I came in worried that I wouldn't have the right outfit for an upcoming event. My worries were quickly settled with the friendly sales associate (I'm so bad with names, sorry!) who grabbed me a few items and showed me to a fitting room. If I could give them zero stars I would. The dresses here are not my style but that was ok, they are someone else's style and that is fine. However, I came here looking for a dress for my mom for my wedding and she tried on dresses anyway because we were there and had an appointment. we worked with Annick and I cannot stress enough how much I do not recommend working with her. I showed her other dresses we had ordered for my mom from other places to get an idea of what we were looking at and she insulted the dresses. I was more than polite and open to options even though i did not like anything up until this point but it was so unacceptable how she spoke to me. I nicely expressed over and over that I did not like options she was and it was as if she could not accept that my style is not the same as hers. Going there saved me a great deal of time and made the shopping experience fun and relaxing. I visited Crystal Boutique, traveling from my home a 2-hour flight away. I am a hard-to-fit petite person and was searching for a special-occasion outfit and clothes for an overseas trip. I really hit the jackpot. Joel and Annick are treasures--warm, welcoming and kind. They found many things for me to try on and stayed with me every moment during my visit, showing me a variety of styles with different price points to consider. One of our friends (in her 90's) wanted us to take her shopping for a new ball gown. She saw an ad in the Washington Post for Crystal Boutique, Crystal City Virginia that specialized in evening wear. We were a bit skeptical of the location so offered to check it out in advance. I am so glad we did. It turned out to be a great store for evening wear, ball gowns, wedding dresses for guests, and even sportswear. The owner Joel, his wife Amy, and his team are super helpful on every level, and of course, we also needed something to wear to a gala. One lovely outcome was reconnecting with a longtime friend (Annick) from the famous Claire Dratch Boutique days in Chevy Chase. Turns out she works at Crystal Boutique, which speaks volumes about the store's quality and inventory. She and my sister bonded over fashion many years ago, and their reunion was a joyful occasion. Having Annick help sort out what works for wedding dresses and evening wear is a wonderful reminder that exceptional customer service eliminates stress and makes shopping fun, as it should be! Beware the bait and switch of the promised "made just for you". The sales experience was fine, Annick understood what I wanted and suggested that changing just the collar and cuffs on the dress I liked was no big deal, and I paid a premium of $400 to order the dress with the simple changes. But the dress that arrived was shoddily made, way too big above the waist as if it had been made for someone else, and the collar and cuffs not only didn't fit they wrinkled with every touch. Then they charged me hundreds more for the seamstress to repair all, and she wasn't up to the task. read more

Both of my adult children got married in the past 10 months and I needed two special gowns/long dresses for two different types of weddings. I bought both at Crystal Boutique and was extremely pleased with the selection available and the personal attention and service of everyone at the store. Annick worked with me for both wedding outfits--she is truly a pleasure to work with and is an expert in styling an outfit. (I learned she formerly worked at Claire Dratch so that explains her experience in formal wear!) My dresses were stunning but more importantly they were "right" for my body type. I have never received so many compliments. Their seamtress is very good and everyone in the store was helpful. I also needed stylish clothes for a rehearsal dinner and a trip to Greece and Italy prior to the wedding and bought several pieces there. They have everything from jeans to formal wear! I am not a person who enjoys shopping for clothes. Normally I head to the closest retail store, buy what I'm looking for in a number of sizes, try them on at home and then return what doesn't fit. The store owner was incredibly rude and disrespectful when I attempted to ask him a simple question. It's truly a shame that his level of customer service is so poor because the fashion and other workers there are very nice. Unfortunately, I will not be returning after being insulted by the owner. Believe it or not, I have been shopping here since the mid-70's when Naomi Cohen opened the store and I was working in DC. Since then I have lived in 6 different cities, including LA, and I still shop here - by phone, or on trips to DC.
