First of all, they do sell pasta dishes here. At the time of this review, the pasta dishes hadn't been added to the online ordering menu on their website. I've had the Chicken Parmesan pasta, the Margherita pizza, and the Pepperoni pizza. Each of them was above average. The Chicken Parmesan came with a nicely breaded and cheese-covered piece of chicken with spaghetti and two pieces of garlic toast. It was good, though it could have used a little more red sauce. Pizzas are available as 20" or 14" pies, and certain ones you can get by the slice. The crust is medium thickness, light, with a soft core and a crispy outside. The Margherita was good but I preferred the Pepperoni. Overall, both pizzas were above average. I especially liked the crispiness of the outside of the crust. They also have salads and wings. Dessert consists of cheesecake or funnel cake fries. I haven't tried any of these yet. There is an inside dining area, a bar area, and an outdoor patio area. The inside is shared with Common Grounds coffee shop and Heritage Creamery ice cream shop, a couple of other local favorites. read more

Good food. Quick service. Can get loud and crowded at times but for a place to get a slice of pizza and a beer that is to be expected I think. Clean, friendly atmosphere. Outdoor patio for kids to run free and play. Oh and the loaded tots are delicious! read more

Came here later in the afternoon and i was completely displeased to say the least. The workers were unprofessional while on shift it seemed they were going back and forth to a table of what it looked it were their friends and speaking very loudly to the point the entire establishment could hear them. That wasnt my biggest concern though. Slow rise has been my favorite pizza spot. I usually go to the one on the brazos but it was my first time at this location, after listening to the loud people talking and supposedly were also working. I was trying to enjoy my favorite pizza and when i look down to get my next bite there is a hair in my pizza. I try to take it off because i do have dogs so i wasn't certain if it came from me. It was a blonde hair and when i tried pulling it out it was under the cheese and intertwined INSIDE the pizza. After that i felt nauseous and i dont think i will be coming back. The service was mediocre to say the least and the hair inside my pizza made me want to vomit. Sad to write this review but even sadder i had to experience this at my all time favorite pizza place. read more

Poor set up. As a business owner myself, that also does food, poor organization on their part. I called my order in for pick up and when I arrived, I was told I had to stand in a line 30 people deep to pick up my order because "they were here before you". Pick ups shouldn't have to stand in line for 30 mins after the time they were told their pizza would be ready. There should be additional staff members at the registers who can grab pick up orders. Stopped by Slow Rise Pizza for a casual Sunday afternoon out and was really impressed with the quality of the food. The pizza was absolutely on point--perfectly crispy crust, flavorful toppings, and cooked just right. You can tell they care about what they serve. The atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming, with a cool, rustic vibe that makes you want to hang around and order another slice. Staff was friendly and the service was solid overall. Only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars? As I sat down my chair was broken and left on the floor. Nothing major--just a surprise I wasn't expecting. Luckily, no injuries and the staff was apologetic, but hopefully they'll do a quick furniture check for future guests. Would still come back in a heartbeat. We found this restaurant right before moving out of Texas and it is depressing! Slow rise has AMAZING prices, great pizza, great service, and each location we've been too had a great vibe! Restaurant seemed to handle the bar/children separation well and there weren't any patrons causing issues (ie over indulgence causing issues from over consumption of alcohol). We ordered pizza from here for a volunteering event. I like how they have both 14 inch and 20 inch pizza options, which are great for big groups. I tried their sausage pizza, which was honestly not as good as some pizza I've gotten at big chains. I do think their specialty pizzas would have been a bigger hit. We'd never been there before and walked up to a counter where four kids just stared at us. I asked if we were supposed to order there and they said yes. We got a variety of food to try. The Hawaiian pizza was good, but the crust is flavorless. We paid $8 for 4 mozzarella sticks. The fried mac and cheese bites were mid, and my husband liked the fried ravioli, but I thought it wasn't that great. I got a chicken sandwich that was awful and tasted like a flavorless frozen breaded chicken patty. My son's chicken tenders were fried and had a lot of crust, but no flavor. They have great French fries, and the funnel fries were also good. They have a nice outdoor area and the best thing about the inside of this place is there is a Common Grounds there. I would go back if someone I know wanted to eat there, but it wouldn't be at the top of my list. The food and service need some work. Emphasis on the SLOW, lots of room to rise. Ordered ahead at lunch with a pick up time of 1215, arrived at 1215 on the dot and was told it'd be another 10 minutes. Place is great for families and the pizzas were huge. Nice selection of craft beer to go along with a really good margherita pizza and a huge pretzel for an appetizer. The service was absolutely terrible, the college kids were so rude... Went in 40 mins before closing (we did not know they close early-from out of town). Took our order and instead of mentioning it before we placed our order they said in a very rude tone the order would be take out, they close soon. Every time we asked a question one of the guys smacked their lips and he was just being so rude. By the time we got our food it was 5 minutes till close however there was still a group of people in there so I couldn't understand why they told us in a very rude tone they are closing while there was still a group in there drinking and no one told them anything.....I would not recommend nor go ever again. read more

Maybe it was because I was hungry. Honestly though, the pizza is very good. If you're from New York or whatever it's not going to be "real pizza" but it is good. New to the area and looking for a good go to pizza place. We ran across slow rise and decided to give it a try. We got half cheese and half pepperoni and green olives. For the price the pizza was a solid option as the large fed our family of 5, with some left over. Fresh from the restaurant I think this pizza is a bit doughy for my liking, but they did not skimp on the cheese and other toppings, and the sauce was good and had a strong Italian seasoning taste to it, which I wasn't too made about. What made this pizza great for me is that if you take it home and put it in the over at 425 for about ten minutes gave it the perfect crisp and didn't burn the toppings. The service was excellent and friendly and the location sets a good atmosphere for any social event, but is also great for grab and go. read more

Staff: Friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere: This is a very large space and large spaces don't look so inviting when there aren't many customers. There wasn't any cool vibes and it kinda of felt like someone was trying to bring Manny's On The River back from the dead. The restaurant felt hollow and bit eerie. There were small pieces of trash all over the floor near the table I was seated. I hope looking over a murky Brazos River will be enough to sustain them. Service: My two slices of Margherita Pizza were delivered to my table rather quickly and the appearance and taste did not leave a good lasting impression. Food: This was by far the worst Margherita Pizza that I've ever had. I couldn't smell or taste any basil. Where are the San Marzano tomatoes? The presentation was awful. I don't know how cardboard tastes but my imagination gives me a sneaky suspicion that it would be to this. Maybe they are still trying work out the kinks but based my experience that's not going to change of the food. If you're real pie guy or girl lower your standards before you enter.
