I would consider this place a stand, not a restaurant but nonetheless it was really good. Really chill vibe. Parking can be an issue but we got lucky and found a spot across the street. French themed with different pastries and sandwiches available. Coffee options available as well. Price was on the higher side for lunch but we also ordered the most expensive items from the menu. I had to try the omelette with trout roe and the pink praline late. Once we ordered at the window we found a spot under the shaded patio area they have right next to the stand. There are like 3 little round tables. Once our order was ready, they brought it to us. I really enjoyed the omelette. It was placed in a baguette, so it was technically a sandwich. The eggs were soft and the trout roe added a touch of saltiness. The coffee was equally tasty, not too sweet.

Fulfilling my own promise and coming back for their sandwiches! Not to miss the opportunity, we tried both the Jambon Beurre and Daniel's Favorite which was basically the Jambon one but with prosciutto instead of ham. Both were soooo good just like what everyone's been shouting, and it's indeed the butter which became their secret sauce! It's impressive how the simple meat, butter, cornichons combo could turn out that tasty. If we had to choose one, our pick was the prosciutto one just because it's more salty so it balanced the butter well. We pre-ordered to be secure that we're not spending long time waiting but the time we arrived on Sunday noon it's not like insanely busy. We waited a bit for the seat at the side patio, and could quickly get one. And ofc, we didn't skip their almond croissant!

Although I probably wont be back, as $22 per sandwich is a little steep for me, overall the food was really good. Parking is limited but my husband and I found a spot not terribly far and walked up to the super cute and clean window. We ordered the Omelette Sandwich and Daniel's Favorite. The Omelette Sandwich had a tad muted flavor and was dry, but was overall tasty; I just about destroyed the roof of my mouth with the bread. The eggs were really light and perfectly cooked though. My husbands sandwich was better, it had butter on it which greatly helped the dry factor and the salty prosciutto was perfection. Portions were okay for the price point. It came out in a reasonable amount of time considering it's made to order.

Heard a lot of great thing about this place and realized that I drove by this places countless times without realizing that it's a French shop, a hole in the wall type that is for to go only. First, parking was easy since I got street parking right next to the building but it can be snapped up once the lunch rush starts. Small menu but great choices. Easy order through the window with great, friendly service staff. Ordered 1/2 Daniel's favorite (Prosciutto di Parma, butter & cornichons on house baguette), Pork Rillette (Pork confit topped with fresh herbs and cornichons with toasted baguette), and London Fog. Took abit to get order since it's made to order and there are couple orders ahead of me. Once done, they bring it out in a to go bad to you. Price wise, it's pricey and true to the French for sure. It's definitely on the high end but didn't expected to be on this side on the neighborhood. The sandwich was great, great combo but the baguette was not toast or heat up so it be chewy. The butter is definitely bring the whole thing together and it a lot in the sandwich for sure, so glad that I when to the gym prior. I can felt my heartbeat and my fat appreciated a lot. The Pork Rillette, or pâté was great...on the light side and perfectly great on the toasted (crunchy) baguette. The 1st bite, you wonder what you're tasting but as you chew, you start tasting the pork, the herbs combined and the favor is getting to you as you eat it. The croissant was great as well, but I would preferred that it heat up abit so I can bite into the crust crunch croissant. The latte was fantastic, well make. Overall it was surprisingly great lunch but the prices got me off guard abit since all these is for $47 included tip. Definitely in the high end in the low end neighborhood.

Good baguette, good butter, that's about it. I don't see what the hype is all about. About $30 for a full sandwich. I don't mind paying that kind of money for a good sandwich, but this ain't it. Great exercise for your jaw though. But I'm not coming back.

I don't really care for baguettes or sándwiches with a lot of meat- this has both and I'm surprisingly obsessed. The flavors were so good/ different than what I'm used to. ‍ Service was fast and friendly and they have a seating area partially outside on the left.

The quintessential Parisian sandwich Jambon Beurre
    Dee V.

I was craving the quintessential French sandwich, jambon beurre, and decided to try Maison Matho. Service was quick. It's a casual setup where you order through a window. The baguette was crisp with a golden crust and a soft, chewy interior. The ham was thinly sliced, mild, and savory. They were generous with the butter, which was evenly spread and added a rich, creamy finish to every bite. There is a small covered seating area on the side of the building. Parking is street-only.

Drove by on my way home from the city and found no line and easy parking. Grabbed a jambon buerre and Daniel's favorite before hitting the traffic-laden freeway. I really adore simplicity and that's exactly what the jambon is. A great baguette, lots of flavorful French butter, shaved jambon and some cornichons. I do wish there was more cornichons to help offset the butter and ham, but that's a small quibble. It's a sandwich and a darned good one. I found the Daniel's Favorite with prosciutto too rich and salty for my liking. It was good, but I'm more a fan of less is more in this case.

Located down Melrose, you will find a small stand tucked off to the side. Don't blink or you might miss it--I almost did. Once you find it, though, you'll be glad you did. The menu is distinctly French, featuring fun specialty drinks and thoughtfully crafted dishes. My friend and I ordered the Omelette with Trout Roe specialty sandwich ($27) and split half of the classic Jambon Beurre ($12 half / $23 full). I was very tempted to add a pastry, but I'm glad I didn't--this was more than enough food for two. Both sandwiches were delicious and served on their incredible house-made baguette. Honestly, I could eat the baguette alone and be happy. The omelette sandwich was quite messy, so grab plenty of napkins. The French omelette itself was perfectly cooked--light, fluffy, with a soft center. I might have preferred a roe with a bit more pop, but the trout roe worked fine. The Jambon Beurre was everything you would expect from this French classic: a thick slab of salty butter, a generous amount of ham, and tangy cornichons to finish it off. Next time, I may ask for extra cornichons. There is a small patio area with tables, plus a couple along the sidewalk. That said, the sandwiches hold up well for takeaway. Since everything appears to be made to order, expect a bit of a wait. All in all, the sandwiches were excellent, and I will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

When you see French people in line, you know you're at the spot. I fell in love with the whole jambon beurre experience at La Petit Vendome in Paris so I'm so happy to have found this spot in LA.

Maison Matho is one of my absolute favorite sandwiches!! The baguette is perfect, the ratio of bread to butter pickles and prosciutto is perfect every time! I will say it is a bit on the pricey side for a simple lunch I spent about $50 for a sandwich, latte, and side order of baguette but I am willing to splurge when necessary because it's absolutely delicious! It reminds me of a cute lil bakery is France

An interesting spot with a small menu but lots of personality! While I was around Hollywood, I stopped by here for a quick lunch. I got the Daniel's favorite sandwich (Prosciutto di parma, butter & cornichons on their own baguette) and it was so delicious and very unique. The sandwich is also a very good size and the baguette is yummy as well. The service is relatively fast from the window and most of the seating is outside. There isn't much, but I got lucky and landed a seat when some folks left.

    Tomato tartine. Very watery
    Sylvie C.

Oof. Where do I start with the review for Maison Matho? Street parking is only available in and around the neighborhood. Lucky if you can find some right in front of the store. It's a hole in the wall type place with some outside seating. Only one customer in front of us but somehow took nearly 10 minutes for our turn because they were busy chatting. Once it was my turn ordering, I found the woman's attitude curt and rude. It isn't like she was unaware of the now long line behind me. Very French in that sense. I ordered the 6-minute egg and tomato tartine because the ham and cheese croissant was sold out. Both items were garbage in my opinion. The tomato was oozing water from the salt they used. Oh why hello osmosis effect. That doesn't go well together with flaky crust that was otherwise over-baked and crumbled everywhere. Do you like your tartine / croissant type dough baked and "flaky" like shards? You may like it then. It also needed some black pepper or something to add more flavor to the salted tomato compote like crap oozing with water. The 6-minute egg was a ghastly surprise. I didn't read the menu description in detail and wasn't aware it will be a cold soft boiled egg floating in aspic jelly and edible flowers + shredded pink prosciutto with beans. No. No thank you. Had I known this, this would have been a hard pass. The sandwich my friend got looked underwhelming too. A dry baguette with prosciutto and some pickled vegetables. Very bland and unappetizing looking. Something a Dutch or German native would have lapped it up and be happy. To me this place seems overhyped for the quality of food a service it renders. Probably the biggest $20 something I wasted in a long time. I don't recommend unless you're into bland European style food with a side of rude but authentic French style service.

If that's the case, it's better not to sell it at all than serve something like that. The dalgona latte was also disappointing. With ice, the drink only filled to the bottom third line of the cup marking. Clearly, they skimped on the milk. There was also a weird moment when I paid. Thus, this review is long overdue, but is still a work in progress as I'll have to reacquaint myself with their other menus. Making an impromptu visit here for dessert/coffee on Mother's Day reminded me why BL needs a review. Cuisine: 4/5. Solid. Again, I need to reacquaint myself with their other menus. That said, even without a reservation, it's worth it to stop in to sample their beautiful selection of patisserie and have a good coffee and/or a digestif. Beverages: 4/5. Blood Orange Negroni was definitely enjoyable. No complaints. Service: 4/5. Staff is friendly and unpretentious. Say less. Ambiance: 5/5. One of the few places I've been to in L.A. that reminds me of a Parisian brasserie/patisserie. Lively, but much classier than large chain restaurants. It's aesthetically enjoyable with a bright decor--a must check-out for the city. Been provecho.

So nostalgic! Had a res at 2pm. Arrived at 155pm and got seated right away. It's still packed but not as bad as it was back then. With the economy and all I saw a lot of surrounding businesses closed. But that's beside the point. Bottega's service, the staff and the food were all top notch. Staff always checking in to see how we are doing, but not at all in that annoying way. Food we ordered were the beignets with this raspberry compote. Soooo good 8/10. Hamburger with fries. Meat was so good and top quality. Fries were made to perfection. 10/10. Carbonara was so creamy and noodles were perfectly al dente with fresh Parmesan shaved on top of the pasta. Amazing! 9/10 Cheese pizza- crust was perfectly crispy 8/10. Soufflé pancake with chantilly cream and strawberry compote. Oh my gosh this blew my mind. We just came back from Hawaii for spring break and had these amazing Japanese soufflé pancakes and these battled them pretty well. 10/10. Also had Bellini and mimosas and both so yummy. The ambiance was amazing and with the high ceilings it made it so whimsical and airy. Parking garage across the street off of Grand was $9. You can valet as well. Overall, great experience and the family and I will come back again for sure. Great job Bottega!! Your success is well deserved!
