I loooove Thai but just haven't found THE place in Tucson yet. There are a couple of "solid" offerings in town (including their sister restaurant Tuk Tuk) but not rave-worthy like I've had in Chgo or Phx... until now. Kin Dee's family story is well represented by Chelsea and other reviewers so I'll just dive in. The venue itself is above-norm, approaching casual elegance vs typical SE Asian touristy. The wait time to order during peak times, as others have flagged, is long but tolerable. Fortunately, food delivery is prompt and absolutely delicious. We got the Khao Soi Braised Beef #23 and the Garlic Pork w/ Thai Style Omelette #39. The braised beef was ample for the serving and ridiculously tender, albeit with a few fatty edges. The broth is also curry-based which was a persuasive factor to motivate me away from my normal faves: green or yellow curry (I love that spicy/coconut-milk combo). The garlic pork was even more ample in protein and was just as much a feast for the palate as for the eyes. The (naturally colored) blue rice and whipped egg were great accompaniments to the lightly sauced if slightly dry (lean) pork. We washed everything down with a bottle of house cabernet (the vineyard was not memorable Lol) but at $20, it was reasonably priced. We took some of the garlic pork to-go so that we could enjoy their dessert of the day (not on the menu so just ask) mango sticky rice! At $9 it too was priced within reason. The mango was excellent - a whole, sliced, ripe, no bruises, yet still firm mango (the decisive factor so often missed) and the rice was just the right texture and (equally crucial) warmed! Notes: Parking is free/easy in this medium-sized strip mall. Although on the higher pricing end, Kin-Dee remains a good Thai dinner buy. Also, any dish that isn't otherwise pictured with rice (but ought to come with it, such as Tom Kha) will cost extra for that side. Finally, be mindful that tax is included into the "sub total" that you are given for tip calculations. read more

This place got great reviews so we decided to try it. The online ordering process was easy - beware they do charge a fee for that. We ordered the Pad Thai Chicken with extra chicken since we were sharing. That extra chicken cost an additional $3. The dinner ended up being around $24.00, but the portion was very big. The food itself was ok. It was very dry and we had to add in some of our own sauce. You can request extra but of course, it's an additional charge. read more

Tried the new Kin Dee Thai, located in the Williams Center where Monkey Burger used to be. The restaurant is clean, open, inviting, and surprisingly (to me!) busy on a Wednesday afternoon. My favorite dining companion (my hub doesn't count because he is not an adventuresome eater) and I were looking forward to something new and we were not disappointed. We started with the Kin Dee Satay, presented as four glasses of the most tender and tasty chicken on sticks, peanut sauce, a pickled cucumber/carrot/parsnip? salad and toast soldiers. For her entree, my pal had the braised beef curry, delish and so tender. Puff pastry pieces accompanied, perfect for sopping up the luscious peanut sauce. This place was a lot bigger inside than expected. I got the ube matcha which was very delicious, and I am picky about my matcha drinks. The food was just ok. I got fried shrimp and one of the pieces still had batter on it, so I couldn't eat it. Personally, we wouldn't come back for the food but maybe for the drinks. read more

Ok, I am super critical of Thai restaurants that claim to be authentic. I was able to spend several weeks in Thailand and finding something that isn't over sweetened and Americanized is hard. That being said, this place is very very close to I enjoyed chicken basil. Was only slightly sweetened compared to what I'm used to. Also it was extremely flavorful. The servers were awesome and explained things to everyone who had questions. I sat at their bar for ease. They have a very cute outdoor seating area and I love the mix of desert and Thai vibe they have going. I think it's very well done. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and I finally got the chance. I sat at the bar with a friend and tried several menu items. The bar attendants were friendly and the food came out quickly. It's a good place to watch sports for those who are into that kind of thing. The night I was there they had several TVs tuned into different events. I had the crab fried rice, curry puffs, and mango sticky rice. It was a tough decision because there were several things on the menu I wanted to try, plus their really cool-sounding drinks. The fried rice was so delicious, and a large portion, so I got to take some home. The curry puffs had such a great flavor and would be filling on their own if you were up for a smaller portion. The mango sticky rice was sweet yet not too sugary, the rice had just the right amount of sugar and the mango supplied the rest! Yum, Yum, Yum. What more is there to say. Three of us shared an appetizer and then sampled one another's dishes and they were just yum. The drinks were also great. The service was a bit slow but extremely friendly. The place isn't fancy, but one feels welcome. Would we go back? A unanimous yes. By the way, they offer blue rice, which has become a thing recently. I thought it had a slightly different taste; my friends thought it the same as white. The interior will beautiful! Lots of lights and open space. And polite servers! A new Thai place in town with a more limited meal that appears less customizable than other Thai places, BUT with a try. When I say less customizable, I mean that I don't see spice level or protein adjustments mentioned on the menu, unlike at other Thai places. Thai tea and coconut water drinks were excellent. Refreshing and not overly sweet. If you like sweeter drinks, maybe it's not for you. The Garlic Shrimp rice dish was perfectly flavored with blue rice. Definitely will get again. The only surprise here was the shrimp itself was not crispy, but the flavors are there. The Shrimp Pad Thai was on point. The flavors you want from a Thai place are here for sure! We ordered delivery and it was a mixed bag. The panang curry with chicken, medium hot, was very tasty and a beautiful dish with the blue rice (which we'd never had before!). The curry puffs were fine, like flaky samosas. However, the pad thai was honestly terrible. Dry and bland, maybe appropriate for your friend who doesn't like Thai food? It really had no flavor; I said it tasted like brown. I put a little curry on it and threw half of it away. Major waste of $22. read more

Came here on a Friday night and was surprised to be seated right away. They have a wall that can open up to the patio and they had it open since the weather was nice. It's important to note that there is a cigar bar located next door. With the wall open at allowed for the smell of strong cigar smoke to enter the building. Those on the patio eating were making comments about it as well. Smell is important when it comes to food and this made for a less than desirable dining experience. We started with the curry puffs which came out much smaller than they appear in the picture on the menu. But the flavor was great. The chicken satay tasted good as well, but was also small compared to other Thai places. I also ordered the Kruah Gai noodle which was tasty. Overall the food tasted great. Cool newer Thai spot on the east side of town that features a unique menu of dishes that I haven't seen at the other Thai restaurants in the area. There are options for small plates and for main entrees (the portion sizes for the mains are big!) as well as interesting drinks besides the standard. We shared the love triangle tortilla pockets - super flavorful, well-seasoned mix of meat/seafood; reminds me of a flattened version of an egg roll. For my main, I had the crab fried rice which has big chunks of lump crab meat - a bit on the saltier side, but pretty good. My husband had the garlic pork with Thai style omelet which comes with the Anchan flower rice which he enjoyed. Food was 10/10. I got the crab fried rice ($23) and the pandan crepe cake. WOW is all I can say. The crab fried rice was perfectly seasoned and cooked with a good portion. The crab was tender and so so flavorful. Thoroughly impressed I can get this in Arizona. This is a STEP ABOVE. The crepe cake was mind blowing. Not too sweet but perfect flavorful. Pandan is called "Asian Vanilla" bc it is a nutty, almond, vanilla like flavor. The coconut crème on the side was pure joy. It was so fresh and coconuty in a natural refreshing way. It was pricey at $9 but it was soooo gooood. My girl is vegan and she got the kruah gai noddles with tofu, curry puffs, Thai tea and the mango sticky rice. The curry puffs were fantastic. I would absolutely order. I thought the noodles were okay but she enjoyed it. She did mention the portion was smaller. She got her Thai tea with coconut and it was so refreshing with great flavor! I had never had mango sticky rice before but it was interesting. I didn't know it was warm but the rice was delicious. I believe it's their pandan infused rice used in their main dishes. Delicious!!! The mango was also ripe. The desserts are rotating but I hope the pandan cake stays!!! Good Thai spot! Their menu is relatively small with items that I consider "elevated" dishes. There's a handful of rice dishes with a couple curry and noodle options. We had the Pad Thai Shrimp and the Panang Braised Beef Curry, both of which exceeded our expectations. Presentation is beautiful though! Finally found a Thai restaurant in Tucson that I love! The service was excellent, the place was clean and tastefully decorated. The pad Thai with shrimp was a standout, loaded with bold flavors and nicely sized shrimp. First impression not very good at all. This new restaurant is pretty simple in its decor, however, looking at the menu I had high hopes for the food. I ordered Thai French toast. I have eaten it many times before in other places and loved them. So they have their own interpretation which is cool, I love to try new flavors and combinations. Their Thai toast is essentially slices of wonder bread covered with cornflakes, side salad which had wilted carrots and tom yum sauce. No complaints about the sauce, mushrooms and the tomatoes and the shrimp, they went very well together. Their Thai toast however was too simple and tasteless. I expect better quality of produce for the price as well. This dish was 18.50. I also ordered a strawberry lemonade for 7.50. It did not taste like lemonade. Just very sweet water without any hint on citrus. It had fresh crushed strawberries in it ... I actually think I will come back here in a while because I want to give some other dishes a chance and I will update this review at that time, however, for now it's a total fail. read more

This restaurant is so quaint and beautiful. I really appreciated their caffeine free drink options and tried the strawberry Thai basil lemonade - phenomenal! We were craving Thai food on our trip to Tucson and decided to check out this place after seeing the online menu with photos. The khao soi with braised beef was amazing and we would definitely get that again. We also got the kai palo which was the five spice pork belly with eggs and the pork belly was delicious but the eggs were a rubbery texture and hard to eat. Not sure what happened there because my mom makes this dish and the eggs are my favorite part. We will check this place out again next time we are in town but will probably order something else instead of the kai palo next time. We do recommend the kao soi! read more

I was a tad hesitant to try Kin Dee Thai because I knew that it's the same family restaurant of Tuk Tuk Thai which doesn't really hit the spot for me when I crave my favorite Thai dishes like spicy red curry and tom kha soup. However I pass by it by foot after a class I take at a nearby park and the menu here looked different enough than other Thai places and more fusion/ creative/ modern so I figured I'd try an appetizer without expecting the Thai flavors I typically crave. I ended up trying the curry puffs which I enjoyed and liked the little salad they came with. I also tried the Avocado yum salad with tofu (I asked for fried tofu, it usually comes with steamed). I wished the tofu was more fried but the salad was light and good. it had some arugula in it which I enjoyed. Not what I am craving when going out for Thai typically but I enjoyed it as a fresh good salad and it was great as light fresh lunch on my walk after class. My favorite part though was how sweet the owner was on my second visit. She was making some complimentary Khanom krok rice- coconut pancakes that morning and gave me some to try. When she saw I enjoyed them she not only brought me more but also taught me how to make them! She was so warm and sweet. I loved the Khanom krok rice- coconut pancakes that were topped with green onions in particular and also the ones topped with shredded taro. The ambiance is nice here. I like that they have outdoor seating. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! I've been here several times. It's a different take on the typical Thai that you normally get at other Thai restaurants, at least different to me. The flavors are balanced, dishes are aesthetically pleasing, and everything is freshly done and made well. I haven't gotten the same thing twice, and now that they've expanded their menu to twice what they were offering before, I'm drawn back over and over because there are so many I want to try. I've only had one thing that I haven't liked, and that was the Khao Kai Palo, which had pork belly that was too tough to pleasantly chew. (I'm wondering if Thai just has a different way of prepping pork belly, because we've never had good experience with it in Thai dishes.) But the Khao Man Gai is refreshingly clean, the Shrimp Pad Thai has great flavor and texture, and I loved the Thai French Toast dish that I had on my most recent visit. It was different in a good way! I dare say this place is better than Tuk Tuk Thai, and these are the same owners! Keep up the great work!! read more

Staff was exceptional. Daughter was our waitress and she mentioned mom makes the savoury food and desserts. Our group got 4 different Mita's Magic Refreshers and they were all delicious so highly recommend them, they really are refreshing! We got a chance to sit outside but a couple of doors down is a vet so our meal was constantly interrupted by barking. Keep that in mind if sitting outside. The Khao Kai Palo was the table's favorite. Super flavorful, good sized portion, and really filling. The Pad Thai was the other fave. We've had lots of different versions of this dish and this one is one of our top three we've ever had so really strong flavors, didn't skimp on the protein, a must have. This place is a gem! Inviting space with indoor and outdoor seating. Everything and I mean everything we ordered was aromatic, flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. My dining partner is a french toast snob but willingly ordered and ate every morsel of the Thai French toast. I personally could eat the French toast alone without any accompaniments and be satisfied. The Panang braised beef curry was melt in your mouth tender and tasty.... and that fluffy egg on top of the Anchan Flower rice was soooo good. Limited menu with few options for proteins & spice levels, uneven food quality. Four for lunch today, including some with extensive Thai food experience. The menu was disappointing with few options, but had some interesting dishes - I had the pork belly which you almost never see on Thai menus. We were not asked what heat level we wanted, but the server did bring us a tray of chili oil when we asked for it. The food came out one plate at a time with 5-10 minutes between deliveries. I don't like that, it is very uncomfortable for those that get their food earlier. The pad thai was undercooked - the noodles were really tough to eat. My pork belly was good, but the pork really should be served crispy. All the dishes that came with rice had blue rice, which I've never seen before. Not a bad thing, but some folks may not care for blue colored rice. Prices were pretty average, but it would be nice if they had a lunch menu with smaller portions and prices. I went here with Friends some weeks ago, after seeing it online posted by others. It was a more casual vibe and was smaller than I was expecting as well. The service was very personable and friendly, and the food was good too. The execution of it all I do think can be improved though, as my group's food came at various times, seemingly whenever. For instance, appetizers did not come before some of the food entrées. And the food entrées kinda came one by one, across time..maybe whenever they were ready? I'm not sure, but it was strange for a dining experience with others. The crab fried rice ($23) was so much bigger than I imagined and definitely the best thing I ate that night . The honey lemonade drink ($7.5 ) was not bad, as was a love triangle tortilla pockets ($11.5) & the kindee satay ($9.5). I love the presentation of the satay with the multiple components. Lastly I was feeling hungry, so I also ordered the Madalyn beef curry ($18.5) as well (thinking the crab fried rice was going to be a small serving). I didn't love it initially, as it reminded me more of a kind of a pot roast like dish, and less like a curry I'm used to (probably my fault when trying out Thai food with other expectations), but upon taking it home, I did like the leftovers better. Lastly, I got a Taro cheesecake, but was disappointed. I usually love taro flavors, but this lacked any pronounced flavor to me and really just tasted like your average cheesecake sadly. Came here for a dinner around 5pm on a weeknight and service was fast, attentive, and friendly. The atmosphere is clean and inviting. They have lovely presentation, but more importantly the food tastes great! I had the panang beef curry and the beef was super tender/melt in your mouth. Tried two of the matcha drinks - the coconut water one, which was super light and refreshing, and the ube one, which was pretty sweet but the matcha and ube flavors both came through.
