I came out to San Jose to pay my mom a visit; it was an important time since we were looking for a mother-of-the-bride dress for my wedding in a few months. After settling on a dress that she adored, we were unable to find the same one in a size that she wanted. I asked Nilly, the sales associate, if she could check with other stores to see if they would be able to ship one to us.
Nilly called the store in Pleasanton, CA (1300 Stoneridge Mall) to see if a sales associate could help us there. Miranda, the sales associate at Pleasanton, kept on putting her on hold several times while she worked with another customer. Miranda hung up on Nilly in the middle of conversation after we had been waiting for 20 minutes for her assistance. Nilly, being persistent and determined to get the dress we wanted, called Miranda back a second time. Miranda didn't even apologize after Nilly got a hold of her, put Nilly on hold again, and hung up 10 minutes later. Nilly called again and asked that Miranda not hang up on her since she was with a customer (my mom and me) that needed their help. After giving the item number for what seemed like the tenth time (I'm probably not too far off on my guess either), Nilly handed the phone over to me to provide Miranda with my information. After speaking to Miranda for about 20 seconds, Miranda hung up on me (the customer). This was ridiculous.
Nilly called one more time and provided us with a list of other stores that carried the same dress in the size we were looking for. Miranda actually stayed on the phone line to finish her order. It took about 5 minutes to provide the information and finalize the order. It was that simple but yet Miranda could not spend that much time helping us out. Granted, there may have been a number of people in line, but other sales associates could have been there to provide support. It's not that big of a store. And I kid you not, the whole ordeal took an hour.
After we finished our purchase, I walked around the store looking for accessories to go with her new dress. I opened up the e-receipt to find out that Miranda had charged me 4 charity donations without my consent. I did NOT authorize her to do such a thing. I walked back to the dresses and asked Nilly to help me again. Fortunately her manager was there as well and was also disappointed at the situation and had someone else help me out to fix the issue. I am very pleased with how the sales associates at the Fashion Valley Macy's handled the problem and will not be dealing with the Pleasanton store anymore.
All in all, I am very appreciative of Nilly and the Valley Fair team for sticking around and helping us out. And hopefully there are no more sales associates like Miranda that I will encounter at Macy's, because this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't think I'll be coming back for a long while. read more
