the second time I stirred the bowl of soup and the hair was still there. I called him for the second time showed him again, and politely told him that I was not going to eat that and to take that back. He ignored me left the bowl of soup on the table. During this time he never apologized for anything. It took about 5 minutes for a women to come to our table and apologize, offered another bowl of soup at no cost, so I explained to her that by that time my family and I were already disgusted. So we paid for all the food we ordered minus the bowl of soup. We are not going back to Luc Dinh Ky Restaurant ever again! It was terrible! We suspect that this is more of a race/discrimination situation. They wanted to make sure we don't go back there ever again and they got what they wanted. I love Luc Dinh Ky aka LDK (does anyone else call it LDK) I have been going here for years with my family and this place is always delicious and consistent. This is location #1 and it's the best!! Don't get it twisted with location #2 which is down the street and not good ... it does not compare to this location #1 at all. They have different cooking styles. As I mentioned above, I have been eating here for years prior to the pandemic, during pandemic (to go orders), and recently for dine in. The workers have always been the same they are awesome, nice, and quick including the chefs my food always comes out fast! I love how they give free drinks "nuoc mat" here and they are generous they come around often to fill it up! If you order to go they will also pack one to go for you. The free drink is so refreshing my favorite. I only ever order two dishes here and I highly recommend both! I order a mi xao don thit bo (crispy fried egg noodles with a beef, veggies, and sauce or crunchy beef chow mein) and com tay cam bo luc lac (hot pot rice and shaken beef). This is only for the terrible service I received the last time I came here. I was never a regular and only come here on the occasions my boyfriend craves for their egg noodles or the crispy salmon dishes. I'm personally indifferent. I hear the servers here talk/grumble about and laugh at customers all the time. The male server would make a joke out of a customer he just serviced and another lady would join in. I always go on selective hearing mode when I eat here because I find it to be very unprofessional, especially because they think it's ok to do that in front of all the customers. I am fully aware that the typical Asian restaurants don't usually boast on service and why I often choose to ignore it, but the last time one of the female servers made a super rude comment when I was trying to ask in Vietnamese if we could have the fresh chilies. My boyfriend doesn't speak Viet so he asked me to ask our server if we could get the fresh chilies, me not knowing exactly what he was talking about, I just basically translated fresh chilies to "ớt mới cắt". Right when our server understood that we wanted "ớt hiểm", this other server who was doing something 5 ft away and probably eavesdropping the whole time, jumped in and said, "muốn ớt hiểm thì nói đại cho mẹ đi". The one with the roast pork (Heo quay) is crispy and flavorful in the broth. They have some spicy jalapeños as condiments on the table. The rice (com) or crispy rice (com tay) is okay. They have Hainan chicken rice which uses "Asian" chickens. The chicken is good, but the ginger scallion oil is meh. Not the same taste as you'd get at a Cantonese spot. They load you up on rice - swear it was like 2 cups of rice. Service is quick but attitude is something to be missed lol They just drop table mats and utensils and run. It is still cash only, so be aware. I personally perfer this one over the one a few blocks down because parking is a little easier in this one. I always order mine with dry noodle so it is crispier and crunchier. There's little difference in each dish other than the protein it comes with. Eating this always takes me back to childhood. Hu Tieu Hoanh Tanh: Noodle soup with wontons. Another classic favorite because of how instantly comforting the soup is. i love the wontons in the soup.
