Beautiful winery
Lowell O.

We loved our time here and will definitely come back again. They vint and age on site. They make estate wines from their own Tempranillo grapes, available only to members. And they produce very nice wines from a variety of Texas High Plains grapes, for which they offer wine tastings. The service was relaxed but enjoyable. The grounds and the building are beautiful. They offer indoor and outdoor seating and are dog friendly. We'll definitely be back! I'm glad we got there early because the tables filled up quickly on a Saturday. It's a popular place. And I see why! I prefer dry, bold wines, mostly reds. I've lived in California for 15 years and toured Naps, Sonoma and the Russian River Valley many times. Yes, I'm a wine snob. So I didn't expect to enjoy this as well as I did. It's the best Texas winery experience I've had to date, and I look forward to visiting them again.

This place is fabulous! We stumbled on this amazing treasure when we made our visit out to Waco! Katie and Sarah were both so kind and did an amazing job making us and our fur kids feel welcome! Thank you for the hospitality! We will be back soon. With love from Houston!

Emily was our tour guide on my most recent trip here. She did an amazing job at informing us about this vineyard. The service was great from all staff. This a very calm, quiet environment that I would recommend to locals and tourist!

Our favorite red.

This is just a very nice winery. The scenery is beautiful and the building is stunning. Everyone is very nice and accommodating. We get one of their dry reds and it's wonderful. There was a beautiful breeze so we sat outside but there's plenty of room inside if you prefer AC. Their lane needs to be resurfaced and I truly wish the handicapped parking and entrance could be expanded for us older folks, but until then, the 50 steps ( give or take) leading to the tasting room is great cardio and you can reward yourself with a glass or two of nice wine!

Charcuterie and wine

Try the Charcuterie; pairs well with their wines. White, Red & Rosé... great variety of quality wines to choose from. Service is excellent and view from the porch is instantly relaxing. I recommend this tasting room for singles or small groups.

I stopped by and attended a wine tour over the weekend, and it was worth the drive. It's about a 2 hour drive from DFW. The area is very secluded and peaceful. Our tour guide Kalen was lovely and very informative. I was very inquisitive and she answered all of the questions I presented. We visited pretty much each room used in the harvesting process, excluding the lab. This will likely be one a go to for a nice relaxing weekend getaway. Thank you so much!

Shaylor and Mariana are very nice and great at knowing what we would like! The atmosphere is always great as well at the wine! Great service and friendly customers too.

Had a wonderful tasting experience with Valerie. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and over all gave us a wonderful experience today. Gorgeous views of the vineyards with indoor and outdoor spaces. Also great tasting wines. A must visit!

Katie provided a wonderful tasting experience for us. Wines and views were great. Will definitely visit the next time we are in the area.

Reserve tasting in the cellar with Marina
Katherine F.

We did a reserve tasting in the wine cellar and Marina was amazing! She called ahead to get our preference of red vs. white wines and she catered perfectly to our tastes. We had great conversation and even when we were interrupted by a tour, she never failed to provide an excellent experience. 10/10 recommend!

Red Wine and Port stored in oak barrels during the fermentation process

We three friends took a great tasting tour beginning at 3 p.m. on an early March Thursday afternoon. Katie was a great tour guide and did a fantastic job explaining the vineyards, harvesting processes and wine making there onsite. We enjoyed sitting on the patio overlooking the vineyards and valley below with glasses of wine and snacks. Very relaxing and fun adventure.

Our private reserve tasting
Courtney P.

My husband surprised me with a reserve collection tasting for my birthday and our host was Marina. Hands down the best fun! I've done other group wine tastings before but this was personal and intimate. We had a charcuterie board and 4 wines to taste. This wasn't small flights like you get at a common tasting, these were nearly glasses. The charcuterie included salami, 2 cheeses, nuts, olives, pickles, and bread. Marina detailed the nodes of each wine while we sat at a beautiful private terrace over looking the vineyard. Turning 33 wasn't too bad this year. Book with Marina!!

Beautiful view of the vineyard.

Headed to Red Caboose for the second winery of the day. Make sure you know which one you are going…read moreto. They have a tasting room that's open daily - this is the actual vineyard that is open on Saturdays. We arrived and thought the place was maybe closed. The dog (buddy - good luck finding your dad) greeted us. We stood around in the "shop" area for 2-3 minutes before we started to look for someone. The actual "tasting" bar is down near the outside patio. We found the hostess and were the only ones there. $15 for 6 tastes (we got 7 since another club member bottle had been opened previously). Pours are on the light side. The wines are generally dry red, but some sweet options are available. The hostess was fine - but was rather dry/dull. We ended up purchasing a bottle and sipping a glass outside on the patio. The view is quite nice and it's relaxing. A few other guests arrived after we finished our tasting - but it was far from busy (we drove by the other location on our way and it was full). A good winery stop for the day - bring some snacks and grab a bottle to hang out on the patio.

He is so friendly and knowledgeable, he designed everything on the winery so I would drive all the way to Meridian just to listen to him. Now the wines; the wines were interesting and reasonably priced. I particularly liked La Reina Tempranillo, Melrot and the Cab/Tempranillo blend. We tried around 7 wines in total, all of them (I'm not kidding) are really good wines. We stayed with dry reds so don't know about their whites. I loved the unpretentious setting and rustic ambiance, definitely will be back!

I don't typically leave reviews at all, but occasionally I fall into an experience that warrants…read moreone. That was certainly the case with my experience at the Red Caboose Winery. The RCW is a business that I have passed probably dozens of times in my travels across Texas. Every time I think to stop in, it's been closed but limited hours are the standard for family owned wineries, so no big deal. However, on the trip through today my fiancée and I made the time to ensure it would be open, and indeed it was! After visiting, we really wish it wasn't. The RCW wasn't very busy when we arrived, indeed the only customers present during our visit was a pair of, presumably, locals, another woman with her children, who were very well behaved, and a man that I'm going to refer to as Umbo: The Clifton Giant, who sat at the edge of the bar and seemed to be keeping on eye on everyone present. The woman on staff, who did not introduce herself, seemed to be the only one working this afternoon. We entered and meandered around the small shop section before she haphazardly waved us over, as if visitors and customers were a confusing novelty for her to encounter. Upon taking a seat at the bar, the bartender took a while to get to us, the only customers (at that time) in the place; not mentioning Umbo: The Clifton Giant. We got a tasting of 6 wines and 5 of their distilled spirits. I'll save you the time now, but the spirits aren't worth it. However, given this is a winery, I think that's fair. Our bartender never bothered to tell us anything about their wines. I mentioned how excited we were to try out the place and I might as well have started speaking Klingon because they clearly didn't care at all. At no point were we told a damned thing about the wines, the winery, or anything. Just "here, pick 6 wines." So, we did. In order to try the wines, the wines must first be poured into a glass. Our bartender frequently took longer than 5 minutes (once 7 minutes and 45 seconds that I timed towards the end) to pour the next wine. During that time, she spent it chatting up the locals and engaging in hushed conversation with the aforementioned resident giant. Not that the wines are anything to write home about. Of course, this could be our fault as I guess we pick the wines. However, at least two of the wines had already oxidized and turned to vinegar. They were borderline undrinkable. The wines that weren't vinegar were either just okay or, as our bartender told us, several times, were the "cheap wines" that we could buy for even cheaper "at the grocery store." So, lots of confidence there. Now let's discuss the giant in the room, Umbo. I don't know his name. Maybe he's super friendly, I don't know, but I do know that his consistent presence and observation skills (mixed with his muffled laughter and hushed conversations) made it super uncomfortable to be there. He's just sitting there, sipping on a Dr. Pepper, occasionally staring at us. I have no idea what his presence was for. Husband? Brother? Boyfriend? Security? No idea. But we wanted out of there after a while. Paying was fine. I saw some other reviews complaining about the cost. I thought the $15 for a tasting of 6 wines and $10 for the 5 spirits was more than fair. We also liked the place itself. It looked nice and seemed comfy. My fiancée and I have been to many wineries over lots of places. The RCW may have taken the cake for "winery that we could not wait to leave." It was a genuinely terrible experience. Sour wine, terrible service, and Paul Bunyon's younger brother would probably sum up the experience as a whole. I am connected to a few wine groups in Houston, who I have been with for many years now, who are always looking for new places and stops. I've already let them know to go ahead and pass the RCW on by. I would recommend anyone else to do the same. Unless you're looking for vinegar. In which case, you've found the right place.
