Big Lots has been my go-to when looking for random household items. The store is usually in a bit of a mess, but it's not so bad that you can't find what you're looking for. The prices are also not listen on all the shelves, so that's a little annoying. On my last visit I found the cutest little charcuterie board for $10. Finds like this make the disorder more bearable for sure. read more

This Big Lots is a Hidden Gem. Initially, I was a little hesitant to head over there after the Alexandria store closed. But, this store is bigger and better. The layout is different. It has all of the furniture and patio furniture from closed Big Lots in Alexandria. Lots of furniture. Last year in May, the Alexander is store sold out of patio sets. I rely on Big Lots for inexpensive paper towels, toilet paper, soap, pet supplies and food, coffee, and weird items. They have a great toy selection, too. You have to dig but it's there. The store is well organized and pretty clean. I've been in some Big Lots where things are on the floor and the shelves are messy. The staff was very helpful. The cashier in early May added another coupon to the one that I brought. Great customer service. I drove out to the Waldorf store once. It was okay but the parking lot was kind of sketchy. The shopping center is right off the Beltway. It has a lot of great stores including Aldi next door. Lots of parking. Recommend. read more

The store is huge and in a fairly new location, and parking is a cinch. This Big Lots location is comparable to other Big Lots, but I noticed that this particular location wasn't as busy as others are (I went on Monday evening); I was able to check out quickly (only one person ahead of me in line). The cashier was not particularly friendly, but when I asked, she handed me a flyer for the upcoming 20% off storewide friends and family sale occurring this weekend, April 7-8, 2018. read more

Big Lots is my go to secret spot for everything I need! From detergent to body wash to tissue to audio stuff to kitchenware to furniture to candles... I mean EVERYTHING! And I am so happy I got a location that is decent and close to home. The store is well kept, clean and always stocked. The staff is very friendly & knowledgeable as well. Never too crowded, lines move fast... 4 stars because sometimes the security guard is actually needed... I've been a witness! read more

This store has a large variety of food and condiment items. It is also in the same strip mall as BJ's warehouse. If you need toiletries, cleaning items or school supplies, you will have a nice selection. The security guard was friendly. There were at least four registers open, which was convenient. read more

New store location for the old Forrestville store. Big, clean, organized, and well stocked. My favorite part of the store is the bargains! I love a good deal and they have a lot of them. Plus I enjoy the global foodies in the food isle; today's goodies includes German ice cream sauce, Turkish cookies, and Polish pickles...yumm. But enough about my noshing habits already. This new location has a nice sized furniture area (as Big Lots goes) and nice basics in the soft goods (towels, pillows, curtains, etc). Oh and a reasonable selection of kitchen gadgets. I am a sucker for small kitchen appliances, so I wind up with something new several times a year, Big Lots is my favorite store for this little habit although this location hasn't been here long enough to add to my collection, but it likely will soon. I buy a lot of my hand soaps, hair products, make-up, and the like from this store and other Big Lots locations. I also get my cleaning supplies and laundry items from this store. Basically this is a good store to get many household items and pantry goodies, plus toys and basic pet supplies. read more

I had a very bad experience in this store came in to purchase a chair and had a associate get angry and call my wife out of her name, and they have had issues with this associate before. I have tried to reach out to the general manager and call corporate several times and have yet to hear back from anybody. read more

Just purchased furniture from the Bowie store (because this store was out of stock) the manager at the Capitol Heights store assisted us in finding the same item at the Bowie location. Good service at both locations. Note, it was only one item of furniture, so I was able, with assistance from the store to load it in my SUV and take it home. read more

Typical big lots store nothing too out of the ordinary the inventory seemed low on a few things but this is always my experience. The staff was excellent though in terms of greeting and the light small talk. The reason for my review is because of the team leader Luke, he went above and beyond to fulfill in online order that I was picking up. Big Lots isn't for everyone, but I'm a fan. You never know what stuff you will find here...It's a great place to stock up on cleaning products, lotions and soaps that are closing out. However, don't go here looking for a specific item because you MAY be disappointed. This isn't that type of store. You can find things for the inside and outside of your house, great for beach/water things, cookout items, items for your kitchen, odds and end etc. If you are looking for inexpensive stuff to decorate for a party...this may be the place for you. They have a isle or two of frozen foods. I've never purchased any from here so can't speak on it. People here are nice, they'll even help you take things out to your car if you ask. read more

They have really good prices and clearance items. Also if you're furniture shopping, you may want to stop in here because they have some good options. Another good part about this store is it is never really busy so if you are in a rush you can get in and out pretty quickly. read more

I like visiting this location because the customer service is good & they usually have what I'm looking for. I was there last night, shopping and getting my free masks (another perk) & after visiting a few other stores, I misplaced my car. It was chilly out and my head started hurting. I went back to BL and saw Norvel & asked him for assistance. Without hesitation, he walked up/down the parking lot looking for my car. I flagged down a sec. guard and she looked and called for help as well. After awhile, the police showed up and found car near BJ's. I'm so appreciative of this worker & the sec. ofcr. I felt bad, but didn't stress out because they stayed by my side. My phone was in the car so I couldn't call anyone. The only number I know from memory is my sick Uncle's and he's in Clinton. Thank you Norvel and BL for allowing him to help. Thanks to the sec. ofcr and policemen. There are still good people in this world. read more

Today I am bringing awareness to my experience at your location 1731 Ritchie Station Ct, Walker Mill, MD 20743. I am a regular shopper at this location and the store is always clean and management is usually very friendly. I had a horrible experience at this location on September 8, 2018 at 3:25pm. I was shopping and noticed that some of the items did not have prices on them and the shelf where the item was at had a price on it. Even though the product itself did not have a price I trusted the store knowing they are usually good with posting prices, because I never had a problem in the past. When I finally did reach the cashier with a cart full of products, I asked the cashier if she could do a price check on the items and one item rung up a different price than posted. I let her know that there were plenty of others on the shelf with no price but shelf was marked with a price. She was so polite and said she apologized and that not everything in the store has prices on them right now. Which was not a problem I completely understood. Things turned for the worst when she said let me call the manager over and let her know the items are ringing up differently. She called the manager Gerrie over and before the cashier could finish what she was saying she cut her off and said "it doesn't matter what the shelf says it's whatever price it rings up at. We're not doing any price change they just want a price change its whatever price it rings up." I felt so embarrassed I couldn't believe what she was implying. My family and I shop at this location practically weekly for our everyday needs and the manager boldly stated that my family or I wanted to steal or falsely get a price change? I've never felt more discriminated against or embarrassed. I told her that was rude of her to say and she dismissed me threw her hand up at me and shouted "Bye!" walked away and went to the other register beside me. I was appalled. I asked for her name and she said it's Gerrie and threw religion in it and said, "Have a blessed day I will pray for you because you need it." I asked her not to say that to me because I was in dismay she doesn't know what my religion is or what I believe in. She then proceeded to walk around the cash register and got in my face said harshly, "Let me tell you something I'm 64 years old you better respect what I say because I don't play." I told her to please back away because she was so close in my face and I was afraid and uncomfortable, I don't know what she would've did. She walked backed around to her register and I asked for the store manager's name and she kept screaming at me "I'm the Manager, I'm the Manager!" I finished my transaction and left the store in disbelief and shock that this happened. I usually have such a wonderful experience here and now I feel completely frightened and intimidated to shop here. Please, look into this matter and check your store cameras so you can see how close she came behind the cash register and started to belittle and yell in my face. On that day religion was used as a weapon against me, I was discriminated against because of my age and my financial status was brought into question that I could possibly be trying to steal. I know that these are things Big lot's is not associated with. I hope this situation will be resolved in a timely matter. Thank you. read more

This store is a MESS!!! I went in because a close friend of mine sent me a pic of a few outdoor umbrellas they had on sale. I got there and I literally walked around asking different store clerks for 30 minutes " who do I need to talk to to have someone to bring an umbrella from the back. Each time the employee spoke they were so unknowledgeable. They made excuses instead of saying "I will find someone to help you"!!!! One young male employee even told me " I can't tell by looking at the box which umbrella you want." After speaking to the 5th unknowledgable person I made my way to the Manager. He was an elderly white man who another employee pointed out to help me with my problem. Even he made me stand there for several minutes making me feel so very unimportant. He had 2 jars of honey looking up something at a closed register in front of me. I continued to stand there with a cart full of things. The Manager walked away to do something else. I pushed my cart full of things aside and walked out. This store is in a great location but need better leadership. All they employees were clueless, clearly just there to get a check. Also they didn't care just like their Manager. NEVER again!!! read more

My family and I came to this location and noticed a piece of furniture we were interested in, my husband proceeded to the front to ask for assistance. He located the two associates who were not busy and having a conversation. After patiently waiting for them to acknowledge him one turned around and said the line is over there. Big lots has a very typical layout it was clear where the line was. I am sure my husband was able to distinguish that the person ringing up the one person in line is where he should head had he needed to purchase items. My husband already offended asked the associate was everything ok and if he was having an ok day to which he replied "yea you iight." (Some of you may know what he meant some of you may not but this is not the place to explain the underlying meaning in his response) It was clear at this point the associate was willing to bask in his ignorance and lack of professionalism. My husband asked him why he was being so rude and disrespectful especially when he had been treated with more than his due to where he continues to spew nonsense. Eventually the manager came and diligently tried to subdue my husband's anger by telling him it was a misunderstanding and the associate did not disrespect him and she is sorry if he felt disrespected. Last strike. My husband can not be calmed anymore it's past time to go and we proceed to leave. My husband asked for the associates name and for the number to corporate he was not provided either. All of this when a simple how may I help you or are you finding everything ok (which is what retail for dummies) should have been offered. The store was not busy on a Tuesday at noon he should have been more than willing to I don't know DO HIS JOB. read more
