I LOVE this local Grove Street PO and the people there. Most of the time I have pre-labeled parcels to drop off, so no wait. But when I have needed window service, I have had polite and friendly help. Shoutout to Red!! Clerks have gone above and beyond for me, like when I've forgotten to cover something on a box which might affect delivery. Give respect, get it. I've learned, through talking to these folks, that sometimes there are circumstances beyond their control. People complaining don't seem to get that they have rules they need to follow. They care about their jobs, and they know what they should be doing and how to do it. Town Hall is across the street and despite a sign politely requesting only Post Office customers to use their lot, Town Hall customers park there, so it's not always as crowded as it might look. Lines can be long, yes. Many times there is only one clerk available, and since they do passports here, which take a LOT of time... well. There are also a lot of folks who require help with their packages. A lot of elderly folks and people who don't do it often enough to know how things work. If all you have is a dropoff, you're good. Please give the clerks a break, sometimes it really does take a while to give folks the service they need. I have seen people come into this place literally 2 minutes before closing, with a package that's STILL OPEN, and not even addressed. You think they're going to be happy about that!? Of course not. But they still spend a good 10-15 minutes helping anyway, advising folks of their options, taping up, etc. Sometimes scans take a while and there have been times when I checked tracking for my packages and didn't see a scan there for a few hours, but jeez, if you buy your labels online then you have a record, so no sweat. If there is a long line, and you really must have a scan of half a zillion packages and receipt printout and will snarl if you don't get it... I'd suggest going instead to the "basics" branch in the Four Seasons gas station at the intersection of Pawtucket & Waterman a mile or two away. Usually no line there. read more

This East Providence Post Office location on Grove Street is a great option for postal services. Though I used to live in EP and use this location on the regular, it is such a convenient location right off 195 that I still use it when travelling through the area. Located on a road behind East Providence City Hall, there is a small lot and ample street parking available. The building itself is beautiful and I love some of the older architectural style inside. I wish I knew more about the history of the building itself. This postal location is one of the few that seems to have ample boxes and packaging available each and every time I walk in. The staff are always friendly. If you hit it at the right time, the lines aren't bad either. My only gripe is that the line seems exceptionally slower than other postal locations when it is lengthy. I was only in the Grove Street post office for a couple of minutes and that should tell you how efficient they are! I only had to wait a second before someone was able to help me. It's also conveniently located across from East Providence City Hall, so you can get all of your business done pretty quickly. read more

I usually frequent the post offices in Providence, but ended up stopping by this location recently because it was closer to work. I was surprised by how convenient and quick my visits were! There is plenty of parking to the side of the building, and there were staff present even during lunch hours. They were friendly and prompt, which is more than you can ask for. read more

Being asked how many packages I have is 100% unacceptable. It shouldn't matter how many packages I have! It's you literally your only job to wait on people. I'm a person, with a lot of packages. And to be told I need to take them "downtown" and have to wait in a 30+ min line? No. It's not happening. You will scan and take all my packages. BEWARE! Dropped off a package on March 10 and it was never scanned invapparently and the package disappeared . It never left the post office ! The recipient never received the package . The post office said there is nothing that can be done and unable to give any sort of refund . DO NOT use this post office and make sure wherever you go they scan the package right in front of you .
