I love Magic Nails, I've been coming to this salon for probably 8+ years at this point after being disappointed by other salons in the area. The owners are incredible people, they know me and a lot of other customers by name so you know they appreciate you which I think is really nice. Their color selection is insane, the salon is clean, and the services are great. They keep up with trends (chrome, cat eye) and have talented techs working for them. I feel comfortable getting any and all nails serviced from this salon, I've done regular, no chip, dip, I've gotten chrome toppers, cat eye, tips, you name it and I've never left happy. On the off chance I do crack a nail, they always take me right away and fix it for me no problem. The staff at Magic Nails take pride in their work! I've been seeing Wendy for the last 5-6 years since I've been coming to this salon. She's my go-to for dip manicures and my pedicures. Wendy is extremely talented, I always leave super happy with the sets she does for me. She's also very sweet and she takes her time with you. I came in for an appointment. I was 10 minutes late and then waited another 15 minutes. While this was slightly annoying, the real issue was the attitude of one of the employees. When I complained about the wait, she came over and told me it was my fault for being late. When I asked her to leave it be or I would leave, she told me that was my choice. I called back two days later to speak to the owner about the negative attitude of the employee. Instead of listening, the owner defended the employee and said they do not want my business anymore. Sadly things seemed to go downhill. Dissatisfaction with a manicure once in a while is to be expected but it became repetitive. I probably should have voiced dissatisfaction earlier but I kept getting repaired between manicures and what's most annoying is that I don't have time for that. My dip was way way too thick, piled up on sides of my cuticles, was lumpy and eventually cracked. I loved my manicurist for a while but i don't think she listened, observed or thought about it. I consider myself a good tipper and sometimes I think it can be misleading to leave a good tip when it's not ideal. The place is spotless, sanitary, and friendly. But I came for a dip manicure and eventually became dissatisfied! Here's the rub... how do you stay in a salon and switch to another person without it being awkward? I just went someplace else. Don't do what I did... speak up, complain, and demand more. read more

I never have written a bad review before. I had got a gel pedicure in my hometown last Saturday and I decided shortly after I hated the color. I was in Naperville on Monday (2days later) with some time to kill so I decided to get the polish changed. I picked a color and the lady took off my gel polish and repainted my toes. They looked great. I went to pay and she said $83. I said what? $83 she said. I got no lotion, no scrub no massage nothing. A polish change (granted it was gel polish) and she did some reshaping. It was nice to catch up with my friends here while getting a pedicure. We made sure to set up an appointment for all 3 of us. What did not make any sense is that all three of us had our pedicure done at 3 different times. What was the point of making an appointment? They should have fully communicated with us that it would have been that way. We were all pretty staggered, and it took a while to get out of there because of our non-appointment-appointment. I did not like that whatsoever. My friends had been here before so I was fine with going. But when there, I felt like we were packed like sardines. This was not that quite a relaxing experience, but it was a nice experience to get to talk with my friends. My gel nails and pedi were the sh*t and the staff here, I can't stress this enough, are wonderful. For my pedi I got to zone out in the b-hole massaging chairs (a trend in nail salons these days, I've noticed) while my pedi person went to town silently massaging my legs and my gel nail guy kept me entertained with jokes and funny stories while perfectly sculpting my gellies. I've only gotten pedis at a beauty school (because I'm cheap) but after coming here for a mani-pedi package, I see the advantages of a salon compared to a school. There are rows upon rows of nail colors, although some probably should be tossed out. My technician, although a tad quirky, was very professional, pretty fast and super nice in that she went to get my purse from the lobby after I had forgotten I left it there, and brought over my scarf in the end as well. Don't let the massage chairs freak you out, as they did me. I felt I was getting swallowed up as the sides closed in on me! It massages your butt, and yes, it feels good. My pedicure was way better than the manicure. The hot stone and lotion massage and the hot towel wrap weren't things I was used to before. The disposable flip flops ensured that my just scrubbed and polish feet were slipping into never-been-used slippers. As for my manicure, although applied evenly, did not cover the edges and sides as much as it should have. But I did like that they had wrist rests for the manicure. In the end, the package is a good value but if you're looking for just one service, I'd go with the pedicure. read more

I'll admit it: in the cold Chicago winter, I shamelessly neglect my feet. Well, they're buried in socks and snowboots for six months, and even I'm not spending much time looking at them, so I save my money and do my basic trim and polish jobs at home. However, spring is finally on the horizon, and I'm going on vacation (to a place where I will actually be WEARING SANDALS) besides, so it was time to have my annual inaugural pedicure. My feet felt like groundhogs poking their heads out after winter. And where did I take them? Magic Nails. I'd received (and hung onto) a flier from them in the fall because they were nearby and their website looked nice. As a walk-in on a week-day afternoon I had no problem getting in. The decor is a calming mocha-latte color palette, with cushy black massaging chairs equipped with shiny gold soaking bowls. Service was very gracious, and Kenny did a great job on the pedicure. I will note that their menu is slightly different in person than it is on the web site. I treated myself to the Special Spa Pedicure, which probably couldn't have been more relaxing if it tried. In addition to the typical trimming/cuticle/callous/scrubbing/buffing/general maintenance stuff, I experienced an orange-lemon salt scrub, hot stone massage, paraffin wax dip for my feet, lotion massage and hot towels. I walked out feeling as if I'd been sprinkled with pixie dust. Magic, indeed! My feet are definitely vacation-ready, and I have found a new nail salon to add to the rotation! Magic Nails on Freedom Dr. is the only place I will get my nails done. The facility is clean and relaxing. I get a powder dip manicure when I go and possibly a pedicure. The dip manicure lasts from 3-4 weeks looking as nice as it did the day I got it (except for the grow out). My nails are normally so brittle and I love how sturdy they feel with the dip polish. They actually pour your color and the base powder into an individual dipping cup so there's no worry about dipping your finger in the same powder as other patrons, if that was a concern of yours. The staff is friendly and takes care to make sure everything is done to your liking. Offer a variety of spa like pedicure options too. So relaxing. I've tried other places that were slightly less expensive and I'll just say- you get what you pay for! read more

My first experience here was not great. I had a guy with short spikey hair give me a pedi. He was rather abrupt in his requests for me to either put my foot in the water or remove it. I also noticed that all techs were pushy in getting their customer to upgrade their pedi including mine. I went ahaed and upgraded to the $40 pedi and it was not worth it. My nails were not cut straight. There was so much polish on my skin. He did a terrible job... Probably the worst professional pedi i have ever had. Then he topped it all off by asking me if I had cash for a tip. Really? I would have gone back for a refund but could not as I had to travel out of town. I may try them again only coz they are located in a convenient place for me but i would not let the same tech do my nails. Before my visit, I had bad memories of choking down that awful chemical acrylic smell and hoping that I wouldn't wake up with some rampaging fungus. Guess I've been to one too many bad nail salons in the city. All of that changed once I opened the door. My trip to Magic Nails in Naperville was impressive; so impressive that they get 5 stars. The salon is spotlessly clean, sanitized, and modern. If you enjoy over-sized massage chairs during your pedicure, you'll be right at home. Their staff is friendly, not overly chatty (but enough to make you feel welcomed), and thorough. Hannah took great care of me and was very sweet. Prices for services are quite resonable. Make it a point to read their menu of service. You can get a plethora of great upgrades instead of the basic spa pedi for $30. I opted for their $50 package and had my entire lower legs and feet treated to several masques, scrubs, a parafin treatment, and a hot stone massage beyond the basic maintenance and polish. That service was above and beyond any pedicure I have gotten in a spa! It's been nearly 10 days now since my pedicure and some how, miraculously, my feet still feel smooth. After years of pedicures, I can honestly say this has not happened before. With all this warm weather, I have even tested out spending all day on my feet in sandals. I have no idea what magic transpired during my 75 minutes heavenly pedicure, but it worked to quell years of abuse and neglect. **Bring cash to tip your service technician; they cannot add it onto your charge. read more

My coworker found out we would get out early from work the day before Thanksgiving, and decided to treat ourselves to a nochip mani. I have been complaining about my normal nail place I go to so we decided to try this. I called to make an appointment and we showed up right on time. We were taken back immediately and were given a basket that had all their no-chip colors on a color wheel. There were TONS of colors. I chose my color quickly and my manicurist ( I didn't get her name) began. The manicurist who did my coworkers nails seemed very frustrated that she was taking awhile to choose a color. She put her face in her hands, almost looking like she was about to get sick. I felt bad for her if she was sick, but she rushed through my friends nails, and was done 15 minutes before mine were. There were plenty of other employees standing around, so if she was sick, someone else should have taken over. The two were also speaking in a different language around us, which I absolutely cant stand! It makes it so obvious that they are chatting about us, so it is a bit off putting. My nails looks great but I also paid about $8-$10 more here than I have at other places, so it better look GREAT. Due to the employees behavior, I probably wont be back. You know those nail salons that have carpeting that's about 30 years old, the "leather" pedi chairs are cracked and deteriorating, the stench of nail polish is giving you a high you didn't ask for, and while in it you are not really sure that you appreciate..... This is NOT that salon! I don't think I have ever been in a nail salon with such a nice, clean atmosphere that makes you really happy you walked in. The tile floor, the decoration, the entire everything there makes you feel like you are at a spa. It is WAY nice. Even when they sat you down to give you a pedicure, every person has a new pedi-kit, a sterilized kit, so that germs aren't being spread from person to person. Not just tools that have been rinsed from the person before. Being a person who works in the hospital, I LOVED this! I only got the basic pedicure, which still involved a lower leg massage, with hot stones(by the way, who knew hot stones would feel so nice? Oh wait, they did!). The staff was great and very friendly, and even though I had scary cave-woman legs because I haven't shaved in ten years, the girl doing my pedicure didn't give a rats ass. Which I have no idea why that saying is that saying. Why would anyone want to give a rats ass? And in that case, how did you obtain it? Did you have to cut it off yourself? ..... Uh, my bad, this is what goes in my head. Back to my point. The staff = so great!!! This was by far, the greatest pedicure experience I have experienced. They were very impressive. I live 45 minutes away and think that anytime I get another mani/pedi I will make the drive to make it worth my time. Cause what are these things for anyways? I got my nails done here back in Nov. 2011 to get ready for my engagement photo shoot. It looks nice and new with a lot of pedicure chairs. The service was o.k. and the prices were comparable to other salons the Naperville. Since I only get my nails done at a salon for when I am in weddings, I don't know of many places in the area. So I remembered this place for when my bridesmaids wanted to get together the day before my June 2012 wedding. I made a reservation for me and all the girls a few weeks ahead of time so they could handle a large group. When we got there the service was, once again, nothing spectacular. We all felt really rushed. Nearing the end of our appt. we found out why... There was another bridal party coming in right after us. They brought in champagne, appetizers etc. with them. I was a little disappointed because had I known we could have done this I would have definitely had brought champagne for my bridal party. I know it's not the salon's fault, but I wish when I made the appointment they had told me this was an o.k. thing to do. :( So the reason I gave them 1 star is because my manicurist cut my ring finger (yep my ring finger, the day before my wedding). I was bleeding like a stuck pig all over and then she proceeds to put crazy glue on my finger to stop the bleeding. I was in shock because of the pain and she reacted very quickly. I would have MUCH preferred it to be cleaned and disinfected first!!! Then all these thoughts run through my head... are the utensils REALLY clean? Well, my finger was infected for the next two weeks during the wedding and throughout my honeymoon. I was also not given any discount for my manicure after this. No one from my bridal party, including myself, will ever go back or suggest this place to anyone. Four of my bridesmaids were engaged at this point and have all made appointments at different salons instead of giving this place repeat business for bridal parties.
