Worth the wait! I knew I needed to visit Silos when I made the trip through Waco, but I didn't realize just how insanely neat this place is! As all the previous reviews state, the bakery line is in fact long but it moved quickly. My group and I only waited about five minutes from the time I joined the queue to the moment our cupcakes made it to us. We didn't stick around in the bakery for long as it was crowded with people either waiting to order or pickup their orders, and went out to find a place to sit, at which point I realized just how big Magnolia Market actually was. Before that, the cupcakes we ordered: the Gingerbread, Campfire, and Lemon Lavender. While the Lemon Lavender was recommended to me by someone who'd been here before, I actually found it to be my least favorite of the trio. It tasted like the 'safe option' I could've had anywhere else, while the others were more exciting in flavor. The Campfire had all the textures of a s'more, complete with graham crackers and a toasted marshmallow, and the Gingerbread, my favorite one, really brought home the gingerbread taste. The spices in it were so fragrant and strong without overloading your tastebuds, and the cupcake was deliciously moist. Though the amount of icing on all the cupcakes was a little too much for me, the rest of my group absolutely loved how much there was. As for the rest of the market, this place was sprawling. Food trucks, a garden, a park to relax or play with your dog, a church, outdoor games like bean bag toss, a place to practice baseball, a gift shop AND a mini shopping strip, this place had EVERYTHING. We were only able to stay for half an hour and didn't get to see everything, but this place was absolutely perfect for a day out, a date, or taking IG photos. I was admittedly convinced that this place might be overhyped, but I can totally see why it's gotten so much praise. I definitely want to make a trip back solely to try more bakery goodies and take my time to explore the grounds.

Silos Bakery & Cafe does not miss. $5 cupcakes that taste like luxury desserts. We had the seasonal carrot cupcake and the toasted coconut, and both were incredible -- moist, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. But the real star? The frosting. So fluffy, light, and insanely delicious -- not heavy, not overly sweet, just melt-in-your-mouth perfection. These are the kind of cupcakes that ruin all other cupcakes for you. Absolute must-try

Finally, spring break when the town is only filled with visitors -- able to get into this place! They have been known to sell out before the day ends. Had to experience the hype for the experience! The lines started to form as soon as we got in line. Cupcakes are heavily topped with butter cream. The cake itself was still moist but it wasn't over the top I'll wait in line next time. Banana pudding was sold out by 11:00am! Must have been good!

Pro-tip: Make sure to visit the whole experience Magnolia offers. Chip and Joanne have certainly succeeded with building their franchise into a full experience. Magnolia, as a whole, is very cute. Their style is obviously very appealing -- cute shops, a cafe, a restored chapel, an open lawn with games, local food trucks, and the bakery of course! Much more I'm not listing. The baked goods are just okay. Definitely more of an experience and the service is welcoming. I did appreciate that the cinnamon roll was served warm. A (picky) criticism -- while a matchbook is $7 (when usually free at hotels and restaurants, for example), the bakery hands out menu cards to fill out. While the process may seem to improve efficiency, our party simply made our orders and staff didn't even need to use the cars...meaning they got tossed without being needed. Seems like a waste of paper and costs...

Strawberry and cream and lemon lavender

The cupcake styled cups I saw when I walked in told me this was a upscale bakery that would not disappoint - and I was right. The strawberry and cream cupcake was my favorite hands down. The bread was moist and flavorful with the right amount of strawberry flavor. I also really enjoyed the lemon lavender icing as well. Amazing work on the icing! The lemon lavender gave me gentle poppyseed vibes which I felt could be improved with a little more flavor. Overall, amazing place and will try more baked goods here again!

Super pretty, loved the store and all of the kitchen items for sale! I ordered the pumpkin and lemon lavender cupcakes and they were okay. The pumpkin cake was good, but it lacked that pumpkin spice flavor, perhaps it wasn't as rich in cinnamon/ginger/nutmeg/clove as I've had in other pumpkin recipes. The frosting was a little too sweet for my taste and didn't enhance the pumpkin as much as I'd hoped. The lemon lavender cake was delicious, but the frosting was also too sweet! I wish I could have ordered the cupcake without the frosting. It wasn't either too lemony nor too much lavender, both powerful flavors that balanced each other well in this recipe!

Lemon lavender smelled so lemony the minute you peel back the paper! Highly recommend! #silobration is at the end of this week!

I happened to be in Plano over the weekend for a conference so since I came this far, I hopped on a bus to Waco, scheduled myself less than 24 hours in Waco, and here is one of my #MagnoliaMonday stops. I was actually glad that I got to see everything just a few days before #Silobration. But mark my words, I plan to go back one day for the full event! First of all, this is a tiny little shop and the line often goes to or out the door. If you don't have a lot of time, consider ordering ahead on their website and pick up. I had considered that, but then I wound up with more time and I was able to experience the warmth of the shop. They have ordering cards right inside the door with a pencil so you can sit and debate about which ones you want. They have regular flavors and seasonal flavors of cupcakes, cookies, and other sweet treats. They also have all sorts of magnolia merchandise that would remind you of the warmth of the experience. I had quickly settled on which cupcake I wanted to order and believe me I would've loved to have tried more, but I knew they would not travel well and I was about to hop on a bus. So in line, I stared at the walls, the shelving, the wood, and all the special details- just in awe of the creativity. This was my last stop and each individual store had a similar comfort yet distinct feeling, all selling significantly different experiences. I took my lemon lavender cupcake and sat outside so I could spend my last few minutes in the shade of the silos. The cupcake was so delicious and moist and not overly sweet! I can't wait to go back either alone or with girlfriends, stay longer and try a sampler.

We came here close to three years ago, but I am just now reviewing this place. I was really curious to why there were so many people lined up outside, and I honestly wasn't aware that this was owned by Chip & Joanna Gaines. So obviously, I had to be a follower and drag my husband to try this place out. I normally love to try out bakeries wherever we travel. We got a little bit of everything and then some, and keep in mind these were from a couple years ago, so some if not most of these items are not available. Seasonal Items: - Puppy Chow Hand Pie: my husband chose this one out, and surprisingly I liked this just a little more than he did. It had all the components of puppy chow, and if I'm not mistakened the inside was some kind of chocolate filling. Good, but I think it would have been better warmed up. - Nutty Cinnamon Roll: I thought I was going to like this because if I can remember correctly, this was filled with pistachios or some kind of nuts. I remember it being little dry, and once again, maybe it could have been better warmed up. Seasonal Cupcakes: - Wonderland (seasonal item - red velvet cake with peppermint buttercream and topped with crushed peppermint): I usually like red velvet cake, but this with the peppermint was a no for me. I wanted to like it, but I didn't it. My husband did though. - Cup O' Jo (seasonal item - chocolate cake with espresso buttercream and topped with a chocolate covered espresso bean): the first thing that hit me was the espresso flavor, but since it was chocolate cake I wasn't too much of a fan. It was decent, but not my favorite. - Campfire (seasonal item - chocolate cake with chocolate chips & graham cracker crust with vanilla buttercream and topped with a toasted marshmallow): once again, it was because it's chocolate cake. Not much of a fan. Regular Items: - Original Cinnamon Roll (topped with cream cheese glaze): I actually enjoyed this, when we got it I think it had just come out of the oven not to long ago because the glaze was still fairly warm. Til this day I am still talking about this cinnamon roll!! - The Silo Cookie (oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with peanut butter chips & walnuts): we liked the cookie, but didn't absolutely love it. It was decent. Regular Cupcakes: - Old School (yellow cake with chocolate buttercream and sprinkles): I'm not normally a yellow cake gal, but I wanted to give this a try, and it was okay. My husband enjoyed this more than I did. I don't think this is on the menu anymore, but at the time this was a regular item. - Strawberries 'N Cream (strawberry cake with vanilla buttercream): this was my favorite out of the six cupcakes we tried! She was light and not too sweet. I usually gravitate more towards the fruity or lemony cake flavors. - Lemon Lavender (lemon & lavender vanilla cake with lemon buttercream): this was my second favorite! There's just something about lemon cake that makes me happy. In general, we enjoyed trying this place out. I would come back for the cinnamon roll, and my two favorite cupcakes!

Stay awhile!

There comes a time in any person's life when small dreams come true, and that was my making a maiden voyage to the Magnolia compound. It's magical watching Chip & Joanna Gaines' creation spread across a few blocks - silos, but very much cohesively together, and the Bakery among my favorite to stop and catch a quick Cinnamon Roll warm from the oven. There's space for casual conversation, gifts and holiday shopping, recreation and events: a spot in your own 5 minutes of Fixer Upper: The Finished Product.

Honestly I thought the cupcakes looked mid and drown in frosting but no. These are the best cupcakes I've ever had. Brought them back to the family and everyone loved them. One, or even half of one, is enough because they're dense and rich but damn they're good. Obviously the whole Magnolia market are is a beautiful space, and the Silos bakery is no exception. The bakery itself is a tiny building. They were packed but efficient managing the line, and quick but still friendly when taking your order. I was overwhelmed by the options but the woman taking my order had good suggestions. Although you probably can't go wrong with any cupcake.

Deliciously warm cinnamon rolls. Y'all the SMELL!!!

Exceptional quality! The items you get here are high quality and delicious. The service is quick and well organized.

Ask the Community - Silos Baking

Any Vegan/GF options?

one person posted:My friend ordered the vegan cookie option and she was quite disappointed

What's the current seasonal flavors?

They have a peach lemonade and a watermelon caprese salad on their summer menu.

Do they do all their baking on site? For the crazy amount of product they sell you would think they bake at a larger facility and truck them in.

They do not do the baking on site due to the volume that they serve. The baking, from what I understand, is done at a local larger facility and brought to the Silos.

Do they offer any Keto friendly options?

I don't think so

How much are the cupcakes? Is there any package deals? I going to be passing thru and need to get a bunch for different people!

It's about $3-4 per item. There are no package deals but the cupcakes are worth it. I also recommend getting a few cookies and try the Elderflower Lemonade. Or- you can buy the lemonade at World Market and tell people it's the lemonade they serve at… Read more

Do they run out of cupcakes early?

We were there at 4 pm on a Tuesday and there were plenty of cupcakes and cinnamon rolls. They had run out of the shortbread gluten free cookies though.

Are they open on Monday, Feb. 18th?

That is Presidents day and I am confident this retail outlet will be open!

How far is Wichita falls to cupcakes shop?

Roughly 3.5 hours if you don't make a lot of stops.

Going to be there thurs night. What time should we get in line Friday morning?

The line moves fairly quickly, we waited maybe 20 minutes tops. I don't think I would worry about lining up early.

Should I refrigerate the cupcakes or leave out?

Leave out at room temp but in a sealed container

Do you serve gluten free desserts?

I haven't visited the bakery yet but I see several people have posted pictures of the menu throughout the reviews. Appears they have two different cookies offered that are gluten free. No cupcakes.

Can the cupcakes be shipped?

Alicia, I wouldn't advise them to be shipped. They are pretty dense. I bought other pastries home to eat the following day and they were pretty dry by then. Good, but not… Read more

I didn't realize that the #Magnolia properties are closed on Sunday, so I found other fun ways to get the Waco hospitality from the moment I arrived. I was actually glad that I got to see the town for what it is a few days before people traveled there from all over for #Silobration. I look forward to returning to Waco for a longer visit! I found this gem while on a Waco City Tour. They gave the tour participants the choice of coffee or ice cream and we unanimously chose ice cream. This place is so charming and their ice cream is so delicious, I will always return whenever I come back to Waco. I chose a small scoop and that was the perfect amount. While visiting Texas, I had to choose the Brown Butter TX pecan flavor. Having just said that the small was the perfect size, the next time I go back I will probably double up so that I can try more flavors since I don't get there that often. After we got our ice cream we did walk next door to the coffee shop which instantly made me wish I were in college at Baylor because what a cool yard to sit and gather with friends, study, or catch a show! Here's an idea, grab ice cream at Heritage and coffee next door for the best affogato! Can't wait to go back!
