I visited Lovely Nails for the first time a couple of weeks ago and got a no-chip pedicure. The polish chipped within a day and a half. I decided not to return. A few days later, I noticed the nail tech had cut my nails in a way that caused them to curve in, leading to infections in both my big toes within a week. I've been in pain since and now need to see a doctor because the infection hasn't subsided. I called the salon to inform them and requested to speak to the manager. The man who answered said the manager was not there and insisted I come in so they could see my toes before I went to the doctor. I explained that I just wanted to inform the manager about what happened to prevent it from happening to others, whether due to poor training or dirty tools, and that I did not want anything in return. I asked him to take my information and have the manager contact me when available. He then said, "OKAY BYE," without taking my info and hung up. I'm writing this review because I'm not sure my concern was or will be conveyed to the business owner, who I hope would want to know about this issue to rectify the problem for future patrons. This is not to be malicious but to warn others that this could happen to you, and you might want to consider a different salon. I've been getting my nails done regularly for years and wanted to find a new salon near my new home. This was my experience. Please don't go here this has gotten so bad. My toes are now bruised underneath my nail and all growing weird. Ps:Edited to show proof I went there and date because they keep deleting my review. (I also got my nails done but that was the a different tech. The one who did my pedicure was a male) Update from DR: it is Paronychia in the medial nail in both toes. This is confirmed to be due to poor practice of the tech. Have to be on antibiotics for 7 days before next check in. Save yourself a DRs visit. Do NOT go here. read more

2nd visit. Wish I could give 4.5 stars because I was very satisfied but there was room for improvement. The place was clean but could use some interior updates to make the place more interesting and welcoming. I came in and the women nearest the front entrance, behind the front counter barely said two words to me. A friendlier greeting would have been nice. The pedicure itself was great. An older gentleman was my technician. He hardly spoke a word to me but that's okay... It gave me a chance to read the latest Star magazine cover to cover. It's the only chance I get to indulge and read trash mags. I like that he asked to use a razor on my heels which I know may not be the best for them... But my heels were jacked! The only thing I can complain about is that he was a bit sloppy on my big toe... Check out pix. The price was very reasonable... considering I got a hot towel treatment and an exfoliating calf/foot scrub. $25. Would recommend. This place is located in a strip mall along Maple ave. I saw someone commented it looks shady...I can see that. Anyways, this place is nothing but. Staff is really nice and warm. Nothing fancy but they do get the job done!! I can see why this place has many great reviews. No-chip mani with pedicure is $60. I love the scrub on my legs and feet. I'm VERY upset with my visit this time. I never get designs, but found something I liked. When I arrived for my appointment I showed the picture of what I wanted and asked if they could do it. I was told yes. I said "are you sure? I can choose something else if you cant its ok." I was again told yes. Low and behold after my base is put on, they can not in fact do the design I wanted. My nails are extremely lumpy and not at all even. The guy who did them didn't really know what I was talking about and didn't seem to know what he was doing at all the entire time. I asked him multiple times to fix the shape and make them even and he didn't. Maybe I got the wrong tech but he seemed like this was his first time ever doing dip nails let alone nails. I went back the next day and got them fixed free of charge and they look so much better now. I get my acrylic nails done every two weeks back at home at a very good nail salon so I know what quality looks like... With that being said, I am not from around this area so I asked one of my friends for nail shop recommendations that are really good with nail art designs. She said they were good at designs so I took her word. I showed several employees the picture of the nails I wanted and they all said okay, that they could do it and had me sit down with an older man. He was very rough when doing my cuticles and made most of them bleed. The shape of my nails were terrible since he barely shaped them up. When getting to the design, it was TERRIBLE! It was nothing like what I asked for and if the staff knew they weren't able to do this design they should have said so instead of scamming me out of money. The polish was chunky and the art he did looked very sloppy. When paying the older gentleman told me it was $32 so I said to charge me $40 and he said "$42, okay," and I then said "no $40" and said four, zero so there would be no confusion. He did not listen to what i said and went ahead and charged me the $42 when the nails should have been free. I will not be returning to this nail salon!! read more

I really have to hand it to these guys. From the outside, this place looks like it'll be a grade-A dive, but once you give them a shot, I'd say they're nothing short of remarkably outstanding. I started coming here for their no-chip manicure, of which they offer the largest color selection that I have EVER seen. There must be damn near 200 no-chip color options and they aren't all just the plain old boring red, pink, and nudes like you see at so many places. I've only come here twice but even so, I feel like the ladies are less like employee and more like good friends who are nice enough to touch my feet. Inside looks like any run-of-the mill suburban strip mall nail salon. It's clean, it's not posh, but it's comfortable and I like it a lot. The worst thing I can say about the place is that the parking lot for this whole strip mall is kind of a crap shoot, but that's not exactly their fault. On my last visit I got a pedicure here and I'll spare you the gory details, but it had been a looong time since my last pedi and in that absence from foot spa-ing I also had a toe injury that cause for pretty gross bruising and nail loss on one of my toes. When I called to make my appointment (which isn't necessary, but I like to call ahead when I'm on my way just to make sure) I felt the need to over-explain my weird toe situation and the girl on the phone and who did my pedicure was super cool about it and made me feel better about it by saying that it wasn't bad at all... which I know was a lie, but whatever. I'll take what I can get. Plus, she did such an amazing job that now my crazy crushed toe looks back to normal now. Yeah for being able to wear sandals again... in 4 months when it maybe gets nice again in Chicago. My no-chips here are basically perfection. Perfect length, perfect color, perfect cuticles, just gorgeous work that lasts and lasts. Prices are on point with what you'd pay anywhere else and in an area with sooo many other nails salons around, I can see no reason to think twice about which one I'll be patronizing. read more

Positive, not even close, the nightmare continues. When I called to schedule, I asked what time they open, 10, I scheduled my appointment for 10. I arrived a few minutes early to find 5 women sitting in the pedicure chairs at various stages of their pedicures. Another woman walked in, who also had a 10 o'clock appointment for a pedicure. We took the last 2 chairs and sat. One woman was actually finished and left, while we sat. The foot water even got cold while I sat. Another woman walked in, sat down, and then finally asked if she had the wrong day for her 10 o'clock. She was told about 15 minutes. Finally at 10:25, my turn. Please, no clippers. This should not be a hard request, it is a nail salon for goodness sake, you should have something other than nail clippers to cut ones nails. Just my luck, I get the one person who doesn't speak English. So, my frustration level is high, I did not get a pedicure. A total waste of my time. read more

I found this place based on the yelp reviews and the price. It turned out to be a relaxing experience. She really spent the time on feet and the best part was that she spoke great English so we could really talk. I have seen so many nail salon workers talking among themselves or switching customers in the middle of the pedicure. I had no clue what they were talking about or why they were switching which made me a bit comfortable. This place gave me a sense of no rushing, relaxing that they take their time on taking care of you. My toes are stilling looking great after two weeks including a few days out on the beach. This shop is on the south-west corner of the Route 53 and Maple intersection, the same side of Mobil gas station but not connect to the station. It is a bit tricky to turn in there during the rush hour. read more

This place is the best I've been to for a pedicure. It's in the creepy strip mall on Maple and 53... the strip mall that has the awesome taqueria, John's BBQ (delicious) and Maple Avenue Pub. The outside isn't impressive, but once you walk in it's just as clean and friendly as any other nail place. They have the Cubs games on when they play (+1 star), and if there's nothing worth watching the huge tropical fish tank is fun to look at. The place is super clean and everyone is so nice- including the clientele. I can strike up conversations with anyone in here at any time. The thing that sets this place apart from the competition is the price. For $25 I get everything I have to pay $35 for at other spas. Salt scrub, dead skin removal, etc... and they do an awesome job. My feet feel so fantastic when I leave here, and I always leave after I've had a random conversation with someone. This is why I love Yelp- found them here and I'm paying it forward by recommending them again. 5 stars. read more

My first time here at Lovely Nails and the staff was amazing. I don't usually get anything fancy for my nails, but one of the stylist really pushed me and I'm glad she did. These gals and guys are really artists. I really love the way it turned out and very surprised at how professional it looks. The place is nothing super fancy, but they have an awesome fish tank, their customer service is beyond my expectation, and they have really cool comfortable chairs. I like this place very much. They always remember the the last trip I took and ask about it. They always fix my bitten curticles. It's between $20-22 for a mani-pedi. But I love the way they take care of my husband's feet- he figured it was "unmanly" to have feet done. But the feet were so bad, I begged him and convinced him that the "cute girls" would set him up and he would be happy. When he comes with me, they soak him extra long time, giggle at his running commentry about that month's Cosmo mag and spend a long time with the razor wokring on his feet. I was greeted with smiles as soon as I walked in, which is always a plus. The salon itself is located in a small strip on Maple, and honestly you probably wouldn't even consider walking in because of its location. But trust me it's so worth it. The salon is very clean. I can be pretty indecisive when it comes to picking out colors for no-chip, because I love trying a new color each time. I actually called and dropped in randomly one friday afternoon. For someone who was physically in the store after calling about 5 minutes before, I was seated right away for a pedicure and no fuss was made about the fact that they were busy and I didn't have an appointment. This place is not a fancy nail place like you would see in an upscale nail salon place in downtown Naperville or something. Let's be real. It looks like a dive. However, the experience is that of an upscale place! For a $25 pedicure, I got a hot towel treatment, knee down exfoliation, moisturizing, heel and bottom of the foot scraping (with a brand new blade - for those of you who think this place isn't sanitary) and a great job cleaning up around my toes. I've already recommended this place to a friend. While I don't get my nails done very often, due to the reasonable price this place has, I'm actually considering stopping by a lot more often!! read more

Worst place I have ever been!! I was only in town for a month so I picked this place at random and based on the reviews. The lady who did my acrylic layover (can't remember her name but older/could be the owner) was grumpy and non communicative the entire time! She sat down and started going at my nails without even asking what I wanted. She seemed like she knew what she was doing so i didn't say much until I realized if I didn't voice what I wanted then she was going to keep my nails as is! Normally the appointment shouldn't have taken long but she put the acrylic on first then started to trim/shape which took about 45min!!!! This could have been avoided if she had trimmed/shaped my nails before adding the acrylic. After leaving I realized my nails were all uneven and different shapes!!! A few crooked ones too. Although they looked good from a far, I couldn't stand looking at my nails up close. So disappointed in this place! read more
