I remember in the 90s when this store used to be nice. I went yesterday to exchange a POLO warm-up jacket and some Nike shoes and the whole store just seemed kind of....well....sad. First time back there in some years. The whole mall actually. Not very many customers and nobody seemed particularly happy to be there, IMO. Not the asssociates. Not the customers. Nobody. Hard to even find an associate. Malls used to be exciting! I generally find very good deals at this Macys. The customer service I receive in the shoe department is always very good. I often have to look for a sales person to assist me when shopping in the women's clothing department. The prices are very good. I appreciate that Macys and Nordstrom's validate parking. It makes it a lot easier to shop here. I would not shop here if they didn't validate parking. read more

I had a really nice experience shopping in the store this week and in another recent visit about 2 weeks ago. Their cosmetics, skin care, and fragrance area rivals Ulta and Sephora with better promotions (this time there was a 15% off sale) and a lot more room to see everything without the crowds in the other places. Plus, Roe in the cosmetics area provided absolutely exceptional service and helped me find what I was looking for after my flight was unexpectedly delayed overnight and I didn't have access to my luggage. Thank you, Roe! I also enjoyed the extensive inventory throughout the store, which is a nice surprise after seeing so many retail stores cut back on their physical store inventory. This is one of the nicest Macy's I've ever been to, and if you have a little time to dig through the sale racks, you will find some great deals. read more

The service was slow at check out (almost 25mins wait), only 1 cashier working on Sunday, it was so long line queued up. On the thrid floor have some cleqrance sale happening including perfume, jewelry, clothes, bags,...,etc. I found some good deal there, butbit was opened and some gift set have no tester. I don't think I'd buy any perdume with smelling them. There're some shoes much cheaper than online with coupons but not my size but maybe yours. read more

Five star service. We came back to shop in person and was well treated. The associate in the shoes department greeted us, was efficient and knowledgeable, and very helpful. He was just cheery and the good mood was contagious. We got to apply all possible discounts and caught the last day (unknowingly) of their VIP sale. Awesome. read more

This mall is trash. I came in to go to the cosmetics counters. When I arrived at the cosmetics counters, they didn't seem to be too busy however I still find myself waiting extreme amount of time just for someone to assist me. I knew exactly what I wanted. There aren't many Macy's in the area and this one is just outside D.C. in a mall with many other shops. Although very old and with extremely rundown dressing rooms, I appreciate their men's section. It has a wide variety of options with many sales. read more

I'm surprised Macy's at Pentagon City is still in business. When I visit that particular store, there are no customers and no sales people behind the counters working. Where are the sales people? The customers? I did notice two sales women talking with each other. The shoe section had one sales person. The men and women's clothing sections do not indicate brands, sizes, nothing and no body around to help a customer seeking a particular suit, or dress or size. read more

My guess is they are having trouble, keeping or retraining employees. There aren't a lot here. On a plus note, I've found their folks professional and helpful. My apologies for forgetting the lady's name in suits, but her expertise and suggestions were top notch. Unfortunately with quite a few suits sold out, that makes things more difficult. Same for athletic clothing. Yes there was a sale of colognes, but they seemed to be no to little stock on what I was looking for. Thankfully got the last YSL Y EDP Intense. This was priced competitively. Also I've had some luck with dress shoes here. I'm proud of Macys surviving, when a lot of retailers are going out of business. Yet it's my hope they can get more kind and helpful folks here. That would increase it to four stars. read more

I like Macy's and I shop there occasionally. However, recently I visited this particular store and I was taken aback by the women's public restroom, the Starbucks restroom, and was even told the employee restroom is the same. The restrooms are filthy, unsanitary, have a foul order, damaged working facilities, lack of privacy (broken stalls), poor maintenance, infestation, poor maintenance, no toilet tissue, no paper towels, etc., Overall, It left me with an overwhelming feeling of discomfort and disgust making all of their restrooms an uncomfortable place to visit. I can't imagine a mother needing to change her baby. I would strongly recommend you go to Nordstrom as they know how to maintain clean, fresh, welcoming, and refreshing, working and stocked restroom facilities. From the look of the bathroom facilities, it appears to go against their mission statement and doesn't seem that they care about their employees, customers, vendors, and/or stakeholders. read more

K Macy's is awful. No one thinks in that place. I ordered this to pickup in stores and the estimated time to pickup was around 2hrs. That's fine. I go to pickup at the time and they haven't gotten to it yet. Okay so I'll just cancel the order and pickup my items in person. They say I can't in stores and I need to call the 1-800 number. Umm why can't you just cancel there? Whatever I call to cancel they say I can't because the order is currently being processed in stores. I go back to the store associate who told me to call and say they what they told me in the store. She said it's not being processed and she still cant cancel it for me. I literally have the two products in my hand to checkout and they can't simply match the transaction (same exact products to my online order) and let go... I told her by not allowing me do this, everyone is doing double work and wasting time. (1) I will literally make the same exact purchase in stores to my online order, (2) later on when my products are actually being processed and the store associate is out in the store gathering my products and bring them to pickup counter is all for nothing because (3) I will literally call back to cancel and refund my money. So an additional phone call and wasting everyone's time because people in stores can't make a decision or think for themselves to resolve a very common issue, but go this WHOLE process just because "that is their process" -unbelievable, Macy Pentagon City Mall. read more

I was looking everywhere on the receipt for the cashier's name so I can call out how rude she was, but nothing on the receipt...great start. Second of all, she kept on giving me annoyed faces. She asked me for my rewards and I was JUST tryna figure out which phone number to use and she gives me attitude for taking a second longer to answer, like sorry for taking a breath?? Not only that, there were multiple items of the same grey sweater under a deal. The SAME sweater and she was like "well this one isn't marked so, it wasn't supposed to be there" like right the same item, like at least 5 of them, all were in the wrong area... right. I would say this is the cleanest and most organized Macy's in the north Virginia area out of the three that I have been to. It's easy to shop around and find selections according to what you're looking for divided by sections. The associates do come and help you without you asking for them to help you with some people may like or dislike but I appreciate that I was acknowledged as soon as I walked in. read more

This was my first time shopping at this Macy's branch, and it will also be my last. I was looking for blazers and walked all over the women's department for close to two hours. During those two hours, not once did a sales associate approach me or say hello as I walked around looking lost and trying to find the section that I needed. The fitting rooms also looked dirty and disorganized and had piles of clothes in the stalls. This last one is my biggest gripe. When I was in the process of paying for my clothes, the sales associate asked me to enter my email address. Had I not asked why, she would have signed me up for a Macy's rewards account WITHOUT my knowledge or consent! That was pretty sneaky and disingenuous. I don't blame her at all for this, but rather I think the management at Macy's is pressuring their people to get as many customers signed up on their reward programs at all costs, including lying to customers. Instead of asking if you want to join, they just ask for your email without any explanation. Not cool at all! I would have given this experience 1 stars, but I did get what I need from this store. This is a decent size Macys that is fairly well maintained. I've been to this store a few times and the store remains fairly well organized and clean even during the big sale times which is a real feat. They have a pretty good selection of designers and clothing sizes. The shoe department is not as large as some of the other Macys stores but even that department was nice and they actually had someone available to help pull shoes to try on. The staff of this store were all pretty nice and we saw a decent amount of clothing in various styles. read more

I am a lifelong Macy's customer. After my visit to the Pentagon City location in Arlington,VA, I was disappointed and frustrated. I went looking for an Apple Watch and dress clothes for in person meetings at work. I could not find a sales associate in the watch department, so I went to ask the associate in the sunglasses department. The young lady was loudly talking to another co-worker and was clearly irritated when I said, "excuse me, can you help me find the Apple Watches?" She waved me off in the direct of the watches and continued speaking loudly with her co-worker. I was unable to find Apple Watches or bands for the watches. I ultimately found earrings and thankfully a young lady in cosmetics was kind enough to help me by cashing me out. I don't come to Macy's often (read: three times in the past 5 years), but I have popped in here to buy pillows, and on my most recent visit, to check out the luggage selection. I liked the Away carry-on bag that a friend had but wanted to consider other options as well, and luggage is something so personal given how much I travel, so I needed to be able to physically go in and check the pieces out. I'll save y'all the story about which pieces I went back and forth on. I appreciated that the staff didn't side eye me for taking a bunch of bags and unzipping them and placing them side by side to look at the interior storage space. Man's gotta have enough space while making his bag fit in the overhead bin of these little puddle jumpers they're calling planes these days! In the end, I chose a great Ricardo carry-on that has some really helpful features. The gentleman who was helping me was also very collegial and friendly. Got what I needed and the cashier found a coupon for 20% off, which was even better! My previous visits here have been meh from a service and store organization perspective, hence the three stars, but this last visit was redeeming. read more

I was the only customer in the make up area. The Clinique area was deserted. One salesperson was unboxing items and one was chatting with her. A third came to help me. I showed her a picture of what I wanted on my phone and she told me I couldn't sample it. I explained I didn't need to because I knew what I wanted and was indeed showing it to her. She then commenced to search for it. Explaining she was new, she unlocked and searched thru about 15 drawers. Finally she asked the other two. One gave her (and me) a rude look and pointed to the drawer in question. So unpleasant. Why did they send the person who didn't know where anything was when they had no other customers? I really should have just left and gone to Nordstrom's. Next time I won't even try Macy's. read more

We were told we could not continue to shop in the jewelry section of Macy's while looking for wedding bands past 8 pm. The store closes at 9, hours say it closes at 9, but the staff told us we had to leave at 8 pm. When we walked back through the jewelry department, one of the helpful sales associates was assisting a new set of customers. We were surprised to see this happening 40 mins after we were kicked out. When I tried to go towards the jewelry counter while two other people were being helped, I got shooed away. We were ready to spend good money tonight, so are disappointed in the lack of customer service we received. Hopefully Macy's can either update their official hours for customers or remediate the issue in the jewelry department. We have been loyal Macy's customers for more than two decades. I was just in Macys to shop for a light coat. I looked online to see they had an extra 30% friends sale. Online the cost would had been $34.99. So I checked to see who had my color and it was the one at Pentagon city, Virginia. I go and get the coat and take it to the register. The coat price was $69.99! I informed her of the sale price and showed her the picture. She looked at me crazy and said it was $69.99. So I took the coat to another register ..INC...and show her the same thing. She told me that the clerk in the coat area can help me with the price. I informed her that's where I was and she didnt seem to know what she was talking about. So another clerk in same area looked it up and she told me $69.99 after I showed her too the Macy's ad!!! Never again will i shop this Macy's and i will cut my card into pieces. Incredible sale, not great customer service. I'll sum up every review that gave this place 2 stars or less in three words: terrible customer service. Ask yourself before you walk in, do I need to interact with an employee? If the answer is no, proceed, if the answer is yes, think long and hard if you have enough patience and willpower for what could possibly be an aggravating interaction. We wandered in to help a friend find new work clothes. As we meandered around the women's section, we ran into the mothership of sales! Upwards of 70% off dresses, pants, skirts, blazers, you name it, there was a rack of it. These were not daintily placed items, however, these were jam packed racks of clothing. We ransacked the area. Envision three women on a mission to find one women acceptable work clothes. I was impressed by the selection. I had been looking for a blazer for months and couldn't find anything I liked under $150 (and I am not about to pay $150 for a blazer). Here they had structured, trendy blazers for $38! I feel like an infomercial, but seriously, can I say that again? THIRTY-EIGHT DOLLARS. Insanity. After grabbing our weight in clothes, we found the fitting rooms. I'm pretty sure employees generally ignore the fitting rooms, which fits our theme of poor customer service. The discarded clothes rack was bursting at the seams with clothes and every fitting room had items left in them. Even though there are handwritten signs that say 6 items per room, this is almost laughable. There's nobody monitoring that and nobody seems to care either. My friend walked away with a $38 blazer and two tops, each under $20. Success. The women working the cash register seemed like they had better things to do, but it was easy enough to pay and leave. I would definitely come here to browse the sales rack. I would not come if I actually needed help with finding anything. read more

Staff is careless. Ordered a pair of boots online for in-store pick up. When I picked up the shoes I decided to try them on and to my surprise the shoes felt very uncomfortable. I found out that the 2 boots were differently sized and both were right boots. The shoe department was pretty busy when I went downstairs to try to get the correct sized and correct pair of boots, the staff was friendly but definitely was pulled in all directions because it was busy. After a bad experience trying to navigate this store a month ago (which is hard to do when clothes are all over the floor, escalators broken, dj music blaring so you can't hear anything) I needed to return a couple of things that I had shipped to me (so that I could AVOID having to return to this location). I hoped for a quick in and out, but since I was returning to two different departments, I needed to go find the second department when the first (shoes) said they could not take a return for another department. Other problem? Macy's cards are NOT able to be used at this location until they fix their computers. Um..... so in order to get a credit to my Macy's card, I had to give them another credit card, which means I will then have to write a check to Macy's to pay the bill... which would have been ZERO if their system was working. I am never going to this store again. Matter of fact, I am never shopping with Macy's ever again. I went to this location to pick up a pair of Michael Kors shoes. When the shoes were brought out to me they had damage. The salesman said it was due to a water leak. So I tried to look around at other pairs of shoes, but I just didn't see anything else I liked. So I go to the second floor to get my parking validated. Ann at the counter told me that I cannot get it validated without a receipt of at least $5. So I asked to speak to her manager. At first she told me "no". WTF Then when I requested again she told me "well this is our policy but I'll call one for you". Then a guy name Alex comes over and I explain the situation to him. But even still he was not willing to validate my parking. I asked to speak to a manager above him and he told me that he was it. Comes to find out he was lying. I left the store and called to speak to the store manager. The operator told me it was a lady Valerie. She said that Valerie was unavailable but that the Assistant Store Manager was in fact in the store and it was a woman. So it definitely wasn't Alex and he could have called her but didn't. I am very upset that I wasted my time and my money going to this location. Very poor customer service, and the quality of product terrible. Bought Mattress. It came soiled. Appears to be oil spots in bottom and sides. Called Macys' and they scheduled "an inspection " 30 days later. NOt happy. MOved mattress to adjacent room, and bought BRAND NEW MATTRES from Mattress Warehouse. I emailed a demand letter to Macy's with a request expedite the non sensical inspection and to pick up mattress. Requested 10 day response. Five days down, Five to go. Not happy. Have spend over 20k at Macy's over the last 10 years, it appears we are heading for a non amicable solution to the problem. Store is neat during the week, but on weekends it's messy. The service is usually good. You may run into one bad seed, but try not to let them spoil your overall experience. Kudos to Team Diamon & Stephanie. I got over my previous horrible Macy's experience at Wheaton Mall, yet it was refreshing to revert momentarily to it when Diamon & Stephanie in the near by Jr's department gave me red star life. Therefore & in turn, I had give these fresh out of high school looking salespersons a seasoned shout out. 1st up was Dimon, who was in the section to the left after you walk in from the 2nd level, she gave me a friendly hello & how she could assist me. I stated what I needed, she kindly asked if I mind walking to the Jr's section for additional assistance. No, I did not, as she was well mannered & respectful. We met up with Stephanie who was assisting another customer & co-worker, who simultaneously greeted me & gave Diamon some insight & I was good to go. They both asked if I was in need of any other assistance, when I stated not at the time, they extended me a great evening. Regardless of age, all salesperson should take pride in providing good customer service to ensure customers receive a positive shopping experience...no matter how deep your pockets are, money doesn't grow on trees.
