    Chicken basil
    Jani M.

Ok, I am super critical of Thai restaurants that claim to be authentic. I was able to spend several weeks in Thailand and finding something that isn't over sweetened and Americanized is hard. That being said, this place is very very close to I enjoyed chicken basil. Was only slightly sweetened compared to what I'm used to. Also it was extremely flavorful. The servers were awesome and explained things to everyone who had questions. I sat at their bar for ease. They have a very cute outdoor seating area and I love the mix of desert and Thai vibe they have going. I think it's very well done.

We tried this place for the first time and I left happy. We got the Curry puffs were good it was a Thai style empanada stuffed w curry potatoes onion and pickled cucumbers My husband got the #46 Pad Kee Mao I got the #41 Thai Chicken Basil it was fresh flavorful and the service was fantastic the ambiance is sleek modern and very cool. I loved the presentation it was excellent I will be back the tally was $42 not bad it was well worth it. The Portions were huge!!

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and I finally got the chance. I sat at the bar with a friend and tried several menu items. The bar attendants were friendly and the food came out quickly. It's a good place to watch sports for those who are into that kind of thing. The night I was there they had several TVs tuned into different events. I had the crab fried rice, curry puffs, and mango sticky rice. It was a tough decision because there were several things on the menu I wanted to try, plus their really cool-sounding drinks. The fried rice was so delicious, and a large portion, so I got to take some home. The curry puffs had such a great flavor and would be filling on their own if you were up for a smaller portion. The mango sticky rice was sweet yet not too sugary, the rice had just the right amount of sugar and the mango supplied the rest! I'm looking forward to returning to try more menu items soon!

First timer! I've heard so much about this restaurant online so my friends and I stopped here after Tucson festival of books because we were starving! I recommend sharing the yum (avocado) salad because it's a big portion but honestly all dishes seem to be big portions! I wish the chicken pad Thai came with some lime. Overall very delicious and I can't wait to come back!

Came here on a Friday night and was surprised to be seated right away. They have a wall that can open up to the patio and they had it open since the weather was nice. It's important to note that there is a cigar bar located next door. With the wall open at allowed for the smell of strong cigar smoke to enter the building. Those on the patio eating were making comments about it as well. Smell is important when it comes to food and this made for a less than desirable dining experience. We started with the curry puffs which came out much smaller than they appear in the picture on the menu. But the flavor was great. The chicken satay tasted good as well, but was also small compared to other Thai places. I also ordered the Kruah Gai noodle which was tasty. Overall the food tasted great. I just wish the cigar smoke wasn't overwhelming and the portions on the appetizers were larger.

The interior will beautiful! Lots of lights and open space. And polite servers! A new Thai place in town with a more limited meal that appears less customizable than other Thai places, BUT with a try. When I say less customizable, I mean that I don't see spice level or protein adjustments mentioned on the menu, unlike at other Thai places. Thai tea and coconut water drinks were excellent. Refreshing and not overly sweet. If you like sweeter drinks, maybe it's not for you. The Garlic Shrimp rice dish was perfectly flavored with blue rice. Definitely will get again. The only surprise here was the shrimp itself was not crispy, but the flavors are there. The Shrimp Pad Thai was on point. The flavors you want from a Thai place are here for sure! The Mango Sticky Rice desert is the perfect balance of sweet mangos with cooked sticky rice and a coconut sauce to bring the dish together nicely.

Cool newer Thai spot on the east side of town that features a unique menu of dishes that I haven't seen at the other Thai restaurants in the area. There are options for small plates and for main entrees (the portion sizes for the mains are big!) as well as interesting drinks besides the standard. We shared the love triangle tortilla pockets - super flavorful, well-seasoned mix of meat/seafood; reminds me of a flattened version of an egg roll. For my main, I had the crab fried rice which has big chunks of lump crab meat - a bit on the saltier side, but pretty good. My husband had the garlic pork with Thai style omelet which comes with the Anchan flower rice which he enjoyed. Overall a satisfying meal and there are other dishes that I'd be intrigued to come back and try!

This place came highly recommended by a fellow Yelper, and WOW--they did not disappoint! The crab fried rice was delicious with just a touch of sweetness and great flavor. The pad Thai with shrimp was a standout, loaded with bold flavors and nicely sized shrimp. Definitely ask for the hot sauces and do yourself a favor by trying the Thai "Crack" sauce--it's next-level amazing. The strawberry basil Thai lemonade was super refreshing and a perfect pairing. On top of all that, the service was friendly, the restaurant was spotless, and the overall vibe was fantastic. Easily a place I'll be coming back to!

Lots of nice vegan options at Kin Dee Thai. I really enjoyed the curry puff pike, vegetable spring rolls with peanut sauce, and pad kee mao with tofu. There were three other plant based dishes that looked really nice. Service was friendly and attentive abs we didn't have a hard time getting a seat on a busy Valentine's Day.

Food was 10/10. I got the crab fried rice ($23) and the pandan crepe cake. WOW is all I can say. The crab fried rice was perfectly seasoned and cooked with a good portion. The crab was tender and so so flavorful. Thoroughly impressed I can get this in Arizona. This is a STEP ABOVE. The crepe cake was mind blowing. Not too sweet but perfect flavorful. Pandan is called "Asian Vanilla" bc it is a nutty, almond, vanilla like flavor. The coconut crème on the side was pure joy. It was so fresh and coconuty in a natural refreshing way. It was pricey at $9 but it was soooo gooood. My girl is vegan and she got the kruah gai noddles with tofu, curry puffs, Thai tea and the mango sticky rice. The curry puffs were fantastic. I would absolutely order. I thought the noodles were okay but she enjoyed it. She did mention the portion was smaller. She got her Thai tea with coconut and it was so refreshing with great flavor! I had never had mango sticky rice before but it was interesting. I didn't know it was warm but the rice was delicious. I believe it's their pandan infused rice used in their main dishes. Delicious!!! The mango was also ripe. The desserts are rotating but I hope the pandan cake stays!!! Also there are menu items that are still in the testing stage and haven't made it to the main menu yet, like the pandan chicken and waffles which I am hard pressed to try!!!! The service was good. I met the owner and her children! Really great family and I wish them all the best success.

A nice selection of vegan, seed oil-free, and incredibly delicious dishes to choose from and fantastic service, too. It doesn't get any better than this!

    Panang Braised Beef Curry
    Megan E.

Good Thai spot! Their menu is relatively small with items that I consider "elevated" dishes. There's a handful of rice dishes with a couple curry and noodle options. We had the Pad Thai Shrimp and the Panang Braised Beef Curry, both of which exceeded our expectations. Presentation is beautiful though! Service was friendly once we were seated; however, there were a few parties that walked in at once and no hostess to be seen so we all sat awkwardly on the couch not knowing who to check in with.

    Thai French toast.

This restaurant is so quaint and beautiful. I really appreciated their caffeine free drink options and tried the strawberry Thai basil lemonade - phenomenal! I also ordered the Thai French Toast dish and was so pleased with the flavors. It's a unique savory experience with shrimp and panko crusted toast with veggies and a curry sauce. I will definitely be ordering this dish again! The service was fast and the staff were so friendly. A great new east side spot!!

We started with the spring rolls which were fresh and light. A little bit of mint and a delicious peanut sauce with a hint of heat. The rolls are large and make part of a meal by themselves. They have tofu options as well making them a vegetarian option. We ordered the Panang Chicken Curry and Crab noodles. Both were aromatic and good portions. We got two meals out of them. The chicken was a good curry with bright notes including basil. Large pieces of chicken as well as vegetables made the dish hearty. If you like Thai curry, it is excellent. The crab noodles had large amounts of shredded crab and egg. The sauce was slightly sweet and complimented the crab perfectly. Agin the amount of crab made it a hearty meal. The noodles were thin and light and perfectly prepared. Both dishes had a balance of flavors that spoke of a good chef who paid attention even in a fast paced restaurant. This is an excellent and affordable Thai option in Tucson!

Karuna's has great things about it like the ability to get food at a high spice level (the highest…read morespice in town for Thai and on some days it can get quite spicy at the highest level of 5/5. Good place to go less spicy at if you generally eat less spice). I also like the tofu here. The food is usually good but can also be hit or miss. I find that 1 out of a few times the tom Kha soup and the curries can fall flat in terms of flavor complexity and are too salty. They are often good just not consistently. They have a couple noodle dishes that I find more consistent. All items with V can be made vegetarian. They are also very vegan friendly. Here's what I have tried here: -Rad Nah Flat rice noodles stir fried with kana or broccoli in a special gravy with choice of protein. I get mine with fried tofu at the highest spice level 5/5 or 4/5 if I am in the mood for less spicy. This dish is one of the main dishes that has been consistently good for me here and I almost always get it here. -Tom Kha soup: It is not my favorite Tom Kha in Tucson (my fave Tom Kha in Tucson is at Seasons Eats) but on good days it hits the spot for me. I get it with half fried tofu and half vegetables which they didn't charge me extra for here. The problem is that once in awhile it's less good and falls flat with less complexity and too much salt. I typically get Tom Kha soup at the highest spice level. It's still a go to for me here since it's good most of the time I have tried it and I like to get it with the Rad Nah Flat rice noodles. Pad Kee Mao: Fresh rice noodles or bean thread stir fried in red curry sauce with garlic, Thai chili, onion, bell pepper, broccoli, straw mushroom, baby corn, and basil. For this one I like to make a change to wide flat rice noodles instead of the thin noodles it comes with by default. I get it with fried tofu. This dish is fairly consistent for me and I enjoy getting it from time to time. -Yum Pak salad: Thai eggplant, carrot, snow peas, onion, broccoli, cilantro, cucumber, and Chinese cabbage in a tasty lime dressing. At the highest 5/5 spice level it definitely got spicy for me which can be the case sometimes with Thai salads at the highets spice level. but I also had it with a Poh Thak soup at the highest spice level so I think both built up for me together. This one wasn't my favorite because I am a little picky about how I like my eggplant ( I liked softer and very cooked typically) but I could see myself getting it again if in the mood, maybe at a 4/5 spice depending on my mood. I only tried it once. - Poh Thak soup Spicy soup with fragrant broth of lemongrass, ginger, galangal, basil, & lime. I get it with fried tofu. I really liked the flavors. At the highest 5/5 spice level it definitely got spicy for me but I also had it with the Yum Pak salad salad at the highest spice level so I think both built up for me together. I still very much enjoyed it and would get it again, maybe at a 4 out of 5 spice depending on my mood. I only tried it once. -Red Curry: Red is my typical go to curry I always get or at least start with at Thai places. It's usually good but unfortunately the curries here, which are usually my go to in Thai restaurants, are very inconsistent for me. Sometimes good and sometimes too salty and not complex. I tend to prefer to get curries, especially red, in Tucson at Nattha's Bann Thai. -Panang Curry with Straw Mushroom and Tofu: Fried tofu simmered in panang curry with coconut milk, straw mushroom, bell pepper, young jackfruit, carrot, chili & Thai basil. Fun to see young jackfruit on the menu here. Unfortunately the curries here, which are usually my go to in Thai restaurants, are very inconsistent for me. Sometimes good and sometimes too salty and not complex. Pad Thai vegetarian: I only tried it once here but it wasn't for me, at least that one time I tried and I didn't get it again. The sauce was too bland for me. It can get pretty crowded here on some weekend evenings as it's not a big space. The service is usually good here in my experience. I'd come back for my favorites or to try something new but I do keep in mind that it isn't always consistent with some dishes fluctuating in flavor sometimes and therefore sometimes prefer to go elsewhere for Thai. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

The restaurant was quite busy, and our server, who may have been one of the owners, appeared to be a bit fatigued, which is understandable given their thirty years of service. The food was enjoyable, and while we are considering returning, we are also interested in trying some other Thai restaurants that are more conveniently located and offer better parking options. It was evident that Karuna's serves as a popular neighborhood spot, with numerous takeout orders being handled during our visit. If you're in the neighborhood and craving Thai food, I highly recommend checking them out. Most of us enjoyed their Pad Thai, with some opting for chicken and others for shrimp. We also shared some spring rolls, which were quite tasty! However, I want to mention that it was a bit surprising to receive spring rolls that weren't cut in half, especially since we didn't have any knives at the table. It could be a small change that would make the experience even better for everyone.

Mixing all of it together is heaven. This is by far my favorite here! I find that I generally really like taro- all parts of the plant! The root as served in this restaurant and in Thai desserts, the leaves in filipino laing and the stalk (elephant ear stalk) in vietnamese Canh Chua soup. #20 Fried rice noodles dish (ask for the crispy option!) . This one became quite expensive recently but when I had it in the past it was delicious. Definitely get the crispy version! #14: Those vietnamese crispy rice paper egg rolls that are stuffed with deliciously seasoned tofu are so good. They let you get them a la carte but the full plate comes with the sauce and herbs. I get them as part of #16 as described above so it has the sauce and herbs in that dish as well. I really love that they have a vegetarian and vegan menu and that they have the vegan sweet soy sauce available in place of fish sauce for that menu. It comes with mushrooms and I get it with fried tofu or vegetables (they now charge extra to do half and half unfortunately and it's already a little pricey) I alway get Tom Kha at the highest spice level. It's not very spicy here but consistently good. I ask them for Chilli crisp sauce on the side and love to put it in the soup too. Solid 5 stars from me for the Tom Kha soup here! I really miss their old location 4 Seasons where they had it served in a hot pot and had the picnic tables outside. At this new location now they only have disposable dishes and no outside seating. While I find the Tom Kha really perfect here, other dishes are a little less consistent for me. for example last time I got the red curry it was very watery and not quite as good. I did really like their pumpkin curry here too. If you enjoy spice I recommend getting the highest spice level here (5/5), it's definitely far below the spice level of many Thai restaurants. I guess we were lucky to find Luckie's as a Thai-Asian cuisine which does both. They're located in the Fry's shopping center. Inside you seat yourself at any of the open tables. I would guess they can seat about 40-60 for capacity. There are menus you can take from the counter back to your table. There are also some pictures of the dishes above the main counter to see what you might be ordering. The staff was very friendly and helpful when placing the order. We started with eggrolls which were more like Chinese Spring Rolls. Their spring rolls are much different and Thai style using the clear wrap and not fried. My brother had the chicken curry while I had the seafood curry and mom had the shrimp with lobster sauce. The rice arrives as a large scoop in a separate bowl while the main dish is in another bowl. They're easily mixed on the plate. The seafood curry was very tasty and not too spicy. It came with shrimp, salmon and mussels along with peppers and onions. The shrimp with lobster sauce was too much for mom so we took it home. The staff offered a box of fried rice to take home as well at no extra cost. Most dishes cost around $12-$18. I was glad we made the right choice for lunch.
