False Advertising - returns are PAINFUL!
    James K.

When ordering online, I have never had a problem with Macy's and very satisfied with their service. But my instore experience was completely different. A friend had sent me a gift of two shirts for my birthday but they were the wrong size. The shirts were individually wrapped and had Macy's tags on them. However, the package I received did not have a receipt in the package although it did come in a Macy's bag. I went to the floor where they had the same shirts and I picked out two that were the same, but the correct size and was just thinking I could exchange them. I was in the Men's Department and didn't know if they could handle this or if I needed to go to the Returns Department. I asked someone walking around with a Macy's ID and they said I could just exchange here in the Men's Department. When I spoke to the cashier, I told her my entire story; that it was a gift, there was no gift receipt or any receipt and I wanted to exchange for the correct size. Despite telling her all of this, she asked me if I had been charged for these shirts. I again told her they were a gift. Despite me telling her there was NO receipt of any kind in the package, she kept asking me for the receipt. For a minute, I thought this was one of those shows and I was being filmed. I literally told her there was no receipt or any paperwork that came in the packaging and she kept asking me for a receipt. The shirts were in individually sealed wrapping and had Macy's tags but she couldn't help me. I told her someone on the floor told me I could exchange them with this cashier and she wanted to know who the person was. I told her it was a young man but didn't know the name. Similar to the receipt, she kept wanting to know the person's name and I kept telling her I didn't know the person's name. She finally instructed me to go down one floor to the returns department. When I was helped at this desk, I went through the same process all over again. I told them it was a gift, there was NO receipt, and I just wanted to exchange for the proper size. Again, no sooner did I say there was no receipt I was asked for the receipt. Then I was told there was nothing she could do. I told her the person upstairs said to come downstairs and that the return desk had more knowledge about how to look this up. Like the lady upstairs, this person wanted a name. I told her I had no idea but there is only one cashier working the Men's Department so perhaps she would know? I have no idea why I am supposed to know the names of the people who work at Macy's. Finally, they brought over a supervisor. I had to go through the whole story again, and repeatedly asked about the receipt that I must have mentioned no less than 12 times that I never had as nothing came in the packaging. Finally, the supervisor was able to find the information necessary and was able to exchange the shirts. There is a sign right at the counter that says "Easy returns" and under it: "You don't have any proof of purchase: No problem!" Well, clearly it was a HUGE problem so I completely disagree with this advertisement. Again, these shirts had Macy's tags and the package came with absolutely no documentation of any sort, not even a gift receipt. I had to go through four people to get this "No problem" help. With this kind of aggravation, I would avoid this store. Maybe other Macy's are better. Again, online shopping I have never had a problem. If I had stopped at either of the first three people, I never would have resolved this problem. It's a shame that I had to persist in going higher until someone actually would help. In the meantime, the employees gave me looks of annoyance... until the supervisor resolved the issue.

I do not come to the Domain nearly enough. Here, Macy's included, is where I feel like I'm a world away from the busy/aggressive nature of the rest of Austin. This Macy's is a little different from the one in Barton Creek, where their sale items are intentionally marked and very organized. There aren't things flung about the floor as with other Macy's, but the staff isn't particularly warm or happy to be at work it seems. Still, I bought some amazing sandals for $12 on a whim. And customer service was gracious enough to let me return a jewelry piece 8 days past the 30 day return window.

Even on her first day, Emily In the men's department was confident, patient, and made shopping a breeze. I'll definitely be back!

I think the only good thing about this Macy is that I was there early enough to find good parking. Walk in and I'm immediately greeted by what I can only think of as, pounding headache of perfume. They must pump that in through the vents. If you're going to perfume us to death, try not using old lady perfume. Something more pleasant, or better yet, nothing at all. Let's agree no on chemicals. Clearance racks. Just piled on the racks. They have jeans, shorts, tops, skirts all sizes, all types, no organization of sizes. I've been in Salvation Army stores that are better than these 4 clearance racks. The whole bottom floor is women's and makeup, where are your women's lingerie? On the 2nd floor with men's clothing. How does that make any sense? All your women's items are on the 1st floor. Escalator is broken, use the elevator. Go up the elevator and it's men's and housewares. The very back corner is women's lingerie. Awesome. Fit what I'm looking for, but I'd like to try it on first. No fitting rooms. Go all the way back down the elevator, to try them on, and they don't fit. As if I'm going back up across the whole store to the back corner again, to find a larger size. Have a nice day. I'll try Dillards next door. I can't even make this up.

Was given a small box (never received the small bag I ask for).

June 22, at approximately 5:45pm. Basically they treat everyone like a criminal!!! I was upstairs and checked out for a baby shower items, I asked for an additional small bag, she didn't have any. Went downstairs to ask for a small big, the cashier said she had to ask. I was like I already purchased my items. What's the big deal? I understand thieves, but the loyal paying customers shouldn't be treated that way. I went to customer service and spoke with a young manager guy (African American) he was counting money and seemed very detached and disinterested in my offense. I am highly disappointed. (It's just a bag)! This is why I shop more at Kohl's and Neiman Marcus. Macy's might get my money once every other year. After today see in you in 2026!! I'm considering returning my baby shower items!!!

    Blazer I purchased

I got a blazer here, but as I went to go check out, the sales associate manipulated me into signing up for a credit card! I eventually went for the rewards card, which I got, but then deleted. The associate told me that I would get a discount on my purchases, but then proceeded to tell me that my blazer would not get a discount because it was already discounted. So even though she's a good saleswoman, I don't appreciate the deception here. The prices here are extremely expensive and I understand that, for a department store. But even still, the outlet mall or JCPenney's is a better place to shop. The blazer ended up being too large and short (Though this is my fault, not theres), I'll be returning this.

Dropped into Macy's Dept. store trying to find a gift for my 78 year old Father in Law. He loves to smell good for the ladies. It's been a while since I've shopped in Macy's (at least 6 months ago). Since Covid19, things have truly changed up a bit. The fragrance shelves are not stocked or stacked as deeply as they use to be. Looks like the store is being mindful of its product inventory. I was met by Melina, a lovely sales associate. She was very patient with me as I communicated back and forth with my wife on what type of smell good her Dad might like. I must point out, as more customers started to come up to the counter around us, Melina immediately directed other sales associates to tend to their needs. She was "On It". She showed me lots of gift sets, compared prices, checked for discounts, etc... So we chose a scent, "Michael Kors - Bold Back". I received a 15% discount and $10 store credit off my next purchase. Not bad for a days work of shopping. My shopping experience with Melina was amazing. She was the absolute professional, she shared with me a little bit about her self, and I just wanted to hug her. I absolutely love her energy. I will definitely return to shop for more items with her. Thank you Melina for making my experience that today memorable. Michael C.

Pretty good, as far as Macy's in medium-sized cities go. Plenty of selection, and the staff are helpful.

I look at zipper construction, button construction, and inspect the stitching. The three times that I've ended up purchasing items here, the staff here have been extremely helpful in searching for items or looking for specific colors or sizes. I've never witnessed them selling or attempting to sell, as their items are able to sell themselves. Since they are what one might call athleisure, for each clothing type (whether shorts, pants, shirts, jackets, etc), they usually have multiple variants, including those made of different weighted fabrics, offered in a palette of colors. I have found their clothes to be functional (e.g. multiple pockets, including extra zipper pockets) and durable. That said I've only worn their higher weight fabric clothing. They do have a fitting room with several stalls. And the staff working there are more than happy to offer and assist you in retrieving extra items from the store. Checkout is also a breeze; they tend to do electric receipts via email, although print outs are possible. I think their pricing is fair. According to the frequency with which I wear the purchases from here, I seem to be getting good value and utility out of the clothing here. Also, their fabrics are quite comfortable.
