Got a great deal via TooGoodToGo. I have always wanted to try this place and I received a surprise variety 4-pack of cupcakes. They were so moist and delicious! My husband and I loved the sundae cupcake and chocolate chip cookie cupcake. Definitely would comeback to try their other flavors! Parking was a bit tough during peak hours since it's in the same lot as Trader Joe's and other surrounding shops and eateries. Inside was a bit small and cramped but service was quick. read more

After my girls finished their swimming lesson, they really wanted cupcakes, so I quickly checked Batter N Icing's hours on Google. It showed there were 25 minutes left before closing. I live in Danville and the shop is only about 5 minutes away. To be sure, I called before going, and the employee told me they close at 6:00 and that sales continue until 6:00. When I arrived at Batter N Icing at 5:40, my daughters were excited to choose their cupcakes. However, a blonde woman in her 20s who was working there made a sour face and, in a very mean manner, told us that they were closing in 15 minutes and were not selling anything. We were very disappointed. We have been regular customers for the past three years, but after this experience, I will not be coming back, and I will also warn my friends. This was completely unprofessional. read more

It always smells so good whenever we come here. My girls absolutely love their cupcakes and mini cake cravings. I guess these are popular now. Their cupcakes are very heavy/dense which is a good thing for me. The first time I tried their cupcakes was about three years ago, I believe. One of our students brought assorted cupcakes on his birthday and we all raved about it. Unfortunately it seemed too big for some of the littles; but, we loved it. I do notice that some of the flavors are a little too sweet/heavy though. The employees here are mostly nice. Batter 'N Icing is a small bakery and my girls ask if they can eat their cupcakes in the car; but, it's usually a "wait until we get home" since I don't even see napkins for customers. read more

I ordered my wedding cake from here and Nisha was so helpful throughout the whole process. We came in to taste and were set on anything chocolate and were happy with how many chocolate varieties there were to choose from! It was hard but we ended up choosing chocolate cream and it was the cake of our dreams! So delicious and so beautiful. Nisha executed the look we wanted. They delivered the cake to our venue with no problem. I would recommend to anyone in search for a cake for a special occasion. We will definitely be back! read more

Working with Nisha and her team was easy, fun and $ transparent. The cake was insanely delicious.. even after my event I was already getting into the top tier we have 'saved' in our freezer for our anniversary. Many compliments on the cakes (we served 2 totally different styles of cake) in true fashion, the hubs and I have opposite cake preferences. We served a large Derby sheetcake from Mazettis italian bakery in Pacifica - shout out! Along with this stunning, 3-tier cutting cake that we also served to all. Both got so many questions and compliments! Bay area bakers have serious talent in every direction you look! Our cake was ALMOND FLAVOR WITH ALMOND BUTTER CREAM. Very traditional wedding flavor and very delicious. Delicately adorned with a simple layer of hand placed edible pearls and powdered all over with shimmering glitter. Black ribbon detail at the base of the top and middle tier and topped with our raccoon lovers & event date (purchased from etsy). When my bridesmaid and I picked it up I was very intimidated that it was mostly exposed. They kindly offered to wrap it with the plastic stuff and immediately we all realized that would not work as the wrapping slightly dented the front. Immediately removed the plastic, fixed it as much as they could and re- glittered. We took it as it was and everything was fine from then on. The cake is heavier than it looks so its very bade heavy and transportable. The little bump was no big deal at all and the ride to the city with my friend was HYSTERICAL and such a memory. ...& yes, I made us go completely out of the way to get THIS cake and then drive it into San Francisco with a PACKED car...so that speaks for itself. Everything at batter n icing is delicious and the designs that are alwayssss sitting in the clear cake for pick-up orders are always GORGEOUS and so creative! Thats where I origionly saw the glitter. On the calendar cake! I'll add a photo to this post if I can find it. I was tempted to do different flavors for each tier but I am so glad we went with the cake we did. Passed this while walking to another store and saw little sign saying thank you for supporting small business. On my way back stopped in for a sweet treat to take home. They have a nice selection of cupcakes including gluten free. I decided on 4. The young lady was very pleasant and helpful. I got a Boston cream, death by chocolate, peanut butter chocolate, and another chocolate one I can't remember. They were moist and flavor full. I didn't realize the Boston cream was a white cake base, which I'm not really a fan off, but in the middle of the cake was a nice vanilla pudding. Will come back when in the area. read more

I've used Batter 'N Icing a couple of times. My favorites are the mini's b/c they're pop in your mouth & 1 & done . The perfect little sweet treat . The cupcakes are also available in GF which makes me very happy .They offer different varieties to choose from the lemon & red velvet are my favorites. They are decorated very cute The Boozy are great but I still prefer the regular non Boozy. I also love the convenience of ordering online & when we head out of town it's on our way out . I will continue to order for special occasions . The decor interior is very simple & pink & both times the young ladies at the counter are very friendly & polite & my order is always ready for pick up. They are very organized & very clean. I'm sick of the tip culture at inappropriate places like a cupcake bakery that's only for take-out. No service, no seating means NO TIP. You don't get tips for people to just buy groceries, nor should you need to tip for just buying cupcakes. They have not updated this at all so I won't be coming back. read more

If I could give 6 stars I would! Hands down my favorite cupcake spot. My husband has picked up cupcakes here for us on multiple occasions and they never disappoint! Just the right amount of frosting and toppings with a moist base. You can't go wrong with any flavor. My current seasonal fave is peppermint chocolate - moist chocolate cake with the delicious chocolate frosting and peppermint crumbles. The pictures speak for themselves! A friend surprised me with a Five Nights at Freddy's cake for my birthday and it was absolutely incredible. The attention to detail was amazing, they absolutely killed it. After attending a YEE nearby on 05/12/2023, my buddy David A. and I came here to pick up a few treats for his wife and puppy (they have puppy cupcakes). This tiny shop is located just around the corner from Trader Joe's. Upon entering at around 12:45 pm, we were immediately greeted by a couple young ladies. David had a few questions about their offerings, and they responded with great professionalism and friendliness. David ended up purchasing several for his puppy and several for his wife. David also treated me to a Chocoholic cupcake. I tried it after I got home and it was delicious! The cake was very moist, and the icing had the right amount of sweetness to my taste. I bought two mini cupcake boxes and noticed one of the toppings was off just as I walked out of the shop. I immediately went back inside, less than 20 seconds later, and asked if they could replace that one piece, but they refused since I had already stepped outside. It was my first time trying this place and I was really excited, but the cupcakes tasted just like the ones from any grocery store. So disappointing. I will not be coming back. It is worth driving the extra 6 miles to Cupcakin in Walnut Creek. They have the best cupcakes in the Walnut Creek, Danville, and San Ramon area. read more

I'm not big on cupcakes. It seems like most of the well known cupcake shops focus mainly on the toppings and the cupcake itself is usually plain cake that tends to be more dry than moist and either white or yellow cake. A family friend gave us a box of 6 different cupcakes from Batter 'N Icing. The assortment included Sea Salt Caramel, Red Velvet, Boston Cream Pie, Lemon Drop, Coconut Raspberry and a Cookies n Cream cupcake. All of the cake part of the cupcakes were very moist and not just one white or yellow cake . The Coconut Raspberry and the Lemon Drop had a little bit of filling. I think the Boston Cream Pie might have had filling too. The topping are very tasty with a slight stretchy texture on the chocolate topping that was good. The pretzel on the Sea Salt Caramel cupcake soaked in some of the moisture so it didn't hold its crunchiness. I split the cupcakes with my wife so my half may not have had the filling in the Cookies n Cream so I may have missed out on the cookie texture. Overall the cupcakes are the best that I have tried from the various vendors and shops. I don't know the pricing since they were a gift but I would stop by and buy some myself. read more

My Twin sister and I had the pleasure customizing our 30th Birthday Cake. We went into the store and showed them what we have in mind. We were shocked how much they nailed it! From the flavor to decoration. Batter 'n Icing even offer GLITTER and they GLITTER the WHOLE CAKE! :) The pricing was amazing as well. Inside was delicious funfetti with fluffy and light butter cream (not too sweet). The customer service was exceptional as well. I was originally searching for a place to buy a slice of cake for my daughter's birthday when I came across this business. They had some good reviews so I decided to check them out. I placed an order for 6 cupcakes online. After tasting dry cupcakes from other establishments, I was skeptical on trying these cupcakes. I took one bite of the peanut buttercup cupcake and it was heaven! The icing had good fresh PB flavor and the chocolate cake almost melted in my mouth. Very moist and chocolatey. Next, we tried the birthday cake cupcake. The icing had just the right amount of sweetness, the sprinkles were so pretty, and the vanilla bean cake was just as moist as the chocolate cupcake. My daughter and her friend shared the lemon drop cupcake and they both enjoyed it. They said it had good lemon flavor with the lemon curd filling and lemon buttercream, and again, the vanilla bean cake was moist and tender. The cupcakes were a nice size. We also bought pink vanilla, cookies and cream, and caramel crunch cupcakes. We left those for our daughter to eat and share. Overall, I'm glad I found this cute little cupcake shop. I never knew it existed, and I've been to the Trader Joe's around the corner numerous times. The staff were friendly. I originally ordered 4 of the 6 cupcakes in chocolate and although my daughter likes chocolate, she prefers vanilla. I thought I'd balance the box with half vanilla and half chocolate cupcakes. The staff was more than happy to switch out one of the cupcakes for a flavor that I wanted instead. Try these cupcakes. You won't be disappointed. We'll definitely be back! read more

We recently used their bakery for my partner and I's gender reveal. Left a voicemail and they got back to me ASAP. Process on designing a cake was super easy with beautiful ideas thrown in by the staff for decorating when we genuinely didn't care what the cake looked like. Stopped in same day to drop off the gender and they made it absolutely fun and incredible! They were able to get my order out fast within a 48 hour window and my partner and I were thrilled. They even took care to make sure the colored icing inside wouldn't be seen on the outside. 100/10 service, product and environment. read more

The first time that I was introduced to small cakes was a few months ago when a friend brought them over to the house and picked one out specifically for me which meant that I needed to eat it even though I rarely eat cupcakes. Reluctantly, I ate the strawberry cupcake and I really liked it. This being said, I do not like cakes mostly because they're dry and small cakes is just like nothing Bundt cakes where nothing is dry and you'll always have a moist cake experience which is fantastic. My daughter requested sprinkles for dessert the other day so we went there and grab cupcakes and I ate one just because we were there and it reminded me about Smallcakes and that I needed to go to Smallcakes soon which happened to be today. Today I ordered the chocolate lovers, the Sunday, and the peanut butter cream. I am not disappointed at all. The flavors are great and all of the cupcakes are moist. And this time, it seem like the boss was in the office today and customer service was way better than it was last time with the lackadaisical servers who didn't care that you were there. I wish that the bus is always there because customer service was fantastic today and my cupcakes have no complaints. These are the best cupcakes in town! read more

I stopped by to try Smallcakes after placing an order for lunch elsewhere, and I was glad I did! The cupcakes were on display nicely, and ordering was a breeze. The fam and I tried the following cupcakes - Lemon Drop - Fluffy-ish cake with good texture, with some frosting, cream, dollop of lemon curd. Pretty good for a lemon cupcake. This one seemed to be quite popular! Birthday (or Vanilla Sprinkle) - light vanilla cake with vanilla frosting, covered in sprinkles. The kids enjoyed this one, but the frosting aspect was a bit too sweet for me. Raspberry Almond - almond extract cake with raspberry frosting and some raspberry jelly/jam inside. This one was more fluffy and there was a subtle taste of the almond extract. Pretty good! Cookie Dough - similar vanilla/white cake base with frosting and cookie dough pieces on top and some within the cake. Sweet, but rather interesting. I really enjoyed those cookie dough bits! The 4 cupcakes were packaged nicely in a very colorful box. The cupcakes themselves look better than the box, which is a good thing. The taste was good too, and I'd go back to try some of their other flavors. read more

I decided to stop by Smallcakes since my coworker recommended it. I can honestly say it is better than Sprinkles which is where I usually go. Staff was friendly and offered recommendations. The cake to frosting ratio is perfect and the cake is light. I got the almond raspberry and the pearls on top made it look so pretty. Flavor was amazing and it had surprise raspberry jam inside! Luckily, I was able to throw it up and I found it was the circular puncture tab from the lid. If you're going to use boba like cups then seal them like boba drinks - with the plastic film. Change these cups before someone else gets hurt.

Karen, the owner, took the time to walk me through the sampler box of the different wedding cake flavors, even though it started to get busy in the store she was very kind to make it a personal experience. There were 12 different flavors in the sampler ranging from standard red velvet or vanilla cake, to some fancier ones such as poppy seed cake with lemon curd. Our favorite was the vanilla cake with apricot preserve and we will almost certainly be having that as one of our layers. They were able to make our whole cake gluten-free due to my own allergy. I have had celiac for almost 20 years, and still can't even bake anything remotely edible after countless attempts. The fact that they made this cake gluten free and we all RAVED about it is 1) a miracle in itself and 2) makes me actively very jealous that I can't try their normal baked goods!
