I was tickled to see the strawberry butter and biscuits are a take-out option and grabbed a couple. Other than that the food is pretty basic. Think cafe drinks and food, nothing fancy and be prepared to pay "Magnolia prices" for both coffee and pastries. It was a decent weather day so we stood outside at a high table to eat our food, but it truly is meant for "take away" as there is no indoor seating and sparse outdoor space as well. I had reservations at Magnolia table for a Saturday at 8:30 AM. This may be a new trend, but when I showed up at 8:30 they said they would mark me as arrived and let me know when my table is ready. I was always under the impression that a reservation was to have a table ready in the first place. We had the biscuits with the butter flight as an appetizer and it was OK. They bring the biscuits out on a little cast-iron plate, which is decorative, but I thought the biscuits might be at least warm. They were not. I had the eggs Benedict and the poached eggs still had runny whites. All at all, it was just an average breakfast. The service was average as we had several different people come by to bring us things, but our waiter didn't even bring us everything we asked for. Have to say Joann Gains put together a top notch restaurant!!!! Not only is the establishment absolutely beautiful the staff and food are the best. We started our lunch off with the devil eggs and bacon. OMG this is a must order. The devil are super creamy and full of great flavor. The Brown Sugar Bacon should come with a warning that it will be highly addictive!!! This was served with a jalapeño jam that went great with both. For a main dish I ordered the pimento grilled cheese sandwich with the tomato basil soup. Both were outstanding and definitely homemade!!!! My wife got the cobb salad with fried chicken fingers. The salad was huge. The chicken was some of the most flavorful chicken I've ever had!!!! Wished we lived closer so we could try more of her creations!!! FYI make reservations!!!! The place is attractive and clean. Service was fine. Maybe a little slow. Very friendly. The food was ok. Nothing to write home about. Prices were reasonable. Saying all that, would I go back? We recently tried Magnolia Table for Saturday brunch and it was overall A-Ok. I had the French toast breakfast, opting for bacon and added an over-medium egg. The food was ok. The egg was not over medium (it was fully cooked thru). We had a party of 5 and some enjoyed their food, some was like 'meh'. We must have a new-ish server because while she was nice, she spilled (just a tiny bit) of anything liquid she served. But honestly, we were there because of the brand. It's almost always busy on the weekends, but our wait this time for walk-ups around 8:30am on a Saturday morning was only about 25-30 mins. for a group of 4 - however, we did opt for first-available seating, and we ended up getting sat at the bar top. The biscuits are perfectly fluffy and warm, and the butter flavors are so good. There's usually 1-2 seasonal and 1-2 staple butters. - Eggs Benedict (4/5): Simple and straight forward. Would be nice with a small side but it's also very filling as-is. - Farm Breakfast (3.5/5): Basic and fulfilling. The staff is friendly and the food is awesome. Our family loves the biscuits more than anything else on the menu. We've eaten both dinner and breakfast here and were pleased both times. The restaurant is kind of tight so expect to close to your neighbor. They have a good kid's menu as well! We will be back! read more

This is such a fun place to visit when in Waco. You'll want a reservation though! We were glad we had one when we arrived as the host was explaining those without reservations would be waiting up to 1 hour and 45 minutes!! It's a noisy place but still pleasant. The food is tasty - nothing wild or earth shattering - but yummy nonetheless. We started with the pumpkin spice donut holes. I got the holiday sandwich, and my companions got avocado toast and chocolate chip pancakes. I'd love to see a pimento chicken sandwich or other more spicy offerings. Every single thing was great. The burger, the fries and their seasoning, the sauce, the strawberry lemonade, the cookies, the waiter and the atmosphere. The inside of the restaurant was really nice, lots of different seating areas. There was also a little shop which was nice to wait in with AC while browsing, and it sold coffee and cookies. Had a really great experience. Made reservations and only had to wait a few minutes. I see why reservations are recommended. It stays busy. Our waitress was so nice and pleasant. Even made recommendations for my baby so his food wouldn't be too spicy. She recommended i try the lemon blueberry pancakes because it's seasonal and will be gone next month. It was so good. The lemon was faint but you could see the whole blueberries with every bite. Also the biscuits were so good and flakey. My favorite butter to put on them was the lemon flavor. And honestly I feel like you have to get these because it's a staple. Warm, soft and combine it with the strawberry butter, you're pretty much transported to another dimension. The food at Magnolia Table is to die for. Jo's buttermilk biscuits were flakey and soft on the inside. Strawberry butter was nicely whipped and spreadable. Yummy!! The Gaines Brothers Burger, indescribably yummy. The buns so soft, the meat cooked just right and adding in the bacon onion jam made the whole burger so good. Now, I usually eat my burger with ketchup so as to drown out the smell and smell of beef. The Gaines burger, no ketchup needed. The fries that came with the burger were great too. Not salty and when dipped in the dipping sauce, it was grrreat. Last but not least were the pies - French Silk and Lemon. The French Silk was so smooth and flavorful. The Lemon pie had the right amount lemon flavor. Not too tart or sour. It was perfect. The servers (Nolan and the others, believe me, I watched them all), were friendly, helpful, and knew their stuff. They answered questions without having to look at notes or go to the back. They came around often but not to where it becomes annoying. The atmosphere of the whole restaurant was very welcoming. For the first time going to this restaurant, I was so disappointed. The noise was so loud we were yelling at each other. The waitress was very slow. I ordered what I always order which is biscuits and gravy. They stacked two biscuits on top of each other and then one beside the two. gravy was the two You could see. When I took off the top biscuit there was no gravy, of course on the middle one covered up. I asked the waitress for some more gravy and she said it would be four dollars more. I don't understand if you want biscuits and gravy why you would cover up a biscuit and not put gravy on it. Very disappointed kind of like the atmosphere has shifted from the other times I have been there. Absolutely loved eating here! Before we arrived in Waco we made a reservation online to ensure we would have a table as we had heard from many family and friends that Magnolia Table was amazing! Depending on the time you eat here I would assume that you may or may not reservations but if you want to skip the line and make sure you have reservations. We went on a Thursday in August at 1pm and it was still fairly busy. Once inside the vibe of the restaurant was so fun and upbeat that I felt like I had walked into a family or friends kitchen to relax and hang out. We ordered the biscuits and strawberry butter and oh my goodness! If you have the chance to order them you absolutely need to order them as they did not disappoint. They were absolutely amazing! As for our main course we both ordered the Gaines Brothers Burger and they were amazing. Besides your regular toppings we were able to pick between two jams, a strawberry bacon jam or a jalapeño jam. I was able to add both to my order (they came on the side) and it gave the burger a nice sweet and spicy flavor to the already full of flavor burger. Overall our experience was amazing and if we are ever back in Waco you best believe Magnolia Table will be on our list to eat again. read more

I love this place. My expectations were low, seeing it's owned by a celebrity. I mainly wanted to visit for the esthetic of the place. We were welcomed by the friendly hostess. She did tell us their was a 30 minute wait and we were okay with that. We opted for the private seating instead of sitting at the community table, although I do love the idea of it. I received the text that our table was reading within 15 minutes of putting our name down. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. We got the biscuits with the butter flight and it blew us away. The bread alone was delectable and melted in my mouth. The butters put them over the top. If I remember correctly, my favorite one was the blackberry one. They did fill us up before we got our entrees. I ordered Jo's Crunchy French Toast and it was so good. The server recommended trying it with the Honey Butter from the flight and it was good, just a little too sweet for my liking, see the toast was also topped with whip and strawberries and syrup on the side. My boyfriend got their breakfast taco and seasonal salad. I stole a bite of each and the salad was refreshing. I could go without the breakfast taco as it is a little basic. We also got some cocktails, Wake Up Call and the one with Smash strawberries. If I had to choose one drink to get, I'd go with the Wake Up Call. Having visited back in the years as The Elite Cafe, we were excited to get a reservation (definitely needed). Very distinctive spin on Southern favorites--we would enjoy all of these again: biscuit & butter flight (hostess was spot-on with this recommendation), deviled eggs (yes try with the jalapeño jelly), chicken tenders with hot honey (not your dry grade-school variety!! so fresh & the batter was perfectly light; sub the fries for the fruit - lovely father's market freshness and big enough to share) and a cup of chicken orzo soup I meant to take more photos but we dug into everything too fast No room for dessert. Inside dining room was light & airy. When you come, go the back streets to avoid traffic and turn early to avoid doing the traffic circle twice--found this advice in other reviews. Every time I find myself in Waco --- in Chip and Joanna's backyard -- y'all know I'm coming to Magnolia Table. The last time I came was two years ago, and it was BUSY. Busy meant that we came, set a reservation, then came back almost 2 hours later when the hostess called us. The difference this time? We came for breakfast! The wait was no fuss, and we decided to sit at the Community Table to make some friends. It was a wonderful morning and pleasurable time at the restaurant. For food, we got several items: we started (of course,) with the homemade biscuits and strawberry butter. For main dishes, we got the following: Breakfast Sandwich (14), Summertime Salad (16), and the Club Sandwich (18). For a drink, I got myself a caramel-flavored cold brew coffee. The food, as expected was delicious and pleasant, but also the service. From the initial hostesses to our waitress, everyone served us with care and with southern hospitality. We were very excited about getting a reservation here on the way home from our Thanksgiving weekend in San Antonio. The drinks were tasty and the food was good, but unfortunately, my pasta left something to be desired. I think it sat under the heat lamps for much too long because we had a distracted, waitress, it was very dry and came out cold. although she didn't have many tables. So we were lucky enough to get a seat at the table here at Magnolia Table, literally. It's one of those "must try" spots when doing the whole Fixer Upper experience in Waco. I have to say I bought into it all because of the hype, but that's about all that makes the place special. Has some cute Instagrammable photo opps inside (see my pics) and you know exactly where you are while there. However to be honest, I think it's overrated, as is the whole fixer upper experience here. More on that with my review on the Market and Silos. All in all, the food was good, but honestly nothing spectacular, could probably have gotten the same food elsewhere without having to wait 2 hours for a table. I had the pimento grilled cheese and tomato basil soup, and my mom had the chicken salad sandwich with fries. They also have a take out coffee/pastry marketplace attached on the back end for you if you don't want to wait in line for a sit down meal or just to browse while waiting. We got there before it opened and they told us it would be about an hour wait, and yes, that turned into 2 hrs, which we should've been told initially. I think that the hype is what makes this place worthwhile, I'd do it if you happen to be in town and want to say you've been, but also don't think you're missing much by skipping it and getting a meal elsewhere. I will say one of the joys and best parts of getting to eat here is they have a "first available" community table that you may get seated at with other parties, and we didn't mind, but luckily got sat with some of the sweetest women that made the lunch and wait more enjoyable. I think that brought the experience full circle because right above the table was a sign that said "where everyone has a seat at the table" Make sure if you do go, you make your way back to the restrooms where they have a good photo op sign right there (I know it sounds weird but trust me). All in all, I think both me and my mom were left underwhelmed by the restaurant and whole "Fixer Upper" experience.
