Serious southern/soul food is served here. The food is served cafeteria-style with a server. He was super friendly and helpful. The place is clean. Pictures tell the story. We really liked it.

Chicken fried steak, stewed okra, collard greens and sliced potatoes.

Absolutely delicious. Generous portions, many choices and everything was tasty. 5 of us ate here and everyone loved what they got. Chicken fried steaks were large and crispy. The greens and cabbage were amazing and my hubby swore the dressing was the same as his grandmas. Very polite and helpful staff, we will definitely be back.

Very tasty and satisfying Southern food. I really don't think it gets any better than this. Service is off the hook. Was served by Iman pronounced (E maun) , she did an awesome service for us .

Fried chicken, real mashed potatoes, squash casserole, cabbage

Oh My GOODNESS!!! Best home cookin in Texas! My mom and I stopped by on Monday, our first day in Waco, and George greeted us warmly and apologized for being closed. But he chatted with us, recommended a good burger spot, Double R, and sent us off with some buttermilk pie! Best darn buttermilk pie I've ever eaten! So we came back Tuesday and oh my... it all looked so yummy. I had beef necks and smoked sausage, Mac n cheese and cabbage. My momma had fried chicken, squash casserole, cabbage and mashed potatoes. We got dessert to go... peach cobbler and banana pudding, and 6 smoked sausage to take home to our hubbies!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you stop here and eat when in Waco. Yes the building is older but much of Waco is. It's very nice and clean and the people are amazing Ohhh and they serve you cornbread

Smothered pork chops, dressing, okra and fried cabbage.

Not sure why they are closed. Maybe for good? Yelp says they're open. Reviews are great. Closed on a Friday afternoon.

Our family loves Pride Burger. The food is always great, and you cannot beat the price. Oh yeah, and make sure you get the onion rings!

This is NOT southern food unless you mean south of the border. Staff was nice but I was highly disappointed with the mexican fare offered.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in and directed to choose a table of our preference. The waitress quickly came over and grabbed our drink order while we looked at the menu. We placed our order and the waitress was very knowledgeable and able to answer our questions. She also informed us they work as a team so we can stop anyone when/if we need something. We started with the "Burning Bush" appetizer (crispy Brussel sprouts w/ lemon garlic aioli). YUM! They had just the right bite to them, and the glaze on them paired with the aioli was delicious! For our entrees we had the Golden Calf Burger w/ sweet potato fries and sriracha aioli and The Weight of Glory Sandwich w/ broccoli slaw. They were both incredibly flavorful and fresh! You can tell they locally source their ingredients and prepare them onsite. The portions are also plentiful, and we left with a takeout box. To round off lunch we tried the special mousse on the specials board (coffee flavored cheesecake mousse). It was so delightful we dug in before I could snap a pic. Just enough coffee flavor paired with chocolate sauce (not hersheys ). The big windows allow for a lot of natural light and lends to a welcoming and warm environment. We will for sure be back and bring others!

I especially enjoyed how the herbed goat cheese mixed with the lemon aioli (aioli is garlic mayo so the garlic is redundant in the menu) and beef patty. That combo was deadly to me, oof Some nice cold coleslaw to compliment the hot burger was a nice mix. I still haven't forgotten how heavy their tomato soup is! So packed with flavor omg. Friendly + quick staff as always and gorgeous wooden seating.

A great pit stop en route to Dallas…read more Came in hungry and left very happy. I got the daily quiche with fruit and was honestly shocked by how much fruit they give you. It came with this amazing poppyseed dip that made it even better. We also ordered the cheese poppers with jalapeño ranch and definitely underestimated them. They were crispy, curdy, and super addictive. The chicken fried steak was another win. Hand-breaded, flavorful, and covered in their homemade gravy. Straight-up comfort food. Dessert is a must. We got the banana pudding meringue and absolutely demolished it. It's said to be one of the owner's mother's recipes. The atmosphere has a clean 1950s vibe with retro decor and vintage car parts everywhere, which was pretty fun and different. Our server, Cindy, was super friendly and gave great recommendations. Overall, really solid experience. Would definitely come back.

The retro themed eatery with gas themed memorabilia is an eye pleaser. The meals are served in old hubcaps, just to keep you submerged in that classic ol' timeliness. Regular burger was delicious with a side car of their fried okra. Kids meals are a wow factor as they use those 3D cardboard replica boxes of cars. Ours now drives around Barbie dolls! Their hours can be a bit inconvenient if you don't plan accordingly to eat here (open 11AM-2PM). Don't let that stop you for adding them to your Waco vacation plans!

It comes with catfish but they let you choose your fish if you want something different! It comes with 2 sides so I got fries and fried okra. The fried okra was the star of that show for me! Also, I switched out the catfish for Blue Whiting. Everything was well seasoned and delish. My husband ordered the Blue Whiting platter which was 2 whiting filets and a side. He considered getting the etouffee so while we ate she brought out a small taste of it for us to sample for next time. (And there will be a next time!)
