I come here just because it's the nearest location to where I live. For some reason the customer service has always been poor. An employee asked me once for my drivers license for a returned item so I handed it over to her, I think she thought it was fake or something but she kept asking me for it, I kept telling her she has it on hand. It wasn't until another employee told her, "that is her driver's license". The cashiers always rude. read more

Out of all of the locations I've been to this location was extremely unorganized and dirty. The shoes looked worn and returned. One pair in particular were dirty and when we asked the coordinator (Juan A) if he were able to reduce them, he declined- so much for quality customer service. read more

Great clothes but nasty bathroom. The bathrooms are NEVER cleaned! I went in there about 5pm and I saw poop on the floor. It was disgusting, I saw other people turned away. I told the manager about my mishap and she said " I don't know why everyone on M street uses our bathroom on a daily basis". I honestly think she didn't care and I doubt she did anything to fix the dirty bathrooms. They have great styling selections thou, I will still visit but will never go use that bathroom. read more

This review is 2-sided/2-parted -- which is why I'm giving it 2 stars (maybe more like 2.5). The store itself is beautiful, and it should be since it just opened. The layout is efficient, and it's easy to find things. They have great clothes, handbags, shoes, all of what you'd expect (and then more). The Home Goods side is great, but it's not as big as most separate-from-TJ-Maxx stores are...it's more like the way TJ Maxx used to be before there was a Home Goods. It doesn't have nearly the selection of home goods as the ones in Kingstowne or Bailey Crossroads. But again, it's Georgetown, so I get it. Ok, part 2. So, there is an upper level (where you enter, actually), that has extra cashiers. I had a large cart full of things, and I saw that the line downstairs was very long, so I remembered there were cashiers upstairs, too. So, I got in the elevator to go up, and I NEVER FOUND MY WAY BACK TO ANY PART OF THE STORE AFTER THAT. I pushed the next floor up, and it was construction -- taped-off construction -- and then I tried to go back to where I came -- no such place. I pushed EVERY SINGLE BUTTON in that elevator, and nothing resembled TJ Maxx. It's like I was in a different building. Needless to say -- and I'm writing this here for management at TJ Maxx -- I easily -- EASILY -- could've stolen everything. I could've taken it right out to my car, on street level, because it was that easy. SO easy! Obviously, I don't steal, so I left my entire cart -- with all its contents -- just sitting in the elevator. I was quite annoyed. I will return if I happen to be in the G-town area. read more

This is the nicest in-town Tj Maxx I've ever been to! I was on M street early this morning, and, after my commitment, I strolled in. I have friends who've shown some home goods from here and remarked on the stores layout and organization so i thought I'd take a peek. It's a small upper level with stationary and luggage leading to the downstairs with the rest of the sections. It was very clean, items were all put away nicely, and the selection was incredible! Not picked over or clothes flung about which can be the usual greeting at some city locations of Tj's, Marshalls, Nordstrom Rack, etc. I found a cute tunic and some tasty snacks. Lots of great bath and beauty products so definitely bookmarking for later. read more

Yesterday I had a bad experience at this store. I felt racially profiled. I have different looks based on my hair style. I am a black latina. Yesterday, I had my curly/afro look. I had a very hard time returning some products WITH receipt. This guy told me that I was only supposed to buy hair products that I have tried before. The coordinator (Peruvian guy) and a cashier told me he was the store manager. Is he? I emailed the main office requesting information. It is not right to discriminate against customers. I have seeing him "accommodating" other customers that don't look like me. Every year I spend thousands of dollars on that store to be mistreated like this. From reading other reviews, this guy needs to be investigated. I will return to the store tomorrow to try to talk to the real manager. Guy at the cashier tried to scam me by asking if i wanted additional discount for a duffel bag i wanted to buy. when i said yes, he asked for my ID then proceeded to make a credit card application on my behalf. of course i was rejected because im a tourist and i dont have credit history in the US! 4.5 stars. Cannot rave enough about the quality of the clothes and Home Goods sections. Wow. This is an upscale TJMaxx. I shop here for everything: beauty products, shoes, leather gloves, scarves, purses, designer clothes, kitchen items, rugs, furniture, pillows, sheets, towels -- everything! Wow just wow! I was very impressed by this location because it is extremely well-organized. It definitely helps with your shopping experience at a discount store since items are usually scattered about with no sort of order. There are greeters as as you walk into the store and downstairs in the main shopping area. I was even more impressed by the beauty section - I cannot begin to tell you how easy it was to navigate this section. This location carries luxury designer brands like Kate Spade, DVF, and Tory Burch. Items are grouped by type and then organized according to size. Newer items are displayed on stand alone racks away from the grouped items. The store is located on the main Georgetown strip so parking can be limited. You can always catch the circulator or metro and then walk a few blocks. There is some furniture in the store, so something to consider is how to transport bigger pieces since there is no parking...unless you are lucky and find street parking right out front. read more

I wish I could put no stars for this store. The lady who claims she's a manager name Toni is the worst. She was really impudent to myself as well as other customers. I will never go there again. Also, I spoke to the manager on duty whom his name was Juan. He was very rude as well. He interrupted me while I was explaining what happen to me, and didn't listen to my concerns. The store is well organised with 2 stories, however there were pretty big disappointments when visiting the men's section. The activewear is pretty non existent and there were no men's shoes in sight, the men's clothing weren't great either (usually a bit hit or miss though). The staff were friendly though and other accessories were plentiful, with a decent hat selection. read more

I was so excited when this TJ Maxx opened in Georgetown. They had a home goods! They had a big off the runway section! Sadly, they've been going a down hill and a recent customer service fail solidified this fact. In the dressing room, the dressing room attendant was extremely rude, condescending, and basically declined to help me. I was extremely offended and taken aback! I've been a TJ Maxx customer at this location since it opened (taking it back to when it was also a Home Goods!) and have never been treated with such disrespect! I spoke to the manager and to his credit, he appeared appalled at the treatment I received from the employee and said he would address the situation. However I would be reticent to return, as there are other locations with better customer service in DC. read more

I really love this store! The homeware selections are awesome!! I could spend all day here. They even have unrefined coconut oil among a million other things. There are always items I want to buy and i usually end up leaving with much more than I came for. I also love the bath and body sections. They offer cool brands that are either normally really expensive or you've never heard of so I can to try everything! The clothing and shoe sections can use some work though. They're always really sparse but everything else is brilliant. Parking is tricky in Georgetown but we seem to get lucky and usually find a spot right outside. I usually don't write reviews but this was literally the worst customer service manager I've ever spoke with. I wanted to return two items that I brought for my sister and was only worn for less than a day and my sister decided she didn't like the style so I returned with receipt and tags. Manager gives me an attitude and tries to embarrass me by loudly saying that they don't accept used clothes but yet takes the dress and not the shoes. I've worked in the customer service industry as well and have never spoken to a client like that. I was not rude nor did I hassle anyone. Truly the most miserable shopping experience ever and that male manager should really learn how to interact with customers in a polite manner. If there was a negative star I would give it. This is the best TJ Maxx ANYWHERE!!! I've even been to most of the TJ Maxx locations in Boston, and this beats NEWBURY ST, which is one of their major headquarter stores!!! It has designer clothes, great staff, amazing clearances, it's big, and the only thing it lacks is Men's footwear wish I really wish they'd do, please!!! This is one of my favorite stores anywhere. Nice people, great selection, amazing prices.....and very very important when shopping with kids or a bladder infection: They have accesible, and very clean bathrooms which don't require a key!!!! read more

The front-door greeter: I expect him every time I go and look forward to his Hellos. The selection: pretty good. I have found great stuff for incredible prices. The runway section is a favorite of mine, too. I don't shop there often but it's nice to have a store that has the selection, especially in a place like georgetown. The store associates: I had to kick off 2 stars because of that. They're rather rambunctious, vulgar, and rude to each other. Not necessarily to the customers but they scream slang to each other in the store and walk around in groups as if they are hanging out during their shift. it made me uncomfortable, to say the least. One time I saw a manager confront a store associate and asked them to straighten out the shoe section. The associate was "sorting" (barely) athletic wear and said "no" and "i need help". The associate was rather unenthused and was asked to go in the back office with the manager. Another time, I had to wait 15 mins to see a ring when I was the only one at the jewelry counter because the associate was talking to her buddy who had stopped by. She was very nice, but still - that's a long wait. I feel like I am being eyed down by some of the associates but I'll continue to shop here since the selection is usually good. read more

Who would have thought that there could be a TJ Maxx/Homegoods in Georgetown. Since the recession in 2008 TJX opened several new stores in expensive areas in and around DC. I really like this store, also because they sell a lot of home furnishings. Just go in and see if you'll find a deal. Because of the location, I think the selection of merchandise is slightly better and more exclusive than in most of their stores. Happy bargain hunting! read more

This was my all time favorite store in Washington, D.C. When I moved to the city three years ago, I did most of my decorating and housing needs from this store. I made weekly trips to stroll through the expansive home goods collection, and always left with an amazing purchase. I cannot possibly express my disappoint that the homegoods has been removed from this store. I haven't purchased anything here in months, and every time I visit now I am angry that they took away what was once a lovely, useful, practical store in the middle of the city for what, an expanded clothing section? That's subpar anyways? I sincerely believe the company made a massive mistake in removing homegoods and I can only hope it returns someday soon to the city. read more

I keep visiting this branch of tj maxx once in a while to shop for clothes. They have a much better collection than the sort of run down one in pg plaza mall. Georgetown is a beautiful neighborhood and there are lots of big brands on M street which is a heaven for shopaholics. Since I discovered RUNWAY, I have become quite the "Maxxinista"- visiting every such store within a 60 mile radius of anywhere I go, AND I HAVE NEVER heard of or EXPERIENCED THIS CALIBER a TJ/HG until Georgetown. Gives Neimans a run for (my) money! Employees are knowledgeable, competent, willing, and all seem very HAPPY to help. This store is very organized and SO clean! They even SWEEP each dressing room between inhabitants. Great inventory. Cheerful, good feeling in the air. Jaw-droppping prices, especially in the runway section. I was there for the Grand Opening morning and was AMAZED at the professionalism with which each employee (I witnessed) handled the standing-room-only crowd. Smiling faces, helpful, genuinely interested associates, quick-moving lines, immaculately clean and perfectly organized inventory on shelves. Even the restroom was spotless. It takes quite a bit to wow me, but I have to hand it to the manager (Sharon T.) of this new Georgetown TJ Maxx & HomeGoods store. Where did she find this fantastic staff? She may just be THAT GOOD a leader /trainer. Whatever the case, THIS PLACE IS IN SHIP SHAPE. No need to make "new store" allowances for this class act! Well worth the drive from Leesburg! As an avid Home Goods lover and someone who recently moved, I was SO excited about the opening of this location, and finally had a chance to check it out last weekend. While the store itself is beautiful, I was absolutely appalled at the behavior of the Home Goods staff when we were browsing the aisles. One of the male associates was unacceptably rude as we were browsing the aisles, and he and three or four other employees stood around laughing about his poor customer service as we walked away. After leaving the store empty-handed and with a bad taste in my mouth, I attempted to call the store to put a rug that I loved on hold so that I could pick it up the next evening. I was put on hold for 8 minutes after a TJ Maxx employee attempted to transfer me to Home Goods, then another associate picked up, asked if she could help, and said "Sorry, I need to transfer you to Home Goods". When I explained that I had already been on hold for a Home Goods associate, she said, "Sorry, I can't help you" and placed me back on hold. Because I REALLY loved that rug, I sat on hold for another 18 minutes before finally hanging up. I'll continue to shop at other Home Goods in the area, but I will certainly avoid this location, and I'd encourage any other customers to do the same. Having worked in the service industry for many years, I try to be as respectful a customer as possible, but even I have my limits. Customer service this bad is a total turnoff. read more

I am a very loyal TJ MAXX shopper. I am from the Hampton Roads /Tidewater area. I recently shopped in the Jefferson Ave, Newport News, VA store. I was very disappointed when I had been told by one manager that yes, I could receive a discount on a pair of boots that had flaws, while the cashier was implementing the discount, another manager, SHEENA grabbed the boots, walked over to me and said I can give ONE DOLLAR OFF. Are you kidding me, seriously. Don't insult me! After being told yes a discount to the first mark down was going to happen., I did not find the manager to be customer friendly. Sheena needs to be retrained and re assigned. I won't return to this store . A very disgruntled shopper. read more

This TJ Maxx used to be combined with a HomeGoods that had an awesome selection of housewares, but they recently expanded the store and simultaneously did away with the HomeGoods portion of it, so since March 2016, it has been an ordinary TJ Maxx with a very small housewares department. I used to buy almost all of my housewares at this store, but now there is very little there, not much in the way of food items, cookware, etc. There are still a lot of clothes, including things that are a little higher end than you often find in TJ Maxx, but you should disregard all of the older reviews talking about the great selection of housewares, because that's no longer the case. Unfortunately, this neighborhood already had a lot of inexpensive clothes, but not a lot of inexpensive housewares, so this HomeGoods will be sorely missed, and there's really nothing to replace it! read more

I went to Georgetown for one reason; to go to HomeGoods (HG). Of course I never made it to the grand opening (last year) when I saw the advertisements displayed on the buses, but eventually my time was coming. I've been to several HGs throughout MD and VA, but this is DC's HG and it's all about location....c'mon we're talking Georgetown! Okay I'm there and I fall in love with this place no matter the location; it's like a fashion outlet store for your house and the things you need or rather want. You know when you want to buy that certain dress or pair of shoes, and know exactly where you're going to get it like Steve Madden or BCBG - that was my frame of mind going to HG in Georgetown. So I'm in HG and seeing all the colors of nice pillows, linens, towels, etc., and I wish I could decorate my house all over again (however not just yet). Thank goodness I just needed or rather wanted a few items like some colorful/scented candles, liquid hand soaps for the bathrooms, and anything else that looked interesting! Some may think HG is pricey and others like myself may find the prices in between, and it really depends on what you like or looking for. Sure I could've went elsewhere for what I needed....Dollar Tree, I'm a fan too. But where else can you go and walk two isles past the pillows and throws and find yourself in TJ Maxx (oh yeah they're neighbors!), and be within arm's reach of some high-end designer clothes! This was my first time going to this location and while I was impressed with the layout and cleanliness I was appalled by the customer service. I went first thing to avoid lines and return and item and when I tried to get the attention from one of the four employees I was ignored. When I finally flagged someone down I asked him twice if he needed my credit card to make the return and he ignored me. He very clearly had an attitude and made me feel so incredibly unwelcome that after I managed to get my return done ten minutes later due to mistakes on his part I left and plan to never come back to this location. read more

Made an exchange yesterday. Swapped the exact same pairs of shorts for different sizes. Supposedly "credited" my card and recharged. I found out last night that although the "recharge" goes through right away, my credit won't be issued for "3-5 business days". This is RIDICULOUS. In this day and age, a credit to a card should never take more than 24 hours maximum. My card doesn't even show a "pending" credit. Disappointed and irritated! Love the store but this is unacceptable. read more
