Bread/ pastries...delicious. What can improve? The customer service. Ambiance is busy...could be because it was Labor Day weekend. Went Monday, 9/1, around 12pm. Very busy- no problem but kind of confusing as there are like 3-4 people standing behind the counter, ready to assist you. However, instead of one person assisting you through the entire process, you have to order your pastries from one person, and then move it down the line to get something else such as loaf of bread, etc. However, when you're a newcomer, it's not that clear how it works. A young lady (Caucasian with pony tail) at the beginning of the pastry counter was helping me. Not very friendly... No smiles no greeting, I asked for two pastries and then I asked oh how do I get a loaf of bread. She didn't answer... She just looked at me with a dumbfounded look on her face. I get it, it was very busy, but I would think that they be used to that. As I was trying to navigate how to order a baguette, some rude customer of theirs chimed in thinking that I was trying to cut in line or something, afraid that I was trying to get between him and his pastries. ‍. Instead of making rude comments, how about being friendly and helpful. I don't want to say it was a race thing but both (unfriendly staff and rude customer) were Caucasian... and we are, after all, in Danville. . But I have to say their breads are delicious. I had high expectations for this bakery. The last time I went the pastries were undercooked and the salad was just so-so. I think they're having trouble keeping up with the demand of the long line of customers. Quality is slipping. I may try it again but will surely make the trek over to La Chataigne in Lafayette when I want incredible french pastries and bread. It is always amazing! read more

A very busy French bakery with good pastries and decent coffee. I like to come here to meet with my French friends, we sit outside and speak L'francaise and pretend we are in a cafe in Paris. I have only tried a few of the pastries, but what I had was very good. The chocolate croissant so far is my favorite. Come early if you want to get a seat outside, it's quite the hot spot. I saw this gem on IG and wanted to try it. Low and behold when we were picking up shoes for my daughter and looking for some eats this came up and it was walking distance. We were ecstatic!!!! There was a short line when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a better selection of pastries. Then I realized most of it was probably sold out since it was mid afternoon already. We ended up getting a chocolate croissant, canele (sp), fruit tart, hazelnut pastry, and salmon tartine. My daughter said her salmon tartine was yummy. My son devoured his croissant. I think that was the flakiest croissant I have ever seen. Definitely coming back for more! The tart and hazelnut pastry was good too. The textures were spot on. The canele was not my thing. I think if you like canele this would be amazing. Just not for me. Overall impressed with what we had and want to try more since there wasn't much left. Definitely try for next level French pastries. read more

Ordered their croque monsieur, pain au chocolate, and pain suisse. Would definitely order everything again except the croque monsieur (it was super heavy). Their pastries were fresh, flakey, and their chocolate was perfect. I also had a small iced vanilla latte w oat milk and it didn't taste good (it tasted strange and watery). I don't usually throw out my coffee, but I had to with this one. But they specialize in pastries not coffee, so no hard feelings. read more

Five star well earned as this is the bakery that has the most french offer in the East Bay. Where else can one eat tender chouquettes, light and creamy marquises and this staple of my youth, the brioche au sucre? We went last Monday and ate a parisian sandwich, simple and delicious with cooked ham, cheese and cornichons, and a bayonne sandwich, with cured ham and what we felt like too many toppings, both in a good mini-baguette. Note that ordering a coffee afterwards can be a slow process as one has to join the line with customers ordering their meal. By nice weather, though, grab a table on the terrace and enjoy the food and the experience. And don't forget to grab a chouquette. Or ten. read more

Solid "French" fast food and bakery. The food is pre made and heated after u order ... very tepid temperature, but tastes good enough - served fast and reasonably priced so solid French fast food. The coffee is weak and not good at all and also lukewarm - guess owner drinks it at that temperature? The bakery is fine but overpriced. Of course in the SF Bay Area, we are spoiled and there is a great or excellent "French" bakery every few blocks including all the great Asian chains so again, solid but nothing special that you cannot pick up anywhere a few blocks away at a better price. They also make a TERRIBLE baguette tradition as it's not a French baguette, it's just a bread roll, it's nice it's fresh baked but it is not a baguette ... just go across the street to buy a real baguette from acme or semi freddi... again, in other places, it might be accepted as a baguette but not in the SF Bay Area (or France). So, yes a cute local business and solid fast food but nothing to rave about especially since food is lukewarm temperature wise and coffee poor but prices reasonable, service is fast and place looks cute so as long as your taste buds standards are not high, it's fine. read more

Came here after a bad brunch experience at Crumbs. I am always up for a new pastry experience. Busy place, but the line moves fast. And what they speak French here?!?! I wonder if it's a requirement to work there. They do have a system of how you order. It's by display case. We got a few items: the pan tout chocolat, the pan au chocolat, the royal, both varieties of the eclairs and a choquette, the paris brest, and a marquise. The kids had the croissants, so I did not get to try. The royal was really yummy and rich. I love the little crunchies at the bottom. The coffee eclair was better than the vanilla one. Authentic French delights at Maison Benoit with nice friendly service. A New Favorite Stop for me. I am simple- my go-to items are the Traditional baguette, a Parisian SW w Gherkins, and a small drip coffee. I also enjoy their marquises and Almond Croissant. The bakery is modern and welcoming. The entrance has a glass viewing area to see everyone working hard, kneading raw doughs and getting them ready to be baked off. Yummy smells when first entering. I recommend visiting on their "slow days" and early morning hours to avoid long wait times. Even then, it is still busy! Looking forward to my next visit already! read more

I went here twice in the last week. I went here Monday morning and ordered a latte, a chocolate-almond croissant, a plain almond croissant and a baguette to go. The latte was great. The chocolate-almond croissant at first looked a little too dark but when I ate it, it tasted delicious without being too sweet. The plain almond croissant was also good too. The baguette tasted fresh and paired nicely with a soup I had at home. The service was fast and helpful. There was a decent number of people there without it being too busy. If you only want a coffee they had a tablet stationed right at the entrance that you can use to place an order quickly but if you want pastry you need to order at the counter. I liked this place enough that I suggested we stop by again today with a friend and our kids. While we were standing in front of the case the friendly employee suggested a chicken sandwich which happened to be halal (unexpected surprise but appreciated as someone who eats halal). We also got a raspberry macaron, orange juice, raspberry iced tea and a passion fruit dessert. The iced tea wasn't sweet but I prefer my iced teas not to be sweet so that was to my likening. The passion fruit dessert was sour on the inside due to the passion fruit and pineapple but balanced with a chocolate shell that was just the right amount of sweetness. The sandwich was toasted with cheese, tomatoes and spring greens. We found seating on some comfy couches and low wooden tables that worked for us. It was a busier place to visit at lunch time but the food was still delicious and made quickly. Definitely a place I would love to come back too. The baked goods looked delicious. We stopped in for a sandwich. No surprise, not much that's gluten free on the menu, so I had to buy a loaf of GF bread with which they made my Grilled Chicken. But it was barely warm and the tomatoes were cold. The bacon in my hubbies BLT was cold, and it was served on a fairly hard baguette with no mayo or dressing of any kind. Both sandwiches were dry and boring. Clearly not where they excel. For the two sandwiches, two chips and one can of soda it was $50 plus 20% tip -- even though the sandwiches were brought out ten minutes apart and no one took anything away when we finished. I really enjoyed the exotic pavlova with the passion fruit filling, so delicious and gluten and dairy free! The chocolate croissant was good, not the best I've had, but very rich! This is exactly what the neighborhood needs. Croissants are the very best in NorCal. Slightly sweet and soft on the inside yet crispy on the outside. The pan suisse, croissant, Mille fueille and lemon tart were all our favorites. The Mille Fueille is quite difficult to get things right but oh, they did. I was looking for a 6th star to give but you can't have 6 out of 5, can you? Mind blown! We went there at 1 PM, two immediate things we noticed were that there was a huge queue outside (always a good sign) and nothing left for us to eat. Well, almost nothing. We still tried pain au chocolat and macchiato. I was in Paris last year and this was as close to any renowned Parisian bakery if not better. Absolute perfection! I'm officially a fan, and the fact that it's just a 10-minute stroll from home seals the deal - new top bakery in my books. You gotta check it out! read more

The French pastries here are absolutely incredible! The croissants are perfectly layered, buttery, and crisp--truly some of the best I've had. My husband loved the croque monsieur, though it would have been nice if it was offered warm. That said, I do think the customer service could be better. When I had a question about the drinks, I was quickly told to "look at the menu" instead of getting a simple answer. I specifically asked because I wasn't sure which teas had caffeine. Also, my tea was served piping hot--so much so that I couldn't drink it for about 45 minutes. It would be great if the temperature were adjusted so it's enjoyable right away, especially with such amazing pastries. All in all, the food quality is top-tier, and I'd love to give this place another try. Hoping for a better experience next time! read more

Sorry, but if you want to taste real French pastries you have to go to France! -- I grew up in Europe, so my taste buds are biased -- I just placed a $100 order for my office to do a tasting, re: future breakfast meetings. The pastries look perfect but the flavor is not there: more bready tasting than high patisserie tasting. Sorry, my local patisserie gal in Livermore does a way better job than you guys.
