Came here for Father's Day and had brunch with my family. It was a good experience once again, and I had my first scotch egg, which was pretty damn good! I looked at it at first and questioned the overall ingredients, but I'm glad I tried it! It even gave me the idea to cook one at home and try. They give you the option to have a family style brunch for a flat per person rate. You can choose three appetizers and four entrees for the entire table to share. It is well enough food for everyone, and you can request as much or as little as you want. It's definitely an awesome deal. The only downside is that your options can be limited, and the drink menu didn't have a large enough variety for me. But that's just a personal preference. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place because of the atmosphere and excellent food. The service has been great both times I had food there! read more

Food was good very small portions 1 serving of french toast was a (1) 1/2 slice of French toast bread ( took 30min for 2nd serving) consistent throughout "All You Can Eat Brunch" Service was not acceptable (with the 2 hour limit)seems as though the extended delays between servings is by design to control product consumption and minimize costs to maximize profit. Family of 4 daughter planned all week and even brought a school mate since we stopped in last week not knowing you needed a reservation. The buildup toward this weekend to visit Makers Union was all for naught( very disappointed) will not recommend especially at the cost of $259.(5persons) read more

Best she crab soup I've ever had!!! Awesome happy hour!!! Amazing waiters!!! I'll definitely go back next time. I am there.

Good stuff, but missing on some execution. For example, my wife ordered the fried calamari and the tarter sauce was all over it making it mushy instead of crispy. I had the same problem with the fried onions on my prime rib french dip. Also my side baked potato was a little under-cooked. Everything was flavorful, but these errors are an important miss for what wasn't a cheap meal. read more

This was a late night treat after a ballet that my friends and I went to. I love that they're open until midnight on Saturdays! We were able to reserve a last minute table for 6 at 10:30 pm. I had ordered their a mocktail, oysters, and steak Asian salad. 1. Oysters - 3/5 - I was looking forward to trying these oysters, but they were quite the disappointment. Some of the shells were in the oyster when I ate it. The oyster wasn't sandy but it seems like the shells chipped off. In addition, it left a rather bizarre bitter after taste that made the mocktail and steak salad unpleasant to eat. The actual oyster itself tasted delicious on the other hand minus the shells and bitter after taste. 2. Steak Asian Salad - 4/5. Well-seasoned. Perfectly cooked medium-rare steak. Nothing spectacular in terms of an Asian steak salad. I would order this again but I would probably prefer trying other items on the menu first. What's great about this place is that they have 5 mocktails that you could order and there was live music! It was also easy to find parking -- free parking in the parking garage after a certain hour. read more

Came here for bottomless brunch. The service was phenomenal... shout out to CAMERON!!! She was attentive, honest feedback when we asked for advice on what to get, and fast. Thank you so much! Food: The bottomless is amazing you can pick 3 items from the apps and 3 items from the entrees. So the table gets 6 options to pick from but you can only get bottomless from the 6 options selected. My sister and I did a sweet and savory mixture. We loved and everything we got. Our favorite was the waffles and the Nashville hot chicken. The Nashville hot tenders are BOMB and flavorful. All the food was really good. I would also recommend the crispy Brussels sprouts and the French toast. Service: 5/5 again very attentive and quick Cleanliness: 3/5 our table was dirty but the waitress cleaned it up right away when we brought it up to her attention. Overall: I will definitely be back and recommend. Bottomless brunch was $30 and doesn't include drinks. Great for groups! read more

This was my first time trying Makers Union and I came in to celebrate my daughter's engagement with her and her fiancé. The restaurant was beautiful and the food quality was amazing. The best part of all with the service! Our server, Leilani was extremely attentive, answered all our questions, and was able to get us everything we needed. She was extremely helpful and made our experience even better! We all left extremely pleased and intend to come back. Cannot recommend this place enough! If you do come, I would suggest asking for Leilani . read more

What a lovely brunch experience! I decided on a Friday evening to make a reservation for the next day. I was able to easily and quickly make a reservation online. The restaurant is located in Reston, past Tyson's Corner. There are parking garages right by the restaurant (and limited street parking) and parking is free on the weekends. The restaurant was clean and all of the staff was really friendly. We opted for the the family style brunch. You get 3 starters and 3 entrées for $32 per person ($13.95 for kids under 10). There are 5 starters and 10 entrées to choose from. We chose the spinach and artichoke dip, Nashville hot chicken tenders, Brussel sprouts, chicken and waffles, chicken fried steak, and avocado toast. Oh my...the food is absolutely delicious! Everything was delicious, but here is what stood out: Brussel sprouts: Absolutely delicious! They were glazed in a honey sauce. I also tasted a bit of ginger. I always have major disappointment with the way restaurants make Brussels, so this gave me quite a bit of joy! Chicken and waffles: I loved that you get bone in chicken instead of boneless chicken, like most places. The waffle was a savory corn flavor, which was a perfect balance with the chicken and bourbon syrup. The honey butter that came on the waffles was also to die for! Chicken fried steak: The mashed potatoes that came with this dish were some of the creamiest I have tasted ever! Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders: Perfect balance of of heat. All dishes are unlimited, so you will not leave hungry at all! definitely plan to return to try some of the other dishes on the menu! read more

i don't think I struggled eith a rating more than this. We initially sat outside but knee there was rain on the way. We moved inside away from everyone and were sitting in a quiet corner. Melissa was our server and service improved as we went along We had the crab mac ans cheese and crab cake. The crab cake was really good and their fries were perfect. The mac and cheese was missing chunks of crab but did have alot of flavor. The appetizers we enjoyed incluswd rhe spinach and artichoke dip and the brussel sprouts. The dressing on the sprouts was noteworthy. All in all it was a good meal. read more

Our server Jordyn was truly top tier--my mom and I had one of the best dining experiences we've had in a long time! From start to finish, Jordyn was attentive without being overbearing, incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and had such a warm, welcoming energy. She anticipated our needs before we even asked and made sure everything was just right. If you have the chance to be in her section, you're in great hands! It's clear she takes pride in what she does, and it really elevated the entire meal--we ordered the bottomless brunch + the monkey bread and greatly enjoyed it all. And the weather was perfect for outdoor seating that day. We'll be back soon! read more

Stop by for a quick bite Our server with Kehlani (sp) She was very inviting and friendly We started off with the prickly pear margarita (definitely a good drink) and a sweet tea tequila I ordered the Nashville chicken tenders(a little too spicy for my liking) I got the garlic Parmesan fries (just OK) The Warrens fine chicken and waffles were really good The chicken sandwich was also a good choice The ambience and setting was really nice Definitely a place to go by yourself or on a date Try them out they're located in Reston town Center read more

I had been wanting to try Makers Union since it opened. However, we gave up on trying to have it delivered. First, they were using unfamiliar delivery companies and we already had accounts with Doordash and Grub Hub. Then they kept tinkering with the menu so just when we thought they had that straightened out, they would tinker with it again. Finally, now that things have opened up in VA, we decided to have a meal there as we were there on a Saturday night. My husband insisted on making a reservation, which we did. However, it turned out to not be necessary. We chose to eat inside as the tables had wide spacing between them. All the staff members we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. Thus the 4 star rating. We felt that they were very attentive. I had my eye on the "tempura fried lobster tail" as I was curious about fried lobster. This entree comes with grilled broccolini and a loaded baked potato. The lobster is in the form of an 8 oz. lobster tail. My husband chose the "Maryland crab cake" which comes with charred jalapeno tartar, mustard slaw and fries. I had a drink called "zen garden". Right now, I can't remember every single ingredient in it but it did have pistachios and lemon, which made for an interesting mix as the flavorings blended together quite well. Plus I appreciated that it wasn't too strong. As for the lobster tail --- when an entree has "tempura fried" in the description, I expect to see a tempura-type coating---lightly battered and crunchy. The coating wasn't a tempura one at all. Still, the lobster tail turned out quite well, moist and tender. The coating didn't adhere to the lobster. Instead of drawn butter, there was an aioli that had a lemon flavor. It worked well with the lobster. The broccolini needed to be cooked a tad more as it wasn't quite tender crisp. The loaded baked potato was perfectly baked and tasty. My husband's crab cake was large. He said the way the crab was mixed with the filler used reminded him of tuna salad. That said, it did taste like crab. He also like the mustard slaw but the portion was stingy. The charred jalapeno tarter was very tame. The fries were properly prepared but he made an effort to not fill up on them. We both wished that they gave out some bread with their meals but it is what it is. The appetizers sounded good but we passed on them as we didn't want to feel too full. Be aware that is was a splurge of a meal --- in other words, not cheap. We would try them again and will try different entrees. Again, the stellar service is a big plus for us. read more

My friends and I came here for brunch on a Sunday after making some candles at PaddyWax across the street. We originally wanted to go to Ted's Bulletin, but the wait was 30 minutes so we decided to just go to Makers Union. We were placed at the high top tables with no wait. I got the Maryland Crab Cake Benedict with homefries on the side. I wish I was more impressed with my food but I wasn't. The crab cakes were good but nothing to write home about but the potatoes were good. However, some of their other items on their menu looked really good. I wish I got some of the appetizers instead, such as the scotch eggs (which looks delicious after looking at the different entrees from other yelpers). With that being said, our server was great. He came by often to refill our waters and check in on us and if we were enjoying our food. The decor inside the restaurant is also sophisticated and cute; a great place to catch up with friends or have a date night. I see that Makers Union has only been open for awhile so maybe they're still working out some kinks with their menu; I'd definitely come back and give them another shot. Overall, it was still a good experience despite not falling in love with my food (though the food was good!). My friends got a chicken kale salad and the poke bowl and both enjoyed their entrees! read more

Had kid free dinner date last night and decided to check out somewhere new to us. We decided on Makers Union and thankfully they were able to seat us right away. The town center was quite busy for a Thursday evening! We were seated and our server, Megan, came soon after to offer us waters and take our drink order. I'm not much of a drinker, but decided to live on the edge and ordered the prickle pear frozen margarita. It was delicious and refreshing! My husband ordered the magical sage which was not only delicious but beautiful too. For dinner I ordered the lobster roll with a side of fries. My husband ordered the frickin good chicken sandwich with a side of butter Parmesan fries. We were undecided on what to order, so we cut our sandwiches in half and shared so we each got to try both. The lobster roll was good, right amount of lobster and Mayo, good seasoning and toasted roll. The frickin good chicken was good, better than some other chicken sandwiches I've had. My husband had them put the Nashville style sauce on the side so that it wouldn't be so spicy for me. He enjoyed the sauce and said it was spicy without being overpowering. Only con...the acoustics and a loud table near us (not the fault of the establishment). The pro was the good food, great drinks and fantastic service by Megan! We will definitely be going back. read more

I went for St. Patrick's Day and it was a really fun environment! This was my second time here. They had special cocktails for the occasion and I had the Green Whiskey Lemonade. It was so good and quite refreshing! Food wise, I ordered the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. It was pretty tasty but there was too much onions in the dish. I wished it had less because it was a bit overbearing. I did eat around the onions and did enjoy it when I removed it on my own. During my previous visit I had the Makers Signature Mac & Cheese which I really liked! Can't go wrong with a nice cheesy mac. I would go back in the future for their drinks! read more

I haven't had such a satisfying meal while dining out for awhile. I was so pleased with the food and service here. We usually walk past this place and it's usually crowded and upbeat. I didn't think about dining here until I saw their vast outdoor seating with families and kids! Our server was amazing. She was attentive and so kind. I didn't know what to order as I wanted to share my dish with my kids. She recommended the hickory smoked salmon and it was perfect. The salmon was moist, flaky, with a good seared crust. The quinoa, mushrooms, and green beans that came with that dish were soft, creamy, and filled with flavor. My one year old loved everything from that dish and everything was soft enough for him to enjoy. I also ordered the buttered pasta and mac & cheese from the kids menu and both my kids were crazy about them. The pastas for both were cooked well. My hubby ordered the prime rib French dip which I also tried and the meat was juicy and soft. To top off our meal, we had to order the candy cloud just from reading the description. We opted out of the flambé part because we wanted to share it with our kids. It was such a whimsical dessert. The cake was a bit too sweet for my taste. But the ice cream, strawberries, whipped cream, white chocolate, and let's not forgot the best part, the cotton candy, made us all so happy. This place has easily become one of my favorite spots at Reston Town Center! read more

Ordered thanksgiving dinner from them today. Thanksgiving meal came with a whole turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, and two sides of choice. I added some sides so I ended up with garlic green beans, maple sweet potato, cornbread stuffing and Mac and cheese. The amount you get was definitely not a lot- I'd say it's meant for 4 (but like you won't have leftover sides). Pick up was breeze, the city tend to block that street because of some thanksgiving event but the worker lady kept telling the police they need to open up the street for people to pick up the food. Now the reason for the 5 star....TURKEY. This is legit the best turkey I've ever had. Honestly when I opened up the foil, turkey looked dry and not that cute (no decor around the sides, bare) and I was slightly worried. None of my family really looked excited to eat in general because of how it looked and also they don't like American thanksgiving food but after we cut open the turkey and started eating it albeit hesitantly, it was SO good. Turkey is not even a tiny bit dry, it is moist and full of flavor. We are currently all taking a nap because we ate wayyyy too much turkey and there was so much leftover. (The only part of the meal we had leftover) My family does NOT like American food in general but everyone DESTROYED the food, that's gotta tell you a LOT about how delicious it was. The sides were also impeccable and delicious. My mom raved about the garlic green beans- it was so crispy (perfectly cooked, aka not over cooked) and flavorful. We killllllled the sides. I wished I had added mashed potato bc I bet that also would have been bomb. I'd double up on the side next year. Someone in the back knows what they are doing because I am blown away by the food especially the turkey. It can't be easy cooking that many birds for pick up. (I saw lot of pick ups ready to go) I am sooo impressed that I will def visit for regular meals- I actually never tried this place until today, only chose it for thanksgiving bc they allowed day of pick up- not many places allow thanksgiving day pick up. They didn't have many dessert choices but if I knew the meal was gonna be this good, I would have added every possible option. Please please continue to do this thanksgiving meal option because you have made a FAN out of me and I will be back next year. I am thankful for your staff!!! read more

This new location opened in August 2020 when a lot of people weren't dining out so it was good to visit them in 2022 & to see that they were still going strong! I had a wonderful birthday celebration night out at Makers Union. Parking: easy on a Thursday evening right on Library Street. Garages in the town center area also an alternative if street parking isn't available. Entrance: very cozy & loved that all the staff was warm & welcoming. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful! It's the perfect location to meet for a larger dinner party or to host an event. Drinks: We arrived during happy hour - husband & best friend enjoyed the prickly pear margarita & it was the passionfruit Nojito for me :) Food: Appetizers - we tried the brussel sprouts, tempura green beans, and calamari (a bit chewy/tasted frozen). All of the dishes were good, but a little heavy on the frying oil. Dinner - we all ordered the steak & fries which came with grilled broccoli, parmesan fries, and the steak was topped with a really fresh & flavorful Chimichurri. Dessert: Bread pudding warmed with a drizzle of caramel & a scoop of ice cream - SO good!! We will definitely be back - they did not disappoint for my birthday! read more

Service was phenomenal - food came out pretty quick & we were checked up on several times. We ordered the crab cake Benedict brunch & the hickory smoked salmon hash. The crab cake benedict was really delicious. I loved the biscuit they used instead of the typical muffin. It was soft & crumbly & melts in your mouth, especially paired with the hollandaise sauce. Crab cakes themselves were on the smaller side, but tasty. Breakfast potatoes were nice & crispy. We did not enjoy the salmon hash at all. The salmon was EXTREMELY salty. Almost inedible. Went back, this time for dinner. I was disappointed in the menu selection, nothing exciting, burgers, steak, shrimp scampi, chicken alfredo, that kind of stuff. So my friends and I shared a bunch of appetizers. The appetizers are interesting and yummy. I really liked that the raw oysters had a pickle brine migniotte (? spelling), the Nashville chicken tenders were quite spicy (and I like spicy), the Brussels sprouts were Asian flavored with chopped peanuts, and even the green beans are great.
