Suggested the best way to send the envelope since it had some important info in it. When we left we were very pleased with the service & definitely plan on going there for our shipping needs in the future! Oh!! and they also sell packing supplies and have a kind of gift shop too! The gentleman in line behind me said something outrageously bigoted but hey, that's not the fault of the post office. It did smell a little bit musty inside. Might be due for a deep cleaning.

It was very easy to mail my package and Jennifer was very kind. I would for sure come here again if I was in the area. She takes her time with customers but doesn't take forever either. Great service and great location.

It's surprisingly difficult to write a review for a post office because, honestly, what exactly are…read moreyou supposed to say? This is the Centredale Post Office in North Providence, and my experience here has been pretty much exactly what you would hope for from a post office: I come in, take care of whatever I need to take care of, and leave. I've never had a genuinely bad experience here, but I also can't say I've ever walked out thinking, "Wow, what an exceptional post office experience." I'm usually here for something pretty basic, either buying stamps or occasionally sending a package, and the process has always been smooth. The employees I've dealt with have been perfectly pleasant and helpful, and I've never encountered the kind of surly, miserable customer service that seems to be a rite of passage at some government offices. The building itself is clean, and there is a good amount of parking, which is actually a bigger deal than it sounds. The location on Smith Street is convenient, although pulling out onto Smith can be a little annoying when traffic is heavy. My one real complaint is the lunch situation. There have been times when I've shown up during the middle of the day only to find the counter closed for lunch, and the timing has seemed somewhat arbitrary. On one occasion I came around 2:00 PM and they were closed for lunch. I came back the following day around noon and, again, they were closed for lunch. Maybe there is a perfectly logical staffing schedule behind it, but from the customer's perspective it can feel like trying to guess when the post office has decided it is lunchtime. The posted retail hours are generally 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on weekdays, but a midday closure can be frustrating if you have a package that needs to go out or simply need to buy stamps and have limited flexibility during the workday. Overall, though, this is a perfectly adequate neighborhood post office. It's clean, there's plenty of parking, the staff have always been nice to me, and the basic transactions I've needed have been handled without any drama. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this particular post office, but if you live in North Providence or happen to be in the Centredale area, there's really nothing here that would make me avoid it either. Three stars feels about right: competent, convenient, and perfectly fine, just not exactly an experience worthy of a commemorative stamp.

I have an online business and I literally mail…read morethings out every day so I come here every day and I need to update my review to say that literally all the women and female employees that work here are AMAZING- they always go above and beyond!! I could probably be considered an "annoying client" because I often try to pick stuff up when I know it is there- but they always have no issue and happily do it! I also like to come in close to closing time (which isn't really that big of a deal bc all my labels are prepaid) but when I see the door locked and closed at 11:58 on Saturday's and on 4:58 during the week I get really upset because they shouldn't be closing early no matter what! But come to find out it's a gentleman who always closes 2 minutes early! It's a man that is constantly closing 2 minutes early- so kudos to the women who work here but the man who constantly closes early that's not right and it almost caused me to avoid this PO completely. If it weren't for the women who have helped me the last few times I've been in- I may not have returned! So thanks ladies for being consistent and amazing ! And the guy who closes early- PLEASE DO NOT!!!!

The average wait is usually about 10-15 minutes, so it's really not a problem, however there's usually some dumb-ass at the counter being unreasonable about something or other. It's similar to watching a real life talk show because you get to hear all of their complaints and problems. Such drama. The folks that work here are helpful and pleasant. They have always been eager to assist and are efficient and professional. There's usually only ever one or two people working the counter even though the building is huge, so I'm not sure how many people are doing other tasks in the back. I really appreciate the US postal system and how efficient and convenient they are. I enjoy having my mail delivered to my house and have a lot of respect for the letter carriers who make their deliveries everyday in all types of weather.

Clerks who feel the need to constantly over explain every minute detail of a transaction regardless of what the customer asks. They also allow people to get in-line who are clearly not even close to ready to send a package and then allow them to cut back into the line when they are ready. Customers should be told to have their package READY TO SHIP!! Do not go to the register with a pile of loose papers and ask questions then think you don't have to wait in line again. The waiting is honestly insane. How can you be constantly busy but only have one clerk. It's not like it's a sudden rush. This post office is always busy and the clerks and the wait are always ridiculous. The worst part is that the clerks are not even sympathetic when you get to the front of the line to ship one item after waiting 30-40 minutes in line. This system clearly needs to be streamlined. How about self serve kiosks for flat rate packages? We can't all print our shipping at home so why not make it easier in the post office. Clearly the postal workers have jobs for life because they do not care in the slightest about the speed of their work, the care of a package or the time we will waste waiting for them. And god forbid if a package gets lost.... it's like "oh well... your loss". I honestly have nothing good to say about the postal service at all but this location is one of the worst!!!

But when I have needed window service, I have had polite and friendly help. Shoutout to Red!! Clerks have gone above and beyond for me, like when I've forgotten to cover something on a box which might affect delivery. Give respect, get it. I've learned, through talking to these folks, that sometimes there are circumstances beyond their control. People complaining don't seem to get that they have rules they need to follow. They care about their jobs, and they know what they should be doing and how to do it. Town Hall is across the street and despite a sign politely requesting only Post Office customers to use their lot, Town Hall customers park there, so it's not always as crowded as it might look. Lines can be long, yes. Many times there is only one clerk available, and since they do passports here, which take a LOT of time... well. There are also a lot of folks who require help with their packages. A lot of elderly folks and people who don't do it often enough to know how things work. If all you have is a dropoff, you're good. Please give the clerks a break, sometimes it really does take a while to give folks the service they need. I have seen people come into this place literally 2 minutes before closing, with a package that's STILL OPEN, and not even addressed. You think they're going to be happy about that!? Of course not. But they still spend a good 10-15 minutes helping anyway, advising folks of their options, taping up, etc. Sometimes scans take a while and there have been times when I checked tracking for my packages and didn't see a scan there for a few hours, but jeez, if you buy your labels online then you have a record, so no sweat. If there is a long line, and you really must have a scan of half a zillion packages and receipt printout and will snarl if you don't get it... I'd suggest going instead to the "basics" branch in the Four Seasons gas station at the intersection of Pawtucket & Waterman a mile or two away. Usually no line there.
