We are have a celebratory dinner for something special for my husband. Of course we came to Olaf's. We had appetizer of smoked salmon, entrees of lamb chops and cakes cakes. Always excellent. I also had a jalapeño margarita it was perfect.

Great Shopping and dinner while in Clifton Texas town. Would recommend reservations. Menu changes and has options for all tastes. We shared a filet and salad. So good we dug in before I took a photo. Steak cooked to order and delicious. Salad was the perfect side cold crisp and light. We enjoyed that our # triathlon - eating drinking shopping could be done under one roof. A quick trip from Dallas will come back.

I've never waited this long to eat a mediocre dinner and paid so much. Ever. We arrived and they couldn't find our reservation but could seat us promptly so no big deal. We ordered the shrimp cocktail, meatballs and flatbread for appetizers. The meatballs were really tender and the sauce was great. Nothing special about the shrimp cocktail and the flatbread was similar to those I've ordered through a drive thru sandwich shop. We had the blueberry mojito and jalapeño margarita and both were really good. All the appetizers and drinks came out in a timely manner and then it was as if we were forgotten. Which makes sense considering the seating made us look more like we were part of the antiques and gifts for sale rather than seating designed for an actual restaurant. It appears maybe an attempt to extend the number of folks that may be seated, they have begun to use the dealer booths as, well eating booths. The waiters were apologetic with a few excuses like, "someone took your food" and "we aren't sure why it's taking so long" which none seemed to be reassuring that we were going to receive our main courses anytime soon. We waited for our entrees for over an hour and a half. The food was room temperature and tough. Our bill was around $250. If you are visiting Clifton, Texas and you happen to experience the same visit we did, I want to reassure you that this is not the Texan way. We do not make people wait extended periods of time without knowing when to expect their meal and we do not provide lame excuses when it's not ready. We make it right. We offer more appetizers, drinks, a discount maybe even for waiting a ridiculous amount of time. Even the waiters had a hard time not laughing along with us when we became hysterical over the whole ordeal. Save your money. There may not be many eating options in this small town, but you will have better luck finding a local who will treat you right and give you a quick, warm meal. And if you don't, message me and I'll help you find someone else who will.

Salads are delish! My fav is their house salad and sliders. I break my carb rule with eating them and I don't feel bad as they are worth it.

We've tried a number is wines and dishes get. The Pintxos are amazing. The Tapas are totally on point with our favorite being the Albondigas meatballs. And the charcuterie featured really high quality chorizo, Serrano ham, Manchego and Mahon cheeses, almonds, grapes and an amazing quince jelly that's firmer than a standard jelly and quite delicious. We started with the pan-roasted romanesco, which was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. The bread service with compound butter was a standout on its own: simple, but done at such a high level that it set the tone for the entire meal. We grabbed seats at the bar, which ended up being a great move. The atmosphere was lively but relaxed, and we enjoyed several glasses from their excellent wine selection. Our bar tender was knowledgeable, welcoming, and she made the whole experience feel elevated without being pretentious. For entrees, my wife ordered the chicken and fries, crispy, juicy, and incredibly satisfying. I went with Blaine's burger, and I don't say this lightly: it's hands down one of the top three burgers of my life. Perfectly cooked, beautifully balanced, and unforgettable. Blaine's is doing something special. If you're in Waco and looking for a place that nails both food and experience, this is it. We'll be back soon.

Presentation of the dishes was attractive and thoughtful, and we were pleased with our wine selections. We started by sharing the poblano corn chowder. Unfortunately, the dominant impression was salt. The soup was more of a brown, creamy sauce with chicken and corn than the aromatic, herb-forward poblano chowder I was expecting. Beyond the saltiness, there wasn't much depth or complexity of flavor. For entrées, we ordered the steak and the ahi tuna tomahawk. Both were visually impressive, but once again the overwhelming characteristic was salt. The tuna may have had a hint of tarragon, but it was difficult to appreciate much else. The steak was exceedingly salty--surprisingly so, even for someone who is not shy about using salt. Service was courteous but somewhat inattentive and slower than expected. At this price point, I would have hoped for more attentive service and a broader range of flavors rather than repeated assaults on the sodium receptors. One final curiosity: water was served in what appeared to be small jelly jars, which felt a bit odd given the otherwise upscale presentation. Overall, Blaine's gets good marks for ambiance, presentation, wine, and especially the live music. Unfortunately, the kitchen's heavy-handed use of salt overshadowed much of the meal. With more restraint in seasoning and a bit more attention to service, this could be an exceptional dining experience.
