    Spicy lobster and tagliatelle pasta
    Cindy S.

Absolutely a beautiful restaurant with amazing views. Classy and comfortable! Service was on point. Our server was friendly and allowed us plenty of time to sit and relax, enjoy our drinks and appetizer before taking our dinner order. My husband ordered the spicy lobster with pasta. He loved it! It wasn't as spicy as he would like but it had great seasoning. My son got the filet that came with asparagus and potatoes. They cooked it to perfection and he said it was really tender. I got the Chilean seabass. It was perfectly cooked. It came with quinoa, shiitake mushrooms and was supposed to have pea shoots, but I didn't see any. The quinoa and mushrooms were over salted, ( may have been the ginger scallion sauce) which is a shame because the seabass was amazing! We had the Dr. Pepper Fudge cake and Chess pie for dessert. Yum yum yum!! Both were excellent. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely come back.

First the decor and ambiance is great. Now for our experience. I made reservations a couple of days in advance and we were seated at a small two-top near the entrance and host stand (probably the least desirable spot in the restaurant). There were other better tables available during our time there so I'm not sure why we were seated in that spot. Next we ordered an appetizer that never came. When our meals came I mentioned to the person serving them that our meal came before the appetizer (deviled eggs). He determined the waitress forgot to put them into the system. Mistakes happen. Now on to our entrees. I ordered the $47 Chilean Sea Bass. It's was a small piece (maybe 4 ozs) on a bed of wet couscous. The sea bass was cooked perfectly albeit a very small portion. The couscous was overly wet and the taste overpowered by the taste of soy sauce. For $1 more I could have gotten a much larger steak that looked really good when delivered to other tables. The other entree we received was the $26 cheesiest cheeseburger which was cooked perfectly medium rare and had great flavor. I ordered a mojito which had no fresh mint and an average flavor. For dessert I ordered the Dr Pepper fudge cake. It was ok, but much more the consistency of a dry brownie than fudge cake. The food and service gets 2 stars but the extra star is for the ambience. I would not recommend the Sea Bass due to portion size but especially because the couscous was horrible. Such an easy thing thing to make, no reason for it to be too wet and overly salty with soy sauce. (It looked nothing like photos I've seen from this restaurant.) Would I eat here again? Maybe, but I'd stick to hamburger and try the steak. I expected much more for it being a Magnolia property and the price point. I don't mind paying $50+ per diner if I'm getting that quality food. They can do much better. We were disappointed.

Our server was fantastic and very knowledgeable, telling us about the menu and the area. So nice, not too pushy and not rushing at all. We really appreciated him. The drinks were wonderful and the food was even better. The spicy lobster pasta was PERFECT!! You get a nice portion of delicious, tender lobster, such a light yet perfect amount of sauce, and delicious noodles. I could eat for every meal. My mom got the cheeseburger which was huge and also delicious. It was very cold, but the rooftop is worth the views!

This is a beautiful restaurant the servers were attentive and the food was good. The view from the rooftop is nice

I was just a random walk in, but Ron was able to look at reservations and accommodate me for dinner. I was given a seat w a view out to the terrace and city. Inside the decor was historical yet lovely with both charm and clean lines. Well done. Hunter was my amazing waiter. He was kind and attentive with great menu knowledge and advice. I had the plank cooked salmon with Brussel sprouts, didn't want rice so they gave me broccoli. It was fantastic. Thanks Ron, Hunter, and Team! I would definitely go back!

This is a beautiful and small eatery in hotel 1928! It is such a fun place to go, especially if you are celebrating something or are really looking for a unique location. They have an artesenal menu with well sourced ingredients! It is a bit upscale pricy -- typical entree for dinner was around $25-40. Everything was delicious. The French fries were so fresh, the burger was a big piece of meat-- cooked to perfection. I also had the chicken and mushrooms-- it was like a chicken Marsala. Loved the flavors. Wait staff were very friendly. I felt bad they had to keep filling up the tiny water glasses so often. Overall it was delicious food in a unique location, great service and a bit bougie! Feminine vibes! I came here with my husband but I think it'd be such a fun place to go with the ladies !

Had a lovely brunch at Bertie's when I visited Waco with family! It was a chilly, rainy day so we sat inside but really enjoyed the beautiful decor and ambiance (as one does at a Magnolia spot). We drank both coffee and cocktails and loved the unique mixes and fresh botanical ingredients! The food was delicious, and very filling. I had the French toast skillet, which was so good, but could only eat so much! My family enjoyed the burger and ricotta pancakes as well. Since we waited a bit for our food, without asking our server brought us a complimentary baked good as well, which was very good. i would definitely visit again during my next trip to Waco!

Came here for a date night. Ambiance was superb, wish there was dining outside but regardless we got to enjoy it after. All staff were very friendly and attentive. Cesar salad was alright and they probably have better appetizers to offer. Seabass was delicious! Tasted almost like a asian-fusion dish. Steak was great but kind of small for the price. Great experience and will definitely stop by again. Also shoutout to Lexi for being a great server!

First off - the hotel and restaurant is beautiful. Every corner is decorated to the perfect aesthetic. The service and staff are just as great. They were very polite, helpful, and friendly. Our waiter was very attentive. I ordered the cheeseburger and thought it was delicious. The burger was juicy and came with a pretty large amount of fries. The burger was simple but elevated enough to be different and memorable. The only downside is the price, but the service and ambiance help counteract that.

I think they should have had all the kinks worked out by now (it's been over 5 months) but they don't have anything to worry about because people are going here because of Joanna. The food and service don't have to be good...not a ton of choices once you're downtown and done seeing g the silos. The good Beautiful interior Great view of downtown Waco Good cocktails The bad They were out of two entrees ( of course the ones we wanted). Wine list is underwhelming Risotto was undercooked Very loud Service was spotty If I ever go back to Waco, I will definitely go back but I'll get drinks on the rooftop terrace.

Bertie's is on the rooftop of Hotel 1928 which is beautiful to walk through on the way up. We got a table outside on the rooftop which has an iconic view of the Alico building. The cheeseburger was phenomenal and the bananas foster pudding was AMAZING. I would go back just for that!! Drinks were weak and tasted like juice. The front host texted us to come in earlier than our reservation because they closed shortly after, yet it was an available time to book online and the only slot left to reserve that day. I felt rushed to get there earlier. Turned out fine but it was quite off-putting.

The staff are always friendly and the food here is amazing!! We came back last Friday to celebrate my birthday. I was so happy to find out that they now take reservations using the Open Table app. It was super easy to use and I booked my reservation a few weeks prior to getting into Waco. We were greeted by the friendly hostess who seated us promptly since we had reservations. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and my husband ordered the farm breakfast. We ordered the kids breakfast for our 3 year old which came with pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon. We also ordered a side of biscuits with strawberry jam. We got our food hot and made fresh to order. The croissant sandwich was filling and delicious. The croissant was super fluffy and light. Everything was perfect!!! Our son told us that he loved his pancakes. Our waiter came by frequently to check on us and make sure everything was made to our liking. 10/10 recommend for their high quality service and food. We will be sure to continue to keep coming back again and again whenever we're in Waco.

To start I had the strawberry margarita to celebrate my day off of work. It was very tasty and just the right amount of strawberry flavor. Refreshing. Since I was dining solo I didn't get any appz. There are lots of tables and the atmosphere is open and welcoming. After my meal I went to the take away area and got the lemon lavender donut holes to take home to the husband. And I grabbed a chai latte with oatmilk to keep me going for my warrants of the day. The drink was comforting and warm and the chai was perfect. Later I tried the donut holes. And oh wow they were amazing!

That's why I was genuinely disappointed to find out that the chicken Caesar sandwich has been removed from the menu. It might seem like a small change, but for regular customers like me, that sandwich was a standout item and one of the main reasons I kept coming back. It had a great balance of flavor and felt like a reliable go-to every time. Taking it off the menu without a comparable replacement feels like a missed opportunity and, honestly, a bit frustrating. I completely understand that menus evolve and restaurants need to make changes, but it would mean a lot to see fan-favorite items like this either return or be replaced with something similar. Milo's still has a lot going for it, which is why this change stands out even more. Hoping this feedback is taken in the spirit it's intended--supportive, but coming from a very disappointed regular.

In particular the deviled eggs and Brussels sprouts caught my eye, unfortunately the latter was sold out so I went with the sweet potato Both dishes I had were really good! The candied bacon paired really nicely with the creamy deviled egg, the hot sauce vinaigrette didn't add too much flavor, but honestly adding a significant amount of heat would've probably taken away from an already very tasty dish. The baked sweet potato on the other hand had a nice dose of heat from the Calabrian honey vinaigrette, the sweet heat combo worked really, I'm surprised I'd never come across a spicy sweet potato dish before, but I'll definitely have my eye out for it in the future Overall I had a very good experience and will definitely be back for future rest stop meals between Austin and Dallas!
