I was looking for a shoe/sandal to wear to a beach wedding coming up soon and saw that Macy's had a sale. I didn't have high expectations for this location, but figured I'd give them a try since I had about an hour to kill and this store was closest to my next appointment. When I walked into the Women's shoe department, I saw a few items which could work and asked for help finding the mate to a cute Badgley Mischka jeweled sandal that was in their Last Act sale section at 50% off. I showed Selma and another associate a picture of my dress that I'm planning to wear and they made great suggestions. I ended up purchasing the sandal on sale and received a printout of another sandal with locations that had my size. Thanks to both associates for their friendly helpful service! read more

This store is such a joke, you're being stared at like you're about to steal the second I walk in. All the employees look miserable af and management is just so unprofessional. This mall and store is a shell of it's former self. I went into Macy's for something specific, but decided to take a look in women/kids shoes. I notice two employees chatting it up, at first I thought the one with the short hair was a customer because she was standing on the side where customers stand and the other employees was behind the register. I asked if I could get some help, neither one was enthusiastic to help. Customer service ain't what it use to be and I refuse to pay someone to be rude to me. I decided to ask to see if they had m.j y size anyway and the employee with the short hair ended up helping me. She gave me the shoes, but why did she stay and acted like she was working, but really she was watching me. I was so put off and offended, I decided not to buy the shoes. We are losing stores that have been around for decades and i believe it's in part due to the employees lack of customer service, professionalism, common courtesy, and rudeness. It's only a matter of time before this location closes. Personally I don't need to step foot in this one ever and I'll happily take my behind up the street to Del Amo, Manhattan Beach, South Coast Plaze, etc. Macy's do better, no one should have to pay for bad customer service and rudeness ever!!!! read more

This is a review specifically for the Men's cologne section.the customer service is APPALLING. I asked 2 staffs for the price difference of the cologne,and the First Lady replied to me dead in the eyes "I don't know..." like WTF???they couldn't even form a proper sentence to say "let me have somebody else assist you or check that for you."the second person also having an attitude already.No enthusiasm what so ever and when I asked the same thing no response...then she goes, "I don't work here." I'm like what?but your standing in front of me!!!!this whole debacle threw me off big time!!!!!the whole shopping experience made me annoyed and killed the holiday spirit. Andi Rosario was amazing and a God-send. I was rushing to find last-minute Christmas gifts for 15 of my employees and wasn't sure what to get while being cost conscious. Andi not only gave recommendations, but also checked the stock in back to find additional items, and told me about "Backstage." I had no idea it was there; and I was able to find additional gifts that were more personal. He went as far as helping me sort everything out to ensure I had all the items needed and everyone was accounted for. I honestly wish I could have given him a tip. I appreciate great customer service, an excellent customer experience, and feeling valued as a customer. Andi definitely went above and beyond and I truly appreciate him for that. My mom went in to get a birthday gift for her nephew and was offered great help. She struggles to communicate in English but he tried his best to understand her, which doesn't happen a lot. People tend to dismiss her very easily. Overall she was very happy with his help, it seems that a Marc Allen (store manager) was the person helping her. read more

My only complaint with Macy's is that the men's perfume section should have displays so customers can sample the perfumes. It's a waste of time having to ask the employee to smell all the fragrances that you might be interested in, plus not to mention the attitude they get if you don't buy right away or not at all. Macy's just needs to figure out a better way for customers to sample their perfumes without feeling pressured into buying right away. read more

So this is a decrepit looking Macy's. Just old and has an old smell to it (unpleasant). They have some of the floors blocked off with construction looking materials. If they are remodeling, then cool. There aren't any signs stating this and it's less than enjoyable to walk around near these closed off areas. Not many employees around to help. When you find one, you need to address them for them to greet you. Kinda odd but whatever. Restrooms are old and not maintained either. But we figured that much. Honestly, we wondered if they were closing this location down -- it is that in need of some work. We probably wouldn't come back to this location. Only came because they had something on the display floor that nobody else did. I gave it a 2 because the experience was a bit below average. The woman at the Chanel counter snapped at me when I asked what was in the chanel boxes. Upstairs is one cashier to check u out but no other associate working the floor. Funny thing they want to offer credit cards and deliver terrible service. I won't shop here again. read more

I am a loyal customer at Macy's and have been purchasing from this store for years. On 12/8 I came in to purchase some cologne and perfume and was "assisted" by Aisha in the perfume department. I couldn't hear at first when she gave me the total so I politely asked her to repeat the total for me. She looked me up and down, rolled her eyes, and said "Honey, I already told you how much" with an attitude. I said "Okay, can I make a payment on my Macy's card?" To which she abruptly said "No. Go to the jewelry department". I have never experienced such terrible customer service before. However, if I could give 5 stars to Ana and Audrey in the jewelry department as well as Stephanie the manager I would gladly do so. They are very helpful and calmed me down after dealing with Aisha's attitude. read more

I always shop here and pick up my orders from here but beware if your order is incorrect they wont take it back. I received a completely wrong order shoe brand, style and size. i opened it when i got home so i went that week, I explained the situation and the lady said i cant take it back or refund you i asked why if i received it from here she said it has to go back to them "shipping warehouse ". I told her that doesnt make sense they mest up order and its received here and you guys didn't check so both parties mest up my order and it should be fixed here. She said i have to contact customer service and ship it i told her i was and im not paying for the shipping so i practically did their job for them and the lady at customer service didn't understand why they didnt just do it there at the store. Macy's is generally pretty good, it's a classic old school department store, where others like Emporium, May Company, Capwell, and the like has since disappeared and the lower tier of Mervyns and Montgomery Wards have gone away too, there's not a whole lot of department stores, where Macy's serves as a middle layer between the like of JC Penny's, Sears, Kohl's, Target, Wal-Mart on the lower side and Nordstroms & Bloomingdales, on the higher side. This Macy's is a decent location with something for everyone, 'tho watch out... every department register seems to read "customer service" but if you stand in line to do a return of merchandise not in that department, you may be waiting in line for nothing and be referred to the other department... so, be sure if you're returning something, to go to that specific department to process your return. Parking is easy here at the South Bay Galleria Mall too. read more

Not a good time for customer service to be so bad as the economy is not doing well and I would rather shop in a store that will value me as a person who choses to do business with them. Picked up my online order. The service center is located on the first floor near the purse area and the line was not bad. This lady called me and I said I'm picking up the online order. She asked for the bar code. It took me a while to load the page and she was a bit impatient but they found my item right after I showed her my ID. No stress as I avoided Black Friday. This Macy's is less crowded than the one in Del Amo so I always select this location for my online order pick up. The clothes selection may not be as good but it serves the purpose. The customer service was really good in the men's clothes section before but the service center where you pick up the online orders is not so friendly. It's not a great experience but I don't mind that I spend less time just to pick up my stuff and go. South galleria may not be as good as Del Amo but it does have decent major retail stores and chain restaurants. Around Christmas time, they have a Santa Claus booth too. i have enjoyed shopping at macys, but some years ago I opened a small charge account with one purchase, then someone in store stole it and ran it to the limit. I filed a police report when the bill came but Macy's sent it to collections and they called me at work multiple times. Just FYI my credit rating is 850. read more

I understand why Macy's is in trouble. Their products are much pricier than the competition! I saw a watch I really liked and saw the same item online for much cheaper. I inquired if they do price matching. (The same exact watch online was 50% cheaper.) I was told they couldn't match that price for that particular item. Uhm... isn't getting 50% better than getting 0%?! Okay. Saw a nice Lacoste shirt and went online to compare... naturally, I found it for a cheaper price. I wish some department stores had a self checkout option. I say this because my experience at Macy's when looking for some clothes, not one employee greeted me, asked me if I wanted assistance but was sure quick to make sure to ring me up when I was ready to pay. That pretty much about sums up my experience at Macy's last weekend. One employee was parked at the register talking to either a coworker or friend. The topic of conversation was definitely not work related as I could hear them loud and clear. A second employee looked to be only helping those who looked to be buying. At least that's the impression I had. Anyway, I had to sort thru the racks looking for sizes - items weren't sorted by size and in some cases not by brand either. I eventually gave up but found another section near an exit, as I was leaving - that had what I was looking for. I could go on but I'm pretty sure you got the point and or have experienced this yourself. All I have to say is that I wish more people had a better work ethic and took pride in what they did. I've been here several times to size my watches. Yes I have a watch fetish :) Always have had fast prompt service. I do a lot of online shopping so when I do come in to get a watch sized they do require your receipt of purchase. Whether it's the paper receipt or email you do need to show it. Never had a problem here. It's also directly connected to the mall and the food court is just a few steps away. Parking is never a problem. Huge parking lot. read more

Due to the fact that I love the cold, I've been neglecting my winter wear for the past seven years. At long last, the jackets that I've worn sporadically in that time have wasted away. So now I ventured into the galleria, looking for some new jackets. Banana Republic and Express did not have what I wanted, so I came to Macy's. I bought my watch from here, and I bought a previous fling some jewelry for Valentine's Day from here, so I know this place is well stocked. Sure enough, I found the perfect jacket. It was slim, solid colored, and fit me perfectly. When I went to check out, I found out the item had a deep discount. They have a rewards card that they share with drug stores, mobil, and other companies. I signed up for that (eh, why not?), and was on my way. They actually have very good sales right now. I will be back to take advantage as I shop for holiday gifts. I think this year, I will give away something other than gift cards. read more

Shoes on display looked used-gross (see picture). Cosmetic section was unhelpful. Not once did anyone ask if we needed help. In fact, as I was walking past one of the cosmetic aisles with my family, an associate (see picture) who was talking to another associate walked in the middle of the aisle, cutting me off. His fellow associate motioned for him to stop moving in order to allow room for me to pass. As I squeezed through I overhead him say to his fellow associate, "She was in MY way." So, not only unhelpful but also rude. I think they should take a wrecking ball to this Macy's and just put it out of it's misery since I'm not the first (nor the last) who has had a negative experience at this location. Sad. Ever since signing up for a Macy/American Express card they send me coupons all the time which i can never use on the thing i want to buy but luckily this time i was able to use it on a Sean John shirt. I prefer this store over the Del Amo location due to it being more organized and a lot more workers to help. They have a decent selection of clothes (or at least the brands that I like). But that's besides the point, I just want to warn you to not come hear too late. Earlier this week I came in about 7:45p (thinking they closed at 9p like typical department stores). Well, like 5 mins later, I was rushed by some dude "basically" telling me to hurry up, because they closed at 8p. I had a few items in my hand, but I was like, "damn, can I at least try them on?". Of course he said, yes (he knew better). But then he knocked on my door in the dressing room basically telling me, "we're closing right now". I rang my clothes up with him, and tried to walk out the same door I came in (since my car was obviously parked nearby), but that door was already gated, so I had to walk to the other side of the building to exit. I didn't catch the dude's name, but it was like he was ready to go home and eat dinner and I was holding him up (or maybe employees are penalized for working over their scheduled hours, who knows). But this is not a good look for a company that is already hanging on a string. Paying customers should not be rushed out like that. My suggestion is to lock the doors at 8pm, but at least allow 30 minutes for all patrons to vacate. I guess if you come in this Macy's at 7:59, you got 1 minute to get your sh*t together, before employees start hounding you to get out. read more

I came to this Macy's to make an exchange and I had a great experience! I bought a pair of boots online, which I needed to exchange for a different size. Parking - I came on a Monday afternoon, so there was plenty of parking. I would assume that during the weekends there would be still a great amount of parking as well. Service - The service was great! The guy who helped me at the male shoe section was very nice and helpful. He made sure that I could exchange the shoe for a matched price. Nothing to complain about at all. The only thing that I am marking this store down for is the fact that they didn't have the physical boot. I ended up having to order it from the store and had it shipped to my house. read more
