After visiting Waco Mammoth National Monument, one of my friends headed off toward more baseball stadium adventures while another friend and I decided to grab breakfast before I flew back to reality later that evening. Thankfully, Yelp absolutely came through clutch (as it usually does) and led us to Our Breakfast Place. We intentionally tried to time things to beat the post-church crowd and I think we mostly succeeded... though there was still a little bit of a wait. Thankfully, this place is absolutely worth the wait! The restaurant was bustling and busy but still had a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere. The menu was extensive with tons of tempting breakfast options, the prices were very reasonable to me, and the service was excellent from start to finish. Our waitress was so kind and friendly and even the women seated nearby struck up conversation with us while we waited for our food. It just had that warm, community-oriented breakfast spot vibe. I ordered the blueberry lemon pancakes which were a seasonal special and wow, they were fantastic. Sweet but not overly so, fluffy, flavorful, and the combo also came with an egg and I chose two slices of bacon. All delicious and certainly plenty filling. The coffee was strong too, which I greatly appreciated. All in all, this was a five-star breakfast experience and the kind of local spot I love discovering while traveling. If I'm ever back in Waco, I'd happily return. read more

We ran a 10K and were hungry after. We were in the mood fir breakfast We found this place via Yelp app. This place was busy but had a short wait. The place was at the end of a shopping strip. The restaurant was bright and typical to any breakfast restaurant Our waiter was nice and answered our questions. I like that they have smaller portions and regular portions. I order the small french toast and with poached egg and sausage. It was just enough since I cutting back, you may need regular portion for a big appetite. Overall it was decent. Me and my wife was leaving the hotel this morning and looking for a place to eat and we found this place.We pulled up kinda early and the place was already kind of busy.We parked and went inside.We were greeted pretty quickly and seated.As I looked around it's a really nice clean place and pretty good size.Our waitress came to our table and took our drink order.As I was looking at the menu I was looking at a couple of things then I saw a waitress taking a plate to a table and it looked pretty good.I asked her what that was and it was a breakfast burrito.So when the waitress came back I ordered that and it came with home fries.The burrito was pretty good size and overall not bad.The home fries were ok but they would have been better if they had some onions and green peppers in them.The waitress was really friendly and informative on the menu items.I left with a full belly and would visit this place again if and when I get back in this city. read more

Very generous portions. I had the Athena plate. The eggs were piping hot as expected. It's a great dish. The only drawback was that the dish came with potatoes and they were just lukewarm, as if they were from a steam table. I simply need my tatters hot and fresh. My bad for not sending them back, but I am so reluctant to do that with food. Nevertheless, the eggs were much better than I expected. Otherwise, delicious. Visited this place on a Saturday around 10:30am and waited 20mins for a table. This place is very popular on a weekend. The ambiance was loud and hard to hear but they were packed. The service was friendly and attentive. We didn't wait too long for our food, maybe 30mins but again, packed house so it's acceptable. I ordered the Mexican skillet and my wife ordered an omelette with the apple pancake as a side. The food was pretty good, but nothing I would say is a must try in Waco. It's a hometown feeling breakfast meal, nothing super fancy to it. You could probably make a similar meal just as good and for a lot less. read more

Okay first of all there are renovations happening right now, so it was quite loud right where we were eating breakfast. I got Huevos rancheros and it was okay. On the front cover of the menu, there are smaller portion meals and that was just right and just the right portion size. My chocolate chip pancake, 1 egg over hard and 1 crispy slice of bacon was perfect. That and a peppermint hot chocolate with peppermint candies in the whipped cream made it top notch. Went for breakfast with my sister. The menu was friendly to those who don't eat red meat or pork. I had cheese grits and turkey sausage with a pineapple tonic. The prices were very reasonable. The staff were welcoming, patient, and polite. The atmosphere was charming. They are closed on Wednesdays and open 7am-2pm the other days. I would not have known this place existed. I met a friend for brunch at this restaurant. It's a big place, with lots of seating, and brightly lit. It's popular as well, with people waiting for tables the entire time we were there. Our server was attentive, and quick to fix my order when my fruit cup included honeydew after I requested no melon. The omelettes normally come with an English muffin, but when I told her I didn't want that, she was quick to offer other sides as a substitute. My spinach omelette was so delicious! It contained spinach, mushrooms, bacon, and Swiss cheese, and they were generous with all of those. It was topped with a creamy hollandaise sauce and green onions. read more

I cannot say enough about "The Egg and I"! Ooops! I meant "Our breakfast Place". When I was in graduate school in Alabama, my Saturday morning routine was breakfasting at a restaurant called "The Egg and I". L O V E D that place! They had tons of locations across Texas, too. Unfortunately, a chain called "First Watch" bought out "The Egg and I", and I absolutely H A T E it. I mean, come on, you replace a good old fashioned breakfast joint slinging eggs with a place that pushes more hipster avocado toast and grain bowls and other "farm fresh" options? Not that there is anything wrong with that... Anyway, I can honestly say that one of the hardest losses in my life was the loss of "The Egg". But, when I went to "Our Breakfast Place", it was EERILY similar to "the Egg", which was a welcome blast from the past. I'm telling you, I may just have to drive up from San Antonio more often - just to eat here. It's a bright, sunny ambiance that just screams "welcoming breakfast joint". The opted for my favorite skillet (pictured); it's scrambled eggs (or whatever you choose) over a bed of breakfast potatoes mixed with ham, bacon, cheese, covered in hollandaise. You absolutely can't go wrong with this dish - you're not going to leave hungry! The service was on point; the young woman who waited on me was pleasant and attentive. Exactly what we were for on a drive from Austin to Dallas. I loved the small portion options as I never finish a meal. This was the perfect size. I had the small portion omelette with ham and cheese and it was delicious. My husband had corned beef has and eggs and he enjoyed it very much. Especially in a different language. Most of the time its good and every now and then you don't see the waitress except for when you order. Have to hunt someone down to get a refill. This happens even when they aren't busy.
