Simply has to do with my preference. I like smooth coffee. The Candied Yams coffee I ordered had too many notes of orange. I'm not a tangy coffee tasting girl. $8 for a small cup. I do like that they don't charge for alternative milk like oat.
I found a BUG in my coffee. That alone completely ruined the drink and made me seriously question the cleanliness and food-handling standards. Finding an insect in something you're actively drinking is disgusting and unacceptable. Unfortunately, the experience left such a bad impression that good service wouldn't have been enough to make up for it. Something like this should never make it into a customer's cup. Whatever positive atmosphere the place may have had was immediately overshadowed by finding a bug in my coffee. It's pretty hard to relax and enjoy a coffee shop after that. I understand that mistakes can happen, but finding a bug in a drink crosses a line for me. I definitely won't be ordering coffee here again.
This place is one of my favorite coffee shops in town! Being near my job and the one that saved me when I can't make it to any other place or make my own coffee at home... this place comes to the rescue! At this point I have tried all of their menu drinks including pastries, but my go to are either their Americano, espresso, and latte. It all depends the mood or what are my needs at that moment; but you can't go wrong with any of their regular drinks like their famous dreamsicle latte or seasonal drinks. I have seen baristas come and go; but everyone that's there is very attentive and amiable. They're so nice that even the new servers would just see you at the window, and ask you if you want your regular. This location is just a window stand though they put a few tables and chairs outside and in the sidewalk. One thing I miss is the green cups with the Mad Lab logo, but lately they're just giving out drinks on white cups. I'll keep coming back for sure! Unfortunately there's only street parking and no restroom onsite.
Always pass by this cute little hole in the wall. I should have gotten the dolly but instead got the chele. It's very weird - didn't realize it has fizzy water which is my bad. It's a weird combo of strawberries, coffee and fizzy water. I wouldn't get a get. I'll try the dolly next time. Guy at window was nice
Really good if you like strong coffee i ordered an almond milk latte pretty good! Very easy to order as well which i liked!
Some good, some bleh. The barista was very nice and made the coffees pretty quickly. There wasn't a lot of seating but we were lucky to get one of the two tables out front. We got the Candied Yams and the the Apple Pie Matcha. The matcha was decent, but the Candied Yams latte was strange. I thought it was ok, but my wife didn't like it. It was a little thicker than I would have liked, but again it had a strange after taste.
My friend wanted to check out a boutique coffee shop while we were roaming Hollywood and ended up here due to the great reviews on yelp. I'm not a coffee connoisseur, I love to drink a simple black iced coffee - but that being said, I don't add anything into my coffee to dilute the actual flavor and I thought it was very good. My friend tried the Dolly Latte and felt it was good but nothing special. I'd actually be curious to try the Sage against the machine one of these days The service was fine. A simple window to place your order and a half a dozen tables to enjoy your coffee on the side walk. the color and design of the building is really cute.
Mad Lab was on my radar for a while, and I finally stopped in. It was solid. I tried the creamsicle latte, which uses vanilla and orange syrup. It was good. The orange was subtle, which I liked. It honestly reminded me more of fruity pebbles milk than a full on creamsicle, and that worked in its favor. The service stood out. Barista was friendly and welcoming, which always makes a place more enjoyable. The drink was balanced, not too sweet, and easy to finish. I would definitely come back.
Cute little coffee shop in midcity. Stopped by on our way to the Harriet Tubman Center, just a few blocks East. The service is friendly and quick. They do not offer vanilla, which was disappointing, but the honey latte was good. The pastries looked great, so I look forward to trying them another time.
4++ A walk up window in Hollywood where you can order some great coffee. This place is perfect for a grab and go pick me up. The service was great. The person was super friendly and was quick to help me. The vibe here is pretty chill because it is just really a place to pick stuff up at least in the afternoon. There are seats outside, but not very many people are sitting out there. Maybe it's a lot busier in the morning. I ordered orange dreamsicle latte. it was done well and it was the great mid afternoon. Pick me up that I was looking for. It's on a busy street in Hollywood so parking could get a little hectic but when I went, there was some street parking very close by. Great spot for a grab and go type situation and probably a great place to meet someone if you want to sit on the sidewalk along a busy street in Hollywood.
Super cute spot on sunset blvd. The girl working the counter was SO sweet, and really made the experience so much better . We got the dolly, really nice simple coffee, just like a regular late, we also got the dreamsicle, which is orange and vanilla- it was interesting.. if you like orange a lot, great. Not my thing.. I wish they had more options that weren't so... odd haha. But that's ok, the quality was there in the options they did have. Coffees were 7$ each Cute spot, I'm glad I tried it , They have cute merch, and pastries here that I didn't try.

There was limited street parking and a few small tables and chairs available outside. Service was alright, nothing memorable, he took our order, made the drinks, and that was it. I wanted something different, so I ordered the cherry pie latte. The cherry syrup or whatever it is they use was tart and bitter. I tasted cherry, but it overpowered the drink. Didn't taste like cherry pie. Tasted more like an underdeveloped squished cherry with a hint of espresso and milk. Ordered the pulp figtion and boy was that a disappointment. Tasted like coffee grinds and old espresso with fig seeds for texture. Yeah, I couldn't taste fig and actually couldn't stand the taste. The name caught my eye, and I liked the design. Other than that, not a fan of this place.
Such an adorable little coffee spot! I see why Mad Lab is so well loved. The cappuccino was amazing. So smooth and creamy and perfectly made. Service was quick, warm, and friendly, and I love the cute walk-up window setup. There's also outdoor seating on the sidewalk that makes it an especially convenient stop if you're out walking your dog or just want to sit outside for a bit. I didn't get a chance to try any of the food or snacks, but the coffee alone was enough to make me want to come back. Such a cute little gem on Sunset! read more

Walked here for a mid afternoon matcha and it did not disappoint. The matcha was very yummy and I love that it comes unsweetened. Service was also very fast. If the weather is nice, this place is perfect. However, just be aware that there is no inside. You just order at a window. There are a few tables outside , but no umbrellas so it was pretty unbearable with the sun. read more

What a cute little hidden gem! This hole-in-the-wall coffee spot totally surprised me. The vibe is cozy and inviting, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. The flavor is in the name. I've never had coffee or any kind of latte with this flavor profile before. I first tried Mad Lab back in 2021 and the customer service was wonderful and so thoughtful! I thought my iced coffee tasted like cranberries!! Today I visited Mad Lab in Mid City with my bf and I tried their iced mocha latte and he tried their iced matcha latte. My mocha tasted incredibleeee and it was not super sweet but it was a right amount. It had depth- it was bold af and tasted like cacao, vanilla bean, and cranberries. It left no aftertaste whatsoever and it was sooo smooth. Can yall tell I'm obsessed?? My bfs matcha tasted spiced like if it had star anise and/or clove and ginger. It had a particular warmth to it that I've never had in an iced matcha!!! read more

I had a wonderful coffee drink here! You can taste the quality in the drinks. I got the Pico Colada with "oat" milk and my partner got the matcha latte. My drink was so delicious! Perfect flavor and not too sweet, which I loathe in an iced coffee. The matcha latte was impressively bright green and flavorful, something I definitely look out for because it's a sign of quality matcha! Some bad news, which knocked the review down a peg -- the woman that took our order had a stale, not very welcoming vibe. But the man making the drinks in the back was vibrant enough to be felt from the order window! I definitely don't care for super performative politeness, but a certain level of welcome I do expect, especially from smaller businesses. Also, I'm not sure if this is always the case but it seems the specialty drinks come hot unless otherwise specified. Because of that hiccup I got mine remade into an iced drink. I think because it got remade they forgot to make it with oat milk instead of the standard cows milk, which kinda bugged me because I didn't feel comfortable going up to the unwelcoming cashier for another remake. Overall, I'll definitely be back because of their quality product and neat set up! And I'll be adding them to the list of coffee shops I keep in heavy rotation. read more

We came to Mad Lab Coffee's walk up window midday to order some drinks before the Hollywood Christmas parade. We hung out at one of the two tops they have set up outside the window. It was nice to listen to the music the shop was playing for a a bit. We ordered 3 drinks- a matcha latte, a dreamsicle and a chele palmer. IMO the chele Palmer was the best of the 3. It was such a unique taste and delicious! I wasn't feeling a creamy drink in the moment but my friends loved the dreamsicle (one of them is a big orange creamsicle fan so he was partial to this one). I'll be back to try other drinks in the future! read more
Cute little coffee stand! We came in nov and they had a selection of seasonal drinks that all sounded delicious! We ended up trying the Store Bought Cookies Latte which tasted like a vanilla latte with a light sprinkling of cinnamon. They said they make a special in-house syrup for it. The latte was super creamy and perfectly sweet! Would love to come back again to try their Dolly latte! read more
Was in the area supporting a friend's event and found Mad Lab for a quick cafecito! Quick service, super cute outdoor setup with umbrellas and tables (only outdoor seating), and the barista was very kind. Mad Lab coffee is a cool little (and I mean little) coffee shop near Hollywood Blvd. I love that they embraced their small square footage and brightly colored storefront by putting it on a sticker. I read up on the Dolly Latte and was intrigued by hazelnut and vanilla flavors so I gave it a try with oat milk. After talking to the barista, the syrup for Dolly Latte isn't in fact hazelnut and vanilla, it just tastes like hazelnut and does have vanilla. I also got a Cortado with a packet of raw sugar made with whole milk. The Cortado was very nice but I screwed up with a entire packet of sugar as it was too sweet (that's on me). I do prefer Cortado made with half and half so it's unfortunate that they didn't have any or any heavy cream to make their own. I thought the espresso was very good in the Dolly Latte and was simply a lightly flavored latte. I did get it half sweet so that means I got half the flavor. I wouldn't want it any sweeter so it is what it is. I actually like to enjoy the espresso so it was great for me. While I wasn't blown away, this IS a great spot to get coffee and I wouldn't hesitate in coming here again. read more
Cute neighborhood spot. My friend had heard or this spot, but for some reason we never saw it til this weekend. We both drive up and down Sunset numerous times, but we only noticed their location on our drive home from doing errands. We flipped a U then decided to drive home instead to go get her dog. We walked over since it was so nice out. A great idea indeed. This place is clearly a neighborhood favorite. There was a crowd when we got there, whilst we waited for our drinks and after we left. We both got the dreamsicle. It was delicious. I'll definitely drop by more often now that I know where they are. read more
