The associates here are a pain in the a**. I really want to like Macy's but its very difficult to shop in the fragrance sections without being hassled by sales reps. They are overly aggressive. This Macy's lacks customer service etiquette . From the the customer service rep(young Latino male) in the children's department working to the manager Katherine who refused to come down to speak to me regarding a purchase. Then when I asked the young man her name so I could write a review he played dumb like he didn't know who he had been talking to on the phone. My issue is that customer service and/or addressing the customer directly goes a long way. When another manager (David) was called he was much more customer oriented and you could tell he had more experience in customer service. The young man (his name started with an A) who was working in the children's department around 4:30pm on 5/17 could also use a refresher course in customer service. It's always a bad experience when I come to this Macy's. I'm this close to not shopping at Macy's anymore. Between the new return policy and the wack service, I can't do it anymore. read more

I called this Macy's to ask about a product and it has the worst customer service! I couldn't even get a full sentence out before they would transfer me over and over again. I finally hung up and told them not to transfer me over and asked if they could just search for a product. They said they didn't have it at THAT Macy's so I asked if they could check if another had it and they wouldn't because "they had customers." This review is for Vanessa at Finish Line. Went in to try some shoes I had seen on a different day. She was polite and courteous and brought out the shoes I wanted to try, quite a few if I may add. Each time she did it with a smile, even though it started getting busy. You don't find that too often anymore. Good customer service in many stores are lacking, it's refreshing to be well taken care of. If you're ever at Finish Line look for Vanessa...she'll take good care of you. read more

This is specific ONLY to Jenny at the MAC counter as I find the service at this particular Macy's (and the mall) generally deplorable. I am writing because I found myself in need to go to the South Bay Ghetto...oops!,'Galleria,' to return an item and to my unexpected good fortune a beautiful and knowledgeable gal from the counter helped me out. Not only did she help me with my return, but gave me samples to correct the mistake and made me feel comfortable enough about this counter to come back to this dreadful mall so I don't have to drive to Del Amo to get a few things from MAC. I recently purchased a cooking item at the Redondo Beach Macys that was told to me by the sales clerk that it was eligible for a rebate. After purchasing the item, I mailed all the rebate info asked for and after a few weeks was told I had sent 'inadequate' info regarding the rebate. I logged into a chat room with a Macys rep who proceeded to tell me that the item did not qualify for a rebate. Even after explaining the circumstances of the purchase there was no consideration given. Perhaps a warning to anyone buying at Macys. read more

Looking at the sunglasses hut area of the store and the clerk from a perfume area is looking at me like I'm steal something from across her area and making a sneering face, I'm sorry but instead of looking like a bitch and being judgmental why not offer help?! I had the worst shopping experience at this location. The shoe dept employee & her manager unprofessional & no customer service skills...I had to ask for the manager's manager in which she was listening & professional & went the extra mile to assist me with a return I purchased online. I see why this location only stays in 2star treatment. The 1st manager could have done the same instead of arguing with me making me more frustrated opposed to listening to the issue and resolving it. His manager had to do his job. Disappointed I had to go through 3people to be treated with dignity & respect actually 4 because I called Macy's online customer svc dept. who was great in assisting me while I was in store & to the shoe dept employee all she says is I don't make the rules & rolls eyes...is that how Macy's trained you to treat customers smh. read more

Have tried to like Macy's but it always seems to disappoint with poor service and selection. I guess it's okay for some things but any time I've gone there for men's clothing or a gift for someone there is limited selection of top brands and normal sizes. If i could rate a 0 out of 5 starts for the cosmetics department of this Macy's, I would. Never have I dealt with so much unprofessionalism. I got my makeup done here 3 years ago for my prom & the girl, Kristen (who doesn't work there anymore) gave me undivided attention and did an amazing job. Being so that I had such a great experience, I told my little sister to make an appointment to get her makeup done for her prom. When we first went to set it all up, one of the sellers said, "if the makeup artist has any customers, she has to stop doing your makeup to help them". It was rude; i immediately told her about my experience and how much the store has changed since then and she didn't reply. Nevertheless, we still made the appointment hoping she'd have the same experience or an even greater one. My sister called a few days later to change the time on her appointment; when we showed up today, the girl who had taken the call forgot to write in the new time & the makeup artist was unaware she had an appointment. One of the sellers, Noelle, proceeded to start prepping my sister's face while a makeup artist arrived. She then got super giddy saying she was going to do my sister's makeup & how she was so excited. We were really thrown off by this being that we were Informed a young lady named Tony would be doing her makeup. Noelle started doing my sisters eyeshadow and once she asked my sister if that's how she wanted it, my sister took a look at it & asked if that was the finish look (on her eyeshadow) and Noelle replied with a yes. I was shocked. How are you guys going to hire a girl to work in a cosmetics department that isn't experienced in makeup? I immediately told her I didn't like it so she then asked the artist to please finish off the makeup again in a giddy voice like if everything was okay and not feeling an ounce of guilt whatsoever. The girl had to remove my sister's makeup and took over from there. We had wasted half an hour being there and nothing was done let alone that we were satisfied. It was a very awkward situation. The girl who took over (I am unaware of her name but she has curly hair) tried her best to finish on time yet provide a great makeup look. She apologized for the inconvenience and told us we didn't have to buy the three makeup products because she was embarrassed at how things had taken place. Now, I understand that everyone has to learn somewhere but my sister isn't going to be a "model" on her OWN PROM DAY for someone that doesn't know how to do makeup. When you guys hire, please make sure their experienced because it is really embarrassing. Don't wait till you have a customer to practice on them. Noelle's makeup skills did not show any professionalism in my book. We are appreciative towards the girl who took over and took our inputs and opinions and did her best to make it work. She was great and exchanged apologies. When you're in a situation like this, it is easy to get frustrated on both ends. Props to her! I felt sorry she was dragged on in this situation. We went there confidently but I can assure you that we will NEVER go back to the cosmetics department to get our makeup done. It's ridiculous. It was my sister's day and she had the right to feel beautiful and not stressed out but she was so unsure of herself because of your inexperienced worker and unprofessionalism & it was sad and frustrating to see. I had a better chance of doing my sister's makeup than Noelle did. Again, a big thank you to the girl who took over but to Noelle, the cosmetics department, and the inexperienced workers, get trained please. Management, don't repeat this mistake. I'm already pissed this happened to us, we don't need it to happen to someone else. NEVER AGAIN will we be back. read more

You cannot judge all Macys at once but this store is downright the worst of all Macys I've ever been to when it comes to the store and the staff. Each time I go in there looking for an item I end up heading over to the Nordstrom in the same mall. I think my last experience with Macy's was where I was looking for some 'Art of the Shave' products as I just ran out of shaving cream and needed a quick fix till my shaving supplies shipped in from my normal place, and the 'Gents' in the mens section could not point me to the accessories for men and did not know of any shaving products. I then went to the cologne area where I saw one piece of the item I was looking for but the wrong scent and the associate there never heard of the product she was standing in front of that I ended up pointing out to her. but her response was 'I dont know what this does, but it looks good' I simply laughed with her and said 'I'm way cool Wednesday on what you are selling...but keep up the great work' and I rocked the 5 day growth instead at work. read more

A couple months ago I entered this Macy's through the perfume department, with the intention of purchasing some (not cheap) perfume as a present. I was not greeting upon entrance.
