So glad to have a legit French bakery opened up in the neighborhood! Now, we don't have to drive to Ariscault in SF for the croissants. We went on a random Wednesday at 10am and were shocked to have waited 35 minutes in line even though the line was not that long. The service is pretty slow, though there were a good amount of employees. The croissants exceeded expectations, especially after warming them up the next day. The lattes were good. However, we came back the next day, and the coffee was terrible. We ordered flavored lattes that tasted more like black coffee with a tint of cream. Also, they don't have pastries after 1pm so come early!! Like other reviewers have said, their coffee is not great. We really hope the owners will hire baristas and improve in this area. We visited this place a couple weeks ago, came around 11am and the choices were scarce: they were out of half of the menu items at least. The pastries were great so that's the only reason for 4 stars, because, besides limited menu, the line was long. Second time we didn't even go in because the line was even longer. For me, personally, it wasn't worth the wait. The prices are pretty high even for Danville (medium size round bread $15?!). Most likely won't visit again since I don't expect the lines getting shorter or them not running out of most of the menu items by 11am. Wishing them the best, though. read more

Pastries: 5 stars, croissants were phenomenal, eclairs and other breads great as well. Service and packaging: 3.5. Ordered 2 lattes for dine-in and they didn't come out until we almost finished pastries. We got some items for dine-in and take-out. The items for takeout were just thrown into a bag with no paper / plastic wrapping. The loaf of bread, not covered in anything, which pretty much dries out the loaf of bread after sitting for a day. I'm sympathetic to the cost of packaging but if you want to have high quality products like this, seems a shame for this presentation and lack of care. read more

Really great croissant that reminds me of the corner bakery shop that I could walk to in Paris. Chocolate croissant wasn't too sweet and very flaky and light. We had the almond cake as there were no almond croissants. It looked like a piece of coffee cake and it was full of almond paste. Very good. The curry chicken sandwich was fantastic! Bought a plain croissant, pain aux raisins, and a fruit county loaf. The Viennoiseries are flacky but too airy, lack substance. The fruity country loaf is over baked that I felt like I was eating brick slices, totally not worth the $12 I paid. Perhaps their other bake goods are better but I just reviewed the things I bought. I lived in Paris for 2 years and trying out different bakery and patisserie was one of my favorite things to do when I lived there. read more

I was so excited to try the food here and so shocked and disappointed in the outcome. I ordered a Quiche Lorraine and while the custard was good, the bacon inside was 100% raw. Not even cooked at all. The fat was still solid white, not one bit translucent. The apple Strudel was flat as a pancake and also not fully cooked. I knew I was in for a treat when I smelled the aroma of sugar and butter as I approached the entrance to Maison Benoit. I immediately eyed the croissant in the display and could see the many layers on it. While much more expensive than the croissants in Paris, I was impressed by how well Maison Benoit makes them. The same is true for the Pain au chocolat. Definitely one of the best ones I've had outside of Paris. The baguette tradition was also good. I just had the most delicious baguette. We came because I'd heard about Maison Benoit being so authentically French...and it is! I'm so glad we drove over from Brentwood to go to the Farmer's market but mainly to try the offerings here. Besides the Baguette Traditionale, I loved the Religieuse pastry. Everything about it was amazing...the creamy coffee filling was so good! Also the Paris Brest was delicious as well. I wish they would open another patisserie cafe in Brentwood too. read more

First time I arrived at 2 PM. They were wiped out. Got a latte, new employee was being trained, coffee was lukewarm, but still very tasty. No problem, I'm sure they'll get the hang of it. Second time, I arrived at 9:50 AM, the line was around the building, be prepared to wait approximately 50 to 70 minutes, even with 5-7 scrambling employees behind the counter. They are working out the kinks on how to better prepare for the unexpected overwhelming response. That's what happens when you're that good. Many of the baked items were gone by then, including the Mille Feuille I've been dying to try (as a Frenchie, it has been my favorite since I was a child). Some items were being replenished as quickly as possible. Everything we ordered was top notch! But pricey. Quality baking ingredients have become very expensive, and you can taste these fine ingredients in Benoit's pastries. $63 got us: 2 pain au chocolat. 1 tiny lemon meringue tart (best crust ever), 1 tarte fruit rouge (tiny berry tart), 2 marquises (tiny cream puffs - love at first bite), 2 caneles (if you like sweet & chewy, this is the one!), 1 chocolate & praline croissant and 1 Royal (chocolate mousse) my husband's two favorites. Friendly staff and a very involved owner with a desire to improve the service level and speed, and a squeaky clean environment. Absolutely delicious. The pastries are top notch. Perfectly buttery, flakey, and crunchy. They taste straight out of Paris. I always go early, but if you go a little later on the weekends, there is a line. Not a negative in my opinion though, that just goes to show how good they are and how popular they are! Stopped by Maison Benoit this morning and picked up two pastries, a pain au croissant and an almond croissant. The almond looked nothing like what you'd expect a typical croissant to look like. It looks more like a cake with almond filling but the employee said its made with the same flour. Which I assume, they're mostly made with the same flour just different techniques. The pain au croissant was $4.50 and the almond was $6.50. If you want an almond chocolate croissant, its $7.50. There was only one other customer in front of me when I arrived but it still took awhile before I could place my order while the cashier waited for pastries to be picked. It would be helpful if they had more than 1 person taking orders to help move the line forward as a line quickly formed behind me. Maison Benoit also serves coffee/espresso drinks, sandwiches and breakfast items like quiches and croque madame's. The quiches look like they're less than a 1/4 of a pie pan and will run you about $10.50. Sandwiches on baguette will run you about $15. Maison Benoit is a nice addition to DT Danville, but I do think they're priced high. For the cost, I'd prefer the pastries from Easy Bay. read more

I ordered the BLT sandwich, the chocolate croissant, mille fe and the Canali. The BLT sandwich was premade so you could not add or make any changes to the sandwich. For me, there was too much mayo, and I could not remove any of it because you cannot make any changes to the sandwich. There were only two tomatoes on my sandwich so all I was tasting was lettuce and bacon however, the bacon was perfectly cooked and the lettuce was very fresh. Next the chocolate croissant: something was off about it. The flakiness was different than I expected unlike a normal croissant. Although they're the perfect amount of chocolate and other than that amazing it tasted amazing. The mill fe was one of my favorites that I ordered. The top was crispy and sweet. It was amazing and all the layers smashed together had a beautiful taste to it. finally, the Canali, the Canali was not as creamy as I wanted it to be, but it had a very crispy outside and a nice soft inside.
