Oh I hate to down grade. But Magic Nails has declined a little during my last few visits. The service is still friendly and the price is still reasonable. The place is still clean and free of harsh aromas but it is starting to become one of those cookie cutter strip mall establishments and has lost some of its luster. I mostly have a beef with the pedicures. Their pedicure stations are starting to look pretty worn. One time I went, the pedicure basin leaked water out onto the floor. This most recent time, they couldn't get the water to warm up, nor were the jets working and instead of letting me sit at another station, my tech just tried to fix the jet. The end result being a weak stream of water aimed at my ankles. Spa pedicure? I don't think so. And while I used to rave about their hot stone massage pedicures it has now become a luke warm stone, very mild pressure massage. Weak. They still do a great job on the polish on the toenails and no chip manicure. They have a huge selection of colors. It's just so sad that one of my favorites is no longer my gold standard. read more

Part of me feels like being properly pampered is just not my destiny and it has nothing to do with the people doing the pampering. Every other time I go to a salon, something goes wrong. #firstworldproblems I had a really rough morning so I stopped in during my lunch break. The wait was minimal; I took my sweet time comparing shades of coral and was quickly seated for a $16 basic mani. I knocked off a star was because my lady looked like she didn't want to be there the entire time she was doing my nails. I know I'm not paying for a shrink, but I was hoping to have a few laughs or at least vent a little to make the day better. Regardless, she was extremely gracious and fixed my polish after I stupidly knocked my freshly painted digits against the table. It... was one of those days. Since I didn't do much chatting, I was able to observe various things going on around me and I was really blown away by how clean they kept everything. A lot of salons do a crappy job cleaning the pedicure tubs but Magic was on top of that! All the tools were brought to the tables sanitized and wrapped, comparable to tools at the dentists office. It sounded like the majority of the patrons are regulars so that's always a good sign. Their pedicures looked fantastic so if I come back, it'll be for that rather than a mani. With so many positive reviews, I decided to give Magic Nails a try. My sister and I came here for dueling mani/pedis to kick off our sister date. This salon is located in a strip mall just down the way from Naf Naf Grill. Naf Naf is one my faves so I was quite familiar with the location. Upon entering Magic Nails, I noticed the decor - which was very up-to-date and tidy. We liked how this place was laid out and the wall o nail polishes for us to browse. After settling on our choices we headed over to the pedi area and got our soak and scrub on. Ahhhh. Then they busted out hot stones and rubbed our calves with them. Ahhh.... After our tootsies were all pretty and shiney, we headed over for our manicures. The gals were quick, accurate and pleasant. We thought they did a nice job on our fingers and toes...although I felt they filed my nails down WAY too much. I survived though. Magic Nails is reasonably priced and like I said...the facility itself is really nice. Probably the nice nail salon I've ever encountered which just adds to the experience. read more

So after seeing all these great reviews I decided to go get a last minute pedicure. They were able to accommodate me right away and were nice enough. The salon is very clean, like other yelpers have said, and a huge selection of nail colors. Unfortunately, that's where the good review ends. I opted for the $40 special pedicure that included a scrub of some kind on my feet and calves as well as a paraffin wax treatment on the feet. Everything was going okay, despite the usual roughness that seems to always go along with pushing back the cuticles, but when she used the scrub on my calves and feet, it was very painful!! Ow!! She was just rubbing so hard against my legs. I'm surprised I don't have scratches all over, seriously it hurt that bad. After getting over that, things went back to normal again.. until the wax treatment. I'm not sure if they just microwave this stuff and assume it's warm enough/cool enough. But holy hell, it was scalding my feet. It took everything in me to not scream to get it off! To top it all off, the girl was talking on her bluetooth the ENTIRE TIME. I was not expecting a typical nail salon where the men and women are constantly speaking in a different language. Not to be rude, but I don't think anyone appreciates that, and after reading all these great reviews, I was sure that magic nails was not like that. A few months back after I decided I was not satisfied with the first place I went to, I tried to go to a place I went to last December in Warrenville, IL by the Super Target unfortunately they was no longer in business... So I Yelped Nail Salons and Magic Nails in Naperville was pretty close. I walked in and within minutes I was sitting in Victor's chair. I love Victor! He consulted with me during my first visit to get to know me, my nails and learn what my personal nail style was. This salon is clean, spacious and efficient. I have been going to Victor since August to get acrylic nails with a gel polish overlay. My nails have never lifted, the gel coats has never chipped and my cuticles don't split or peel. I have also noticed that my nail bed has gotten longer which pleases me. I strongly recommend Magic Nails. I am staying in Lombard, IL and I pass at least 100 nail salons in my 12 minute drive to this location! Trust me, it is worth the drive! read more

I was in the mood for a nice pedicure this past weekend and looked online at reviews for some decent places. I came across the reviews for Magic Nails and decided to give them a shot. As soon as I walked into Magic Nails, I knew my experience would be vastly different than most nail salons I have used in the past. The salon was extremely clean and the staff very friendly. They offer a variety of mani/pedi packages to choose from. The very basic spa pedicure costs $30 but I went for the upgraded pedi at $40. Oh my goodness, I can't rave enough about it! It was by far the most relaxing pedicure I've had in years. My feet were treated to a wonderful exfoliating foot scrub and then a parafin treatment. I went this place for the first time for a mani and pedi based on some of the good reviews and I must say I was very disappointed. This place looks good on the surface but it's not clean or sanitary. Here is my take. Cons: 1) Tools were not sealed in pouch. Woman just poured them out 2) There was dust and fur in the pedicure station drawers and on the product in the drawers 3) Towels were dingy and soiled 4) Pedicurist cleaned dirty tools in my water while my feet were still in the water depositing all my dead skin back in with my "clean" feet Pros: 1) Pedicurist scrubbed my feet very well, better than most places. 2) They take extra steps when using the scrub in your legs. Rinse and repeat. (I got the $50 pedicure with hot stones and something else) Overall, if you can get past the sanitary and cleanliness issues then you may like it. I for one felt very gross in this place. If they cleaned up a lot, used sanitary tools and new towels it would be an amazing place because the workers are good at what they do. read more

Not a good pedicure. My guy was very rushed, did a crappy job filing nails and scrubbing heels. Was a total waste of $40 because I have blue polish on my skin, even though he tried to scrape most of it away with his thumb nail (gross). I should have gone to my normal place Serenity nail spa in downers, instead of this place. They were nice, and I liked the result and price of my mani-pedi. However, I caught my manicurist using a pack of tools that had been opened. I pointed this out, and as they backpedaled, I had to note that and the seal was covered in fibers (indicating it had been opened and closed multiple times). A positive experience isn't worth catching hepatitis. Use clean tools, and don't deceive your customers. read more

As a mani-pedi fiend, I knew that this would be a priority over my Spring Break. I would return to Magic Nails Salon for two reasons: 1) High quality massage chairs - These work "H2T" in the words of Tyra Banks. So many options that I was actually shocked to see that there were even buttons for my bottom half - have not experienced this before! 2) Hot stone therapy as part of the basic mani-pedi package - Another first in my mani-pedi adventures. This turned out to be only for the legs and feet, but that was all that mattered to me since I'm up all day. Other pluses: *Wide selection of nail colors in the popular China Glaze and OPI brands *Decent amount of recent women's interest magazines (look at racks near entrance) *Got a menu of services as soon as I sat down for my pedi, just to be clear Minor minuses: *My particular nail technician did not talk much or ask for my preferences (ie. heat of water) like the other technician had done for my friend next to me. *The mani started to chip within five days. I had a pedicure today. It was supposed to last 30 minutes. The technician gave me like a 50 minute pedicure, foot massage, and lower leg massage. She used warm stones to massage me. Please bear in mind that I am a big guy so massaging my lower legs is hard work. I also have toenails which are thick and hard. The technician worked so hard and patiently on me. She stayed about 40 minutes past closing to work on me. The store is immaculate. The store has massaging chairs to sit in as well. The staff are very polite and friendly. I was impressed by the price. The whole service cost only $40.00. I discovered later that a lot of places will charge $60 or more for the service I received. My wife had the same service done with nail polish,and she only was charged $40.00 and her service lasted about an hour. Please, do yourself a favor and use this place. read more

If I wrote my review after my first time there it would be a five star one but by the fourth time I left for good never to return. The worst part was the guy took of my full set without asking. I thought he found some cracks after four were taken off I started questions. Finally he told me I didn't need them. Isn't that for me to decide? Now I have almost all off. What do I stop there and walk away? Two weeks prior I had a pedicure where the chair leaked all around the area. Made it very slippery. And I saw the lady next to me not clean the bowl other than a short rinse. For the price I did not think it was worth the hot rocks. Maybe there's a lack of training. Prices are high here that was the main reason I didn't come back for a pedicure again. The fills were ok and it fit what I wanted but to not ask me and assume crossed the line. This place is AWESOME!! I'm somewhat of a pedicure conesuir and I've been to several places from the cheap mall locations to fancy spas. This place is absolutely a value for the money. The neutral color tones and relaxed atmosphere make it a place that you can actually relax in. I went at 10 am when they open. I was there about 20 minutes early and they still took me right away. Now we all know that the best part of a pedicure is the massage. Well with your standard pedicure ($30) you get oil on your legs, a hot stone massage, a warm lotion massage and hot towels!!! Are you kidding me! Any spa you go to would charge over $60 for a hot stone foot massage. And they really pay attention and take their time. Now I was not there during a busy time so I don't know how it would be on a weekend, but every person there really took their time and were not rushing anyone. This place is absolutely a value for the money, plus they have OPI nail polish (my favorite). I found a new favorite place! read more

They were better than I thought they would be! Everything everyone raves about is true. It's immaculately clean. All the instruments are sterilized just for you. The polish selection is very large. The decor is lovely. The prices are very reasonable. The staff is friendly and polite; I really liked my nail tech, Jessica, and will ask for her again. What's not to like? I plan to go back in a few weeks, before my vacation, for a mani-pedi from them. I feel confident that they will make my feet look great in sandals! read more

I just had to write a review. I had looked on yelp for great reviews and found Magic Nails rated so high I was sure I was in for a treat. Not so. I did find the staff friendly and the facility and tools clean. The rest was all smoke and mirrors. They make a big show of the "spa" treatment for your pedicure don't be fooled. I asked my nails be cut short as I was going for surgery and knew it would be awhile til I could get to my toes easily. The girl pulled a face and did not cut them short. Then painted over the cuticles. That same night I had to get rid of rough skin patches left on my heels that were not that bad to start with. It is a week later and I still feel that I completely wasted $50 - yes I was going for the gold well done pedicure as I was told I could not drive for a month after surgery. A great pedicure lasts a month A good pedicure lasts 2 weeks A bad pedicure lasts less than a week. That is what I ended up with at Magic Nails Salon. Here comes another positive review. This place is very nice inside for a "walk-in" store. I don't usually go get my eyebrows done at "walk-ins", but I read the reviews and decided I had no choice, since I was going out of town and could not get in at my regular place. What I like about this place is when you walk in, there is a front desk, therefore you cannot see the people behind the wall at the front desk who are getting their manicure and pedicures. This place was amazing...first, let me say, BYOB! Yep, you can bring wine and relax! I had the hot stone pedicure and the deluxe manicure and boy did I feel like I was in heaven! Not one time did I feel like they were rushing me, they were kind, took their time, and did an awesome job! My friends and I did have an appointment and they seemed staffed appropriately for the 5 of us and other patrons that "walked-in", without waiting. It is a beautfiul and clean place too. They don't allow tips on credit cards, but you can tell them to add it in to the price or you can tip in cash...definitely recommend tipping 20% because it is well worth it! Checked Yelp to see where nail salons were in proximity to work. Once I saw the reviews and that it was located on Freedom drive, that was all it took...off I went on my 3 min drive to Magic Nails. We just happened to walk in to Magic Nails because we were in the area having lunch and we all (three of us) wanted to get manis and pedis. I was certain no matter where we went would take a long time. When we walked in we were asked to pick our colors and were immediately given three pedicure chairs right in a row. The pedicures were above average - very attentive with oils, lotions, massages, hot stones and hot towels. As my feet and legs were wrapped he started on my nails. I took my girlfriend and my sister here to get their nails done. The girls were very nice and patient even though we came in an hour before close on a Saturday. They did a really great job. We went to another place before and after a week they started falling off. Her nail job from Magic Nails still looks like she just walked out of the salon a week later. Their prices may be a few dollars (5-10) more then the other nail shops close by but the quality of the work and the comfort of the salon make up for it. read more

This place is a rip off. They charge you more money on a manicure if you have longer nails... I've never heard of any nail salon doing this. Then they have a $3 up charge right now because of COVID-19...again no other salon has done this. I live in the city and my nails are cheaper in CHICAGO then this place. Oh my, my, my, my.... First time here tonight for a Mom's NIght Out. We were able to bring wine and sit back and relax in the wonderful massage chairs while the super friendly technicians set to work on our weary feet. The exfoliating scrub, warm oil massage, and hot stones were pure bliss. We then continued on to the best manicure I've ever received. My nails were shaped beautifully, arms were massaged until soft and smooth as a baby's behind, and a paraffin bath that was positively sublime. The technicians didn't rush us or push extra services. They spent two hours with our group and never made us feel like all they wanted to do was get to the next customer. The facility is very well maintained and the prices are PHENOMENAL! Everything above came in at $60. NOTE: Tips cannot be written on the credit card receipt. I called in advance to make an appointment for a manicure, and they were able to accommodate me when I arrived a little early. The salon was updated and clean, and there were plenty of technicians available. My nail tech was fast and courteous! I decided to use this salon because the rating and the reviews were fabulous. I have done half leg waxing there. The lady was very nice, but it seems like the waxing is not her strong thing... The sap was sooo hot that my legs were boiled-red! After me saying that the sap is too hot, she kept forgetting to make it cooler and kept hurting me. She left many hairs on the legs, so that I had to come home and remove them on my own. She was clumsy. Probably it was not my day.... Overall place seems nice. Many girls were doing pedi there... I've been here before and had a perfectly lovely experience, however my latest visit yesterday left me underwhelmed. As many have mentioned, the salon is clean, the pedi-chairs are awesome, and there are tons of colors to choose from. Yesterday, though, the technician provided a lack-luster massage (as part of my upgraded special spa pedi) and when i got home I realized it was the sloppiest paint job I've ever had the misfortune of paying for. I wish I'd looked before I tipped her. I had bright red paint all over the cuticle and down on the tips of my toes! It all came off in the shower, but seriously? Next time I will try someplace else and if I come back here I will be doing a quality check before I pay & tip! Oh - also you can't put the tip on your credit card. I was recommended this place by a colleague and the first two visits I was pleased . The last two visits I've had and almost $70 later were terrible. I had an overlay done and went in to have a fill and no chip. After I left I was unhappy. All of my nails were different lengths, uneven, some very thick and the polish was not even smooth on all of them. I decided to go back a few days later and pay for a polish change and meanwhile have them evened out. When I went back not even a week later to have them fixed, I ended up with the same nail tech. I explained to him what I wanted fixed and that I wanted a polish change. As he was doing them I was telling him what I wanted, I could tell he was getting frustrated. Halfway through he made it a point to tell me if I'm having a new polish color that I would be charged. Ok?...I didn't come in expecting a free service. I just wanted to be happy with my nails, even if it meant I would pay $25 for a polish change and not even a week earlier when I paid $45 for a fill and no chip that should have been done correctly the first time. He then also asked me where I had them done last.....really?! He was the one that did them! I was so upset when I left I couldn't even believe this nail tech would think my nails were acceptable. There are bumps on the tops on my nails from too much polish and two days later 4 of my nails have cracks through the polish. I am a paying customer and realize this is a business so would never expect free service but I also don't expect an unacceptable job. read more

I took my mother to Magic Nails for pedicures for her birthday. She said it was the best pedicure she ever got. The salon was extremely clean, and the basic pedicure even included hot stone massage. The ladies were very nice, and painted very cute flowers on out big toes. I have been there once before for a manicure, and was happy with that visit as well. Too bad there's no Magic Mike at the Magic Nails Salon! ;) It's the day before my sister's wedding, and I was desperately in need of a manicure. I don't consider going to get a manicure/pedicure a "luxurious experience" the way most women do. In fact, I usually think it's a complete waste of money and time.. I'd rather be on my yoga mat, running on the prairie path, or reading a book.. Just sayin'.. So I called a bunch of nail salons asking if they had an appointment in the next 15 minutes, and everyone said no... Except the Magic Nails Salon! As soon as they said yes, I drove there, boom, got the manicure done.. The nail technician was so efficient; she even asked me to pay prior to putting on the last coat of nail polish! My only regret was that the nail esthetician I had did not speak English well enough so that I could communicate with her and get to know her.. I could only say "thank-you" for all her hard work and machine-like perfection. She even helped me put my purse over my shoulder so that I wouldn't ruin my French manicure.
