I found some great deals at this location and I was very happy with that, however trying to get help from anybody that worked here was like pulling teeth. I found a hat I wanted locked in a cabinet because it was a pricier item. I saw numerous employees walking around with frowns on their faces and you could tell they did not want to help anyone. I finally found someone that looked halfway happy to be there at work and I asked him if he could open the case for me. He said he was busy, but he would be back. He never returned to help me, but I did see him avoid avoiding me numerous times when he walked back-and-forth to whatever it was, he was supposedly doing. He was definitely avoiding me though. I tried pressing the button on the cabinet and it did not work. I went to a nearby cabinet and pressed that button numerous times and it did seem to be working, but nobody showed up. Somebody walked by that did not seem to be an employee. They were buzzing around the area and I assumed they were a shopper because they made no effort to interact with me even though I was looking for help and I had been standing by that cabinet for at least 10 minutes. I finally saw another employee walking by and I asked them for help and I believe they were a manager because they went over to that person I did not think it was an employee and asked if they could help me. As soon as that manager left the area that employee scolded me for not asking her for help and using the button on the case. Her name was Toya H, according to her name tag and she had a very unfriendly attitude. I was being scolded by an employee for asking a manager for help. I tried to explain to her that I repeatedly pressed that button on the case, and it seemed to be broken, and I even went so far as to press the button on a nearby case and nobody showed up. She basically ignored what I told her. After getting that hat situation taken care of my girlfriend and I eventually made it to the registers with our items we wanted to purchase. There was a fairly long line for that time of day. There were only a few people on register, but there was an employee sitting there at a register using her phone for quite a while and not attempting to help anyone. Not really sure why they were at a register with their light off and playing on their phone, but that's what was happening. The nearby manager didn't seem to care. We got that employee once we got through the line and now she was actually helping people. All she would talk about while helping us was the fact that her 15 minute break was coming up and she couldn't wait to get away. Very unprofessional. We like to hit up these TJ Maxx stores whenever we travel to see what they have in the area that we wouldn't find at home and this is honestly the most unprofessional group of employees have run across any of these stores. read more

Four stars comparing similar stores. I could NOT believe how huge this place was. I visited spur of the moment on a day off coming back from an errand, and found all kinds of randomly good finds. The professional clothing was pretty picked over after the holidays, but otherwise found cute clothes for the kids, some home goods items, some Bobo snacks and a fantastic trash can. (I had to Uber home!) I actually brought my youngest back today to pick out some spa items for a treat 'yo self day. So fun to discover things and not pay full price! Best TJ's in the area. And I've been to almost all of them on the VA side within a 30 mile radius. It's quite large despite the smaller, perfectly Georgetown-esque street level entrance area. Enter through either the street level door and go down one level or through the dedicated parking garage elevator entrance that opens directly onto the lower/main shopping level. From there, it's TJ Maxx shopping at its best. Tons of great clothes, home goods, shoes, bags...all of which are very well organized and beautifully laid out throughout the exposed brick-walled space. Even better: much of their stock is high end designer stuff. Far more than I have ever found elsewhere. It's become one of my favorite Georgetown shopping stops. And there's plenty of competition there, as anyone who has been to Georgetown knows well. Five stars for sure. Nothing else compares really read more

Came here while shopping in the area. This is a runway location so they do have some high-end designer items. This is a location that you could spend a few hours in because there is a huge selection. I would recommend this T.J. Maxx store, except for the jewelry counter. They need to set up a ticket machine. Right now, it's survival of the rudest and most entitled. Most staff members try to wait on customers by the order in which they arrived at the counter and requested service. Sadly, some staff members deliberately ignore customers they promised to help next and unfairly wait on people who arrived later. The people that demand and get preferential service are predictably lighter in complexion. I hope that this situation is alleviated soon. The addition of a ticket machine would give customers equal treatment. read more

Very large TJ Maxx, most of the store is in the lower level and that space is huge and has it all. You can literally find anything you'd need, from clothes for the whole family to luggage to housewares to seasonal merch to personal care. Tons of clearance clothing. The store is also pretty surprisingly well organized so shopping isn't stressful. What makes it mildly stressful is how busy it is and Georgetown attracts a lot of people. Sunday afternoon lines were long but moved quickly and effectively. I spent $23 (I HAD to get that last small St Patrick's Day shirt) and am so proud of how much I restrained myself from going overboard with nonessential essentials! There's a guard at the front entrance to keep an eye on theft and a giant bin for umbrellas to avoid lawsuits from customers slipping and falling. read more

I've never been to a TJ Maxx that had high end designer items! This place had fendi and Gucci stuff. They had a good amount of clothes but the stuff were everywhere and very hard to find things. Someone needs to clean this show room! I got a ankle length dress by max studios. Originally $138, I got it for $29. Super great find!! You just have to dig hard! read more

Although going shopping here is supposed to be a bargain and a peaceful experience is not,is in a basement, using my tote bag or a shopping cart as I shop a lot and I have a foot injury the bags is a not a good idea in the store They charge for the bags unlike other stores in other cities but if you bring your own tote bag and sopping cart is also a problem they make you feel uncomfortable,so you end up leaving.I had a black officer follow me into the store and wait for me before I even each the wall and door of the outside to go into the store,he gave me a look outside as if I was being ridiculous for having cart in a shopping district area.When I went into the store,escalator was broken,I used their elevators but they are very confusing and some lead to some creepy hall, it took forever to go in and exit the store.When I finally reach the area the same office that was in the store alley was in there as if waiting for me,my cart was full already,with my tote bag on top completely close which has my wallet which I keep close to me.As you know there has been teen moving in the stores around town and these offices or security are never around then.The store was a bit clutter I only found 1 thing I needed and came home to open it and it was broken from being bad or just a poor made item.After I went all the way from DuPont and Now I have to go back.Without a cart/reusable bag etc... so I can shop in some kind of peace but then again I will not be able to bring what I need without proper shopping bags or cart so that's that.You loose Uber/bus fare just to get your money bag or half of the returned item.If they need so much security then maybe is not a safe place at all to go even though is in Georgetown.I do not recommended for people in wheel chair,carts,stroller etc... is cramped ,and they do not provide baskets like the other stores for you to put things in safely while shopping or on your lap/cart.They need to relocate for bet accommodations and store storage.If there any other better stores that do not intimidate their customers or scare them away and sell brand new items without damage please let me know.This is the most messy TJMax I have been in the US.It felt more like a Ross which I hardly do avoid because few are well cleaned and organized and it's just to much clutter to go through. read more

I work in the area and l never have had any issues ever. I come in every other day and buy tons of stuff. Today the store coordinator (Anthony) gave me the worst customer experience I've ever gotten. Not only did he not honor a price that was visibly tagged but he also excused me of swapping tags for a product when the entire holiday display was double tagged. It's not a customers job to investigate if the prices are all the same. If that's the first price you see then that's the price you should receive. Anthony was completely combative about it because it was his fault. He admitted to tagging the products but refused to double check the pricing. Anthony then proceeded to remove the tagged price to the price he insisted it should be all while accusing me of switching the tags. He said "customers" switched tags all the time and then brought up his stealing partner and aligned both of those stories to indicate that I was doing the same. That is a mistake on his staff and tagging of the product. There's no actual reason to swap tags because the prices are already so low. Like c'mon. He gave me a poor apology and didn't properly own up to what he actually said. He was racial profiling and accusing me of stealing and didn't admit to anything that he did. Other managers in the same store that I presented this problem to were on my side and the other cashier honored the price WITHOUT fighting me about it. He defended his profiling by claiming it was store policy. Store policy should be to honor the price the customer saw. Not what the employee thinks happened. It's also shouldn't be customer policy to COMBAT the customer on a pricing mistake that was the staff/coordinator's problem. Both managers also said he was unacceptable in the way that he approached the entire situation. read more

Im an avid TJ Maxx shopper. I love to buy the runway collection. I purchased a sweater and worn it once. When I was folding it to put it away I didn't notice it had a hole on it. When I tried to return to the Georgetown store the store manager Vicki Johnson or Williams was so rude. She accused me for putting the hole there and said I couldn't return the sweater. B***h!!!! This is how you treat your customers. I warn you before you buy any runaway collection and before you remove the red tag, make sure your clothing is in satisfactory condition. read more

I don't make it over here very often, but whenever I do, there is always something great to be found in this TJ Maxx. I like that their men's section is more expansive than at other locations, and while sometimes things are kind of out of order, you can generally find stuff. It's also nice that they have smaller sizes because some TJ Maxx seem to start at size XXL and go up from there. They have a really nice home goods section complete with a variety of pillows, kitchen stuff, and everything in between. My favorite stop is the candle area, which has candles that make your apartment smell like a bakery and make you want to run to the nearest cookie shop and eat everything (oh, is that just me? Ok!) There can be a long line here, which is totally unsurprising given that it's the only one nearby, BUT I always find the service to be really speedy and friendly. Sometimes the TJ Maxx near Metro Center is on the struggle bus (they're usually pretty good) but this location is always on point. It's also bright and clean in here, which is more than can be said for some other locations. read more

Love this TJ Maxx for home goods. There used to be an actual HomeGoods inside, but that is now gone. However, their housewares selection is still fantastic. I once Ubered to every location in the city, only to return to this one and buy everything I wanted, as I did not like the selection at the other three. I also like the accessories section here. I prefer the clothes at Friendship Heights. Staff is not the greatest, but that's true for most retail in DC so no surprise. I'll be here when I need a TJ fix. read more

TLDR; poor customer service makes equates to an unpleasant experience. I had an incredibly rude fitting room attendant today. The first time I went in there was no problem. I went back a second time with other times, and I left the first items I wanted in a cart. There were numerous carts in front of the fitting room station, and I didn't want to block the entrance or anyone else's cart, so I moved my cart into an enclave to the side. The attendant was really snippy in asking me what I was doing with my cart, and said absolutely not, my cart had to go with the other carts. Well, GEEZ. Calm now! I was trying to be considerate. There's no reason to get snippy. After I tried on my additional items, I came back out. The attendant was talking to another employee, leaving me standing there waiting. She finally took my numbered tag and the items I didn't want, so then I started to leave. She abruptly made me stop and made a big scene of counting the items I was taking with me, like I was a shoplifter. No one has ever done that before, and I found it extremely rude and insulting. Flash forward to checking out. All cashiers will ask if you're using a TJ Maxx card, or if you'd like to open an account. I politely said no. The cashier persisted and said, "Come on, don't you want to save money today?" I said no again. Don't push me. I already gave you an answer. You need to respect it. I did not have a good experience at this store, and I encourage them to work on their customer service skills. read more

I have not met a bad day that has not been made better without a trip to TJ Maxx. Welcome to my happy place! I will travel miles for a great deal so I am no stranger to TJ Maxxes of both near and far. That being said, the Georgetown location remains king in my mind. It is twice as big, twice as clean, and three times as stocked as any other store you will encounter on your bargaining travels. As Keiko mentioned -- they carry a ton of specialty organic food items that you can find for about a bazillion dollars at fine markets around town. My favorite snack labels to pick up here are the Buddha Bowl Popcorn and I recently found a few bags of Maui Sweet Onion chips which are literally my favorite export from Hawaii! I'm mostly attracted to their houseware sections where you can find everything from copper Moscow Mule cups to those cute little chicken shaped egg spatulas they sell at Bed Bath and Beyond to high-end hand soap for half the price. I always feel fancy when I use my organic lemongrass hand soap that I purchased from here even though it cost me just as much as the liquid Dial you can get at Wal-Mart. Other random but awesome finds: Big Sexy Hair products, super high end curling irons and straighteners, spa products, random pots, pans and baking ware, a vegetti, and travel tubes, vials, packing squares, and bags. Also whenever I lose an iPhone charger (about once a month), I can pick some up here for literally 50% off the sticker price. Furniture here is clutch if you're looking for a fun statement piece and if you get really lucky you can find some cute clothes as well. I'm a Maxxinista for life. read more

I was thrilled when I first discovered that a joint TJ Maxx and HomeGoods store was opening in Georgetown, so there was no way I was going to miss today's grand opening! I arrived a few minutes after the store opened and I was warmly greeted by an employee who offered me a free tote bag. The store was brightly lit and organized with an eclectic music mix playing at a comfortable volume. There was a good number of shoppers in there already, but the store wasn't crowded. My first stop was the bag section. There was a decent selection of bags from various designers such as Cole Haan and London Fog, but I didn't see anything that caught my fancy. I was looking for a wallet and had to go to the opposite side of the store past the Runway (designer section) to check out the selection of wallets. Next, I moved on to clothes. The women's department was easy to find, but the junior section was located on the opposite side close to the fitting room. Not the most logical location and again slim pickings there! Next I moved on to the HomeGoods section, which is in the back of the TJ Maxx area on the ground level of the store. There was a little bit of everything in the aisles, but the offerings were slim compared to what you would see in a dedicated HomeGoods store. The employees were not helpful, but hopefully they got to work as the store filled up during the day with more customers. This store will definitely get a lot of business because of its prime location, but I hope that the owners rearrange the layout so that similar items (ex: handbags and wallets) can be found in the same section of the store. I did score some great bargains on this visit and I made good use of my tote bag, so this was a worthwhile trip! read more

This TJ Maxx is unlike the other TJ Maxx's at which I have shopped- perhaps because they are not just a TJ Maxx, but a TJ Maxx with a Home Goods. Makes sense then that the selection of home items is stupendous. That is the most incredible part of this store. They have brands of non-perishable food items that grace the shelves of local small organic markets and larger groceries. I love the selection of items like raw vegan snacks, gluten free cookies, organic high quality cooking oils, artisanal pasta sauces, tea leaves/ tea bags, coffee, candy, chocolate, sweetness, snack foods (chips), cereals (granola) and spices. It's impressive, and the prices are lower by a fair amount for almost everything! I had not intended to buy any food on my most recent visit, but a few of my new favorite organic small food labels were there, and at a great price! As for the rest of the store, well, it's in Georgetown. This causes it to have a far better selection than other stores, I think because of the location. Also, interestingly enough, as you walk in and exit, the security personnel greet and wish you well. The staff is polite and helpful. The store is less crowded by the racks of clothes and shelves of items compared to other stores. It is also far more organized! I saw several staff members tidying up with great attention to detail - this is so not the norm from my experience at TJ Maxx stores! While what they have to offer tend to be nicer clothing brands of higher designer quality, I do wish that the prices were lower. It actually seems to me that the prices are higher and there are fewer clearance sections compared to other TJ Maxx stores, thus the 4 stars instead of 5. Still, there are some great choices here for formal or casual dresses, work clothes and denim. The skin, hair and body toiletries are a great option here if you have some specific brands that you like or are interested in trying some new ones that maybe you have noticed, but have not purchased, because aside from TJ Maxx, the prices are too high? I regularly buy my favorite brand of organic hair care here because the price is so much lower. I am here every so often, and their selection and prices will keep me coming back. read more

Make no mistake that this was a strategic decision to put a TJ Maxx and HomeGoods in Georgetown for the incoming college students and seasonal tourists. The selection varies week to week and by its nature, finding something is a hit or a miss. Sometimes, I find a good deal on Levi jeans in the clearance section for $10.00, but most of the time I exit the shop empty-handed. The only HomeGoods aisle I visit is the food section and while they have a good selection of olive oils, healthy food, and junk food, I rarely have bought any food from this TJ Maxx location. Bottom line: Good location, but chances of finding something good is next to nil because anything that was worth buying has already been purchased. Shopping has always been good in Georgetown, but now it is going to get crazier with the arrival of TJ Maxx. My wife spied the store the same week it opened and the next thing I know is that we were at the store shopping for good deals! The place was packed, which is not unexpected. This location does have a good selection of stuff to choose from, being in Georgetown. Staff seemed to be trained well and were deftly handling the crowd at checkout counters. It was not the cliche discount store with merchandise over the floor, everything was organized neatly with a much wider selection than I have ever seen before. Another great thing is that all the sales associates are very helpful and pleasant, especially the security guards at the front door. FYI: the checkout on the first floor is usually always line free, so go there, and you're right out of the door! read more

I like this TJ Maxx & HomeGoods store; I am both glad it's not closer and wish it was. There is a large selection of home products which I like to peruse because they have a good variety and are pretty well organized. Shopping for clothes here overwhelms me and requires patience so I usually stick to the home products. On Friday night, there weren't many people shopping so it was a lot easier to maneuver the aisles, but I've been here around the holidays, and this place gets packed! I hope they are not closing for a Forever 21. That would be a shame. read more

I wish this place were here when I was a Georgetown student. Georgetown has lots of great shops and high end brands, which makes the neighborhood very trendy. Let's face it though, as a college student, I couldn't really afford it on my own. If the store were here back then, I would have been able to buy clothes for, say, a decent internship without having to eat ramen for a couple days as a sacrifice. It's much cleaner and more organized that your typical TJ Maxx, though I don't know if that's just because it's newer. It's also smaller than your typical TJ Maxx, but it's still a good chunk of space given that it's Georgetown. I personally like having the more affordable option in city, though I hope no one else worries that it will cheapen the image of Georgetown. read more

Marisa, who is the manager of HomeGoods is awesome. I purchased two vintage-looking wire rolling racks. One had a busted wheel, and Marisa took them with her to hardware stores to see if she could find a match... Shocking, right? I don't think that I've EVER had such amazing customer service from any retail store (not even a luxury department store). I've bought organizers, storage totes, laundry accessories, hangars, simplehuman products, OXO, and the like here for really great prices!!! Definitely worth a look! read more

Great selection in EVERY Department! This is one of the best TJ Max that I've been too! Now I warn you, they DO NOT have a good process for picking up furniture! If it were not for Mr. Vincent, I would have left the furniture piece RIGHT in the store for someone else to get! He deserves ALL the stars! No ONE else, was helpful! From the start of me looking at a table I wanted to purchase, Mr. Vincent immediately went out of his way to get a cart, he took the table to the register and told me the best area to pick it up. The issues occurred when I got to the register to purchase. I explained to them that I had spoken to Mr. Vincent and would follow the instructions given. The ladies at the front were worthless, this also included a supervisor! TJ Maxx, you need to have a team meeting regarding the furniture pick up process, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing! Don't say you were not warned, if you are buying a piece of furniture (table) you should have a better process! Thank you again Mr. Vincent... This review is for the foods section. They have a huge gluten free baked goods and baking mix section. I was able to get both gluten free snickerdoodles and gluten free biscotti. I was debating between 5 baking mixes but decided to just use the ones I have at home first. I was overwhelmed by my options, and obviously being at a discount I wanted to buy everything. I was pleasantly surprised and thanks to this store my GF baked goods intake has increased. :) read more
