It's been 5 years, but dinner for 2 here last night. The service was great, our server returned a couple of times to check on our waters for refill. They also have a very nice electronic payment system now, so much better than the stand at the exit where you used to pay the tab. The menu is interesting, most all the dishes are priced based on the protein you select. Makes it simple. They now have a selection of spice/heat levels of 0-4. We are wimps and went for level 1, which turned out just perfect. My wife had the pad thai with chicken and really liked it. I tried the curry noodles with mixed seafood (see photo) and it was great. Lots of mussels in there which I really enjoyed and some nice bits of octopus and a fair number of shrimp. We were really pleased and will have to start coming here more often. read more

Fantastic food! I love a good Thai ice tea too, and they did not disappoint. I had the chicken Pad Thai and it was delicious! We also shared some fried calamari(also excellent). Can't believe we hadn't dined at Mali Thai before now - it was outstanding! Didn't realize what we were missing! Delicious flavors, warm, friendly, accommodating service, nice quiet ambiance, easy parking. The pad Thai was excellent. Plump, tasty shrimp, great perfectly cooked noodles, good portion size, and they put the peanuts on the outer edge of the plate so you can control the peanut level. Sauce was really flavorful, and not too sweet. Woke up the taste buds. Classic fried rice may have been even better! Apparently we've been settling for subpar fried rice lo these many years at Asian restaurants. That stops now. Mali Thai has nailed it. And we stuck with spice level zero which was fine for us. We might kick it up to the one level next time, but we saw nothing wrong with level zero. Managed to be extremely flavorful without being too spicy. Plus, we got chili oil and Sriracha on the side so you could add to it. And by the way, the chili oil is great. The wonton soup was full of wontons and protein, and maybe even a little light on the broth and that might be the one place I might kick up the spice level - the broth wasn't all that flavorful like the pad Thai and fried rice were. And as I mentioned, the service was really great. Plus they had Pinot Grigio, which not every Asian restaurant does. We'll definitely return. read more

I'm really glad I found good Thai food in Tucson. I tried the yum nuah, som tom, sticky rice and drunken noodles and everything was excellent. The location is easy to find with plenty of parking. I was super excited to try this place since it was close to us and had flown under my radar. The reviews seemed so promising. We ordered pad Thai, pad see ew, and tom kha soup. We walked in and ordered take out. The staff is incredibly nice and the food was out fast and very hot. The pad see ew noodles were all stuck together and just tasted salty. Not on the sweeter side like I'm used to. The pad Thai was ok, no lime was given and the chicken was sparse. The flavor is ok but nothing special. The tom kha was good but was lacking the more complex flavors that I'm used to. I'll be finishing it but hopefully the hubby finishes the pad see ew. I really hate writing bad reviews. Well, on their behalf, they were having a very busy night. But we sat there for 15 minutes before ever even getting a glass of water or being acknowledged.! We showed up on a Friday night. I have no idea why this place was not busy because the food was fresh and wonderful, the staff friendly. Clearly a family mom and pop, just love it. Really easy to navigate menu where you choose what you want and then choose the protein you want. So good! Very highly recommend, especially over the others in the area which are all chain restaurants. They totally deserve to get more business on a Friday night - go see them you won't regret it. My husband was craving for Drunken Noodles and I found this place in Yelp. Not too far from home. The place is not that big, but it's well kept , tables are clean and everything is in place. Only two girls working on the floor, but they managed to serve our food on time. Place is not busy when we came. Food is really good, but smaller serving than other places we've been. So far everything we tried has good flavor, nice presentation just a little pricey. But will definitely be back, we want to try more from their menu. read more

Just had the worst experience here. I ordered a pad woon sen with a spice.... The spice was unbelievably spicy. I don't believe this was a spice level 2. I called telling them that not only is it unbearable but I can't even inhale while I put it in my mouth without coughing. I love spicy food. But this was waaaaay more than a 2. The MT as I call it, is located in a strip mall near Safeway. The parking is awful. There is always a chance that you drive around and around to be somewhat close, then realize this isn't the best place in the world to eat, and drive away. That's the problem with MT. There are exactly two legit Thai places in Oro Valley. Two. And one "street thai" which apparently leaves out yellow curry, who knew..Anyway, their service stinks and the food is a hit and miss. Inside the MT, it's a tiny shoebox. Limited room, so best to do order to go, because they are not on any food service delivery. The food I've been here twice. So you can trust me. Heck, just the other day, as in yesterday, was round two. We ordered the eggplant and basil dish, with no proteins. Plus yellow curry with chicken and Pad eew-ekk (or something like that) with chicken. We told them, mild on the yellow, mild on eggplant, medium on the pad eew. Of course, they got it wrong. The eggplant was medium, which was a good spice level for it, but some folks might find it too hot, the others were mild, which I found to me, mild means very little to no spice. Medium with Pad eew was a must, which again, they failed to do. The Pad eew, was yummy. Egg noodles, with carrots, broccoli and cabbage. But it lacked any sauce per se. I was expecting some sauce intertwined, not like dipping, just something. Regardless it's a winner. The yellow curry was a dud. They should call it onion yellow curry, because the dish was loaded with white onions. Carrots were minimal and potatoes too. The chicken was on top of the dish, err takeaway bowl/cup and it was lukewarm to boot. We live about 10 minutes away, and this baby was lukewarm at best. The other two? Pad eew was lukewarm and the eggplant was hot. I've ordered at other places further away and you get home and the dishes are still toasty. So a minus there. Plus the yellow Onion curry was a dud, unless you love lots of white onions in your dish. The previous time, we had the eggplant with basil and Tofu, still good. And I had Pad Thai with Tofu, and it was a yucker. On the scale of bad thai, were 10 means that wild animals should not be offered this, let alone space aliens and 1 means okay, this could have been good, if they didn't make it, I place this as a 3. I eat a lot of thai, and Pad Thai is a common dish, but just like goulash (very common in Hungary, recommend a visit) how it is prepared, makes all the difference in the world. Ordered carry out on a Sunday - took about 15 min to prepare. The restaurant was empty when I came for pick up. Casual ambiance. I judge most places by their Pad Thai. This was definitely above average for Tucson, but it was a bit dry. Lots of noodles with very little seasoning or sauce. This was a stark contrast to the drunken noodles which were delish, seasoned well and just overall well done. The green curry was also a solid dish, but a bit under seasoned. We stopped in to Mali Thai, and this quaint restaurants did not disappoint! It was close our home, had great reviews, and a friend also recommended it. The wait and kitchen staff were super friendly and attentive, taking the time to help out with menu suggestions, keeping our drinks topped off, and in a very short time, we had piping hot dishes at our table. My wife got the green curry, while I had the Pad See Ew. Her curry had a wonderfully flavorful, light broth...she enjoyed it throughly. The eggplant was scrumptious! My Pad See Ew also was loaded with flavorful noodles, veggies, and meats. I got the combination plate, and the shrimp, beef, and chicken were high quality. We will be back many more times to investigate the rest of their menu...this is now our favorite Thai eatery in T-town! read more

Not impressed with this place at all. Tuk tuk thai is sooo much better in every way. First of all, don't expect a lot of meat with your meal. Three pieces in each dish? Really? The food was bland and cheap noodles are used. Also, their spice rating is totally off. Be aware that they have a nasty note on their website stating if it's too spicy, no refunds. I really like this place. Their "Thai hot" is, for me, just right, which is rare when it comes to spice. This level is right at that point where it doesn't cross the line such that all other flavors are obliterated by capsaicin. I commend them on finding that line. The food is well-made, without a lot of gloopy sauces. The produce tastes and looks fresh. I've had all of their curries now and no complaints on any of them. As for pad thai, the old crowd-pleaser, happy with this too. I really want them to stay in business and haven't been let down yet. I've been there, I think, eight times now. read more
