Why haven't I been eating here more? My husband and I went for a weekday lunch. The prices are incredibly reasonable for the portion and quality of food. He had the southwest flap (wrap) with hot peri peri sauce and I had the jo-"burg"-er which is actually a chicken sandwich with sweet heat peri peri sauce. The flap was delicious and put on a press so it had a crispy exterior. The hot sauce was true to its name. And the wrap was filled with delicious veggies. The chicken sandwich had good flavor but the large size of the chicken breast made it difficult to eat. The bun however was soft on the exterior and had the most wonderful crispy edge on the interior that I've ever had. Also had a size of black beans and rice; great flavor, but overwhelmingly rice predominant. Wouldn't order the chicken sandwich again, but will 100% be back for the flap/wrap and am sad for all the lunchtimes I didn't know to come to this place. read more

The only reason I gave it a low review, restaurants do it all the time. they stop cooking before they close and break down while customers are still there. I always recommend taking the last to go order customer at the closing time and last dining order 30 minutes before closing. You drive all the way there and get there with in 15 minutes of closing, look at the menu, then the hey tell you they shut off all the equipment. read more

I came for lunch and I thought it was different to say the least. This cafe is located in a health food store. I got a turkey sandwich to go. I wasn't disappointed, but I really wasn't impressed either. I haven't gone back since and honestly probably won't. There are other places in Augusta that are way better. read more

This place is not just quality in product, but in the final product. I always appreciate the effort that goes into serving a all natural menu, but I really appreciate when it also tastes good. Their wrap and their soup are my go-to when I come here. It may throw you off the first time you visit, as the store side is in the front. But tucked away in the back is one of the best lunch spots around (they are only open 11 am-4 pm). There are sandwiches, smoothies, juices, and even wheatgrass. Being January, I need to get back over there and start the year off right. *Insider's Tip -The only place I know of that has organic mead (or mead at all). -Go ahead and get a bottle of the sauce. Who would have thought there would be a Peri peri Chicken place in Augusta? After trying Nando's in DC a few years ago, I've been obsessed ever since. DiChicko's has a simple menu with your choice of sandwiches, salads, wraps, and a couple of entrees. You pick the spice level of peri peri sauce that your chicken is cooked in, and then there are several different bottles of sauces to add as much more as you want. It's a really unique place and the atmosphere is super cool. I loved this place. The chicken itself was kinda plain, it's just a grilled chicken breast, but all the sauces really bring it alive. If you've never tried peri peri chicken you MUST give this place a try. If you have, you already know it's going to be delicious! read more

This is one of my Augusta favorites. It's the definition of hidden gem. The storefront is a health food store and tucked away in the back is a full restaurant, DiChicko's! I've visited here on several occasions. I've ordered food to-go, dined in and dropped by for a smoothie on the run too. The only thing that makes my visits less frequent is the traffic on Washington Road during prime eating hours. However, if I plan accordingly I can get in and out with no traffic trouble. On my latest visit I had the I had a veggie wrap. It had a specific menu name, which I forgot. But I do have a photo. It was great and filling. I didn't have it with any side items. I took the food to-go because I have a few other stops. The staff is nice and I've always had a pleasant experience here. The parking is pretty good. They're located in a plaza so depending on the time of day, parking is pretty easy. After driving out to Augusta for a meeting, a colleague and I were looking for something quick to grab before the drive back to Atlanta. I checked yelp and saw this sandwich shop highly reviewed. The location is a little odd, it's behind a healthy grocery store in a strip mall, I even ran inside to check if it was the right place. Everyone was very friendly, we even chatted with some ladies who stop by regularly, they all raved about the food. We ordered a few wraps, one southwest style and one peri peri style. DiChicko's Peri Peri Café is located on a strip plaza on Washington road right off the I-20 exit. They are located inside the New Life Natural Foods. This café has it all from Fresh Juices, Protein/Power Smoothies, Wraps, Clubs, Melts, Panninis, and Salad. They are even reasonable with pricing and foods are organic/natural. Their specialty chicken is marinated in peri-peri marinade (South African Pepper made). They also carry their own sauces (Peri-Peri MARINADE, Peri-Peri WING SAUCE, MILD Peri-Peri Sauce, GARLIC Peri-Peri Sauce, LEMON & HERB Peri-Peri , HOT Peri-Peri SAUCE and more..)which is famous you can purchase by the bottle. My mom was very fascinated with DiChicko's and was very indecisive on ordering. They had a great selection of meals on their menu. My mom ended up getting the Combo ($8.49) Mahi Mahi Panini and Fire Roasted Vegetable Soup. For the sauce, my mom got the mild. I got the Alaskan Salmon Salad ($8.49)- Wild Alaskan Salmon, Avocado, Walnuts, cranberries, onions over spring mix. As for my sauce, I got the Garlic. The gentleman that was helping us was VERY friendly, patient and helpful. We had so many questions and didn't mind it. Our drinks we got water. They have a section for filtered H2O which was very nice. I really enjoyed our meal! I couldn't believe the cheap pricing and great quality! When I saw "peri-peri" on the sign, I made a U-turn for this place. I was hoping for some good South African food. None of that here but they do make their own peri-peri sauces. We had the chicken club panini's - chicken breast, turkey bacon & provolone. You select the amount of heat you want on your sandwich. We selected medium and it definitely had a kick! Holy hell this place is delicious! Working close by, I've wanted to try this location for lunch and I finally got the opportunity. I got the peri-peri wrap with garlic sauce and it was fantastic. Often when Southerners make wraps, the different foods get bunched up into separate bites but this was not the case. Every single bite was a maximization of ingredients and flavors! The cafe is located inside a Natural Foods store which itself is inside Mary Poppins' purse. This place just gives me good vibes...make you wanna be a better person on the inside ya know? So here's an update: Went here again two days ago (7/31/17) and ordered the turkey club panini with choice of chips and a cookie. Panini: Super healthy without TASTING super healthy- Everything just tastes REAL...no complaints here. The panini was a good size (not too big or too small). It was toasted just right and the meat portion was a good amount with huge flavor. Sides: I was surprised to see that even the chips were healthy- made with no bs ingredients. The cookie (which was good) was soooo itsy bitsy...they should call it a crumb! But I get it...I can't expect to eat like a saveage in a healthy place like this. My eyes got greedy, so I decided to get one of thier big cookies (lemon poppyseed). The ingredients are non dairy, no hydrogenated crap or preservatives etc. But it was super moist, and not too sweet either! This is a great hidden gem that'll give you the feels! :) read more

DiChicko's is one of my favorite lunch spots in Augusta - it's relatively inexpensive, healthy, and best of all, delicious. It's located inside the New Life Natural Foods health store, so it's always fun perusing through the aisles as your lunch is being prepared. I usually order their sandwich + side (salad, roasted veggies, etc.) combo, which is a great option if you're indecisive like me and want a bit of variety in your lunch. Even though I'm not the biggest fan of wraps, their Peri Peri flaps and avocado turkey sandwiches definitely hit the spot. And if you order a sandwich, whatever you do, don't forget the Perinaise sauce!! There are also a variety of juice and smoothie options available, and you can even request your own combination of veggies/fruits. I've been meaning to try a number of their fresh juices, but I always cave in and end up ordering sweet tea whenever I'm in the South... however, I've tried the freshly juiced Dr. Oz Green Drink (cucumber, celery, spinach kale, apple, lemon, ginger, lemon) and it was exactly what I was looking for in a green juice (not going to lie and say it was delicious because not everyone's palettes are the same; my boyfriend took a sip and asked why on earth anyone would ever drink green juice :P). I love this place. I actually learned about DiChickos bc my husband won a gift card from a race he won. I like how they're very involved in the local community and are even on TV. Now on to the food.... The food is great. The pernaise sauce is awesome. My go to lunch here is the DiChickos bowl medium. Which is their mild....but I'm a spice wuss so I'm good with the heat level. The ingredients are always fresh and the chicken on point. There isn't a lot of seating room in their small cafe, so I usually take mine to go. The staff is always nice. Free wifi! read more

Wow! What a cool place. I've been trying to get here for a while, and in the midst of the holiday shuffle It finally happened! Popped in for lunch today. I had the chicken club Panini, with my chicken medium and the rice and beans side. I used my yelp check in benefit and got a free cookie! I will admit I did not use the peri peri sauce, I have plentiful food allergies and sauces scare me. I didn't eat a ton of my rice and beans as they had been topped with raw onions and I am allergic to onions. The sandwich was very good, the right ratio of chicken to Turkey bacon to cheese. I found the turkey bacon can be hit or miss, and I thought that this was very good. All the staff was super friendly, from the girls at the counter taking the order to the guys who bring out the food. The ambience is funky-this place is tucked back behind their natural market. They have counter seating booths and small round tables as well. I was there around 1 o'clock, and while they had what I wanted to order they did have a list by the register of the things that they had run out of. I don't know if this is the norm or just because we're coming up on Christmas so it may be that you need to get here early to get the best selection. Wow! I never expected such a jewel of a restaurant when I walked in to the New Life Natural Food Store. In the back of the store is a little cafe with tables and booths. You place your order at the counter and seat yourself. When your order is ready it is brought to your seat. I enjoyed a Peri-peri Flap which was a grilled wrap and a cup of roasted red pepper and gouda soup. My lunch companions ordered a variety of sandwiches, quesadillas and salads. The ingredients were fresh and tasty with different types of sauces you could add as desired. I observed a lot of customers picking up takeout orders also. Since I'm in the city of Augusta visiting my sister, I figured I'd make my way around the area palate-wise in efforts to really experience her stomping ground through taste. I can't get enough of cute lunch joints that have mom and pop written all over them. This cafe qualifies for sure. It is located in the back of a health food/wellness type store front that has neat things from organic-sulfate free shampoos to great smelling soaps to herbal supplements and green food options for their customers' purview. Smart business as I'm sure this allows the cafe to share rent with another business, and both businesses can serve to promote for each other. As you make your way to the back and reach the cafe you can order up a series of panini, salad, and flap (wraps) type options that sound delicious. Everything from Turkey and avocado to their famous peri peri chicken combinations are available. I like going for anything with peri peri because it tells me it's going to contain lots of spice and a little bit of heat- which I am always game for. I chose the peri peri chicken salad panini (half and half) and paired it with their side salad. I was very happy with the meal and thought it was a great deal overall in terms of price. It came out fast. The panini was still warm with a nice crust to it. I really liked that it was just the right toast on the sandwich. Often times I get paninis and they can be really soggy and undertoasted, especially with a wet middle like a chicken salad. And although the chicken salad was tasty- everything you would expect, some crunch with the nuts, some sweetness with some grape slices, and the creaminess of the mayo and chicken, it was a little lacking in spice and kick to me. I was slightly disappointed that it didn't have that punch of heat I was expecting with peri peri. I tasted the sweetness, but definitely missed the heat. They do however sell their own store-made peri peri sauces. I'd be interested in purchasing one next time I go and trying it to get the full unadulterated flavor of that peri peri flavor in order to give it a second review. Perhaps the mayo in the salad just drowned it out? Too bad. Either way, it was good. Just didn't wow my taste buds. The salad was really nice and light and refreshing. Definitely what I was searching for since I was in the mood for a lunch that felt and tasted on the lighter side. Nice crisp cut veggies in small easy to eat bites over a bed of arugula topped with a flavorful and light vinaigrette. Lovely side salad in my opinion. Would definitely get it again. A great little place inside a organic foods shoppe. Everything was delicious! The wrap was well made and flavorful, the quesadilla was delicious and fresh, and the Peri Peri sauce is probably one of the best hot sauces I've ever had! If you're in the area there's no reason not to stop by for a great meal. The food did take a little long to come out but that's because they make it totally fresh. It tastes super healthy, too. My father and I had lunch here on a Sunday and it was wonderful! It is hidden in the back of the Natural Foods shop, and it is the perfect place to study or have a quiet lunch. The food was delicious--I got the Mahi Mahi Melt and Dad got the DiChickO's bowl. Mine came with a side of apple slices and peanut butter. Both of enjoyed our selections but I plan to get the Peri Peri flap next time. Mine was large enough for leaving half the sandwich for lunch later. Also, they publish rough nutritional facts online which is kind of cool! Also, I was easily able to redeem the Yelp deal they had for a free giant gluten-free cookie (which was great).
