Depending on what side you venture in or out of Magnolia, you are bound to run into the line waiting to get into Silos Baking, and you should go ahead and hop in line! We swung by on our way of Magnolia and the perfect little goodbye treats for us to pick up. First, the smell is absolutely amazing and draws you! Fresh everything being baked up on site with most of the goods on display. I was a bit unsure what to get when we walked in because of all the delicious options, but then I saw the homemade oatmeal cookie pie and that was it! My partner got the blueberry crumble muffin, not as exciting or tasty, but it was good! However the oatmeal cookie pie was scrumptious! The cookies were soft, yet firm and not crumbly while the filling was thick, light and smooth. So good! Service here, like all outlets at Magnolia, was top notch. They were hustling, but still found time to be cheerful and helpful! Overall, definitely not to be missed when visiting the Silos. You won't regret it!
We stopped in for a sweet treat as our final stop at the Silos and so glad did. As we entered there were many sweet pleasant scents that filled the air. We decided to go with all the seasonal options and each were uniquely satisfying. The texture of the marshmallow and the buttercream were positive stand outs for me.
Silos Bakery & Cafe does not miss. $5 cupcakes that taste like luxury desserts. We had the seasonal carrot cupcake and the toasted coconut, and both were incredible -- moist, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. But the real star? The frosting. So fluffy, light, and insanely delicious -- not heavy, not overly sweet, just melt-in-your-mouth perfection. These are the kind of cupcakes that ruin all other cupcakes for you. Absolute must-try
Finally, spring break when the town is only filled with visitors -- able to get into this place! They have been known to sell out before the day ends. Had to experience the hype for the experience! The lines started to form as soon as we got in line. Cupcakes are heavily topped with butter cream. The cake itself was still moist but it wasn't over the top I'll wait in line next time. Banana pudding was sold out by 11:00am! Must have been good!
Worth the wait! I knew I needed to visit Silos when I made the trip through Waco, but I didn't realize just how insanely neat this place is! As all the previous reviews state, the bakery line is in fact long but it moved quickly. My group and I only waited about five minutes from the time I joined the queue to the moment our cupcakes made it to us. We didn't stick around in the bakery for long as it was crowded with people either waiting to order or pickup their orders, and went out to find a place to sit, at which point I realized just how big Magnolia Market actually was. Before that, the cupcakes we ordered: the Gingerbread, Campfire, and Lemon Lavender. While the Lemon Lavender was recommended to me by someone who'd been here before, I actually found it to be my least favorite of the trio. It tasted like the 'safe option' I could've had anywhere else, while the others were more exciting in flavor. The Campfire had all the textures of a s'more, complete with graham crackers and a toasted marshmallow, and the Gingerbread, my favorite one, really brought home the gingerbread taste. The spices in it were so fragrant and strong without overloading your tastebuds, and the cupcake was deliciously moist. Though the amount of icing on all the cupcakes was a little too much for me, the rest of my group absolutely loved how much there was. As for the rest of the market, this place was sprawling. Food trucks, a garden, a park to relax or play with your dog, a church, outdoor games like bean bag toss, a place to practice baseball, a gift shop AND a mini shopping strip, this place had EVERYTHING. We were only able to stay for half an hour and didn't get to see everything, but this place was absolutely perfect for a day out, a date, or taking IG photos. I was admittedly convinced that this place might be overhyped, but I can totally see why it's gotten so much praise. I definitely want to make a trip back solely to try more bakery goodies and take my time to explore the grounds.
These cupcakes were amazing! If I didn't have a family history of diabetes I'd definitely be a regular at this place. Each cupcake was packed with flavor. To decedent and moist. I'll be back for sure! Ambiance is great as you can explore the compound and there are little shops with food trucks available. Nice place within the compound.
Pro-tip: Make sure to visit the whole experience Magnolia offers. Chip and Joanne have certainly succeeded with building their franchise into a full experience. Magnolia, as a whole, is very cute. Their style is obviously very appealing -- cute shops, a cafe, a restored chapel, an open lawn with games, local food trucks, and the bakery of course! Much more I'm not listing. The baked goods are just okay. Definitely more of an experience and the service is welcoming. I did appreciate that the cinnamon roll was served warm. A (picky) criticism -- while a matchbook is $7 (when usually free at hotels and restaurants, for example), the bakery hands out menu cards to fill out. While the process may seem to improve efficiency, our party simply made our orders and staff didn't even need to use the cars...meaning they got tossed without being needed. Seems like a waste of paper and costs...
The cupcake styled cups I saw when I walked in told me this was a upscale bakery that would not disappoint - and I was right. The strawberry and cream cupcake was my favorite hands down. The bread was moist and flavorful with the right amount of strawberry flavor. I also really enjoyed the lemon lavender icing as well. Amazing work on the icing! The lemon lavender gave me gentle poppyseed vibes which I felt could be improved with a little more flavor. Overall, amazing place and will try more baked goods here again!
Super pretty, loved the store and all of the kitchen items for sale! I ordered the pumpkin and lemon lavender cupcakes and they were okay. The pumpkin cake was good, but it lacked that pumpkin spice flavor, perhaps it wasn't as rich in cinnamon/ginger/nutmeg/clove as I've had in other pumpkin recipes. The frosting was a little too sweet for my taste and didn't enhance the pumpkin as much as I'd hoped. The lemon lavender cake was delicious, but the frosting was also too sweet! I wish I could have ordered the cupcake without the frosting. It wasn't either too lemony nor too much lavender, both powerful flavors that balanced each other well in this recipe!
I had a good experience at silos baking. There was no line, the food was good and not super expensive. The interior was very nice. I went to silos baking on a Monday (Memorial Day!) I was expecting it to be packed and expensive - it was neither of those things. Service was very quick. I got the chocolate chip cookie. It was ok, but definitely not worth $4. The oatmeal cream pie was a little too sweet as well. Overall, it was still a fun experience and I'm glad I stopped in. Very cool building and overall area around the bakery. Very clean and beautiful landscaping. Lot's of seating outside (no seating inside bakery). The cup cake flavors were unique and sounded delicious BUT they were just ok... most of the cupcakes were dry. Ordered a Spring Box and a few more cupcakes not included in the spring box... Was hoping for soooooo much better... pretty disappointed. The chocolate cupcake was DELICIOUS!! There was a line but they were prepared by handing everyone an order form in advance to speed up the ordering. Line moved fairly quickly. I would return to try the Magnolia diner next door... probably wouldn't buy any cupcakes again. read more

As someone who does not normally spend $4 on a cookie, lemme tell you that this was the best $4 spent on a cookie. The chocolate chip cookie was perhaps one of the greatest I ever had, and that is no exaggeration. I literally didn't even eat it right after I bought it, rather it stayed in my bag for like 5 hours until I whipped it out on the plane. I can't even fathom how good it would be fresh from the oven. 1000000/10 recommend, even though my arteries were crying right after. read more

I was excited to try the Silos Baking. I honestly didn't have any expectations but it blew my mind! To be honest I thought the cupcake was going to be small, but i was wrong!! The cupcake was BIG and it was listed for a decent price it was not overpriced. Sometimes you go to a known cupcake place and the cupcakes are overpriced for the size. The flavor and taste was DELISH and it wasn't dry. Definitely worth trying and yes you may have to wait in line but it went by quickly when i went. The good thing is that they give you a form to fill to order your cupcakes. So you already have an idea of what you want to order. The place is tiny, but you can eat your goodies outside. Since there's a sitting area. Overall, i highly recommend trying Silos Baking! read more
An hour and half drive from Austin. An entire HGTV theme park, but home to some of the best cinnamon rolls and cup cakes you'll ever eat!!! I mean delicious!!! Service staff were inviting and friendly. They told what were customer favorites as well as their limited time seasonal selections. Stopped by for the ambiance, left with a dozen cupcakes, and these are HUGE cupcakes btw, and a cinnamon roll. Definitely making a return trip read more

This is part of the Magnolia Silo area. We apparently arrived at a very busy time, they only allowed a few people inside at a time. We were left to stand outside in 100 degree weather, unfortunately there is no shade in that area so keep that in mind - we allowed an elderly couple to go ahead of us as she was looking overheated. There is no seating inside, you are able to take your items and sit in the outdoor seating area within the complex. You are handed a menu and pencil when you walk in, and once you get to the counter you just hand over the menu. All the staff were very busy and seemed preoccupied, while no one was unfriendly they were only there to serve you. The only acknowledgment we received was the amount of our bill. We ordered a Vanilla Cupcake (which was very lemony- I wish it was more vanilla flavored, wouldn't order again), a Brownie Cookie, a Chocolate Chip Cookie, and a Salted Carmel Cookie. As a solo traveler from Pittsburgh on a rare kid-free adventure, Silos Baking Company was pure magic from the moment I walked in. I was greeted by the warm, buttery scent of fresh-baked happiness (seriously, can someone bottle that?). The staff was all smiles -- offering spot-on recommendations and genuinely taking time to chat with each customer like we were neighbors borrowing sugar. After making my selections (okay, maybe more than I planned), I grabbed a seat outside by the iconic silos. My favorite cupcake was the staff favorite "pumpkin spice", although this is a seasonal treat (which heavily influenced me to try it). All the other offerings looked amazing, especially the giant cinnamon rolls. I don't think there is a wrong choice here. Heads up - if you want coffee to go with your treat, you'll need to head just a few steps away to Magnolia Press. The line forms out the door pretty early, so you may want to stop there first. With plenty of space to sit, snack, and people-watch, it was the perfect little pause in my day. If you're visiting Waco, this spot is a must -- just don't blame me if you end up with a box instead of just one cupcake! read more
I'll preface that I am not a fangirl of Fixer Upper/Chip and Joanne Gaines. I never watched their shows or followed their work. I just happened to be in Waco and from research I learned that Magnolia is the biggest attraction there. I parked closest to Silos Baking and decided to check the place out since there was a small line out the door. We got a cupcake, cinnamon roll, prize pig, and a cookie. All the treats were good, but it's not spectacular or special. It wasn't that Instagrammable either for those who do it for the 'gram. Maybe the place is to show off that you're at the Silos. Giving four stars because the service was good and the treats were good. I feel that this place would truly be appreciated if you're a fan of the Gaines. read more
This was my first time in Waco and I was told that I must stop by the Silos. Granted I don't watch HGTV so I'm not into the hype surrounding the celebrity designers. However I am a food snob so the bakery was definitely on the to do list! As far as the ambiance, it was very well organized with the host at the door distributing the menus and two cashiers up front. The line was to the door when we arrived, but as the host stated, it moved very quickly. We ordered a lavender strawberry cupcake , (I'm pretty sure that's what she said although that option was not on the menu since it's seasonal and it also didn't allow me to select that for the picture description.) My son had a chocolate chip cookie and then I got the vegan salted caramel cookie which was prepackaged. My son devoured his cookie, but he is six years old and will eat anything that contains sugar with pleasure. Upon biting into my cookie, it tasted like a brick of salt. The vegan cookie was horrible. I know I know, most people reading this are probably thinking "who would go to a bakery in TX and order vegan treats". But my main reason was because I love salted caramel so I figured it would be great vegan or not; but that was not so. It was overly salty and hard with hints of caramel. They need to start over and try again. The cupcake had a nice flavor and was nice and moist with a ton of icing on top of course. If you go, my suggestion is to stick to the cupcakes and probably the fresh, non-prepackaged cookies. I also had the rose and lavender Tea, which was interesting yet refreshing. read more

I've been to the Silos before and truly love the area. This time I drove from Dallas specifically to try the Bakery! There was a special for $25 box of the summer flavors. The cupcakes are very pretty and the icing is nice and dense- but very sweet. I ate mainly the cake portion and scraped off the icing. I must say I am normally not a fan of any type of icing, so I do this with all cake and cupcakes. read more
I'm a bit disappointed with the quality of the pastries sold here. First of all they look like packaged cookies that have just been removed from bags and taste super sweet. Like you are eating artificial flavored sugar and I don't know what cookies. Same with the cupcakes. Very disappointing. The shop is super cute just like everything else at the Silos. Highly recommend this bake shop! The frosting on the cupcakes is INCREDIBLE. I did the walking tour of magnolia and our guide works at the Silos Baking Co and she said the standard is if they wouldn't hand the cupcake to Joanna Gaines, they won't hand it to a customer. And I believe it! The seasonal box has cupcakes for the price of 1 free. They also have gluten free cookies, that are delicious. Pro tip go first thing in the morning to avoid the lines and simply save the treat to enjoy later. read more
Visited Magnolia Market today and had to stop here for cupcakes. The line is long so come prepared. We waited about 30 minutes. They hand you a menu where you can mark your items ahead of time which is good, but the line still moves a little slow because the cashier still has to enter your order into the register. They should have a person taking the orders ahead of time in line and you just pay when you get to the front. The cupcakes however were good, but the icing on them is the big hit here. We ordered the Shiplap and the Lemon Lavender cupcakes. They were delicious. We also ordered the cinnamon roll which was amazing. We really enjoyed the desserts here. I love everything Magnolia, but I just had a customer service experience that left me wanting to cry. On Magnolia's Instagram they advertise this week having a 10% discount for Baylor folks, so I eagerly go for some of the Baylor themed cupcakes. When I try to redeem the discount they didn't know what I was talking about, so they chatted with a manager. When they came back they said the discounts won't take place until Thursday, unlike what it said on the Instagram caption. (Pictured) I wasn't fighting them on it but I was confused and read that on their social media it was the entire week. Then one of the girls behind the counter gave me the dirtiest look. As if I am the most annoying, Karen customer to have walked in. I was very polite but just confused about how the discount was being advertised and their manager said something completely different. I said that's totally fine, paid, and went my way. However that extremely mean face the employee made me to feel I was an absolute terrible person. read more
Didn't have high expectations for this as food isn't what they are known for, but these were some of the best cupcakes we've had. Tried the Lemon and lavender, chocolate, cookies and cream, and short break cookies. Everything was delicious and nicely presented. It is a bit of an assembly line in there, but you are really just grabbing a snack before or after hitting the shops so it is fine. What a great bakery! Everything we got tasted phenomenal. We tried the oatmeal cookie and the cinnamon roll- both were 10/10! The bakery doesn't seem to be well run... I was the only one in line in the stanchions and waiting my turn to order. People kept entering through the "exit" door and would continue ordering ahead of me. There were four employees behind the counter and only one employee was taking order. I don't know what the other three were doing... Then as customers exited, they walked through the stanchions (the line forming behind me) to exit through the "enter" door. It was just unorganized and took a long time to order. read more

The line was long but moved pretty quickly. There is a "menu" by the door where you can mark your order and hand it to a cashier. Then your name is called when your order is ready. I was ready to be wowed by this bakery but I may have set my expectations too high. I was very excited to try the seasonal offering after watching the Silos Baking Competition. The winner made a delicious-looking devil cake and I love chocolate! The actual pastry from the bakery was different than the one from the show winner. It tasted more like a pastry from a grocery store than a bakery. My mom got a classic chocolate chip cookie. Neither of us liked the cookie. The line was not that long when we were there, which was a plus. Both the cookie and the devil cake were large, which would have been a plus if we liked them. I love how you walk in and are handed a card and menu where you can see the items they have and the ingredients. Once you reach the order counter you can hand them the card with your order or just let them know what you want. We ordered the seasonal Gingerbread Cookie Pie, the Nuts and Bolts Cupcake and the Silo cookie. All 3 were delicious. Definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area to enjoy some delicious sweets. read more

While in Waco, my wife wanted to stop at Silos Baking. It's The first building on the corner of the Magnolia buildings. Lots of parking in the area. There's a lot of charges $10, but we were able to find a spot on the street. Short way to get in. They don't allow the customers to fill the building. As some leave they bring in more. Every one of the employees I spoke to were very pleasant and happy. You can tell they enjoyed their jobs and liked what they do. There are some items to be purchased as souvenirs. We only ended up getting two things. First was the prize pig. Bacon and cheddar with chive biscuit. Very good. We also got the lemon lavender cupcake. The presentation was so great, we almost didn't want to eat it. When we did we were surprised on how delicious it was. The cupcake was very moist and flavorful. The lemon topping was creamy and complemented the cupcake perfectly. We enjoyed both right outside at the tables and chairs they have set up. Lots of great photo opportunities. Definitely stop here if you are in Waco. Five stars! read more

We tried some delicious baked goods from Silos Baking while in Waco. The orange and chocolate cupcakes were excellent. We also loved the brownie cookie. The croissants are perfectly flaky and melt in your mouth. Silos Baking did not disappoint! read more

What's the current seasonal flavors?
They have a peach lemonade and a watermelon caprese salad on their summer menu.
Do they do all their baking on site? For the crazy amount of product they sell you would think they bake at a larger facility and truck them in.
They do not do the baking on site due to the volume that they serve. The baking, from what I understand, is done at a local larger facility and brought to the Silos.
How much are the cupcakes? Is there any package deals? I going to be passing thru and need to get a bunch for different people!
It's about $3-4 per item. There are no package deals but the cupcakes are worth it. I also recommend getting a few cookies and try the Elderflower Lemonade. Or- you can buy the lemonade at World Market and tell people it's the lemonade they serve at…
Do they run out of cupcakes early?
We were there at 4 pm on a Tuesday and there were plenty of cupcakes and cinnamon rolls. They had run out of the shortbread gluten free cookies though.
Are they open on Monday, Feb. 18th?
That is Presidents day and I am confident this retail outlet will be open!
How far is Wichita falls to cupcakes shop?
3-4hours. Alot of construction traffic

The line moves fairly quickly, we waited maybe 20 minutes tops. I don't think I would worry about lining up early.

Leave out at room temp but in a sealed container
Do you serve gluten free desserts?
I haven't visited the bakery yet but I see several people have posted pictures of the menu throughout the reviews. Appears they have two different cookies offered that are gluten free. No cupcakes.
Can the cupcakes be shipped?
Alicia, I wouldn't advise them to be shipped. They are pretty dense. I bought other pastries home to eat the following day and they were pretty dry by then. Good, but not…
