    Rueben and catfish and grits
    Raelene V.

Mom and I were headed to Metro Diner when I remembered my daughter had recently eaten at Mally's and enjoyed it so we decided to give it a go. Mally's is located next to TBones on Washington rd. so there's plenty of parking. This used to be a banquet space and only a portion is being used for the cafe. They also are selling meat, candles, spices and jellies here. There is a little hot bar section which is different daily. One of the servers said they post the day's menu on Facebook. Today was "seafood" day with a few fish options and fried shrimp on the menu. Everything is served a la carte with entrees running about $10 and sides $2.50 each. There were about 8 classic sides to choose from. They also have a soup, sandwiches and salads. There is a large refrigerator with grab and go options but I didn't see what they were. Mom ordered a piece of catfish ($4) and grits ($2.50) and I ordered a Rueben sandwich. Her piece of catfish was large and more than enough to make a meal. She declared it was perfectly fried. It came with a tarter sauce. Her grits were very creamy and they included a container of shredded cheese with them. My Rueben was really excellent and I am super picky about this sandwich so I usually don't order it because I can make a great Rueben at home. The corn beef was sliced thin but there was a gracious plenty. The ratio of meat to cheese to sauerkraut was spot on. It was also grilled perfectly. If you love a good Rueben then this is your sign to hit them up! We both had waters to drink so I can't speak to how the tea is here. The server also told us that from 4-7 they have a dinner option which is two entrees ($10 or less) and 2 sides for $20. After our meal we were full but since all the desserts are homemade we had to try. Mom picked lemon cake. It was in a cooler so the icing was hard and the cake a bit dry but the flavors were there. The tangy lemon curd filling was especially tasty. Everyone working here was super nice and my only complaint is about their seating. Most of the tables are high tops and that's not always comfortable for someone with mobility issues like my 83 yo mom. Other than that quibble this is a great and unique spot.

Smoked wings, macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders

Food was delicious. They have a hot bar to order from and change out the menu with daily specials. Tuesday - Taco bar Wednesday - Sandwiches Thursday - can't remember Friday - Fish Fry Saturday - Smoked meats. Everyone was friendly and offered suggestions on their favorite meats. The wings were seasoned perfectly and my husband really liked the chicken tenders. The macaroni and cheese was spot on for good ole southern comfort food.

The food is absolutely delicious. I had the Reuben and it was marvelous. The brussels sprouts were out of this world.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the owner who handed us a menu. It's s limited menu but they have daily specials that they post on Facebook and instagram. I love this kind of menu as it usually indicates everything is fresh. My DD ordered the hot Rueben and I got the Roast Beef Melt. Both of these sandwiches were top tier. Loaded with meat and cheese. My DD said she thought the Rueben could have more sauce but that it was still "solid". My Roast Beef came with a delicious au jus which was not too salty. We ordered combos so we got to choose between potato salad or pasta salad (fruit or chips were the other options) and a cold drink (cans/bottles). They actually gave us both salads. We both agreed the pasta salad was the winner here but the potato salad was better than most. We also took a piece of their Turtle Cheese cake which is made by the owner's mom. It was superb! They close at four but they do have some dishes in their case for dinner like lasagna and enchiladas. Make it a point to check this place out it is a great spot.

Even taking the time out to give helpful hints to the new hire in between kitchen runs. We had the southwest rolls, honey garlic chicken sandwich with wedge fries and the catfish platter with beer battered fries. The egg-rolls were a good appetizer, I could not try the sauce because I prefer no heat, but my husband liked it. He LOVED the chicken sandwich which was one of the daily specials and the catfish was really good too. The only difference I would have made is order the wedge fries instead of the beer battered. We will definitely be back here for lunch when we are in this side of town. It can get a little loud so this is not the place for an intimate meal but for lunch with coworkers or on a day off, it's great food.

I was super excited to find out I had a place in my new neighborhood that seemed like it would fit the bill and that, as a guy living alone a stone's throw away, I could come to once per week. Let's start with the good. Food is pretty damn good, albeit sides are pretty stingy. Service is quick and fine otherwise. Lots of local sports memorabilia, albeit a serious lack of screens in the main dining room. Here's what drops me all the way down to one star: why, if you are in the customer service industry, would you advertise your political leanings so overtly? I don't want to sit at your bar and see "let's go Brandon" or "end of Obama countdown" stickers. I would find it equally dumb if they had Harris/Walz stickers, but at least it wouldn't be a euphemism for "F*** Joe Biden," which besides being absolutely disrespectful is utterly crass. You lost a potential $3,000/year customer because you had to be a d-bag. Nice. I won't be back, not even on someone else's dime.

Food: I ordered the WING combo (comes with fries and a drink) and my hubby order the Philly Cheesesteak and Wing combo (comes with a drink). The wings were solid. I had half Honey BBQ and Sweet Chili (spicy). If you like saucy wings, which I do, these are it. The fries were not my favorite. NOT A PARTICLE OF SALT. Not a one. I tried my husbands Cheesesteak, and it was good! I'd order if I return. Service: *deep sigh* The guy that took our order was VERY SHORT with us. Slightly, rude. Really rubbed us both the wrong way. Like, dude, I see why this place is EMPTY! He was not helpful, even after we told him this was our first visit. We didn't feel welcomed at all. Felt as if we were bothering him. The food was not good enough to make up for the not so warm welcome we've received. Probably won't be back.

Do you not appreciate still being able to make money during this pandemic? Act like it man. Today I ordered a philly with Honey lemon pepper wings. I noticed when he was ringing me up that my wings were mild with lemon pepper. I DONT EAT HOT SAUCE. In fact I ALWAYS order honey lemon pepper. When I corrected him instead of just trying to fix my order he told me that I ordered that and tried to just make me go away. What kind of customer service?! If a customer tells you their order is wrong after they have paid for it YOU FIX IT. Yeah you F'd up in my book I won't be back. I'll drive my happy self down to wing stop where they can at least greet you when you walk in the door..... Btw google says this location is permanently closed and I feel like that's a good suggestion per the terrible customer service.
