This review was still in my draft bin much to my horror when I realized it. The young ladies will surely laugh when they finally read this (a draft) that I am releasing this evening! Much of Austin and the surrounding areas are missing one of the best homegrown shopping experiences you will ever have. Cotone clothing and Beauty is located with in the Domain. Fashion Forward and Hot,HOt, HOT !!!! The initial phase of the Domain was completed in March 2007. It is managed and owned by Simon Property Group of Indianapolis, Indiana. Sadly it's now the older part (if that's possible) and just a short distance from the new "Northern Territory". Fast Forward-a decade later, I have to believe the reason that this darling shop isn't completely overrun with customers is simply it's location. I just happened upon it while taking a stroll to walk off some lunch. An hour later I left, feeling like it was my lucky day! The customer service was extraordinary, the clothing unique and reasonably priced. The jewelry, handcrafted by local artisans....phenomenal! Shopping without buying is an art I have not mastered, but I believe even if I was the biggest curmudgeon in the world I couldn't have left Cottone without bringing something home. Much of the clothes are purchased in the owner's beloved Italy. Hand picked and brought back to Austin, I was lucky enough to have been introduced by the lovely young ladies who were helping me. Talk about going the extra mile...I was picking out different items to gift my daughters and grand daughter and even requested help with figuring out potential sizes and styles per their varying ages but this posed no problem and her expert guidance ended up working out for all of us. I left with a shopping bag full to the brim and some unique pieces of jewelry too, one of which quickly became a favorite and I wear it every day. I don't want to fail to mention that Alex's wife Jennifer operates the beauty bar located with the boutique. I purchased mascara, lip color and was gifted a lip balm. These are all organic products hand produces by Jennifer. First mascara EVER! (Ps-I'm old as dirt!) That has not made my eyes itch, water, burn etc. It's long lasting when applied and I chose the water proof version. I'm terribly embarrassed that I don't have the info with me to honor the two young women, who so graciously helped me that day.Sadly, but don't have the info with me so will return to this review and update it when I return home. So last but not least-young or young at heart go check out Cottone. You won't regret it! read more

Cotone is a super-cute boutique with clothes made of organic cotton, swimsuits, and jewelry. Many of the shirts are one-size-fits-all, but the bottoms have sizes. In the tradition of most boutiques on the drag, the clothes were mostly a little too small for me, but I did love the jewelry. The owner is really knowledgeable and very charming. He told us that the jewelry was made by local artists, and he chatted with my fiancee while I shopped. Overall, it was a very welcoming place. I'll definitely be going back to try on some of the dresses I keep seeing in the window, and hopefully talk to the nice owner again. read more

I love this store. I used to live at the apartment complex it is a part of and would go just about every payday and buy a new top or dress. Their clothes are good quality and you are going to pay for it. This is not a store priced like Forever 21 but again, the quality and uniqueness of their items is worth the extra money. The owners and sales people are always super friendly and willing to help you if need be and aren't bothersome if you just want to "browse". I have purchases several tops, bottoms, dresses, bags from this store that I always get compliments on and the question "where did you get that (blank)?" Their pieces are usually very unique prints/styles or very simple that you can dress up with accessories. I haven't gone in a few months as I am trying to cut back on my very bad shopping habit but I cannot wait to return! read more

I have run by this boutique several times during my lunch workouts and finally stopped this past Friday evening with my family...I was not disappointed! Alex is very sweet and helpful, not a pushy salesman at all. In fact, he waited for us to approach him. After some very light conversation he told us a little bit about the clothing and Cotone's designers. I purchased a shirt and I am so excited to wear it. The feel and quality of the clothes is great and the style is trendy yet classic; you will be able to wear it across multiple seasons. The prices are also really reasonable. My wife and i stopped in here to look at a couple of dresses and were really impressed with the beautiful clothing and jewelry that they had! The owner, Alex, was there, and he was very helpful. Semi-new store! The store sign wasn't up yet, but it's easy to spot. I love their array of clothing! There's really pretty dresses that are around $40 and I found a really nice pair of black pants that are SO incredibly comfortable! (95% Pima Cotton 5% Spandex) The store manager is really nice and helps you out with clothes and they ship in items every week. A little pricey for college students but I'd say it's worth it! OH. And I love their store decorations. I wanted the dressing room curtains and some of the wooden signs that they have -- CIAO BELLA (in purple!) -- are for sale! read more

I'm torn. I like the name. Cotone means something in Italian, I'm thinking Cotton, I can't possibly be wrong can I? I like the clothing-- it's for girls only but I like what she got. It was solid. I like the person who I assumed owns the shop-- she told me what "La Dolce Vita" meant as I never cared to figure out. But I'm torn over $15. Fifteen freakin' dollars. Can we say commodity fetishism? If you check in on Yelp, you get 15% off (this expired in November) BUT you can buy a $50 Yelp deal for $65 worth of stuff here. The dress was $67. My battery was at 5% and I was tired and maybe mistakenly sensed some hostility toward the deal. Deserves 4 stars. Probably not 5. But to keep in line with how petty I am, 3 for 3.5 stars. read more

Such a cute store! I avoided it for a while, assuming it was another over-priced high end boutique, but thankfully I was wrong! I went in looking for a brown light-weight jacket, didn't find what I was looking for, but scored some other really cute things! The main brand they carry is owned by a friend of the owner's, and is a really soft cotton brand from Italy. I got a shirt for just $27!!! And all of the jewelry is locally made, original, and inexpensive. Got a really beautiful pair of earrings for $15. There are some high end things in the store as well, like their purses. I got a brown suede cross body purse with long fringe for $90, and for the quality I thought it was a great price. The most expensive garmet I saw in the store was a thick knitted jacket for $165. I really love this store, and I'll be making it a routine stop during my shopping sprees! read more

This place is pretty amazing. I went in for the first time this week and am sad I have been missing out for so long! I love how they arranged the store. It's super open, bright and easy to browse through. They have a really great array of basics and fun pieces. Their fabric is super comfy and their prices are definitely reasonable. The owner is a gem. He was involved with the Brandy Melville in Westwood so he really knows his stuff. I like that it carries Brandy Melville along with other brands like Alternative. Definitely give this place a stop if you're in the area. You may be a starving college student but you'll be a super comfortable one. read more

I stopped in here the other day with some girlfriends just to see how expensive this adorable skirt in the window was, and to my surprise it was only $50! This is a very cute little boutique that's in a perfect location for college students. Although, i am well beyond college, I loved the selection of styles they had. I believe they told me that all items are imported from Italy so it's great to have something a little different from the average store in Austin. The prices were super reasonable and the manager of the store was extremely helpful. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's nice to shop some place that's local, small and inviting. I have been to the domain several times and had seen Cotone, it seemed interesting so I decided to go in today and take a look. There was no customer in the store, just one girl who was at the cash counter . I looked around , selected a dress to try on, but then had second thoughts so placed it on a rack and left the store. After a few minutes , I was passing outside this store, when that same girl from the cash counter at Cotone , started chasing me ,accompanied by a cop and when I stopped , she asked if she could check my purse for the dress that I was looking at, I insisted that I left the dress on the rack but she was not ready to budge and was trying to force me into showing her my purse. When we stepped inside the store, the dress was sitting right where I left it, on the rack!!!! This is just the worst experience I have ever had at any store!! I would never ever recommend this store to anyone!! They accuse you of shoplifting without even checking their own store! That girl did not even have the decency to come up to me and apologise for all this! This is just so disrespectful!! I will never step into this store again ! And will make sure I share this experience with my friends and family! read more
