Oh dear great gem in Kent! One of our friends tracked the owner from Puyallup to Kent. He recommended this as the best Chinese restaurant in town. Boy was he right. The owner Simon is very hospital and will cater to all your need. There is a bar. The restaurant is new and very clean. We are vegetarian and they accommodated us with what we wanted. I travel and stay away from home 3-4 nights every single week. I eat at, literally, hundreds of restaurants every year. This was the worst dining experience I have had in over 5 years. I walked into the restaurant somewhat late in the evening; 8 PM. They were listed as open until 9:30 PM. There was not one single person in the restaurant, which should have been a significant red flag, but this place was right next-door to my hotel and I felt like Chinese food. None of the tables were set and the employees/family members appeared very surprised to see me and behaved as if they weren't sure what to do. I figured possibly they were a newer restaurant and did not allow that to concern me. I asked what beers they had on tap and found they had none. They had one microbrew in a bottle, which I went with. They brought the bottle to me and set it down and left. I usually prefer beer in a glass, but not a big deal. I ordered a combination plate with pork fried rice, sweet-and-sour pork, and Kung pow chicken. The food showed up in less than five minutes. All of it was cold like I had just picked it off a buffet line that had been closed and unplugged for 45 minutes. I began to pick at the food trying to find fried rice that was moist enough to be able to swallow or sweet n sour pork that was soft enough to be able to chew through, but was not having much luck. I had managed 1-2 bites when the young server returned to my table and "plopped" down the check. I was still hungry, but it was time to go. I put paid the check, took a couple more sips of my beer, and then grabbed some nuts and some jerky from the hotel snack bar and called it a night. Do not go here. read more

We LOVE this food. We had the "A" for 2 at lunch. All the tempura fried meats were cooked to order fresh, were crispy & crunchy. The LoMein was fantastic as was the BBQ Pork Egg Foo Yung. The sweet & sour sauce was hot & fresh along with the delicious Almond Chicken Gravy. The service was great and friendly. This was the best Chinese food we have had since last year. The interior decor looks amazing. We will be back, and will recommend this to all our friends and coworkers. We had lots of leftovers to take home and since ALL the sauce and gravy was on the side, our fried meats didn't get soggy and bogged down under the sauce. Win! I tried the website handwritten on the menu, it's not working yet, hopefully soon. This restaurant is smaller than their previous building, but its very nice. It's on the end of a strip of other businesses, but sits basically on the edge of the golf course and next to a hotel or motel. The acoustics in this one is much better than the previous building. There is a bar, but it isn't open yet as they are still waiting for their liquor license. Welcome back Main Garden, you were soooo missed by all your loyal regular customers in Puyallup! Hands down, best Chinese food in Kent. Everything was made fresh to order, and customizable (I don't eat pork). I love that they have a punch card program so you can save in the future. I always call ahead and pick up my order, and it usually takes 15 minutes. They always give an accurate time estimate and never keep me waiting. Word of advice- be sure to ask for a full size plate of fried rice. The complimentary personal size is comical and would feed a toddler. That being said, it is still worth every penny to go large. read more

It's been a few times now and each time I got the curry chicken and bbq pork fried rice. My family always gets the almond fried chicken. But what made me decide to actually type out a review is this orange chicken today... amazing. Ok so orange chicken usually is weird cuts of chicken in my opinion, if you know what I mean. It's always what I call "bouncy meat" LOL and then its usually combined with just small pieces of crunchy breading (think Panda Express). Never actually good meat. But these where good sized pieces, of actual chicken breast, covered in a perfect amount of sauce AND you can do the orange chicken SPICY! Ugh I love it. I'll probably still order the curry more just cause it's sooooo good and I'm more of a savory meat dish person, I tend to only crave the sweeter dishes sometimes. Anyways. Come here. Nope nope nope. Almost $100 for a family of 3 dinner!!! The Food was incredibly sad and gross. Pork "ribs" (picture) were so hard they must have been microwaved leftovers. Chop suey?? Was bland white and flavorless (noodles in chop suey?! Who does that?!) bbq pork on the side was so cold like delivered out of the fridge (NOT EVEN HEATED). Fried shrimp were so oily and doughy. They were obviously fried while prefrozen on a too cool temp for the oil. Gross oily mess!!! Never ordering here again ... even the fortune cookies were unwrapped and fail. This tastes like pre-made Cisco food that's reheated. Not fresh not even heated. I'm so mad I feel like I got taken advantage of. read more

Hits the spot every time. CRISPY fried items (sweet & sour pork, almond fried chicken and egg rolls) always always crispy. Wether you eat in, pick up or get it delivered. Great hot and sour soup. Ordered on Christmas evening, just potstickers, BBQ PORK and hot & sour soup. Hands down best hot & sour soup around. Rich broth, tons of crisp veggies, tofu and green onions to top it off. The broth was super thick and satisfying. I am forever ruined to any other soup, it was that satisfying. The BBQ pork was juicy, thick slices without any of the inedible fat coursing through it. Main garden has delicious Chinese food. Their prices are great at lunchtime you can get a really good deal. A lot of places around here do not have good fried rice or chow mein both of those dishes are on point at main garden. Ordered via DoorDash this evening. Food was put in a box, no tape nothing to actually seal the containers. Door dash driver had the box in his passenger seat, wouldn't be surprised if he opened a box or two. We've ordered out a few times over the span of covid and most places took extra precautions with packaging to ensure it is sealed to avoid tampering. Quality of food was poor. Broccoli beef was pale looking, chicken chow mein was so oily. BBQ beef was strange, very watery texture. This is the first and last time we will order from here. read more

Veg and chicken were all chopped different sizes making it more difficult to eat than it needed to be. Peanuts were served in a side cup and not cooked with the plate. Vegetables were all crisp aside from the baby corn. No peppers, and I ordered it spicy, so must have been just a teaspoon or so of chili paste. Sauce lacked the distinctive tang of a good Kung-pao. Overall, it left me with the impression that they made it with the same sauce they'd make anything else with and threw some peanuts on the side. Switch the proteins and change the bell peppers and it could be any of 10 other dishes on the menu. I'm regularly in the area and doubt I'll return given the superior options not far away. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about the food here. So fresh and flavorful. There were five separate entrees in our group and each one was exclaimed over. We enjoyed our lunch, sitting at an outside table behind the restaurant, scenic, overlooking golf course. Excellent service! Ordered shrimp lo mein, garlic green beans, and Szechuan eggplant. Everything was fresh and tasty and large portions. The beans were cooked perfect. Two suggestions- there were too much onions in all the dishes. Wish the lo mein had more fresh vegetables- maybe bok choy or napa cabbage. And wish the eggplant sauce focused more on heat and was less sweet. The wait staff seemed very responsive. Next time we'll ask specifically for these two adjustments to our dishes. read more

Main Gardens is back! Their previous location in Puyallup was closed on 12/31 and the new one is now open in Kent. Same staff and same GREAT food! The first time trying to find the new location was a little difficult to find. The restaurant is much brighter than the original and has a bank of windows that overlook the golf course. The food was served fast, hot and almost too much to eat. When our family of four (adults) eat here, we get only two family style meals and we still have leftovers. I recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants some great Chinese food. read more

Probably the WORST dining experience ever. There were only 2 other tables in the restaurant when we got there at 5:00. It started out bad, ended bad. We had to flag down the waitress after 15 minutes of waiting to order our food. The egg rolls were so greasy, I couldn't eat mine. When our food came in stages we had no dinner plates. When I asked for dinner plates they brought us a salad plate. I reiterated, a DINNER plate! Really?! The food was cold by now, and we had to ask where our rice was and our appetizer (which we asked for first). No one ever came to ask if we needed anything. The waitress glanced at us and I had to hold up my water glass to get more water. The service is better at McDonald's! I was so disappointed after cooking all week and wanting a break to have a nice, warm, enjoyable meal, it was a bust! Spent almost 70.00. For us that's a lot of money, since we are on Social Security. I'm not exaggerating. If you want good Chinese food go the China House in Auburn. This place is awesome! It is located next to the golf course in Kent. Plenty of parking spaces and easy to find. The restaurant is very clean, also the restrooms. Personnel is friendly and respectful. Now to the most important thing: food. Delicious! We got orange chicken and mu shu shrimp. The chicken was moist, well cooked and big pieces.
