First time trying out this place after a basketball game and it definitely won't be the last. First and foremost- the staff is AMAZING. Our waitress Michelle was incredible and worked her tail off. Our new Friday night go-to! We tried this restaurant after Papa Bear's (our usual Friday night spot) went out of business, and we're so glad we did. With its popcorn ceilings and charming, old-school worn tables, this place is to dine for! We had the Mac Daddy and the Mac Mama--both were incredibly delicious. If you're craving some heat, the Mac Mama is definitely the way to go. If you're more in the mood for a BBQ-style flavor, the Mac Daddy won't disappoint. Uncle Worms is always consistently good comfort food. Whether its the brisket mac n cheese, their half pound burger, or grilled salmon ~ it's always good. The only weak spot is their mixed drinks from the bar. They aren't always consistent and non-bar pros frequently make the drinks. It has a great casual country vibe, lots of room to spread out. Great for singles, couples or large groups and on Thursday's they have live music. Probably other nights too. If you're looking for a true local Waco spot, check it out. My visit was good. There are a couple of caveats to mention. The service was good and the food was good. This visit was w a preselected menu for a Christmas party for work. The steak was great and the mash potato's were very flavorful. The grilled veggies were decent I don't like summer squash. My chicken was cool but I think that was due to the staff having to make a large amount of servings to serve at once. The salad was very fresh and the apple dessert was very different. My friend tried the brownie there was a choice for dessert and liked that. The ice cream was blue bell. A very good first time. I loved all the home touches w decorating and the fact that the bar is on the second floor so it was quiet downstairs for our work party. I've been wanting to try Uncle Worm's for quite a while so took the opportunity when there weren't many cars in the lot a bit after the lunch hour. Unfortunately there was only one young lady working and she didn't realize that I was there and was very slow seating me. However she gave me a menu and my drink quite quickly. Sadly she then disappeared for almost fifteen minutes. When she finally showed up she took my order and had it out fairly soon. I ordered the chicken salad on the pretzel roll with waffle fries. The sandwich was very good, a bit small for the price, and I got plain fries instead of waffle fries which didn't bother me as they were pretty good. This is a nice venue with cute decorations. Unfortunately I discovered where all of the local afternoon drinkers hang out and it was VERY noisy. It was not the relaxed late lunch that I was looking for. She's running around the restaurant nonstop taking orders, delivering food, refilling drinks, checking on every table and somehow still smiling like she's got it all under control. I was rooting for you Uncle worm! We were all rooting for you! Unfortunately we had a bad experience. Ordered our appetizers and entrees shortly after being seated but all the food came out at the same time (minus my salad). We ordered the campfire queso with the pretzel bread but were brought the queso with tortilla chips instead. We asked for the pretzel bread we ordered and ended up being charged extra for it. A solid 20 minutes passed before we notified the manager of the fact that one of us was waiting on our main dish (a salad). He just said "oh really?" About 2 minutes later our salad came but everyone else was done and fed up at this point so I just took it to go. The steak on my salad was too rare to eat as I'm pregnant (they didn't ask how I wanted it cooked or state that it comes rare) The check came and we couldn't believe they didn't offer to comp the salad and still charged for the pretzel bread that was supposed to come out with the queso in the first place. It was our servers first day so I can't blame her too much but the managers should have handled this better. I regret not speaking up at the time but we won't be returning unfortunately :( read more

This was our first time here. We came in during one of the Rangers games. It wasn't busy downstairs but we weren't sure how busy it was upstairs in the bar area. We ordered an order of fried pickles as an appetizer. Those were pretty good but there was a lot of breading crumbs mixed in. Those pieces were hard and difficult to chew. I'll first go into the service before I dig into our main entrees. We ordered our main meals and it took 40 minutes to get our food. By the time we got the food it was all cold. Our drinks were rarely topped off and our server would disappear for way longer than she should have been gone. Then we would occasionally see her in the back BSing with the staff in the kitchen. For our main meal we ordered the Mac Mama and a cheese burger with fries. The burger was dry and barely warm and the fries were stale. The Mac Mama was really delicious but also lukewarm. I will say the flavors were awesome and the menu is good but the service ruined it for us. By the time we got our food it wasn't hot anymore with also ruined the food. Don't be turned off by the name...their hand cut ribeye's was the best ribeye I have ever eaten. This wonderful piece of meat, had the best flavor and practically melted in your mouth, it was that tender. The purple mash potatoes were very flavorful. Plus the roasted vegetables were just as good and tasty as the rest of the meal. There were 3 people eating steak and one eating a Cajun pasta. Needless to say, there were no leftovers going home today! Every morsel was devoured. You must try this place.
