She scratches at the stain and accused me of bringing it in that way (I didn't) then proceeds to say she can't see anything. I used First Virginia for 4 months and than they started ruining my shirts!!! I have now had 3 $70 Polo Shirts ruined by this cleaner (Black Ink Splatter dried all over the front and back of shirts). When I told them, they tried to re-clean, ended up not being able to and didnt return my shirts but instead gave me $25 towards each of them in Dry cleaning credit!!??? My 3rd put me over the top and I no longer go there, I have been busy and had not taken the 3rd ruined shirt back yet and when I did (on the hanger that they gave me , with dryclean tags still on it) she told me it was over 30 days!! I've also had two alterations done there- a hemmed dress and a broken zipper. I took in some boots to be re-heeled and even though it takes 3 days, I was really pleased with the results. My boots were pretty beat up from walking on the grates in DC but they made them look shiny and blackened the areas that were worn away. Not like new but close enough in my book. read more

So they ruined my Armani sweater and since I have a ton of clothes. I don't check them everytime I pick them. The sweater had stains and a hole in it. The manager was a complete c*!# about it. She insisted that she hadn't done it, then offered to send it to a guy to see what he could do about. I've spent hundreds of dollars at her business on dry cleaning. Why would I make that up? I know the tear wasn't there when I dropped it off because we would've jointly seen the tear. They didn't offer anything and said it must have been there when I dropped it off. The dry cleaning is ok. The alterations are slow. Got a pair of pants done there that had a hole. Had to take them back because they didn't fix the hole. When I went to pay it was 7 $ which was not a problem. I only had six dollars in cash so I had to pay by credit card and she laughed in my face because she had to charge me 10 for a credit card. Terrible experience. I've been to many dry cleaners over the years, and I must say that these folks acted like crooks in my particular case. Not only was my dry cleaning not ready when promised, but neither were the clothes that I had brought them for wash-n-fold. I brought in 10lbs. of laundry (I know, because I had the same load done elsewhere the week before) and was told that it was $1.50/lb for this service. He did not weigh the clothes in front of me, but I trusted that he would charge me somewhere in the 10lb range. When it came time to pick up the clothes 2 days later, they were not ready on time, and they charged my $2/lb because they had to "rush" to get this done. Oh, and they charged me for 22lbs of laundry -- over double what is should have been. I would have stayed to fight the charge if I didn't have a flight to catch, but after I ran home and weighed the laundry it was 10lbs on the dot. I called the store several times to ask that they correct the charge, but after initially saying they'd call back, they just stopped answering the phone. Long story short - there are many other reputable cleaners out there, and this is not one of them! read more

This place was decent for a while, kind of average, but I had several experiences that made me stop using them: I dropped off a white shirt here and received it back with two issues: one, the left sleeve, to include buttons, was stained bright red. Two, there was additional dirt along the cuffs and at the top of the shirt, not standard with how shirts are worn. (You may find dirt collects on the inside of the back collar, but here the dirt was along the top of the collar, as if maybe the shirt had been thrown on a dirty floor in a laundry facility?). Regardless, I was not happy and asked the lady to re-clean the shirt; she mumbled something, smiled, and said "Come back in a week". I came back a week later to find the dirt on the cuffs remained as well as a red-dyed button and threading along the cuffs. I sent it back again. Again, I got a half-english mumble and chuckle. The third time I came back, the cuffs were still dirty but they had replaced the button. No refund. No discount coupons. Not even an apology, not one single apology after three visits. Additionally, I requested 24-hour service on a suit (for a wedding) and several dress shirts (for the trip). The 24-hour service is actually two-day service since they receive laundry at 5pm every day, so if you drop it off at 8AM on Monday, it'll be ready sometime after 5PM on Tuesday. Some places are quicker and I've been able to pick up next-day drop offs on the next day, but this place has never been able to succeed in this goal. This was an annoying change from the standard, so if you need quick service, try somewhere else. read more

I had just moved to dc and needed a cleaner. I took all of my clothes here plus some that I had bought to be altered. When I went to get my clothes a pair of pants were missing for a brand new suit. When I asked about it they said they would look and get back to me. Well they never did so I went back and asked to speak to a manager. After telling him my story he said how do I know your telling the truth because we have bums come in here all the time saying we lost there items. I ask him do I look like a bum? He said if they couldn't find the pants they would replace them. So I get a call 3 days later on Monday and I was out of town. I came back on Friday, got the message and went first thing Saturday morning. When I walked in the manager said to me you've got to be kidding. I looked at him dumb founded and stated excuse me? He said we just returned your pants yesterday because it has been over thirty days and by law we are not required to keep them. This is now your problem not ours. Needless to say I exchanged some really good harsh words, considered picketing out side of his business as I left. I will never do business with him or the va 1 again. read more

The woman was talking on the phone when we went in and signaled for us to write on a piece of paper what we wanted so she wouldn't have to put the phone down. Went there for about 9 months, it all was fine in the beginning until about 2 months ago. I started noticing that some of my shirts were only pressed but not cleaned. Then the owner literally complained to me because I picked up my shirts about 3 days later than the "ready" date, after that he started being really mean every time i went, questioning the name on my credit card, asking if that was really me. I have frequently used this cleaner and have alway had an ok experience. Recently, I went to pick up roughly 15 men's shirts and a women's dress. They were promised by 5:00 pm on a Thursday evening. When I went into the store at 5:15 they were unable to locate my dress. The woman told me that the delivery hadn't been made for that evening yet. She provided no information as far as when my dress would be there. I suggested she call the driver to check so I would know whether to stick around or come back later. After speaking to someone she told me that they dress would be there that night sometime. I paid for the dress in full at that time (no apologies, no discount, nothing). When I returned roughly 30 minutes later I saw my dress being pulled out of an unmarked minivan with NO protective covering whatsoever. While this experience is not catastrophic it is a poor indication of their customer service and with the number of cleaners in the vicinity I will be going elsewhere. read more
