Possibly best burger in Phoenix? Wow the smash burger was perfection with the pickles to balance it. I'm still thinking about it. And it was the perfect size. I'll be back!
Amazing burgers and breakfast sandwiches. Fries are great too. Housemade ranch is so good! Dips and sauces are .50 each which is not bad but remember that when they ask if you want them. Fast service and cute place!! Great location on Main Street in Downtown Mesa.
Today I experienced my first Sonoran hamburger from Main Burger. OMG! It was soooo good! The restaurant is old school burger style. Really fun! The manager greeted everyone and checked to make sure we were having a good experience.
Great location with plenty of parking, a spacious interior, and outdoor seating. The ambiance was really nice. I loved the music and how friendly the staff was. We tried the double bacon cheeseburger with pickles. I'm not a fan of sweet pickles and these were a bit sweet for my taste, so I would skip them next time. The meat itself wasn't very seasoned, but altogether the burger still had a good overall flavor. The fries are fresh-cut and really good. We also had the Sonora burger with house sauce, bacon, caramelized onions, and a cheese crust. It had a solid flavor; not an explosion of flavors, but everything worked well together. Overall, the food was good. Not the best burger I've ever had, but definitely enjoyable and I had a great lunch.
Ever since our first bite of the Chiwas burger, we've been hooked. It instantly takes us back to our trips to Mexico & enjoying those unforgettable street-style burgers. The meat is always cooked perfectly, and the toppings and spices are packed with flavor. The fries come out hot every time and are seasoned just right. And the horchata?! Pure cinnamony goodness - definitely a must-try. On top of the great food, the employees are consistently friendly & make us feel genuinely welcome every time we come back. Definitely a place to try.
Downtown Mesa is forming into an "it" place for food. Opting out of the chain restaurants of most of vibey strips in AZ (DT Gilbert, Scottsdale, etc...). Instead are a bunch of small business owner making their stake in this world. Main Burgers is just that. Right across the street from one of the few chain restaurants "Pedal Haus" is this cool little burger joint. They have a nice musical vibe with a varied mix. Very varied. Super cool. My wife had the classic burger and fries. She said it was delicious. Ranking up there with anything else she likes... The Five Guys, 7 Brothers, or In N Outs of the world. Sesame seed buns are always a plus. I had the Chiwas Burger Protein style. The patties were cooked great with just enough seasoning to give the meat flavor but not take away from the flavor of the meat. The sauce was amazing. It added a sweetness that distract from the small subtle bite of the spicy peppers. Full disclosure, I've been dabbling in spicy lately but still very much overreacted to anything over a super mild. The kicker was the slice of ham on top. Something about mixing pork and beef together that just works. In all this a great burger spot. What you are looking for when you want to go out and have a burger and beer and just chill for a minute.
Not gonna lie, I had to come here two days in a row to give a solid opinion. The first day I got a classic double and it had caramelized onions on it. Now, I truly think it's a sin to put caramelized onions On a classic unless you're at a White Castle but that's me. Day two, I ask for raw onions and they were more than happy to make it that way. They literally cook this on a grill right in front of you so you know it's done exactly right. The patty is perfectly salted and fried by a master grill man. This is a burger to champion fat and drunk people. Do you want to call me a liar? There is literally a brewery right across the street... test me bitch!!! Also, not to mention... they also serve Cider Corps beer if you are lazy!!! This is a perfect sober day burger or a drunk evening burger. Highly recommend...
This spot is a great go to for a quick bite, especially when you want something easy but still really good. We love coming here for a quick dinner, and the food never disappoints. You can tell the owners know what they're doing. They also own several well known restaurants in the area, and that experience shows in the quality and flavor. The burgers are elevated with Southwest and Mexican inspired ingredients that make them stand out from your typical burger joint. They also offer wings and salads, so there's something for everyone. Everything we've tried has been fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. Definitely a solid option when you want a fast, delicious meal without sacrificing quality. We were so hungry I ate without taking a picture! Guess we need to come back
Today I got the hot dog. It was delicious! Usually I get the Sonoran burger which was my favorite until today. Now I'm torn. I'm going to have to alternate from now on. Food is always great. All the burgers are good. The fries are crispy and the food came quick because I was here right when they opened. It's always crowded here because it's so good. There's tables inside and outside.
We were in the area for an event and when I saw a joyful burger mascot I knew it was go time. WOW wow wow, first they were busy, but the service was amazing. The order taker knew the food, made recommendations, and even brought us our food. The big draw is green chilis. I love me some green chilis and woohoo. Their burger chiwas and breakfast burger were both amazing, juicy, spicy, and cooked to perfection. Their fries were crisp even with the cheese on top which was a big win. The food is hot, fresh and delicious. My burger was so good I didn't even get a chance to take a picture. Fries are fresh and crispy. Soda machine and area is clean with soda being crispy. Very neat and cute ambiance inside and out with service being friendly and professional
Good Ranch. Absolute masterpiece, Main Burgers bringing the vibes, customer service and ranch to Mesa that the people need. These owners might be James Beard recognized but this thick tangy beauty is what gets my top award, "Good Ranch." if you want to get a little weird you can also try the spicy sister; jalepeno ranch with some southwest flair. Overall F-in kudos mate.
So tasty! I'm not a burger girl. Meat eaters rejoice, Mesa is on the map. You may have converted this steak eater. Burgers are thin so get 2. I kept my order simple. Main course double burger with cheese surrounded by lettuce. Super juicy results and dam delicious dirty fries. Green chile, liquid cheese (in the 80s we used to chug this stuff) fries are fresh potatoes and actually salted. Hip hip hooray for people that work hard and produce delicious results. After attending a show at the Mesa Arts Center, I stopped by Main Burger for some late night eats. Located in downtown Mesa, while they don't have a parking lot, you can find free street parking pretty easily close by. Ambiance (3.5/5): Main Burger has a few tables inside and a good number more outside on the patio. The weather was nice, so I grabbed a table outside. There's a mix of table seating and picnic tables out there. You place your order at the counter and they call your name when your food is ready. Service (4/5): You order at the counter so service isn't a big part of the experience. With that being said, the guy working the counter was nice and answered my question. My food came out within a reasonable amount of time. Solid. Drinks (4/5): While they have alcohol, I went with an agua fresca. They had three options. I had the pineapple (pina). I love a good agua fresca (fresh fruit juice). Food (2.5/5): Simple menu with three burgers and one or two non-burger options. I went with the Mexican burger, no fries, as I wasn't too hungry. The burger was a hit and a miss. I was impressed with the quality of the ingredients e.g. a fluffy, fresh bun, crisp veggies, and a delicious smashburger-style patty. So what was the issue? The patty on the single is so small and thin that the burger doesn't have enough balance. It needed more heft to deliver at a high level. Smashburgers tend to be thin, but this was the thinnest I've ever had. Give me the meat! read more

Was in Mesa for a conference and stepped out for lunch. Looked up a few different places and ended up here at main burger! The menu is very simple which is nice because you don't have a million decisions to make. The service was great and despite being busy, they were really prompt on every order placed. The burger was very smash burger style but with house sauce and sautéed onions, it was the perfect amount of crispy and moist. The flavors were on point. The fries were hand cut style and crispy which I love but a few were just a tad too hard. Soft drinks and free refills really made this place shine. It is a tiny place so if you go right at lunch time you might wait for a table. Would definitely come back here again. Happy to have stumbled across this place! read more

Went to Main Burger shortly after it opened up in downtown Mesa. There was a ton of hype around it so I had to check it out. It's a cool little spot, inside vibes are very much like an old time burger diner, which I loved. The staff were friendly and helpful. I got the Double Chiwas (roasted green chile) burger. It was pretty good! It was definitely worth a try but not a jaw dropping experience. Scale of 1 - 10, I'd go back but not going out of my way to make it happen. read more

I am glad we finally made it out here. I had a tough day after work last week, and my husband ended up not making dinner so we got some burgers! They have their own parking lot, but right behind them is public and free parking with many more spaces. The inside is a little small, but there is a plenty of seating outside. They make everything to order, so you can smell the grill once the order goes in. We ordered the Classic burger, single patty, the hotdog, and a cheesecake. The classic burger was pretty good - loved their pickles! Next time, we will try the other burger styles as it might give us the little oomph we were hoping for. The hotdog though was TOP TIER. It came with beans, cojita, chilies - it was just a dream. This was a great spot to try out, and the aesthetic was pretty cute too! read more

Stopped by for dinner and it stayed busy the whole time we were there. We were helped a few mins after we arrived and the cashier was friendly. I ordered a plain double cheeseburger combo with toppings on side and my sister had a double Chiwas burger. We sat outside on the patio and the cashier brought us our food. The burgers came out hot and smelled delicious. My cheeseburger was good. The meat was cooked well, juicy, and had a lot of flavor. The chiwas burger was really messy and the bread quikcly became very soggy and it fell apart after a few bites. The flavor was good though. In total paid $43 for two burgers, one drink, and order of fries. read more

New burger joint in DT Mesa, used to be the old Subway sandwich shop. This is an upgrade for sure but I really wanted to like it more. Came in wanting to give 5 stars. Starting with the positives- it's very cute now, it was quick, and food was decent. I ordered the Chiwas burger -- single patty. Shared some of my friend's fries. It Was good, but not great. I thought I would be wowed but I just wasn't. I am a self proclaimed burger lover, and so I enjoyed it but I thought given the new place, higher prices, and mention of award winning chef it would be one of the better burgers I've had. It wasn't. And the connection to tacos Chiwas set my expectations higher since I love them. I might give it another try next time I'm over in the area. Not opposed to it. I actually see this place as 3.5/5 but Yelp doesn't do half stars (even though they should) and I don't want to down rate a new local place trying to get business going. So it's 4 stars with that in mind. read more
I had a double Chiwas burger and it was really good. It had a lot of flavor and the meat was cooked well. The burger was a good size but it got to be very soggy right away. The bread started to break and was mushy. Service was great. The cashier was friendly and even brought us our food outside. I would come again. read more
Caught some sunshine this weekend and stopped by Main Burgers with my spouse -- and wow, the Chiwas burger was the real MVP. I also tried the Sonora, which was solid, but that Chiwas? I'm already planning my next visit just for that one. The fries were crisped to perfection (the way fries should be), and the patio seating made it a great spot to chill and people-watch near the light rail. I wasn't blown away by the cheese sauce, but that's minor -- there's so much more I want to try from their menu. Service was quick and friendly, though I wouldn't have minded a little more energy from the staff. Still, overall vibe was chill and inviting. If you're in the area, this spot's definitely worth checking out. Bonus points for the bright pink baskets and that ice-cold Jarritos to wash it all down. read more

Recommended by Joes Barber Shop in Mesa (great barber) for the notorious "local cuisine", the SONORA HOTDOG. Didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. One of the best dogs I've ever eaten, my buddy got the Sonora Burger, he loved it. Fries were bomb, sauces were on point, and it was very clean and the staff was very nice and gave good insight on the different foods they had. Small menu, which was nice cause it was easy to make a decision, and will definitely go back during my visit to Mesa. Heavily recommend for you taste of the local food read more
A definite upgrade from the old Subway that was here previously! We stopped by one night just before a big crowd came in (lucky!) There is some parking in their lot, but not a lot. The menu is simple (basically, burgers, dogs, salad, fries and cheesecake) and ordering is easy. I got the burger, double, Chiwas style. That's the one with cheese, green chiles, ham, onions and more. It came out with the melting cheese slowly sliding down the side of the burger, telling me to eat it NOW. The patties were very flavorful and the combination was tasty--ham on a burger, who knew? The chiles that evening were not very spicy, but still good. Overall, the combination worked for me even though it was really messy. I shared a side of fries with my wife and it was plenty with the double burger. Service was fast and the place was clean. read more
