Watch out for false advertising..... came in looking for a gift. I couldn't find what I was looking for so I decided to go look for something for myself... I found a jacket on the clearance rack and the price was marked out with a marker and I couldn't tell what the price was... I took it to the cashiers and they say they couldn't tell me the price and ask me where I got it from. I showed them where I got it from and they even look around to see if there was another one which there wasn't. They said take it to costumer service they'll be able to help you there. When I go to costumer service they tell me the same thing. The lady that was helping me said the jacket was out of season maybe been there for so long .. so they call Julie which seem to be the manager. She said I couldn't buy the jacket because they couldn't sell it to me for the price that was ringing up for.. Julie proceed to say they can do 70 % off of its original price ... I said but the jacket it's already reduce and it was in a 60-70% so why would I pay for a price that the jacket it's not ringing up for.. she went ahead and say well I can't sell it to you for that price . I told that that false advertising because the reduce jacket was already reduced and it was in a clearance rack with a sign stating 60-70 off and there other items that was reduce so is not like the jacket was placed there. She went ahead and say sorry I can't sell it to you for what's ringing up do you want to buy for the price we are giving you yes or no . I said no and left the store... I call the store while I was in the parking lot to speak to a manager they put me on hold and it waited for 10 minutes no one pick up so I decided to hang up. I call again but my calls weren't going through anymore I call from a different phone and my call finally went through. I do not if they block my number but when I asked for the gm they said it was Julie so I do not know if she knew it was me the one calling to report the problems or if the blocked my number . The problem with falling in love with one article of clothing is finding the other items to go along with it. It is not easy. Macy's and I have a history. I've shopped there most of my life, living off the sales racks and feeling pretty good. It's technically my fault that I lost several hours first looking in other stores for a top to match my (salsa dancing) birthday outfit. Yes, I had several birthday outfits. By the time I turned up here, I was exasperated. Monica was awesome. I showed her my skirt (which I'd wisely brought in) and she tracked me down several times with suggested tops. I'd also picked out a few from the sales rack, and was surprised when one worked. I walked out of the dressing room, and Monica seemed pleased. When a customer said it was lovely, Monica mentioned it was for my birthday. I told them how old I was turning; the customer said "you look 18!" You can't pay for that kind of service. I was surprised when this CK top clocked in under $20. "What jewelry will you wear?" Monica asked. I went over to jewelry and asked where the gold sales were. A few minutes later: pow. Necklace found. I came back to the clothes section to check out. Monica approved of the final package. "You will look great." And I did. And that's why they should hire a dozen more Monica's and have the real Monica train all the new ones. Just a thought. read more

My first name is Virginia. Ugh. But today I appreciated that I have this name because Macy's gave out $10 gift cards to all Virginias. The department store is the sponsor of the movie "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus", which can be seen tonight at 7 p.m. on CBS. I looked around Macy's for a long time trying to find something I could spend the $10 on but did not have any luck. There was a cute faux fur vest marked down but the zipper was broken. The jewelry sparkled and twinkled at me but nothing really rocked my world. The gift card must be used by December 31 so perhaps I can find an after Christmas sale item. I thought it wise to add one of my male perspectives to the other reviews. I spent some time with two girlfriends browsing dresses with them, and I picked out a few interesting, unoffensive, and pretty boring things for them, and by the time they tried everything on, each only bought one simple black top at 75% off. While they were in the dressing room, I took a walk through the men's department. There was a killer sale on dress shirt going on, some only 19.99. However, everything they had was so boring. The active wear was frumpily presented on the racks and mannequins. Generally, the whole department was suffering from post holiday rot.. The suit department had some good deals, but again, everything was fairly traditional with nothing too youthful or daring. The younger men's ready-to-wear was all black clothing, again, a good place to go for basics or sale items, but nothing interesting. When I went over to some of the other lux stores, my eyes lit up to the interesting design patterns, stronger colors and enlightened me to the fact that Macy's for men is simply traditional wear and kind of dull. When my girlfriends were ready to check out, each used different cashiers. Each transaction took a little too long because of the the forced narrative the clerks are obligated to narrate: "Will you be using your Macy's card? Would you like to apply for one and get 20% off? You can pay it off all at once... (That one usually peeves me as I do not want sales people making assumptions about how I pay bills.). After all that, it's kind of annoying to experience department stores. So, for now, I will stay away from this one. read more

Macys is such a dump its seriously worse than wal mart. I do not care to pay full retail prices (with bogus coupon promos that include a non-eligible list longer than the brands the store actually sells) and who would enjoy shopping in this kind of mess that looks like a tornado just wiped it out? I am so insulted by this - and yet it is like this day after day, year after year. Macys clearly doesn't hire enough staff - which is why nothing ever gets put away - and one has to hike the entire length of the floor to find one sales person willing to ring you up! Its clear the corporate macys executives dont shop here. I sure wish they would roll in to town unannounced and do something about their image. Here, I took some pictures for your enjoyment today. Macy's is one of the only department store that "gets it". When was the last time you bought something at a department store? Most of us "youngsters" were raised in the "Mall" culture. Orange Julias, Debbie Gibson, Guess, ice skating, acid wash, getting dropped off by your parents, etc. The department store of today (Dillard's, Foley's, JC Penny, Mervin's) don't seem to understand that their flagship customers...... baby boomers and old folks aren't going to be around forever. When they're gone the doors will close......people our "age" just don't shop in department stores. We like malls.... store after store or consumer goods! Nordstrom and Macy's seem to grasp this concept... they both do a great job of providing reasons for the younger generation to enter their stores. Putting "teeny bopper" clothes at the front of the store, selling "hip" clothing, good shoes, and appealing make-up/perfume. So, three cheers for Macy's for being ahead of the curve. I am confident I can continue to visit for years to come. read more

I love Macy's for wardrobe updating and gifting. But this store always has some sort of issue when I shop. When I need something and can't find it or the style I'm looking for, I always get the same answer from an employee. "You should probably visit our larger store's, this is a small store." Really? My wife and I went to Macy's Monday to look at new matrices. We need one. We found out that this store did not carry them and we had to go to Lakeline Mall to see them. Well bummer, the store itself is very clean and highly lighted. My wife goes here to buy clothes every now and then, but this was my first time in a Macy's. Would I go back? I was very pleased with my experience at Macy's. My sister ordered me a North Face jacket online, and after receiving it in the mail I wanted to exchange it for another style. When I arrived to Macy's at the domain, I asked a girl named Ashley that worked in the dresse's dept if the store had North Face jackets to look at. She stated they did not but showed me online where I could find them. Once she helped me find a style I liked, she looked online to see if her store or any near by had any returns of that style. She even went out of her way to call Mayc's at Barton creek which showed they had one to ask them to hold it for me (which they did not end up having one). In the end, she helped me exchange the jacket for one I liked online and was very patient and attentive with helping me make the right purchase. Very pleased! read more

I went in looking for a summer weight blazer, and was shown a black wool jacket. I pointed out it was for an outdoor wedding in August, then the salesman's cell phone rang, and he answered it! Thank god I gave this Macys a chance after a disappointing experience at the Macys Lakeline. The wedding registry department was extremely helpful, walked us through all the coupons, benefits tons of free magazines, told us about upcoming events for registered couples etc! (none of which was done at lakeline mall) I was walked the entire floor and told where items I may most want to register for were located and the advice of the consultant of products and brands as well. Macy's, are you serious? Each Macy's store is its own fiefdom? I bought Levis 510s at the Macy's in the Barton Creek Mall today. I settled for a different color than the color I wanted because they didn't have any more of those in my size. But later, realizing that there was another Macy's in Austin, I decided to make the half-hour drive up the Domain to see what the Macy's, there, had in my size. Guess What: Notwithstanding the large menu of Levis Jeans prominently displayed in the Levis department, with the 510s at the top of the list, I was told that this store did not carry the 510s. Really? So anybody planning to shop at Macy's should call before they come to make sure that you have what they want? Thanks. I'll let my friends know that. Oh, and by the way, trying to call you is useless. So it won't matter if they try to call-ahead, anyway. I called you today to find out if I could exchange the jeans that I bought at the Barton Creek mall for a different pair at the store in the Domain. Well, first-off, there is no extension for general information. Nor for an operator. So there's really no-one to ask. But, after spending some time trying to determine from your telephone menu how I might get an answer to my question, I just decided to push the button for the one of the first departments on the list. After that, I tried a different department. Each time, I asked my question and, each time, I was transferred to what was said to be the extension for general questions. And each time I got the same voice-mail message telling me that I had reached the Executive Offices and suggesting that I leave a message. Twice, that happened. Duh. This store at the Domain always looks pillaged when a sale is going on and better dresses area always disorganized. Handbags, Izod La Coste, and sunglasses kiosk salespeople are always top notch. It feel like a department store in these three store areas. I wish the rest of the store was up to speed. Shoes? Forget about it here if you wear a larger size like an 11. Limited selection, and the buyer must be out of touch. Size 11 shoes always look like they should be worn by an older grandma who likes "sensible shoes" or a drag queen that wants a platform 5 inch heel with some glitter glam thrown on for good measure. There is nothing in between for a women who wants a stylish shoe for work or casual. For larger size shoes and a wide selection of brands, go to Nordstrom's at the Barton Creek Mall. read more

Pros: They had plenty of shoes in size 11. The discounts. Cons: Actually getting those discounts (had to get a credit card and go through hassle after hassle), and all the hoops you have to jump through = very arguably not worth it. A couple of weeks ago I bought two new pairs of shoes, and wanting to save 20%, I got a new card. FORTUNATELY I stayed around to browse a few minutes, which gave me time to realize that the person who checked me out had not applied any discount whatsoever - the whole reason I got the card. I went back up to explain the problem, got it fixed, and was assured that I would have an additional 20% taken off when my statement came in (assumedly due to the hassle). When I got my statement ... there was the 20% discount, twice. Awesome. Then another 7.12 "discount" that was not discounted but added to my total. I called to figure this out, and was told repeatedly that this was because I had exchanged the shoes - something I never did. Sure, at some point, $7.12 less of a discount isn't a big deal, but I was so frustrated when they kept telling me "what had happened" as if they had been there and I had blacked out buying my shoes that I found myself arguing for an hour on the phone, exasperated. (They also tried to tell me that adding $7 to my bill did not go against the definition of "discount"). If the person(s) checking me out had just done my bill properly, it would have saved me that hour of useless phone arguing and frustration. Summary - I won't be returning, because if something else gets messed up on my statement (not a far stretch), I know that there isn't anything to do about it except play a useless game of logical arguments, analogies, and hypotheticals on the phone with someone overseas. And I certainly am not happy that I gave them access to so much of my information. Not worth the discounts. read more

This store has a good clearance section....I got a sportcoat for $7.99 over the weekend...can you believe it? The store is a little smaller than the one here in Galleria IV but it is a respectable size. The staffmember that helped us was nice but a little inept. She was able to help us find an item at another store so, all of her help was greatly appreciated. read more

This Macy's is one of the best I've been to. I probably prefer the one in Barton Creek Square Mall, mostly because the departments I shop most are larger there (Kitchen, Plus-Size, Jewelry), but this one is closer and notably more upscale. My only real complaints (and the reason for 3 stars): One, I was 0 for 2 on finding a working price scanner. I don't mind the clerks helping me scan, but they seem to want a yes/no decision right at the moment on whether I plan to hold onto the item (and i don't shop that way). Two, nobody was exceptionally helpful. If i was ready to pay, they were all nice to me, but while I perused, nobody offered to help. Three, their selection of shower curtains was crap, and not on sale. read more

This is a decent store. I definitely come here from time to time when looking for clothing, but the only thing I've purchased from them so far has been a pretty great coat that I got an awesome deal on. Almost everything in the clothing areas alwaus seems to be on sale. I don't know if it's my timing as a shopper, or something specific about this outlet. There are good deals to be had, like my coat, but most of the clothes don't quite fit my style. At least they carry Fiesta ware! read more

This Macy's is good. It has the best Ralph Lauren selection among all the Austin Macy's. The sales associates, when you can find one, are friendly and helpful. One star was deducted for often having to walk to the opposite side of the store to find a cashier at the station. Another star was deducted for the very limited swimsuit selection. The women's swimsuits are in the juniors section on the first floor. read more

Nothing too crazy here just a regular Macy's. We had bought something online and it didn't fit so we brought it into the store to return. Has great sales when clothes and everything else goes on sale but that's just Macy's in general. The refund was very easy all we did was bring the item back and had the receipt and they gave it back to is no questions asked. Only drawback is you have to go the individual department that the item is from to get the refund but whatever that's not a huge deal. Good prices on everything in general clean store good hours in a nice location. Nothing to brag about but nothing really to complain about either. It's Macy's what else do you really want to say about it. read more

In some bizarre status upheaval, the Dillard's at this mall vastly outshines the Macy's here. Hell, this place makes the late highland mall location look stellar. One day I was browsing the shoes and just saw piles of shoes dumped all over the chairs. If you treat your stock like trash, why would anyone want to buy it? Also why don't you do inventory after hours? The racks are overcrowded and they predominantly carry ugly, ill-fitting tunics from their INC line. There's a lot of fast-fashion and juniors wear, but it's hard to sort through. I've seen nicer Macy's. The only redeeming part of this store is the cosmetics counters. The ladies here are friendly and talented. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I bought a mattress/bed there and they told me it would be delivered by a certain date. This date has been pushed back several times and every time they would tell me it's not coming the day of, or the day before it was scheduled to be delivered. I purchased this bed MONTHS ago, and still have not received it. Not a single employee there has any information or answers to give me. So frustrating. read more

I have no idea what has happened to Macy's. The store has very limited selection now. No sales clerks around to help. They only have a few standing at a customer service area. It's much like Walmart or target, you are on your own picking out your items then stand in a long line to check out. Next to come will be a self checkout. This place is tacky tacky tacky. If this was not enough of an unpleasant experience I HAD to use their restroom! Big mistake!! Someone had thrown up on the floor. They really hate plus size customers at this store. They have them in the farthest corner on the second floor, stuffed into a small area where there is no room to even get between the aisles (even for a wee person) with a very limited selection. I went to Macy's at the Domain on a Saturday. The store was absolutely disgusting. The stained carpet hadn't been cleaned in months if not years. There were discarded plastic hangers, paper, trash thrown on the floor. The bathrooms were dirty filled with overflowing trash cans, discarded wet towels and diarrhea was smeared all over the toilet and floor. You could not find a salesperson in the men's department, the household items department and children's department. The selection was poor and the clothing looked like no one took care tto hand them oN racks. Do not shop at this store. HORRIBLE customer service. I called the store about 15 minutes after they were open, so as not to get someone when they were so busy. Was on hold forever......ended up getting transferred to the operator, who I could not understand, and then the person on spoke with was not helpful at all!!! I have a pair of pants I rec'd as a gift. Tags attached and their 'return lable' attached. The person said she couldn't find it so I can bring them in the store and get a penny for them. A PENNY!!! Department stores. Wow. They are filling an ever diminishing need in our lives, bedding for Thanksgiving weekend is one, yikes. What a mess! The products were dispersed and hard to locate, prices were unclear "originally $400 , TODAY just $40." What???!!! So I finally secured my pillows (firm, soft, down, down alternative, fill, side sleeper, back sleeper, stomach sleeper, memory foam, etc.). I just want a pillow.! Now! Made a selection along with a mattress pad and down comforter with no assistance in sight. Now, where is the checkout? Find one with a line six people deep and a involved checkout procedure run by a senior citizen overwhelmed by the number of checkout steps. On one hand, I applaud hiring the elderly. On another, shame in Macy's for inadequate training and management . No wonder if we have time, we turn to Amazon. Shopping at a department store is really awful. read more
