I was hoping for the sort of coffee shop where I could sit for a few hours with a laptop and some coffee, but no. This is more cafe and they have a full breakfast menu. On this Sunday morning, the place was crowded and there was a queue so I did the right thing and didn't dawdle after my meal. A lovely ham and cheese omelet was prepared for me. It took about 20 minutes which seems appropriate considering how busy they were. During that time, my coffee was refilled twice and then another cup later. The omelet was a nice sized portion and the marble rye toast was delicious. Definitely a good meal and maybe I'll return when it's not quite so busy. Not much is open early on a Sunday morning here in Waco. I checked out the menu and saw the blueberry pancakes and had to have them. Just a block from our hotel so came on over and so glad I did. Service was quick and friendly and the pancakes were amazing! It's a smaller cafe, nothing super fancy but food was exactly what we needed on this brisk morning. If you like thick cut bacon, it's a nice addition to your meal. Ordered mine well done and they came out crisp to perfection. The staff was especially friendly, starting with a friendly hostess who seated me. My waitress was great about giving me recommendations and while eating, several people asked how my food was. I ordered a side of bacon (nice and thick!), biscuits with gravy (just okay, a little bland), and a cinnamon roll (solid 4.5/5). And the menu offer something for everyone! I love that the omelets come with your choice of pancake or toast because an omelet and pancake is THE perfect breakfast combo. I'm not sure where to begin with this so I'll start with the only good thing about my visit. The chocolate milk. 8 out of 10 on the chocolate late milk. I had the sausage, jalapeños, and cheese omelette and it was not very good. The sausage was cut up into tasteless very fine small squares and the eggs tasted almost rubbery. It was almost like eating hotel breakfast. The toast was not toasted and the service was extremely slow. It was a weekday and there were only two other customers, however, it seemed no one could find their server. When they finally brought the check I just handed my card to them so that we wouldn't have to wait another 20 minutes. Two of those lovely biscuit/ dinner rolls were 5.95. We had to ask our waitress to refill our coffee she spent more time tacking with the other waitress while everyone else worked hard around her. And can I just say. You can have long fake nails you can do what you want with your personal space and person. Been here a few times, it's one of the better breakfast places in Waco. We waited about about 5-10 minutes using the check in website to check in. Service was quick to get us drinks and take our food order. After we ordered it took a bit for our food to come out. Maybe 25-30 minutes. The music kept fluctuating in volume which was a bit distracting. Also someone was messing with the lights. The lights in the restaurant turned on and off a few times but no big deal. The food was mostly very great. Mexican mash is super flavorful. Everything was cooked really well except the biscuits and gravy was cold. One single egg on the side was charged 4.05 with surprising and a bit of a rip off since a lot of the items were just barely more than that for a larger amount of food. Service was just bad, contacted because our table was supposedly ready. We went up waiting another 2025 minutes. The owner manager or server, not sure she was seem to be very scatterbrained. Food we hadn't been back to this place in over a year and now on this visit we remembered why. The food was just bad. My wife had something that they called grits, but it was really overwatered, mysterious and gruel. When she asked if she got grits or oatmeal the scatterbrain server manager person said oh that's our oatmeal.. so oatmeal is gruel. The eggs were slimy undercooked and the bacon was half burned and slightly raw on the other end not sure how this was accomplished. Ambience the bathrooms are science experiment and truly dirty, the chair I said was falling apart. The vinyl was peeling around my hands as I adjusted where I was sitting. The furniture seems to be slightly outdated and repair. We will be back we can say that this is our daughter last year at BAYLOR so there's no need to make a return visit . read more

This is easily one of my favorite breakfast/lunch spots in Waco, which says a lot because I haven't been particularly impressed with the food in the area since I relocated. The food has always been great every time; flavorful food with a home cooked vibe and no gimmicks. The best part is that it's not ridiculous overpriced to keep up with the touristy nature of downtown. My favorite meal is the fajita omelette, but everything that I've ordered has been great. The only draw back is that they don't have a kids menu. That said, you can order a la cart items, or they can make the pancakes in small sizes instead of the giant pancake. Even so, it's still probably more bang for your buck than a kid's portion someplace else. This Cafe Cappuccino location is right downtown across from the farmers market making it super convenient. But more importantly, the service is so warm and welcoming! If you're in the downtown area and looking for a quality and reasonably priced breakfast or lunch definitely stop by! read more
