After visiting Waco Mammoth National Monument, one of my friends headed off toward more baseball stadium adventures while another friend and I decided to grab breakfast before I flew back to reality later that evening. Thankfully, Yelp absolutely came through clutch (as it usually does) and led us to Our Breakfast Place. We intentionally tried to time things to beat the post-church crowd and I think we mostly succeeded... though there was still a little bit of a wait. Thankfully, this place is absolutely worth the wait! The restaurant was bustling and busy but still had a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere. The menu was extensive with tons of tempting breakfast options, the prices were very reasonable to me, and the service was excellent from start to finish. Our waitress was so kind and friendly and even the women seated nearby struck up conversation with us while we waited for our food. It just had that warm, community-oriented breakfast spot vibe. I ordered the blueberry lemon pancakes which were a seasonal special and wow, they were fantastic. Sweet but not overly so, fluffy, flavorful, and the combo also came with an egg and I chose two slices of bacon. All delicious and certainly plenty filling. The coffee was strong too, which I greatly appreciated. All in all, this was a five-star breakfast experience and the kind of local spot I love discovering while traveling. If I'm ever back in Waco, I'd happily return. read more

We ran a 10K and were hungry after. We were in the mood fir breakfast We found this place via Yelp app. This place was busy but had a short wait. The place was at the end of a shopping strip. The restaurant was bright and typical to any breakfast restaurant Our waiter was nice and answered our questions. I like that they have smaller portions and regular portions. I order the small french toast and with poached egg and sausage. It was just enough since I cutting back, you may need regular portion for a big appetite. Overall it was decent. Very generous portions. I had the Athena plate. The eggs were piping hot as expected. It's a great dish. The only drawback was that the dish came with potatoes and they were just lukewarm, as if they were from a steam table. I simply need my tatters hot and fresh. My bad for not sending them back, but I am so reluctant to do that with food. Nevertheless, the eggs were much better than I expected. Otherwise, delicious. Visited this place on a Saturday around 10:30am and waited 20mins for a table. This place is very popular on a weekend. The ambiance was loud and hard to hear but they were packed. The service was friendly and attentive. We didn't wait too long for our food, maybe 30mins but again, packed house so it's acceptable. I ordered the Mexican skillet and my wife ordered an omelette with the apple pancake as a side. The food was pretty good, but nothing I would say is a must try in Waco. It's a hometown feeling breakfast meal, nothing super fancy to it. You could probably make a similar meal just as good and for a lot less. read more

Okay first of all there are renovations happening right now, so it was quite loud right where we were eating breakfast. I got Huevos rancheros and it was okay. This restaurant is far from the tourist sites, and one that locals seem to enjoy. The Big portions surprised me, two of us could have split our entree. On the front cover of the menu, there are smaller portion meals and that was just right and just the right portion size. My chocolate chip pancake, 1 egg over hard and 1 crispy slice of bacon was perfect. That and a peppermint hot chocolate with peppermint candies in the whipped cream made it top notch. When she did come, we immediately ordered our meals and drinks. Waitress seemed nice but maybe too busy to even realize we had been sitting that long even when we tried to flag down a staff member for assistance. We ordered the 2 egg breakfast, the "Burrito" and kids meals. Another 29 minutes later we received our meals. Our food arrived cold, potatoes stale, and unfortunately the burrito came sopping wet making it inedible. When we attempted to pick it up it fell out my husbands hands because it was so saturated the tortilla could be rang out like a mop. As we had already been sitting for over an hour, the last thing we wanted to do was wait for a manager and reorder something else. We didn't get pictures because we were pretty eager to leave the establishment. We saw very good reviews for this place, we're from out of town so we were looking for a mom & pop style diner. It disappointed us bad and wish I could get my money back but we weren't up for the fight we were just ready to leave. And yes we still left a 15% tip. read more

Went for breakfast with my sister. The menu was friendly to those who don't eat red meat or pork. I had cheese grits and turkey sausage with a pineapple tonic. The prices were very reasonable. The staff were welcoming, patient, and polite. The atmosphere was charming. They are closed on Wednesdays and open 7am-2pm the other days. I would not have known this place existed. I cannot say enough about "The Egg and I"! Ooops! I meant "Our breakfast Place". When I was in graduate school in Alabama, my Saturday morning routine was breakfasting at a restaurant called "The Egg and I". L O V E D that place! They had tons of locations across Texas, too. Unfortunately, a chain called "First Watch" bought out "The Egg and I", and I absolutely H A T E it. I mean, come on, you replace a good old fashioned breakfast joint slinging eggs with a place that pushes more hipster avocado toast and grain bowls and other "farm fresh" options? Not that there is anything wrong with that... Anyway, I can honestly say that one of the hardest losses in my life was the loss of "The Egg". But, when I went to "Our Breakfast Place", it was EERILY similar to "the Egg", which was a welcome blast from the past. I'm telling you, I may just have to drive up from San Antonio more often - just to eat here. It's a bright, sunny ambiance that just screams "welcoming breakfast joint". The opted for my favorite skillet (pictured); it's scrambled eggs (or whatever you choose) over a bed of breakfast potatoes mixed with ham, bacon, cheese, covered in hollandaise. You absolutely can't go wrong with this dish - you're not going to leave hungry! The service was on point; the young woman who waited on me was pleasant and attentive. I just can't say enough about this place, but the last thing I'll say is I wish I could literally transport them to San Antonio. Do yourself a favor - go eat here - best breakfast ever. read more

I met a friend for brunch at this restaurant. It's a big place, with lots of seating, and brightly lit. It's popular as well, with people waiting for tables the entire time we were there. Our server was attentive, and quick to fix my order when my fruit cup included honeydew after I requested no melon. The omelettes normally come with an English muffin, but when I told her I didn't want that, she was quick to offer other sides as a substitute. My spinach omelette was so delicious! Overall, a good restaurant! We got seated pretty quickly on a busy Sunday, it was only about a 10 minute wait for our table of 4. Our orders were taken soon after, and food came out within about 20 minutes! Ambiance was great - vibes n decorations made it feel like we were in someone's home :) and it was very clean. Our server was kind but didn't check on us at all aside from dropping off food and handing us the check (which is okay, we didn't really need much). But it would've been nice if he swung by to check up at least once; however it was pretty busy so it's understandable! Got started with a coffee which seemed watered down, but nothing too upsetting, I'm sure they have much more to worry about than coffee. As for food, everything was good! I had the Chicken & Avocado Omelette - considering it was an egg-white omelette (which is generally pretty hard to make tasty), it was pretty well-made. Although my dish was great, we did feel like some things were lacking and we were left wanting a little more, ex. the coffee, some items came out pretty greasy, or some items being over/under-seasoned. But all in all, a great restaurant. Side note: I don't think they have regular buttermilk pancakes, it seems whole wheat pancakes are their "plain" ones. Visiting Waco for the eclipse. We went to Magnolia Table first (cuz HGTV ofc), but the wait was nearly an hour and a half for 3 people! So I found this spot for breakfast. I normally order more savory meals than sweet; I have a weakness for eggs benedicts. But I saw another Yelp review that said they have the best Belgian waffles so I got the Patriot waffle breakfast.
