This cozy and swank place is special and has never disappointed! Last night we had the amazing salmon that was perfectly cooked with a pork roast/corn tortilla/taco flare. The pork fell apart and was only on my plate for a very short time due to the amazing flavors. We also ordered "sprouts" which is always a nice starter. Called prior to coming in to seat a party of five and was told that they don't accept reservations. Arrived shortly and wasn't greeted upon entering. 10 minutes later was approached by a host who informed me that seating a party of five wasn't possible, I then requested to be split up into a party of three and two and the hostess went to check I stood there for 30 mins and she never returned. Simply will not be returning due to the discrimination and lack of communication and organization. read more

Very friendly bartenders. This is a small cozy atmosphere with outdoor patio. It's in a plaza with all kinds of shops. Wine selection is ok. I didn't see much red or white that I haven't seen elsewhere. The pours are those 6 oz pours for $7-15. I personally think the prices are a little too high. They also have some domestic beers and italian beers. If you are a craft beer person like me, you won't like their beer selection. The food menu changes daily and they do post it on their website. I haven't eaten anything there yet but they do have burger nights on Thursdays. Recommend for small groups or as a date night then on to somewhere else read more

Half price bottles on Saturday from 5-8 pm and some great appetizers (flatbreads and queso, especially) make this place a great happy hour spot. I like that it's nice and quiet--no need to shout over loud guests or music and the staff will re-cork any bottle you don't finish so that you can take it home. read more

Ok, I am so conflicted about writing a five star review, but The Grape totally deserves it. I just don't want this hidden gem to get too popular. I want to keep it all to myself. They are open Tuesday through Saturday and the menu changes with the whim of the chef daily. It is actually a wine bar that serves food, not a restaurant that serves wine. You can check on the chef's food selections on their website daily. This is, by far, my FAVORITE place to go in Waco. Michelle and Jeremy are always ready to offer a recommendation on wine, and they have an uncanny recollection of what you have had and enjoyed in the past. read more

This was my experience on Friday November 18, 2016: My friends birthday get together ended up there, a group of 6. We got in just before music started (which was actually really good). The service seemed a bit frantic because it was one guy and he had the entire place to himself. I've worked service industry jobs since I was 16, I'm 28, so I get it. He gets to us and I ask what food options they have since I have heard great things about the food. Also, I am pregnant, and I had worked since 10am-7pm, and had lunch around 2, and hadn't had a chance to eat since. I was STARVING. The waiter said they ran out of food. I asked if I could get something from next door, salty dog, and he said no. So I was sitting there with my cups of water trying to not be hungry. (Which if you've ever been pregnant or a human, this is now the "hangry" stage.) I hate being a burden so we just hung out and listened to music. Then my one of my friends in the group asked the owner, who which by the way wasn't helping the busy waiter, if I could bring in food because they had ran out and didn't offer anything else, to which his response was to me yelling: "WE DONT ALLOW THAT ITS AGAINST OUR POLICY BUT I GUESS JUST THIS ONE TIME ILL ALLOW IT. ONLY THIS ONE TIME JUST FOR YOU." Because that makes ANY customer feel like they aren't in trouble or a burden or a bad person that statement makes them feel so good! So I held off. The waiter finally said he found cheese cake and gave it to me, which I totally scarfed down. Let me be real honest here: I've sold the owner wine. I've worked in wine for over 2 years and I am knowledgable about more grape varieties than the owner is I am pretty sure on that. So excuse my cockiness on that but his list is complete shit except for a few items. Get ready to spend over price on crap wine. The way I was treated was just completely rude. I did nothing wrong I didn't make a scene when this business that advertises about their food and menu constantly ran out of food, which if that happens: you're a shit business. That should never happen in a restaurant. He can call himself a wine bar but he is also a restaurant. I have recommended people to go there because I've heard great things about the menu. The waiter was great, it wasn't the service. Atmosphere was just ok, looks like kirklands exploded in there. Again, the wine list was shit, except for a few bottles. Overall? I am extremely disappointed in my experience and the way the owner treated me. I seriously kept quiet and didn't say anything or do anything and he treated me like I was a disrespectful customer of his. I will never recommend this place to anyone, and trust me: I see A LOT of the public who is constantly asking me where to go eat. This was just enough of an experience for me to never give them a second chance, which I do a lot when I've had a not great experience. Let me give the owner advice: First of all, you're a jack ass for treating me the way you did, I did absolutely nothing wrong and I did not make a scene or say anything when YOURE business ran out of food. You need to help your waiter when he's getting his ass handed to him and he has the entire bar to himself and it's a busy Friday night while you're going around hanging out with everyone drinking. That's just plain rude, and terrible management. Also, I know the customer is never right. But you SURE AS HELL don't call them out the way you did to me and belittle them. I hope you find resolution and figure out a better business model because my experience was awful and I will never give this place a second chance and I will sure as hell tell people that ask me about this place how awfully I was treated. Probably a great place, was looking forward to trying the appetizers with wine for my wife. Has an extensive list of beers to go with wines but both beers I asked for were out of stock. I asked waiter to recommend a wheat beer or heifiweizen beer and he left table to see what was in stock and came back recommending an Ale. With a smile I said "you don't have a wheat or hefiwiezen" and he walked away. I had to tell him while his back was to me that a water would be fine. He came back with a glass of water but no ice... He was very busy with other customers. We drank a glass of wine and left, never trying the great sounding appetizers. Small, intimate place for wine tasting. The food here is good. I do not like their seating choice as all tables are patio tables, even inside. Heavy metal chairs and glass top tables do not mix well with bottles/glasses of wine. A corner area does have couches, which is where I prefer to sit. The decor inside is dated. A few changes with furniture and decor could really polish this place. The patio is small and allows smoking. They do have live music outside on some nights, which adds to the ambiance.
