Really great croissant that reminds me of the corner bakery shop that I could walk to in Paris. Chocolate croissant wasn't too sweet and very flaky and light. We had the almond cake as there were no almond croissants. It looked like a piece of coffee cake and it was full of almond paste. Very good. The curry chicken sandwich was fantastic! Stopped here for lunch on a hot Sunday. We ordered the BLT and salmon quiche. The BLT took about 20 mins to receive, was dry and not tasty at all. They said they were warming it up and that's why it took so long, but it was cold and dry when I actually received it. The inside dining area was just as hot as it was outside. The place may be okay for coffee and pastries, but I don't recommend it for lunch. One House Bakery in Benicia is 100% better. read more

I'm updating my review of this (mostly) amazing bakery, because twice now I have purchased their delicious sliced Levain bread (for a mere $15.00 a loaf), and got home to discover that their bread slicer mangled half of the loaf. The first time the cashier told me it was because the bread was so fresh that it "didn't slice well." The second time (later in the day, so it wasn't brand new out of the oven fresh), the machine still mangled half of the loaf. For what they are charging, they should have a state-of-the-art bread slicing set-up. I'm going out of town tomorrow and don't have time to return this. read more

Authentic caneles!! Crisp golden shell and soft chewy interior! The place is new so interior's very minimalistic and it still smells like freshly opened store. As close to a French cafe/ bakery as you can get with out booking a plane ticket. Everything was fantastic from croissants, baguettes and the Jambon. Putting it in the monthly weekend rotation for sure. You will not be disappointed headed here for breakfast. The line is worth the wait! read more

First time here, place was clean, employees were nice. Nothing jumped out at me though as to why the ratings are so high. I bought a loaf of bread, which was actually the best thing I had. A vanilla custard tart (super dry and bland) banana bonafee (not sure if I spelled that right but it wasn't like the European kind I'm used to, it was almost kinda burnt tasting) and an apple turnover which wasn't bad but I wouldn't get again. I'm not sure I might try again, sometimes things taste different on a second visit. Last thing I dislike was they don't take cash, I know lots of places are moving to cashless but I seriously hate it. I like paying cash. First time I arrived at 2 PM. They were wiped out. Got a latte, new employee was being trained, coffee was lukewarm, but still very tasty. No problem, I'm sure they'll get the hang of it. Second time, I arrived at 9:50 AM, the line was around the building, be prepared to wait approximately 50 to 70 minutes, even with 5-7 scrambling employees behind the counter. They are working out the kinks on how to better prepare for the unexpected overwhelming response. That's what happens when you're that good. Many of the baked items were gone by then, including the Mille Feuille I've been dying to try (as a Frenchie, it has been my favorite since I was a child). Some items were being replenished as quickly as possible. Everything we ordered was top notch! But pricey. Quality baking ingredients have become very expensive, and you can taste these fine ingredients in Benoit's pastries. $63 got us: 2 pain au chocolat. 1 tiny lemon meringue tart (best crust ever), 1 tarte fruit rouge (tiny berry tart), 2 marquises (tiny cream puffs - love at first bite), 2 caneles (if you like sweet & chewy, this is the one!), 1 chocolate & praline croissant and 1 Royal (chocolate mousse) my husband's two favorites. Friendly staff and a very involved owner with a desire to improve the service level and speed, and a squeaky clean environment. Bought a plain croissant, pain aux raisins, and a fruit county loaf. The Viennoiseries are flacky but too airy, lack substance. The fruity country loaf is over baked that I felt like I was eating brick slices, totally not worth the $12 I paid. Perhaps their other bake goods are better but I just reviewed the things I bought. I just had the most delicious baguette. We came because I'd heard about Maison Benoit being so authentically French...and it is! I'm so glad we drove over from Brentwood to go to the Farmer's market but mainly to try the offerings here. Besides the Baguette Traditionale, I loved the Religieuse pastry. Everything about it was amazing...the creamy coffee filling was so good! Also the Paris Brest was delicious as well. I wish they would open another patisserie cafe in Brentwood too. read more

I was so excited to try the food here and so shocked and disappointed in the outcome. I ordered a Quiche Lorraine and while the custard was good, the bacon inside was 100% raw. Not even cooked at all. The fat was still solid white, not one bit translucent. The apple Strudel was flat as a pancake and also not fully cooked. Stopped by Maison Benoit this morning and picked up two pastries, a pain au croissant and an almond croissant. The almond looked nothing like what you'd expect a typical croissant to look like. It looks more like a cake with almond filling but the employee said its made with the same flour. Which I assume, they're mostly made with the same flour just different techniques. The pain au croissant was $4.50 and the almond was $6.50. If you want an almond chocolate croissant, its $7.50. There was only one other customer in front of me when I arrived but it still took awhile before I could place my order while the cashier waited for pastries to be picked. It would be helpful if they had more than 1 person taking orders to help move the line forward as a line quickly formed behind me. Maison Benoit also serves coffee/espresso drinks, sandwiches and breakfast items like quiches and croque madame's. The quiches look like they're less than a 1/4 of a pie pan and will run you about $10.50. Sandwiches on baguette will run you about $15. Maison Benoit is a nice addition to DT Danville, but I do think they're priced high. For the cost, I'd prefer the pastries from Easy Bay. read more

Growing pains I guess. I was there at 9:15 this morning. Line was out the door. One poor girl working the cash register/coffee bar, no one at the bakery counter, despite plenty of people back in the kitchen. Not one patron served in the five minutes I waited. Didn't have time to wait for the 10 people ahead of me in line today. Maybe I'll give it another try in a few more weeks. read more

Maison Benoit offers a delightful atmosphere with comfortable inside seating and a few outdoor tables. The pastries, breads, and sandwiches are good. I believe that this bakery will continue to succeed in this area because they offer a good product and there's no competition. I have a suggestion for the owners after having visited them twice since their opening. Please stick to making good breads and pastries. If you decide to continue to offer coffee service, hire a barrista who knows how to make coffee beverages, buy good coffees, and lastly, please serve the coffee warm. My latte today was cold and had an after taste of onions. It's not a good thing for a $6.50 latte. read more

I knew I was in for a treat when I smelled the aroma of sugar and butter as I approached the entrance to Maison Benoit. I immediately eyed the croissant in the display and could see the many layers on it. While much more expensive than the croissants in Paris, I was impressed by how well Maison Benoit makes them. The same is true for the Pain au chocolat. Definitely one of the best ones I've had outside of Paris. The baguette tradition was also good. I had the pan au chocolat and it was amazing! I also tried some orange blossom pastry but was very disappointed as it tasted like soap to me. I could only try two bites and had to throw it away. I don't recommend unless you like that kind of flavor. As soon as you walk in, it is a confusing line and there is one person behind the counter for each section that adds the item you want in their section onto the trey. If you don't know what you want before you get up to the counter, it's is super frustrating as they seem impatient and the people in line also seemed to be impatient with you taking any amount of time to look around to see what you want. It felt rushed and was frazzling as there's a lot to look at and decide on when you finally get to the counter to visually see what they have behind the glass. The rest of the ambiance is very nice. I didn't stay as there was no room to sit. They had a large girlfriend birthday party going on there that day. read more
