So what do you know? A review with five star? It most be a fake! lol Let me start by saying that less than five minutes after I entered Macy's at Pentagon City Mall I was insulted by a blatant disregard of basic customer service practices such as a simple greeting when approached by a customer (e.g., Hi, how may I help you?, Hi, may I help you find an item?, etc.). When I explained what I wanted some assistance with I was told, "oh, this is not a register". A pause followed as if I was suppose to leave at that point. My silence prompted them to say "I'll have to find a register where I can do that". Long story short, I did not need a register, and I only needed someone to help me get a tag that the Macy's online fairy left on my garment when I ordered from home. But why a five star review? Did you accidentally click the wrong star? Do you know how to count? Do you just like the color red? Let me tell you, no, yes, and no. The reason for my 5 Stars is Store Manager Kahleeq. The man is on point. He is pleasant, empathetic and humbly charismatic. Kahleeq made me feel that I was the most important person that he had the pleasure of meeting today. That alone raised my spirits. Add to that, that, without overselling his assurance to correct the issues, Kahleeq sounded genuinely troubled by what I had to endure. As if he was with me when it happened and felt my disappointment. If you are thinking of Macy's at Pentagon City Mall, think of Kahleeq. If you are going through any issues at Macy's there, ask for Kahleeq. This manager wants you to have a great experience and wants us to see Macy's at Pentagon City Mall as the model for all other stores. Hat's off to you sir. read more

Such a terrible Macy's. I came for a dress for a black tie event. The formal dress section was depressing, unorganized, and the fitting rooms were very cluttered. You can't even find things to buy there. The three dresses I liked: all were ripped at the seams, with literal holes in them, or had deodorant marks all over the dress. I found a dress that fit, but which I hate, and go to checkout. The sales associate didn't even say hello, or ask if I found what I was looking for. Just the token, ignorant "Macy's card?" Even when I'm thinking of using my Macy's card I just use my debit card when they pull that tone with me. Or better yet, use Amex so they pay through the nose on card fees. She told me I'd save more with my card but I have coupon codes all the time. Same discount, thanks. I won't be back to this store. It's just gross and unprofessional. read more

I think Macy's is A-OK. I often check their shoe sales in between seasons and have been known to score some pretty sweet kicks. I've never had a problem with sales associates at this location: they've always been sufficiently nice and accomodating and helped me with whatever I was looking for. Although majority of their makeup, fragrances, skin care counters are staffed by vendors, I have always been able to pick up whatever I needed without hassle. Depending on when you go, this store can go from oh so neat and organized to omg did the Tazmanian Devil come shopping through here because it's a mess. read more

The most rude and unprofessional employees I've ever experienced in my life. I visited macys to exchange a shirt I purchased for my boyfriend online. I went to the mens section (tuxedo dept) I helped my self to find the same shirt in a smaller size. Mind you it's a Saturday afternoon and there were at least 5 employees on the floor standing around chatting amongst themselves. Never offered to help. I then approached the counter to have my exchange completed. The gentleman helping took one look at the shirt and said "Oh this is not resaleable" with out asking me for my receipt or even at this pointe what type of transaction I was even trying do. I asked why is it not resaleable? He just looked at me and said let me get the manager she will tell you. I then just waited for the manager to come her name was Fatima. And when I say she was the most rude and disrespectful person I've ever met in retail management. She approached me and just started telling the policy of the reason my item was not returnable. With out even listening to the situation. I explained I ordered this shirt online and it never stated the shirt could not be returned/exchanged . I explained the shirt was not properly folded because he had to try it on to determine it didn't fit. She said well that's why you would get measured first At this point i was getting upset and insulted. I explained to her the shirt had not been worn and all I'm trying to do is an exchange. She then began to inspect the shirt by looking over it. Sn: this is a plain white botton down dress shirt. She goes look at the collar, under the collar, turned it inside out, and even went as far to smell it. She then goes on to say you need to make sure to order the size you need. Just her over all attitude and body language was just negative. On top of that I was standing there for 20+ mins While other shoppers are just looking to observe the show. ( Embarrassing) So after that she looks at me and ask do you have proof of purchase? I know she was moving extra slow to only irritate me. She just kept on inspecting the shirt as if it had been used. I finally give her my receipt and she say you need to make sure it fits this time because we're not going to help you next time. She finally did the exchange. Never apologizing for her attitude not the treatment and lack of customer service provided to me. I left the store beyond irritated. I'm not for sure if macys is training there employees to treat customer like thier scam artist or thieves. if they are i can assure you your sales will only continue to decline as they have been for the past yrs. I came to Macy's to find the shoes that I needed for my trip to Europe. I had been to the store in Metro Center; however, they did not have my size. The lady at Metro Center told me that sh could not order them online, so she printed me out the list of stores that had the item. Upon looking on the list, I saw that Pentagon City had one pair available. I then drove down to Pentagon City and I actually found the size that I needed. I was extremely excited. When I got to the counter to get the other show, the attendant, Arthur, offered to help me. He came back the first time and told me that he could not find the mate to the shoe. I then told him that the shoe had to be back there as I used to work with shoes, therefore I knew it was not lost. I told him I was determined to find a shoe, as I had drove from Woodbridge, VA in order to get these shoes. Arthur then told me that he looked everywhere where the shoe would be; however, the shoe was not there. I told him that the shoe had to be back there because it could not have disappeared. As a Human Resources manager, I asked him how dedicated he was to customer service and if he would be willing to look everywhere for the shoe as the store was closing and I was the only person in the department at that time; so he had time to do it. He told me that things like this happen and that there was nothing that he can do. I told him to please allow me to speak to a manager because I was not happy with my service and I wanted to do my best not leave the store without the shoe. I told him that I needed a manager because I wanted somebody who was willing to help me to get my items. While I was waiting for the manager to come, I told Arthur that was interested in purchasing another shoe that was listed online. He the. looked up the shoe and told me he could not order it. I told him that they were available online, so I know they were in stock. Instead of trying to help me find the shoe or offering to call corporate, he told me, "oh yes I remember this shoe, it's really old". This flustered me. I then told him I did not care how old the shoe was, I wanted to see if I can get it online as I was interested in the shoe. He told me that the shoe was not available; however, when I look at the computer he was looking at the wrong shoe color. I then showed him the show online and regardless of how old the shoe was, I wanted it. Him telling me the age was inappropriate and unnecessary. After he showed his disdain about getting the shoes that I wanted, I just told him never mind and to just call the manager. Incomes Emily. Emily was extremely pleasant and extremely polite and did everything that she could to help me. Not only did she find the shoes, but she called the corporate office in order to get me the shoe that I wanted online as well. She was amazing. There is a difference between who is fit for management and who is not, and this is the reason why. You have people who are just workers and then you have people who are dedicated to committing high-level customer service. Arthur was extremely terrible and delivering customer service; however, Emily came in and saved the day and made sure that I didn't leave with only one pair shoes, but I left with two. I will never work with Arthur again, but Emily will always have my business read more

STAY AWAY FROM THE CREDIT CARD Went to Macy's, tried to buy 6 items, opened a credit card. One item was missing from my bag. Two and a half years later, still can't get it fixed. After about a year, got them to refund most, but not all, of the cost of the item they had charged me for but not delivered. Getting the late charges and the interest off the Macy's credit card was "not my job" for the manager who managed that. Over two years later, huge ding on my credit for "non-payment" and Macy's still insists that I'm liable for charges for goods I never received. Late last year, I was told by Macy's Credit and Customer Services that because it was not "credit card fraud" I was responsible for the charges. When I protested that I hadn't received the merchandise, I was informed that because I "wanted" to purchase it, they would still charge me -- and I was liable. I'm not aware of any other business that gets to charge you because you "want" to buy something..... read more

This was my Macy's of choice. I had a shoe guy here, purchased all of my cosmetics here, even purchased household items like towels and sheets here. Well let me tell you Yelp!! Back in August I came here two days in a row. Just spending money in Macy's Fashion Centre without any thought, as usual. I was preparing for a trip to Morocco. I went shopping one day then went back the next day to return something. After making an exchange, I noticed a security guy in a red jacket following me around. I didn't think anything of it (I can be clueless sometimes) so I just kept shopping. I went over to the men's section to pick up a bow tie and shirt for my guy. While I was waiting to check out, the security guy and another guy were staring. I smiled. Regret doing that, wish I would've confronted them but I didn't realize what was happening. As I was paying, the security guy was watching and got the cashier involved. The cashier kind of stalled as if he knew something was going on but didn't know for sure. He saw them watching me and didn't want to give me my bag. I grabbed it after a few seconds and walked away. Again, I was very slow to catch on so I started looking at jewelry. Then it clicked - I was being followed in Macy's. I felt embarrassed and humiliated. I wondered how many other people were watching and judging me like that cashier or if customers saw what was happening and judged me as a their. Since then, I haven't stepped foot into a Macy's store. My balance is down to zero. I had a Macy's addiction and just like that, it's gone. Before this happened, I would've rated them three stars. They have s good shoe selection. When it's busy it can be difficult to find help though. I like the short Ethiopian lady that works in the bags section. She's helpful. Usually I can't even find anything in this store I want to buy, but on the rare occasion I do, I get fed up before I can actually make a purchase. I was trying to buy shoes, and asked a salesgirl if I could please get my size. She got the shoes, but then instead of giving them to me she just carried them around with her while she started chatting with another salesperson. After about five minutes I went up and asked for the shoes, and she just glared at me and asked me what I wanted. Warning about staff at parking validation. I went to the Pentagon City specifically to purchase an item from Macy's. The associates in the children's department were kind and so helpful. I went to the second floor to validate my parking ticket and left the store. I got in my car and went to exit the garage but to my surprise my ticket showed I owed $8 (I had only been in the garage for an hour). The parking garage attendant was understanding and informed me that my ticket must have been switched when it was validated. It said I entered the garage at 10am when I actually entered at 4pm. I called the store and spoke with a manager by the name of Ms. Mia who said they'd look into it. read more

This is my first time writing a one stars reviews. I love Macy's and i never had a bad experience until the last few time. I went to Macy's Pentagon City mall to buy a sunglasses. The girl was in the cashier was extremely rude. She was not wearing a name tag but this her number on the receipt #71849250. I asked her to show me the Gucci shades, she said that she doesn't have it and I can see clearly online that they have it in-store. I was trying to get more information about other sunglasses because I was shopping for a gift for my girlfriend but the sales lady was so busy texting on her phone. I ended up picking one, because she was not helpful at all. Even when I paid, instead of handing me the receipt, she drop it in the counter. I honestly really like Macy's. And I love this Mall. So why do I hate this Macy's so much? Frankly, because it does not understand that Macy's is a department store. The Men's department is designed so that you have to spend an hour just to get an overview of what they have. Say, you're looking for a button up shirt because you slept at a friend's house and had an audition and your work clothes had food on them so you wanted to buy a nicer shirt. You have to go to each individual brand's section, look at their stands, compare selections, decide if there is anything you like that might fit, check the price, and then remember it so you can come back if you decide thats the one you want to buy. Then you must go to the next stand. Other Macy's I've been to group the clothes by type and quality. Low end shirts and jeans over here. Slightly higher quality cardigans here. Ghetto fab sweatshirts here. That is an organizational structure I can get behind. The customer service isn't atrocious, which is where it earned the second star. But other than that? As with most Macy's, the customer service here is SEVERELY lacking. I was here for almost half an hour and never once had someone come by to ask if I needed assistance. Also, this store seems to be haphazardly laid out. I like to look at the Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren selections but each of these designers had multiple places that I had to look to find all of their clothes. Large store with a decent selection of goods in all departments - too bad it's in a constant state of complete chaos. Service ranges from poor to nonexistent (particularly in the women's shoes department)! I'm FURIOUS, after shopping at this particular store since it was built, in 1988...actually the entire mall was built on this spot in chelate 80's.......I Have been a Customer of the Macy's store since then. Never have I had the experience that I had today and yesterday. I purchased a pair of sunglasses from the store from a stand represented by the Sunglass Hut. The glasses are defective and upon returning to the store, first without proof of purchase, then later with complete proof, provided by Macys's Customer Service. I was given the complete runaround by a young lady in the department where I purchased the glasses.... UNACCEPTABLE!! And no one can tell you the name of the General Manager of the store... Point is after 28 years of association this store has gone down in service period!!! read more

I am a regular pentagon City Macy's customer. Mostly because it is one of the few places that carries shorter length pants, dresses, etc. for shorter women - the selection is shrinking though - (attention Macy's there are a thousands of women 5'4" and shorter in the DC metro area!) So I found a few things yesterday that were miraculously the right length but I had forgotten the gift card that I wanted to use and since Macy's won't let you pay your Macy's bill with a gift card (attention Macy's this needs to be changed!) I put them on hold. I came back several hours later and no one could find them. I went all over the store searching fitting rooms, etc. At one point a manager got involved and he didn't find them either. I came back this morning hoping that maybe they had been put back on the rack- no such luck. At the point that I was about to give up, Amsale- came to my rescue! She went and found them for me. Amsale - thank you so much. I'm starting a new job and wanted these clothes for my first days at work. You could have just said sorry but you went the extra mile and found them for me. Macy's take note - these are the people you want as managers! Not the ones that shrug their shoulders and offer a discount for my trouble. Beware of Macy's! Caveat Emptor!! Macy's is having a so-called sale, with hundreds of shirts laid out on tables with signs that say "40% off" and "75% off" and so forth. The "sale" is utter bullshit. Don't waste your time or money. Shirts, dozens of them, were neatly stacked right next to the sale signs. But when I took my selections to the register I was told "Oh, that one is not on sale, and that one is not on sale, and that one is not actually on sale." This is dishonesty, incompetence, and gross negligence. I'm finishing up a serious, 75 pound weight-loss effort, and none of my old clothes fit my new body. I need to buy a lot of clothing in the next couple of months, but I will spend my time and money at a store that does not practice such dishonest and foolish customer abuse.
