I ordered a cake on March 17th 2026 for my son's graduation party happening on May 22nd, 2026. I sent an email verifying that all was ready a week prior to party. The day of party I was told I couldn't pick ip the cake at the scheduled time because it was still being worked on due to staff shortage. The cake was instead dropped off to my house several hours after the planned time. The cake was crooked. There were finger prints in the icing. The OU lettering was printed on paper and just slapped on the cake all crooked. The printer used was clearly running out of ink so green lines ran through half the logo. The white paper in the center of the O wasn't even cut out. Despite it being very ugly my father in law was willing to taste it so I cut into the cake and the slice had a long hair smashed between the icing and the cake. Obviously we didn't eat any of it. Thankfully I had time to run to HEB and get a generic graduation cake. I paid $150 for this custom cake and still a week after this disaster was dropped at my house I have not received a refund. I ordered a strawberry pie for Grandson BD on Monday January 5th. And I picked up today Saturday. There is a photo at the store if what's it is supposed to look like. This is NOT it! It only had whipped crème around pie crust and filling there was so little filling that the crust was still very visable. it was supposed to be completely covered by whipped cream which it was no where near that and missing decor in middle of pie (was suppose to be strawberry) When I ask lady at store why pie was not what I ordered she said" we ran out of whipped cream" And they put sprinkles on it! Who ordered spinkles? this is for an adult BD! Then they put it in tall cake box and lid fit poorly. Didn't put a Simply Del sticker on it and I wouldn't want claim that pie either. I've ordered from there and always been pleased but this is just poor quality and very disappointing. I gave them plenty of time on order to prepare! Walked in, paid $20 for a 6 inch "lemon lavender" cake. I was super excited as I love those flavors together. Turns out the only lavender was the coloring of the buttercream icing. I always heard good things about this bakery and finally decided to go check it out. The place is a bit obscure, since it is a building attachment to a warehouse and you must drive through the gates to get to it. I was still determined to try these cupcakes everyone talked about. Going inside you will see many beautiful cakes and case of cupcakes they have on hand. I tried the lemon, strawberry, and champagne cupcake, since I'm not a big fan of chocolate. The price was reasonable at just over $2 a cupcake (I've paid more for a cupcake so that doesn't bother me). I have not tried the champagne yet, but I first tried the lemon since lemon is always a favorite of mine and promptly threw it away. The frosting had no flavoring and was basic, possibly over sweet, and the cupcake had a hint of lemon, but I wouldn't call it a lemon cupcake. Perhaps with there was some lemon curd in the middle it would have spruced it up. The strawberry cupcake had a mixed review as the cake part tasted like a boxed strawberry cake but the frosting was amazingly strawberry sweet cream taste. I ate all the frosting off of it. I since I have such a mixed review, I'm hoping the champagne cupcake will be a delightful surprise. read more

Josh A.....I find it very hard to believe that you are a culinary instructor or a food critic. First of all, if you were this master culinary artist you claim to be, you would have made your own darn cake!!! Secondly, an acclaimed food critic would at least know how to spell and use proper grammar. And plus, I think you should be THANKFUL that this establishment let your son use their restroom instead of criticizing them. And if you notice, this is the only review he has ever done on yelp. A food critic...doubt it!!! It just sounds to me that all of this is made up. I own several businesses myself and if I had to bet money...I would put up $1,000 that this person is an ex employee who got fired and now wants to say anything and everything they can to make this place look bad. There is a reason they OWN the business and YOU are just an employee (or ex employee). I find your review ridiculously hilarious and NOT AT ALL believable!!! UPDATE: 05/28/15 Ok, so after reading the regular reviews, and then the ridiculous review from Josh A, I had to go try out some cupcakes, and ended up getting a variety. I know Waco is a small town and so there is slim pickings for quality in this town. So I give Simply Delicious a "E" for effort. But as a Culinary instructor in the baking and patisserie field at a well know international culinary school and as a food critic and blogger, I would give this bakery an "F" for being a want to be large scale bakery but it is obvious that there are few if any trained bakers or pastry chefs in the building. But there is little competition in this town. With that said I came into town for the holidays with my family and wanted to check out what Waco had to offer and heard they were the best in town. My first Impression is that it was very hard to find with old and very weak street advertising. Second I was surprised it was in an industrial manufacturing building with a bakery squished in the front after you had to pass through a guarded gate to even reach the bakery. Third the show room and consult area looked drab, outdated and very uninviting. Plus the display cakes were very dusty and dirty and the design work was very poor and outdated and the fondant and buttercream work was chipping off the cake molds. You can tell they haven't changed in a while and their design aesthetic is very poor and out of date and not up with the trends of the decade. Fourth, the young girl with long red curly hair that they had come out from the kitchen to assist me was very rude and seemed more interested in her cell phone while I was making my selections from the dessert case. Apparently my child and I were taking to long so she told me that she was going to step back into the kitchen and to"let her know when I'm finally ready." While I was left alone in the show room I could hear these girls who could not have been over their early twenties and maybe teens talk about how they partied that weekend and some kind of personal information about boyfriends and cheating???? I don't know...??? And with no door on from the kitchen to the show room it was very easy to hear and see into the kitchen. Fifth, my child had to use the rest room so I stick my head in the kitchen doorway and politely asked if they had a restroom? They informed me that they did but it was in the kitchen and so the showed my child to the restroom, just a note that's a health code violation to allow any non certified non employee into that kitchen! While I observed the kitchen workers while my child was in the rest room and I'm not to sure they saw me watching. I observed an older man working on some custard or cream maybe a meringue or whipped cream in a mixer that he proceeded to stick his finger in the mixture and put his finger in his mouth to taste it without a glove on and then continue to mix the desert with out washing his hands and then he did it again! A huge health code violation! Sixth, when my child returned from the bathroom he told me that the toilet was not flushed and there was feces sitting in the toilet. Another health code violation! Seventh, while waiting for my child another customer came in to pick up a cake or something in a box and the same young girl that helped me came out and gave her order to her and the customer paid with cash, the employee took the cash and placed it in the draw and walked straight back to her cake she was decorating and never washed hands after handling the money....you guessed, health code violation! I saw an employee with brown hair walk in and clock in and then walk around the back and into the bathroom in the kitchen shut the door and a few minutes emerged to put her apron on and get to work on base icing a cake...never going to the hand washing sink wherever that may have been located in the kitchen to wash her hands a second time after using the rest room and the kitchen hand washing sink CAN'T be located in any bathroom. It has to be a special designated sink just for the employee to wash their hands before any food handling begins. So need less to say my child and I walked out without buying anything and I would caution anyone who shops there to not be fooled by there pretty bows on their specialty cakes or deserts because you don't know how long they have sat there being exposed to the elements or human error and it only take 2'people to get sick from there for it to be considered a food born illness outbreak! Just my professional opinion and I don't have anything to lose because I'm not even from Waco, I just felt I needed to do what was right before someone got sick or hurt. My family is very involved in Waco chamber of commerce, Waco ISD, Cattle Baron's Ball and much more Waco event and culture and I have advised them to stay away from this bakery and to tell there friends. it's just not safe! I purchased a cake from this bakery for my son's 45th birthday celebration on June 24. The bakery was recommended by a family member so I thought I would give it a try. Very bad Idea!! The cake turned out to be an absolute disaster in every sense of the word. I gave the baker a photo of a guitar cake that i had selected but the cake turned out to be an absolute disappointment. I had seen a photo of a guitar cake that the bakery had done in the past and so i assumed that i would get the same quality but not so. The icing on the cake was very uneven and even smeared in places. The neck of the guitar had a rather large sink spot in it and looked like the baker had tried to patch it up with frosting because there was very little cake and primarily frosting in that area. Family and friends commented on the very poor quality of cake decorating and design. I cannot in good faith recommend this bakery to anyone. The price I paid for this cake should have warranted the highest quality of workmanship. I am still upset over the lack of attention given to detail and design on this very expensive cake. read more
