This review is long overdue as I've been to this location a couple of times in the last few years. Recently, I took my boyfriend to try as he was in town. The staff is always incredibly friendly and offered suggestions. We were intrigued by their nacho dish as I'm known to make a mess with their regular chimney cones. lol. Date night didn't need to end in me wearing half the treat. Thankfully, these were a little easier to eat! We came for him to experience, so I had a few bites but let him eat most of it. After trying, I think I prefer the Oreo Chimney Cake Cone that I had last year, though the Barcelona is also really good. He definitely enjoyed and said when in the area, he'd love to have again to try some other treats to share. Love the uniqueness of their product and recommend for anyone looking for something different for dessert.
My brother is a yelpie, and he made it thru to the events invite list and I accompanied him. My brother just got his braces put on or adjusted, and he couldn't bite on harder stuff. Lucky me, I ended up eating mostly. My brother is a yeppie and he was invited to the yelp event in which I accompanied. My brother ended up picking a chimney cone and a cold caramel macchiato. So how do I best explain a chimney cone? It's not a cone, but almost a tumbler, that looks like a crispy churro (the one we got) with vanilla ice cream and a lite cinnamon sprinkle. They have savory options as well. The service was fast and friendly. Ambience is acceptable, a small upgrade could do wonders They have multiple locations. The menu on the website was taking forever to open

Just got back from Europe and was craving chimney cake. This place's chimney cake is just as good as the one I had in Hungary--just a little smaller.
I had an opportunity to try this family owned business on a hot day a few weeks ago. Such a great concept and delicious and artful presentation! I'm silly for anything Nutella and it hit the spot! Well done folks! Super friendly and informative staff and owners! Do it, do it now!!!!
First time visiting AZ Chimney Cakes and won't be my last. Right when we entered we were greeted and explained what was on the menu. We ordered the Barcelona signature cone and a white chocolate mocha drink. The signature cone was crispy on the outside and went well with the vanilla soft serve. The white chocolate mocha wasn't too strong for my liking. It was packed inside, so it took awhile for our order to be served. Although the wait was a bit long, it was definitely worth it.
I went in and got a strawberries and creme chimney cake. The outside of the cake was nice and crispy, without being overdone while the inside was soft and fluffy. It was a perfect balance and very well executed. The woman taking my order was very friendly and helpful, even giving me an overview of their cakes, a brief on the cakes origins, and offered to let me try the Bavarian creme before ordering. I really enjoyed the cakes and found that it was an awesome hot summer afternoon treat. Next time, I will try it with ice cream which I suspect might make it even better. The only feedback I would have for this place would be that the cups take away from the esthetic of the chimney cake and it might be better served in a cone shaped paper product like the ones you might find at a crepe shop.
This is a great hidden gem in Mesa that deserves more attention. It's summer season and they have some cool delicious sweet and savory treats on their menu. The chimney cakes are made fresh daily and they're so fun and different from a traditional cone. Customer service was great! Their plenty of space to dine in our take it to go and enjoyed the Mesa Riverview area.
OK, new favorite spot found! Not only did I come back from Europe, craving a chimney cake, but I found one in my own neighborhood. I transported back abroad, and the energy inside was truly amazing. A family owned place, and the love is shown! I felt like family the minute I walked in. Can't wait to be back!
I had been seeing reviews for this place on Yelp and told wife we have to go check them out! The photos I was seeing were so intriguing! We arrived in the later afternoon on a Saturday and there were a couple of other people inside. We walked in, were immediately greeted, and as we chatted about their business, we learned that this shop is owned and operated by mom and her daughters. We LOVE supporting family businesses! We learned that they offer catering and have a food truck you can hire as well. Loved learning about these pastries and how they are made. Not only do they offer sweet fillings but also savory ones. Today we were seeking sweet! Their menu offers lots of variations and you can get custard or ice cream choices. Love the different names of each creation. I had the Munich, which is filled with some of the creamiest, slightly sweet Bavarian Cream. And a lot of it! The outside of the chimney cake is coated in cinnamon sugar. My wife chose one of the specials that had cherries and ice cream. Both were so good!!! The chimney cone itself is made with a dough and then rolled and baked in these special ovens. They are crispy and yet soft in the middle. I took a ton of pictures to share! Repeat visits for sure!
This is a family run business. The staff tonight was the owners. They were all very, very nice. They were helpful in deciding what I wanted. When I could not decide they asked what type of dessert I like best and I said Boston cream pie. Thus, the creation of "Chris' Special".
Saw this place on IG post that my wife sent me before our trip to Scottsdale and trust me it was worth the stop!!! If you're in the Scottsdale AZ take the quick trip to Mesa and go to AZ Chimney Cake it's worth every cent!!!
Not only are these ladies fun to be around, but this family owned business is incredibly unique! A chimney cake, is a traditional Hungarian pastry - fresh dough wrapped and baked until golden brown, and rolled in cinnamon sugar, nuts, or other toppings. It's light, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and super tasty! I was able to try so many different treats, both sweet and savory! Along with chimney cakes, they also have a coffee & fun refreshing beverages! The serving is top notch and everyone serves your chimney cake with a smile!
Located in a shopping strip with plenty of parking. The staff was friendly and patient with our first time experience ordering. I ordered the Bavarian cream/strawberries with original/cinnamon/sugar for the cone. My friend ordered the same cone but with Bavarian cream and apple pie with caramel drizzle. I stopped by AZ Chimney Cakes on a Saturday afternoon for a sweet treat. I've gotta say...I was pretty pumped going into it. AZ Chimney Cakes specializes in Kürtöskalács, a.k.a chimney cakes, an incredible dessert that originated in Hungary. I have Romanian roots and Kürtöskalács are quite popular in Romania. That's where I had my first chimney cake. Located in the same shopping center as a movie theater, a Japanese restaurant, and a bunch of other businesses, I parked without any issues in the free back lot and walked over. Ambiance (4/5): A cozy dessert shop. I felt right at home when I saw a map of Bucharest by the entrance. You order at the counter and then they bring your order out to you. We sat at a table close to the door. Service (5/5): Friendly service and we were fortunate enough to chat with the owner for quite a bit. We learned about the history of the dessert spot and how they're trying out some new ideas. Nice lady. Drinks (N/A): No drinks for me on this visit. Food (5/5): If you've never has a chimney cake, you're in for a treat. They're made to order and customizable. More so than anywhere I've ever seen. You choose your base, toppings, additions, and drizzles. I went with the traditional chimney cake with Biscoff cookies, vanilla ice cream, and Nutella drizzle. Outside of the dessert options, which are the way to go for first timers, if you're feeling adventurous, they also have one or two savory options. The chimney cakes are served warm and absolutely delicious. They're filling too so come with an appetite. It's one of those things everyone should try at least once in their lifetime. Came in for a Yelp event and then came for my sons treat for his bday. So right when you walk in your greeted at the counter she explained the menu to him, his favorite is usually Oreo so he went with the Oreo and it looked as good as it tasted I had to try a bite .. plenty of area to sit inside or some benches outside , inside decor is a Eastern Europe theme since European deserts, bathroom available as well several other options. read more
We came for an event, but I wanted to buy some items so I can review the site directly! I ordered the s'mores cookie and a cinnamon roll with frosting. The cookie was really good, it had a graham cracker as the base, and amazing goodness everywhere else. The cinnamon roll on the other hand, tasted like one in the store. This place wasn't bad, I definitely want a chimney cake with ice cream, instead of cream! The cookies were really good, I'll be back for those *drool* read more
After looking over the menu, I decided that I wanted to go with the dessert nachos, which is a cinnamon sugar covered chimney cone cut into pieces and I asked for it "Barcelona style", which means it comes with whipped cream, soft serve vanilla ice cream, and strawberry pieces and chocolate drizzle, but since I'm not a chocolate fan, I did substitute that for caramel drizzle. And then I saw that you can add fillings so I added cheesecake filling to that and banana slices! NOW when I tell you, I couldn't get the food into my mouth quick enough I really mean it. This was one of the MOST satisfying desserts I have had in a long time! The chimney nacho pieces remained crunchy sugary and cinnamon filled throughout the entire experience. The layered cheesecake cream and soft serve was sooooo good and the freshness from the banana and strawberries was epic! read more
This place is very cute and clean inside. I love the decor and European vibe it gave off. I tried a cheesecake sample which tasted like banana pudding. It was soo good. My bf had the blueberry cheesecake which I tried and that was also tasty. My son tried the Oreo cheesecake. I didn't try his but he said it tasted like peaches and nothing like Oreo. Whatever it was he still ate it and said it was good lol so if he's happy. I'm happy. I'll definitely be back to try the banana pudding cheesecake. I'm not huge on sweets but when I get a sweet tooth, I will definitely be trying this place again. 5 stars. read more

Delicious bakery tucked away next to a movie theater. Fresh made chimney cake with amazing toppings and creams to fill the cake with! The Bavarian cream was a delectably sweet cream. Top it with strawberries and voila, heaven! Make sure to allow 15 min for bake time. They also have cookies and drinks. This place deserves more attention for the fantastic freshness and European flare! read more
This place is a TREAT! I found this delicious dessert by chance and it was such an experience! The chimney cakes are have a great crust on the outside and you can chose what topping like coconut, cinnamon sugar, or nuts. And then the inside of the cake is soft and a little doughy. I chose to add ice cream and their dairy free option was dole whip! They had pineapple and orange. My friends all loved their choices and the cone cones in a cup so that when the ice cream melts you aren't a mess. The store is cute and a little corky. The tables have a sign on them of a menu item which I thought a nice touch. The girl who helped us was rather new and didn't know much about the menu. So no fault to her. I hope that they are able to expand their dairy free options! read more

We are here last month and very much enjoyed it! The dessert was warm and freshly made. They had a nice location too. Lots of variety to pick and choose from as well. Our favorites had the Oreo and banana filling, as those were tasty!! read more

I don't think there are any other places that sell chimney cakes. I love how the outside has a nice crunch to it. Since it is very sweet, it is best to share with someone else. The cinnamon sugar on the outside makes it like a churro. You can get different fillings. I got the ice cream in mine with a whip cream topping. You order and pay at a register and then pick up your chimney cake when it is ready. read more

AZ Chimney Cakes How do you describe a chimney cake/cone, there is a video inside that shows the process, looks like dough is made, then wrapped then cooked on the outside leaving the outside with a firm crusted donut and the inside a little gooey. Then they glaze the exterior of your choice Dole Whip Pineapple with cinnamon glazed chimney cone was a icey Dole Whip rather than a creamy Pineapple Dole Whip, still good, but don't expect the Disneyland style Dole Whip Lotus Biscoff cinnamon sugar, vanilla Gelato, cookie biscoff, cookie butter good overall flavor blend, the. Cashier said that this was one of the 2 top sellers. Fun little shop situated next to the cinema theater. Good change of dessert read more

Sweet staff. I was kind of hopomg this to be more European, maybe have the owner there. We're hungarian wanted to see how authentic this place was. So, they lost a star for that. I tried the Nanner and split it with my dad. 3hrs later, I'm still munching on it. Sweet and yummy.... I can't wait to try a different one next time. I swapped the whipped cream for the custard and it was not overly sweet. Definitely worth trying at least once. I kind of wish they had a small and large option. read more

The place is inviting had tables and a couple couches which we sat in. The girl at the counter was very nice and helpful with explaining everything. My husband got one with gelato and I got one with custard. My cherry cheesecake and my husband got the Legend. Both very good I would definitely go back. read more
Wow, such a unique dessert that is really hard to find! Chimney cakes are Eastern European desserts that are known for their pastry cone. Service was good and friendly, happy to make recommendations to first timers. Lots of seating. They do recommend eating it there on hot summer days since it melts really fast if you get the ice cream version. I needed to get home quickly so we took it to go, and yes it was melting really fast in the car LOL. Had to eat the top portion quick. We got the Berliner. Cinnamon sugar cone with vanilla bean soft serve, fudge drizzle, and reese's. It was HUGE. Great for sharing. The soft serve was good but a tad too sweet for us. I love Reese's but realized it gets really hard when with ice cream lol. I don't like the huge contrast in texture. The cone itself was so good. Pillowy dough yet crispy on the outside. Reminded me a bit of a cinnamon roll. The Reese's were layered and I got some at the top, middle, and bottom of the cone. I hope to return sometime to try other flavors. read more

Looking for a new dessert to try?! Come get yourself a chimney cake! As a first timer, the employee taking our order explained everything on the menu and how to order. You choose your chimney cake and inside filling. We got the coconut cake filled with pineapple/strawberry ice cream filling. Peer delicious! The cake was chewy and crispy. Next time, I would want to try the Nutella and nut flavor! Clean tables, friendly employees, clean bathrooms. The owner came up to us and said hello. Super welcoming. Glad we stopped in!
